OHH! Ohh! Let me be first!

Nothing new in setlist. We got Dead Souls, DYKWYA?, With Teeth, Deep, and Suck, everything else...the sameee as always.

Oh gosh, the energy in this was UNBELIEVABLE. The first original show the venue was like, not even half full and NOBODY CARED. NOBODY STOOD UP. I felt like people were SLEEPING OR SOMETHING

But today..wow..today. The second Pinion started EVERYBODY in the seats stood up and we stayed standing up for at least the first 5 songs.

March of the Pigs was.....wow, there isn't a word to describe it. The energy in that could not be matched. it was INCREDIBLE. Trent was fucking EVERYWHERE and even JEORDIE was into it. He threw his mic stand! And Alessandro pounded on his keyboards and yeah.
That was then followed by Something I Can Never Have, which...actually affected me more than Hurt. Everybody was emotionally into it or something. I adored it. Trent cried.

During Closer I seriously believed he was gonna jump into the pit, and again next to VnD and all of them...but it seems that didn't happen. ah well.

Jeordie and Trent threw I think about 59843905846 water bottles.

TRENT BROUGHT BACK THE TAMBOURINE. I was so happy.

He stuck his butt out a lot.

And a lot of moaning....lots and lots of moaning.

He seemed happy, he thanked us a lot. And talked about how he's glad we got through all the hassles it took to get back to play this show, and blahblahblah.

It sped by.

I didn't even talk about Saul Williams. Saul was also fucking AMAZING. Wow. I'm glad there were a lot of people really into him as well.

all in all, FUCKING BEST SHOW EVER. They put the rest of their effort into this "last show".

Oh yeah, and during one part Aaron tried to kill Alex or something, he leaped up and knocked over half of Alex's drum set ON TOP OF ALEX WHILE HE WAS STILL DRUMMING. Hahaha. Great.

I took a billion pictures. I'll post them later.

My feet and legs are sore and I wasn't even in the pit.
Thanks to you great guys in line and the BLOW UP SHEEP. SO AWESOME.

*edit* oh yeah, also, Alex (new drummer, yes, that one) was wandering around the pit after talking to Sweeny and when he walked back me and these 2 other girls shouted "HEY ALEX" and he looked up at us and waved back. Aww.

Show was great, Oakland still beats it crowd wise. I did manage to record Saul and NIN's performance and these will be made availible later on this week. It was great seeing everyone again. VnD i hope you saved that pass for me See you guys in three weeks......

It was a great show. Lots of fun. Thank you to everyone.

Best show I've ever been to...need I say more? Oh yeah, Saul Williams is now my favorite rapper.

this show was unbelievable. i've been to a few now, but i can't remember seeing such a destructive nine inch nails. the set was definitely the most demolished than i'd ever seen it before. trent's energy was amazing, alex was flawless, alessandro was gettin' down with his bad self, and even jeordie was definitely into it.

Trent osunded like he was coughing up a hairball when he was supposedly "coughing". Who knows I was couldnt see, it just sounded heavily affected instead of a genuine emotion. Sop here is a few questions:


1) What is that song he plays midway through closer which sounds like a different track then snaps back into closer?

2) Where people fucking clappinmg for George Bush. Is my frucking school filled with goddamn republicans????

3)Again, how inappropriate was the response during the video portion of the show?

The song during closer is the only time, track nine on pretty hate machine. And all i heard was booing and saw middle fingers and thumbs down when bush was dancing on screen. Here is my question what the hell was "Alex-Andro" doing during Suck? A couple times he was on his knees and it looked like he was playing DDR with his hands.

Great show!!!!! everyone was into MOTP it was crazy energy, everyone was claping, just crazy, but once eraser started to be played everyone in my section started to sit down(lame). what happened to that blow up sheep? and was were they handing out playing cards? in case someone cares i got the 9 of clubs.

It's part of The Only Time that's used before the bridge in Closer. They've been doing that since the club tour earlier this year.

I don't think people were applauding for Bush. I think it's safe to assume that most NIN fans have progressive political views and share the belief that this is the worst administration in U.S. history. So it wasn't "Yay Bush!", so much as it was "Yeah, fuck that guy!"

Outstanding show! Probably the most energetic NIN show I've ever witnessed, both in performance and response, and this was the 11th one for me (counting that half-played one). Eraser live was so sublime and the film was so well done, I bordered on weeping. And despite the fact that I still long to hear Last, Ruiner, The Becoming, I Do Not Want This, Somewhat Damaged, The Way Out Is Through, Into the Void, Where Is Everybody?, Underneath It All, All the Love in the World, and Sunspots live, it really is an incredibly cohesive and impeccably sequenced setlist, and last night's was the longest NIN performance I've ever been treated to. Really awesome. Except for Dead Souls.

Also, I do believe they made some improvements with the sound quality at Cox Arena. Still didn't sound as sweet as at the Hollywood Bowl, or at The Joint at the Hard Rock in Vegas, but it definitely sounded better in there than during their first attempt in September (and when NIN played Fragility there).

Just. Fucking. Incredible. A helluva finale. Knocked my goddamn socks off.

And also, to the person who just spoke of Reagan's administration, thank you. It annoys me to see people flocking to him like they do these days.

I fucking didnt make it there till 9:30 (dont wanna talk about it!) and i got in just after they played something i can never have! I knew they were going to play it and I havnt seen it on any of the other 5 shows ive been too this year. I havnt seen it since 94

With that aside this show kicked ass. At the first one people had their thumbs up their asses and there was absolutely no energy, this one was the opposite. I think the pit during head like a hole was about the biggest one ive ever seen. At least half of the entire floor was just one huge pit. There was some nazi looking meathead going nuts in there and then this chick just came in and knocked his ass out, it was great!

Only bad things i can say is that Aaron seemed to be the only person in the entire place not into it. You can tell he has absolutely no love for the music, its just a gig for him. Also, i realize that Trent views each show as a theatrical performance, but does he really need to keep doing the constipated hurt look on his face when he sings. Sometimes i would rather just see him perform and not have it be so affected.

Regardless the show was definitely one of the better ones i have seen this year. Coechella had the best vibe, but this one was close.

oh yeah... WTF was alexandro doing on the fucking floor half of the time!?

from what I understand, (i didnt see this myself because i was seated on the side) is that when bush is on screen, you can see TR gives him the finger from behind the screen. thats why people cheer

Oh yeah, did you guys notice how in random parts of songs Alessandro started...doing something to his mic that made this loud static-esque noise. I don't know. I've not heard/noticed it before. I was wondering if anybody knew what that was.

To me the guys have definitely "formed a band"-like-bond. At least at this show. Jeordie is so weird, though. Dangling the guitar from his neck and rocking it back and forth with no hands for half a song = weird.

Aaron wanted to destroy the drums again after he smashed into them the first time, but the stagehands were like "NO GO AWAY *shoo shoo*" So then he just had to run up to the front of the stage and rock out there.

I really love how Trent's been absorbing himself in the music lately. Especially songs like March of the Pigs where he's just completely letting go and like....flowing with it. hehe. I sound cheesy. Ah well. It's awesome. I love his jumping and dancing and falling and all of that.

During this one song he kept sticking his butt out and these 3 girls near me started screaming, and afterwards they kept saying "DID YOU SEE HIS ARMS?!?!? DID YOU SEE HIS ARMS!??!?" Yeah. They were smoking pot...directly in front of the security guard. He just glared at them. It gave me a headache. rarrrhghh. Anyway.

Damn, security was lax, wasn't it? Haha, "don't bring in your video cameras, but if you have one...just.....stuff it into your bag so we don't see it, and if you use it....DON'T GET CAUGHT!"

Sweeney did come over to the Spiral lines for a while though. When we were supposed to be let in 15 minutes early, and Sweeney runs up and starts yelling at everyone. Then he told us how he hasn't washed his hands in 7 days. That's nice.

Bwahaha, I loved the guitar-hugging during Burn. It's awesome. Too bad my pictures of it are fuzzy. . I need to resize some and I'll post them here. yes, yes.

Trent and Jeordie really did seem determined to throw everything off stage and into the crowd. Trent threw a water bottle almost the entire length of the pit. That was insane. It was full, too. And at the end they all completely destroyed their stuff. Just unbelievably awesome show.

I'm just gonna keep on rambing! haha. But that's all for now.

Agreeance on the energy. It was more so this time than the last. I was happy the audience was receptive of Saul Williams. I had never heard him before but he is my new hero.


Got to the floor seat line later than intended but was still not to far back (was about number 18 in line) then the schmucks up front kept letting their friends in, and this one guy who recognized a flood people from the 16th and ahd them join him. Sucked mostly since most of them were guys, and the thing that made things smoother on the last show was that the majority of the people up front were female and the male security check just zoomed by while the ladies drifted like a snail. Not this time, we were the snails.

Seemed like people took better advantage of the Spiral this time because when they finally let us in (the normies) the barricade was lined from left to right with people and last time there were plenty of spots not taken even when they let non-spiral peeps in.

There was this group of people that were at the Sep' 16 show that i recognized and were pretty much in the same spot as the last (about three people in and in front of Jeordie) . The pit filled up right quick but the seats were dead even when Saul came on.

Then Nails started and there were still alot of empty seats out there, seemed alot of people couldn't make it this time.

Good energy. Only gripe was the crowd control me and the other people had to play this time around. It was bad enough last time but me and the one girl from the previous show banded together to keep asses from going up front of us. At one point this guy was drunk or something, and picked me up to get me out of the way so he could take my spot which was followed up from an elbo check to his chest from me and an slight beating from the other people behind me.

Also there was this one mexicana WHO WOULD NOT SHUT UP!!!! She would talk between and during songs, and worst off she would sing all the slower songs louder than trent and with an off tune broken english tone. Worse during RWIB since no one else sung and just took it in.

Wish he had kept Even Deeper and/or The Collector into the set since he had started playing them in the last few weeks. But Dead Souls was good. Nice change up in the set (though minute) and so happy the set from the first show and hollywood bowl were not used. Decent change up despite how little.

Left during HLAH knowing that was the last song so i could get dibs at merch before the show ended and the booth closed, plus to avoid traffic, but i ended up pretty much getting home at the same time if i had waited for traffic to die down then leave. Sucked because i wanted to get info from the peeps that i ran into (good people).


And a final note. If you don't like the opening act, don't yell out "you suck", it takes away from those that are paying attention, and lastly, how old are you to be making shadow puppets on the scrim? Again?! At the Bowl it was worse because it was a longer distance from the projector to the stage and the puppets were bigger, but three feet from the stage was just as bad, and annoying.

The concert was fucking awesome. My friend and I were about three rows back on the floor, dead center. We caught 2 of the 20 waterbottles Trent threw to the crowd. I was so freaking happy to hear Reptile, Suck and strangely enough, Deep. Great line up. The energy was so intense. I was literally crushed and my arms look like shit with various bruises and scratches (thanks to the dude behind me trying to push me out of the way). I'd just like to say thanks to the other guys around me for looking out for me.

Absolutely perfect.
I was on the rail right in front of Aaron North and I was surpised at how much I enjoyed the concert from this position. I was able to BREATHE the entire concert but this is not to say that the crowd wasn;t fucking going nuts the whole time.

It was a aazing show with the best energy I've ever seen from NIN. Alex, the drummer, was RIGHT ON.

The guitar was thrown a couple of people down from me. They had to pull the poor guy out so nobody took him down...Lucky guy, congrats to him.

It was awesome seeing everybody there again. <3

I can't think of a better way to end their tour....

On to Depeche Mode next weekend in Vegas @ The Joint....

TR moved around constantly and NIN-danced over by the drums. I was surprised at the energy he had. He bends his legs a lot -- good knees.

Did TR throw in extra lyrics in during Deep?

Twiggy was rocking out at the edge of the stage. He moved around more than SOMA and the Hollywood Bowl. w00t.

I hope they do some more gigs around L.A. in addition to Ho Ho Ho. That would be nice. Perhaps the Anaheim Pond. I'll bring the family if they do. That would rule.

Saul Williams is *sweet* -- I REALLY liked his music.

question #1- was anyone let in for a soundcheck? i was going to wait and see, but being that i didn't have floor tickets this time, i figured it wasn't worth sitting around all day in the event that there *wasn't* one.

questioin #2- there's a song that played between saul and nin, and the chorus has these guys chanting in a very sing song manner, something like "these pills...kills...refills"...i couldn't make out the words in the middle. does anyone know what it is? i tried searching from the list trent posted at access a while ago, but i couldn't find it. and google only gives me an ICP song...which isn't it.

Answer #1: No, there was not a soundcheck or M&G that Sprial members were let in to...I got there at 3:45 am so that I was first in line for the Sprial...and while the exhaustion might have left me a little disappointed by no Soundcheck---I still would have done it, just to be in front. Soundchecks etc are whipcream---I wouldn't have changed one thing...That was such a phenominal show! More on that later...

Answer#2: The song you are referring to is called LA LA Land...but I don't recall the artist. I have a different remix on CD somewhere...more clubby techno. The line goes: Something about those little pills the thrills they yield until they kill a million brain cells...

I will post my detailed thoughts about the show in a little while...have to get back to work (which was a challange after driving home last night!)

Real Quick--- Saul Williams was absolutely brilliant...and its a damn good thing I didn't hear anyone booing him from where I was on the rail. I might have suffered a rage blackout and killed someone.

Most awesome show ever IMO. Nice crowd and the best setlist a girl could ask for. Visuals were tight. Especially my view of sweaty Trent.

Awesome energy at the show, with some drama on our side of the stage. There were 2 chics in front of us who were standing with us throughout most of the concert. Unfortunately, 2 other chics came by thinking they can push there way up front (to no avail) as the other girls pushed them back. One of the obtrusive ones called the girl I was standing with a bitch, and I could of almost bet there was going to be a catfight right there and then. Security was called and I didn't see them for the rest of the show. Besides that and someone smelling like shit in front of me, it was fucking fantastic.

I got there at 10:30 in the fucking morning to be in the front of the line, the guy in front of the spiral got there 6 hours after me. There aparently is no limit on how many fans can get on the spiral, so there was me and 20 people in the line for floor while there are 100 people in line for spiral. It seems like bullshit to me. I think true fans are the ones who spend their whole day sitting in front of the venue waiting for the band to arrive not some clowns who threw $30 at a membership.

The show was still amazing and I got Aaron's guitar so that made my life worth living.

What are you even TALKING about? I agree completely with your logic - trust me, BUT we were in the spiral line and got there a lot earlier than 4:30pm. We were a lot earlier than even 10am.

I said as soon as the whole spiral thing was announced that basically this was just gonna cause people to have to pay money to sit in line all day if they want to be in front - and that is exactly what has happened. The "early access" thing is pretty pointless really because you still have to get there early. ESPECIALLY with the soundcheck shit now, people are getting there 73684736 times as early. Sucks but its just how it is.

Oh and by the way - they threw $60 at the membership if they are getting in early.

P.S. TIMP - no that wasn't us haha. We actually had no problems last night, everyone around us was pretty rad. Or perhaps it was the fact that my "nametag" said "VND - I beat bitches up"

My apologies, I did not see the AM part of his post, and I thought that it said PM. Indeed then, may I say that I commend your dedication to being in front for the show. I kno that after waiting all day, when I got in the girl in front of me (spiral member) said that she was reluctant to show up when she did (6 pm) because she didn't want to wait a full hour before doors open. I died a little on the inside when she said that.

As I recall, standard membership to the spiral is $30, and that standard membership gives you access to the entrance. Please tell me if I am mistaken as I was intending to buy a standard membership for next year.

One good thing about the people near us this time around, was the fact these 2 bloody blonde bitches behind us only showed up for the last half of the show

The 1st time around they were doing some softcore porn antics, drinking rum, screaming with the most obnixious voices, and during the whole JD situation, constantly were mocking how they could play better, how fuckin hot T.R was, what they would do to give him a massage, etc.

I'm sure some of you are thinking "great, they are having a good time"

BUT NO. If you were in front of these girls who were constantly playin with mine and my friends hair when we were trying to enjoy ourselves, we would have grabbed "Ms. Trashbag" and chucked her at "Thelma and Louise on Acid" hoping some sort of catfight would ensue and they would all get thrown out

...but this is all besides the point haha

they were just drunk and loud this time, but the girl next to me's friend was sitting next to them up there and I knew if there were any hassles there would be some color in their hair, if you catch my drift.

who knows if you do ha, but it was a BLOODY INSANE experience all around.

T.R crying/coughing/putting on a dramatic death scene, the random throwing of objects into the crowd, destruction at the end, Saul Williams who I really did enjoy, regardless of what people had said of him in the past, put on an OUTSTANDING performance...I never knew that all those sounds were coming from the DJ (guitar, drums, etc), and pretty much giving me a feeling of contentment at the end of it all, thanks guys.

Great show.

Came all the way from MI to see the show. Better than detroit show. I met Alex and Jeordie. Alex is a very nice guy. Also got a copy of my Fragile story to Trent. Roadie hooked me up with two NIN picks and a signed photo. Setlist was great. Oh yea, people were clapping when George Bush came up because I yelled FUCK YOU at the screen and I think they agreed with me. I'm sure Trent got a smile out of that. Overall great experience that I will never forget.

Sweeney did come over to the Spiral lines for a while though. When we were supposed to be let in 15 minutes early, and Sweeney runs up and starts yelling at everyone. Then he told us how he hasn't washed his hands in 7 days. That's nice.

I was wodnering, between sets, there was that thign that was played over the speakers, it was just like, this list of all these side effects of some medicine or something, it was creepy. Is that some song, or what, I remember hearing it last time, someone please enlighten me.

Yeah i was commenting that no wonder reznor is so messed up in the head if that is what he listens to. It was interesting stuff though.

So now I have seen 4 NIN shows this year.

This will probably be my last rant on this site. I am picking up where I left off on the canceled San Diego show on Sept 16th, regarding drummers.

Well this concert was like hearing an altogether different band than the other three shows.

I can’t call Nine Inch Nails and Industrial rock band any more. That label simply doesn’t fit the new member line up. Words to describe the band now - raw, primitive, primal. Yes they are a raw, primal rock band. I think Trent has been on the road too long with Queens of the Stone Age. He has taken his band further down the spiral in to the Jurassic Period. I guess perfect for a song like Reptile.

Gone are the second line drum beats. Gone is the funk of Piggy. Gone is most of the neat computer sequencing. Gone is the seamless drum break in Suck. Gone is the cool New Orleans intro to Head Like a Hole, gone is the hip drumming of Jerome Dillon, replaced by head banging pummeling. What is left is again - raw and unrefined. On the upside gone is Strarf***ers.

Yes the syncopation is still there but the coolness of it all has diminished too. If you thought that Only might take you back to the 70’s forget it. It gets the same treatment as all the other songs, loud and thunderous.

Last nights show rocked more than the other shows but I have to be honest I like Jeromes playing that made NIN swing a lot more than Alex’s furious pummeling. Alex does a great job on the new With Teeth material but the older material isn’t as up to par. Is NIN becoming generic? Then again the drummer problems were not Trents doing and his excellent performance as singer etc. is very consistent from one show to another.

I have read comments on this site regarding Alex’s playing. Comments like “spot on” & “flawless”. What does that mean? I can’t call Alex’s drumming spot on. Flawless... surely you are joking. Granted there was no time to audition drummers and I respect the fact that Alex met the challenge and probably under great duress. He now has 24 or so shows under his belt.

If you like drummers that beat the shit out of there drums on every song like Trent does then you will love Alex’s playing. For me it gets tiresome, repetitive and monotonous (I could never say that about Jeromes playing, in fact quite the opposite) and it would be nice to see and hear some great musicianship and dare I say it - chops & finesse. Trents main focus on drummers seems to be muscles everything else is secondary. Maybe he searches for drummers at the gym.

I have to give Alex credit though. He is a good at what he does and maybe there is more to his one dimensional playing than meets the ears and eyes at a NIN show. He does a good job on difficult songs like Burn and Eraser that have beat displacement - I think. It was tough to figure out what was actually being played and what was sequenced on those numbers even though I had my binoculars. He beats the hell out of the hi hat too and for no apparent reason because I couldn’t hear the hi hat in the house mix. I think it is mostly theatrics because you can get a big sound from drums with out having to club them to death. It is called sound reinforcement. I say less theatrics and more musicianship.

So I am over NIN for now. Pinch me when a new CD comes out and a new tour is under way. When Trent is ready to get over this fad he has right now bombastic drummers. I hope he reinvents himself before another major tour. I am ready for him to go to another level & direction with his music. I seems to me that he is taking a step backwards. Maybe he is going through mid life crisis. I can identify with that.

All sour grapes. I’m not in the band - right? I am too old & I don’t have big enough muscles.

Oh, by the way I did enjoy the show. The sound & lighting was really good too.

Just my two cents. I think I have the right as I have spent quite a bit of money on all things NIN this year (3 concerts from ebay - 3 nights in Vegas, 5 NIN CD’s & DVD’ sorry Trent 2 bootleg CD’s & DVD, 2 T shirts & gas to get there and back from 4 shows).

Trent - A sincere thanks for coming back to San Diego. San Diego loves Nine Inch Nails.

And part of Jeordie's goof ball anitcs was he kept getting amused by creating a beam of light off of his bass into the audience from on of the lights near him. He did this at least two times during the performance and was just as amused the second time as he was the first time he did this.

Darling, suck it up and spend the sixty dollars--its the only way to fly in the Sprial...or not. You obviously had a great experience despite the fact that we got into the show before you. The Sprial is great for those of us who go to lots of shows and derive the greatest satisfaction from being right in front. You get strategic when you start going to a whole bunch of shows---and that's just one more tool in planning out your show experience.

Oh---and BTW I'm a girl! Dedication knows no bounds...

I was actually suprised that my friends and I were first...but like VnD said---the stakes have been raised 73684736 times. Planning is required---as is sleeping in shifts.

Starshine---that was me next to you! My friend that is into Vast was about 5 people to the left of you---we always end up apart, whatever is open, ya know? And one of the people I was with was involved in the Sweeney incident with the handwashing ...he was a guest of another Sprial member...everything worked out---including the noble coolness of those who were let in before us letting us go in front of them---because they do know what its like to wait in line too---I know they have put in a VERY signifigant amount of time on this tour.

It was really great talking with everyone, and making some new friends to say hello to at shows! (and all up in here!)


VnD, you didn't make a nametag---you made a very appropriate WARNING LABEL! It should be printed on the back of the ticket not to try to get past you on the rail! (Remember Vegas?)

(and for the record WE ourselves had been there waiting all day) We definitely weren't trying to cut those of you that had also waited all morning - our main issue was that there was some people that we saw cutting that HADN'T been there all day (mainly three broads that cut the fucking LAST show - see my spiral post for more details) that we were concerned about. They STILL made it onto the rail anyway but whatevz. We DO know what its like to wait all day and trust me that our intention was not to fuck over those of you that do.

It's from the soundtrack to the movie "Blue". It seems to be out of print, but you could probably find it used somewhere.

Yes, yes we can...here's what has been running through my head the last couple of days...if you already read my sprial post etc, you can just scan it----most of the same ideas, but a few additions!

Sunday night was a prime example of eloquence, brilliance and beauty from some extraordinary gentleman. I would love to see Trent and Saul do more together in the future. An interesting parallel that I thought about on the way home was that both performers cannot be defined or pidgeon-holed by any particular genre---and I like that.

I was mesmerized by Saul Williams...he had me when he used the word succinct when he was saying hello…After he performed, my mind was going everywhere---

Trent and company really outdid themselves...when I left I felt like I couldn't have asked for anything more from that performance---my long lost With Teeth (hadn't caught it since Vegas), finally hearing Dead Souls, and all of the subtle reworking in everything else. All the songs, even the ones I've heard live a million times felt different---they popped just a little bit more...I don't get the complaining about hearing the same songs---we all knew what we were getting into with this leg...and I DO see differences in each performance---which is why I like going to as many shows as I can.

Those new manipulations that Alesandro was doing were crazy cool! What is that new gadget of his that looked like a teleprompter? My favorite thing with what he was doing was when he was on the floor and pulled out his Evian spray! I finally remembered to bring mine (yes I am an LA yuppie)...and my friend and I were cracking up! (I guess I am more practical than I thought!) Maybe it was my positioning this time (more centered, stage right rail), but I was actually able to see what he was doing…and we can put to rest any rumors that he was back there IMing…( A: “Hey there…A/S/L? I’m at work…but I should be done around…Shit! My boss is coming…he looks mad…BRB!”) hahahaha!

One last rant about the stupid people in the crowd...
Heres a hint: I showed up a 3:45am so i could be first in...you aren't getting through me! I especially loved the "logic" of the really tall dumbfuck that asked if he could "see what it was like" on the barrier before the show! Come on. I may have been born on a tuesday...
Most of the crowd was pretty chill though...I didn't feel as crushed or hot temperature wise as some of the other shows..what was up with the crowd surfers getting thrown back in by security? That was some bullshit! Luckily, the second time non-descript skanky hoe #347 came up, stripping while she surfed (ack!) she got pulled out...is that what the rubber medical gloves sitting on one of the amps were for?

Anyway...I am so thankful that I was able to go to the show---and that Trent and company made it up to us. Thank You Thank You Thank You! (Cannot say that enough…)

That show is what it is all about...the energy was palpable. I think that I felt more consumed and affected by Sunday's performance than any of the others...dare I say even the club gigs? They keep raising the bar for what the best can be...and the best is yet to come...right?

It was my first NIN concert and I was so impressed. My best friend recently introduced me to their music and when I heard they were coming back to Cox I jumped at the chance to go.

We had GA tickets and started waiting in line about 1pm, so it wasn't too bad. I did not know anything about NIN or any background on them, only knew a few songs that were played on the radio, but I got their whole entire history waiting in line so thank you to all the people who filled me in. We stood directly in front of Jeordie in the second row. The spiral member in fron of us was really nice and my best friend knew her from the Sacramento show.

It was fantastic. Best concert I've been to overall and would gladly go back anytime.

This show... [not to be redundant] was fucking A M A Z I N G.

i brought my boyfriend and best friend and we arrived at the spiral line around 5:30 ish. ticketBastard fucked up my tickets so i had to get new ones and that went surprisingly smooth. we were just getting situated in line and i was scanning the goup to look for any familiar faces... i see long wavy brown hair and a bright blue Old Navy sweater sticking out like a sore thumb amidst the sea of black... "LADYOTMS!" i yelled. she was really nice, showed me where she was, we chatted, and i asked if TIMP was there, i wanted to meet him.

we walked to the spiral ticket will call and i met him, he helped me and my bf/ f figure out the whole spiral guest thing... he was really sweet... and he got one of his friends to take my man in since i had two guests... anyway we just bummed around, smoked some cloves and waited to be let in.

well we got in DAYS after we were supposed to [i didnt check the time, but shit thats what it felt like] and we went to go find our [shitty] seats that i bought [WAY too late] lol. we were five rows from the TOP. BAD. ugh. anyway.

saul came on, and, though i am not into the style and i didnt do any research on his music, i was very impressed with the passion in his voice and how he took command of [90%] of the audience like THAT *snaps fingers*. though there WAS some redneck behind me yelling the N word and shit, i just glared at him... i didnt want any of his chew tobacco in my hair!

my friend and i took a smoke break before NIN to go 'people watch'; the most AMAZINGLY SKANKY girls were EVERYWHERE! i mean, i dont think they looked in the mirror, they just thought 'oh i have a couple strings, a band-aid and a nin patch on. im HOT' lol. eugh.

so back inside... we decided we were NOT putting up with our nosebleed seats, so after careful scanning, we found 3 seats about 15 rows from the bottom :] teriffic! the show FINALLY STARTED!#$%^&* whew ok.

you guys know the setlist, im not wasting the time/energy/space to type it up. as soon as i heard pinion i had my ass outta the seat. from start to finish, this has been the most energetic [and at times] most theatrical NIN experience... the sniffles/sobbing during SICNH was priceless. it was so moving. [i have it on video.]

... and his THRUSTING and JUMPING like a crazed person... his smashing the mic stand and propelling water bottles into the pit with the force of a grenade... goddam his muscley arms are taking over RAAR! i love the man. i really do. RWIB was so pwerful, what with the imagery of death and destruction... and happy ass buch at his fancy fucking ball... i yelled something like "FUCK BUSH" or whatever, to which some responded with cheers... arghhh! it was just the best of the 3 NIN concerts i have been to. :]

btw i cant imagine Trent singing (or dancing) to MIA....

I care:). that was seriously a really awesome show. I wished i could talk about it sooner but my internet was busted. But yeah, i took pix but i was kinda far away so it sucked, and i wanted to take a pic of trent singing hurt, but didnt want to piss off the people near me with flash.

Haha, I have a lot of pictures, and this is only half of what I actually took. These are the good ones. I have some before of the sheep and Sweeney talking to Alex (new drummer) and Saul Williams performing and a billion from the concert itself. Since the guys were jumping around so much it was pretty hard to get a decent picture. Yeah, so they're kinda blurry at times. But some have really cool lights! Yes!

*edit* oh yeah, looking at the pictures reminded me: Well, it depends on where you were sitting, but if you were on the right side of the stage, while Saul was performing you could see his shadow projected largely across the other side of the.....seats? arena? Anyway, it looked really cool. I have a picture that kinda shows it, the Saul one with the really bright lights. It looked even cooler when he was dancing.

I can't believe it's been a week since the show. And I can't believe that it took me a week to post. So I guess I don't have too much to add.

This was my 12th and last show of the year, and it was a good way to end, even if we didn't get a soundcheck. All of the shows that I went to on the fall tour had shortish sets (SD v1, Hollywood Bowl, and 2 nights of Voodoo), so it was great to get almost 2 hours of NIN. And to hear Deep for the first time, and With Teeth & Dead Souls for the first time since the spring.

This was my 3rd San Diego show for the year, so it was fun to run into people that I met at the earlier shows. And I think I startled VnD and Jennabunnie and (forgot her name) when I barged into their dressing room (aka the women's restroom in the athletic center). Does everyone who sees Jennabunnie now say "Oh, yeah, you made out with Trent" ?

I enjoyed seeing Saul Williams open. But I have to admit, I liked him more when he had Trent and NIN as his backing band at the Voodoo shows.

My friend and I had a good spot on the rail near Aaron. Good energy, but no bruises. Though it did still get hot, so Sweeney was my best friend when he gave us cold water bottles partway through the NIN set. I was very near the guy who got Aaron's guitar; I got my hand on the strap, but didn't have a chance at reeling it in.

So now I'm done for the year. Time to start saving money for January...

There is not much more I can say that has not already been iterated about 10+thousand times and I agree with each positive comment; from the singing, to the music (and I strongly disagree with the guy that said Alex is playing only with power and not talent (total wrap up of his review – he’s in his own element and drummers should not be compared; but appreciated for their accuracy, which cannot be denied!). Out of the seven shows I've seen this year, I have not been so amazingly impressed to the point of awe as I was with this last show on the tour. Energy, charisma, connection, and intensity are the words that come to mind when I think of that great show just one week ago. The lights where simplistic at the same time mesmerizing, and absolutely perfect. The video footage emphasized the lyrics so well and resonated with my views on so many things so well, that I almost felt as if I wrote the stuff myself. And yes, when Bush came on and the crowd clapped, it is to point out what a moronic sponge he is, and nothing more than the leader of mindless killers (those claps and cheers were far from honor). On my drive home, I remembered my first show back in '94 and thinking how phenomenal NIN/TR was and how I hoped that he would never go away. So many great artists will run away after success thinking if they leave during the height of their careers, then they'll be remembered as great; idiotic IMO. Luckily, TR did not succumb himself to this dramaqueenesque roll. Though he has given me quite a few scares with the length of his in between album times. I thought producing might entice him so much that he would stay behind the scenes forever. Again, big sigh of relief. It may be weird to some, but his music was one of the propellers behind me pursuing a doctorate in psychology (industrial/org. not the shrink side) – I wasn’t the only person with *%&ed up thoughts, but knew I wasn’t crazy. I loved having an offset point of view on the world, and he backed all of that up. The great thing about him coming to SD for me was that I was finally able to give his tour bus driver a letter thanking him for the years of brilliance and congratulate him on his clean streak. I have no idea if it actually got to him (I told him I'd take him for coffee/tea anytime he's in LA/SD), but I'll just bath in probable ignorance and believe he did! Yikes, a 28 year old groupie – oh well!!! Thanks to the crowd for the returned energy (though Oakland was more rowdy, I think SD and LA had a much greater vibe with him - you could totally feel the appreciation). I unfortunately got pushed back a bit and ended up about six rowsish back, but dead center on!!! Great show, great vibe, great performer, of course!

Haha...we are so fucking ghetto. I'm pretty used to being recognized by now but usually people don't see me with no make up on. Yikes.

Glad you had a good time - sucks we won't see you at any other shows.

to see trent live and sing with him while he was actually performing and not while this was coming from my headphones felt amazingly awesome. I was so fucking excited to be there i couldnt even express it. i just stood there taking everything in. the sound, lighting,equipment...I was on the side but I thought it was a more-than-decent view. I was thinking about how awesome it would be if i jumped over the rail to somehow see trent a little closer, but knowing my clumsy ass I would wind up accidently knock ing over all the eqipment and ruin everything, and have a very angry audience and a very angry trent attack me due to this. lol Luckily this didn't happen. I would hate to leave on a bad note. But yes the whole thing in my opinion was amazing.

I still can't believe they played Dead Souls--highlight of the night, by far. My friend and I looked at each other in shock...and during Deep too because we make oh so much fun of that song.
