Couldn't agree with you more. I had a broken arm so I stayed on the first row so I could try to hold on to the fence and protect myself, but it didn't quite work, for the crowd was wild during Iggy show, and when he asked the public to join him on stage people just started trowing themselves over whoever /whatever was in front of them - so I got hit on the head several times. But, as sore and bruised as I got, I just managed to stay there through the whole thing so I could actually see the NIN show close enough. And I am SO glad I did. It was totally fucking awesome! I still get the goosebumps when I think about it. During Closer Trent went down the stage to the pit and everybody just piled up to touch him (and, allowing myself a moment of crazy-fan-gone-wild, I did it too... I was thrilled, hehe). The whole show was very straight to the point, no "I love you sao paolo" shit, but you could feel just how pleased they were to be playing there, the way the crowd was reacting - specially during "Hurt", with moments of silence and them a whisper slowly growing as the whole crowd was singing along... beautiful! Maybe people were not as wild as one would expect, but that was beacuse everybody was just amazed, watching the show with a mixture of bedazzlement and respect (most people waited for this gig for more than ten years, so they were just not in the "let's get wasted" mood). As far as I know, the media has been working hard on spreading this version of the facts were Trent was not pleased with the performance and just decide to finish early, but for what I know he was pissed at the festival organization (as Iggy was, and that's why he kicked the cameras and spit at the reporters on stage - but that's not the official version, they keep saying he was just doing his wild act, but those who were close enoug to see and hear know how it happened). Apparently the organizers did't allow an encore because they had to leave soon so they could get to Rio on time, and even so some of the equipment didn't make it on time and they had to perform without most of the screens and scenery (and three hours late). Oh well, I can only hope they were not too disapointed with this, and will come back to Brazil with their own show, and not with one of those crappy festivals.
