Sorry for the delay, I was not fully accounting for the time difference. Thanks to deco for the heads-up.

since the other thread got locked i copy paste my report in here.

well, just got back from the gig.

one word

AW-FUCKING-SOME!

man, i'm totally destroyed. this was my first nin show, and it exceeded my expectations, it hardly can get better than that - but it can, 'cause i was one of those lucky bitches who won a meet and greet with the band :P as a bonus we could also listen to the soundcheck (the frail/the wretched comes to mind, but i can't remember the other ones for now, maybe tomorrow )

the meet and greet (right after the soundcheck) itself was rather crappy, since we were not allowed to take pictures and we only could have one item signed. jeordie was the first who showed up, he quickly signed our stuff, didn't talk much and left. then the others came along, alessandro, jerome, trent and aaron shook our hands, dropped a few lines (hey, how are you, nice to meet you etc.) and signed our cds, pictures whatever. i didn't say much, 'cause all happened so quickly and i didn't really know what to ask them. but fuck it, i met trent!

first the dresden dolls put up a quite entertaining show. the singer suprised me (and the audience too i suppose) with her nearly perfect german. the drummer is really cool, he lost like 5 drumsticks during the performance due to his playing style.

after the change over the pinion intro started followed by probably my favourite nin song the frail/the wretched (i count them as one). i really dont know the exact order but they also played

wish
march of the pigs
something i can never have
the line begins to blur
suck
sin
terrible lie
burn
you know what you are?
love is not enough
the hand that feeds
closer/down in it
home
gave up
reptile
hurt
dead souls
starfuckers, inc
head like a hole

i think that's pretty much it, someone just put that in the correct order please (and add anything that i may have forgotten).

aaron was all over the stage running around like mad. one of the highlights was when he climbed on the pa and smashed his guitar during head like a hole.

trent threw one of his guitars to back of the stage after it wasn't working, and he dumped another guitar into the audience. he's really generous, lol.

during starfuckers (the "don't you" part) trent let the audience sing, then said something like "fuck yes. you are a great audience, live in great city yatta yatta", the usual stuff, but it was nice.

this was truly a night to remember (at least for me it is). thank you trent.
Bricklayer
hey,

just came home from the concert.

i guess there is nothing to add to what has been written before.

the only thing that was special maybe was that they did not play any encore...

they played the usual songs but all without any break and stopped right after hlah...

trent did not say anything to the audience besides "you have been a great audience...we just played some shitty festivals in germany..." during the break in *fuckers...

all in all it was a solid rock show with nothing to complain !!!

i would love to see this tour again in fall...

Thanks for vienna Info. Unfortunately wasn't there.
I had seen them at hurricane festival, that was def. also great cause it was the first show I saw after fragile-gigs 5 years ago.

But tomorrow at the columbiahalle in berlin, that will be the highlight-smashing one! I hope. But you know what, it's nearly hard to drive carefully from Hamburg to Berlin while listen to march of the pigs, wish, mr self destruct, getting smaller etc. as loud as it could be.
Well, take care and see you in Berlin.
Gute Nacht.
i´d say it was a normal rock show. not disappointing but also not the greatest show ive ever seen. they played their songs, but didnt really communicate to the audience.

jeordie was pretty cool. seeing him in a different band with different style was great. he looks great and i guess he has fun playing in nine inch nails.

to the guy who won the meet and greet:
dont you think its pretty fucked up to just get one item signed? and that trent didnt say a fucking word?
i mean ive been to many concerts and always got autographs and fotos from and with the band - except yesterday. about 30 - 40 people were waiting outside after the concert. when trent and the band came, the didnt write one autograph, didnt shake hands or anything else. they went to the bus within two seconds. jeordie was the only one showing the devil-sign to the crowd, when they screamed his name. that was pretty poor ive to say.

so, like i said, the concert was good, not fantastic - i guess a normal nin-show.
Bricklayer
hey ho , great show !

after the don´t you part in starfuckers

very cool to hear dead souls...didnt expect this.
burn kicked ass ... oh man...whole show was incredible.

he didnt talk much or interact , but fuck it...they played a fuckin solid rock show
Master Traveler
It was my first concert too! But it was fucking awseome!!! So crazy and I lost my voice :o I was singing loud all the fucking time and it was like "OH MY GOD! THIS IS SO FUCKING GREAT!"

I am looking forward to seeing them live again and I hope that this time I will have more luck with "meet and greet" thing :-(

and I don't remember the right order of the songs
Hi All!

It was a great concert! Here is the real setlist for vienna:

yeah, you're right about this. the main problem was the record company i guess. the chick from universal records kept bitching around "no cameras or cell phones with a camera option, no bags, no nothing. just one item that you like to have signed." great. i mean, what's the point of having a meet and greet and not taking pictures or talking to the band? although listening to the soundcheck was damn cool.

maybe trent was pissed (as someone stated after the meet and greet), and when he was i know why, coz those lame ass record company cunts as well as the venue staff didn't seem to be talking to each other. the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. the meet and greet was just a poorly organized happening. if someone put more effort into it and not pissing off trent, i guess it would have been nice. maybe that's the reason that the band rushed to their buses afterwards, but what do i know.
great concert....

but the coolest thing was to meet our very tr on viennas high street. he was very relaxed, cool and friendly, although he didn't talk that much. actually, he just said 4 words while i was telling him about how much i liked the new album ;) (i guess he is hearing that a lot...so i dont mind if he wasn't to keen on talking about things he has to talk about over and over again)

anyway, i got my t-shirt signed, a sweaty t-shirt i just came back from the gym with ;)
anyway, i had no sheet or something, so i just grabbed a pen and thats it :)

well, seems yesterday was my lucky day, as i was able to get front row at the show. musically and technically, the concert was great. but i missed interaction with the audience...i guess that is not that talkative and so on, i noticed this in the afternoon when i met him too, so again, it was cool.

the items i snagged were the original setlist of NIN, the dresden dolls drumstick and a nin plectron....

i'm happy right now, but i think i'll get some rest again, as i am a bit bruised ;)

Insane GIG. They played so fucking good and very loud, but it sounds great. Panels, strobo and a few mac2000; so simple and so impressive - genius. And one more thing: Trent's voice, he is the one and only ! Perfect start and gorgeous end, middle too :) my personal best - GAVE UP

greetzzz to 2 people from Poland - Nataly and her great brother ;) - i'm that guy from Slovakia.

I'm so satisfied... NIN 4ever
Bricklayer
Just came back from Vienna this morning.
The concert was great - the crowd too. Nice and friendly people and everyone was singing along to the songs, even far in the back of the venue. That was a surprise for me. I've been to many concerts in Austria and normaly in the backrows everyone's only watching with crossed arms. But yes: NIN-Fans are different :-)

I stood next to the mixing booth and had a great view. The setlist has already been posted.

The Dresden Dolls were great. I too was surprised how perfect Amanda's German was. Their cover of Warpigs was amazing, also Amsterdam. Good show! The audience liked them - applause everywhere.

Then came NIN. Trent is really buff :-) Whoever said that Jeordie looks bored on stage: Not in Vienna! Whenever I saw him he was running around. Aaron is a madman. Sometimes Jeordie and Aaron seemed to me like schoolkids fooling around behind the back of their Dad while he is working at the front of the stage ;-)

During the middlepart of "Starfuckers" Trent said something like: "Fuck - yes! Your are a fantastic audience. We just played two shitty festivals in Germany. But you make everything alright again." I'm not sure with the last sentence but at least that's what he meant. He may have used other words though :-)

They also made the usual water bottle fights. Jeordie watered Alessandro very gentle :-) Alessandro threw bottles at Trent and Jeordie - both times direct hit.
At one song Trent threw the mic into the crowd but I don't remember which song it was. He and Aaron also threw their guitars into the audience.

All in all: A fantastic concert! I've seen them the 2nd time now. Back in 2000 the concert touched me inside as I couldn't believe that I was finally seeing them live. It was like being in a different dimension back then. This time it was so much fun to watch them but not as emotional as the first time. But nevertheless great!

I can understand that they left early yesterday. They play in Berlin today. It's a long journey - even if you go there by plane it's exhausting. They need their sleep too - performing on a stage is like sport.

Did anyone make some pics? I decided to leave my camera at home but would love to see some. Please post!
year the gig was so great! good setlist but tdtwwa and we are in this together and eraser were missing :-( . still a perfect show! but in my opinion, trent has to much muscels now...
the show was realy great. standard pure solid rock show (tough) :)

didn't anybody notice them playing a song by joy division? i really loved to hear them play a cover... :)

they could have played a little longer. head like a hole rocked so hard, but then they just left. grrrr.
Master Traveler
smalltowngirl I will post some pictures of the show in the evening or tomorrow in the morning... I'll make a torrent of the video files too... not a very good quality but still ;) just for a reminder. stay tunned

Nice crowd, too, friendly, even in the moshpit.

During the break in starfuckers trent said:

you just said vienna high street ?! wtf is that? ;)
don´t know that one
GREAT SHOW!

The setlists are correct. "Dead Souls" was, of course, a huge surprise, but since I don't really like the song all that much it was just ... whatever. I really wish he would play more stuff from "With teeth", but I'm not complaining, it was a great show.

The crowd was really into it, I really got my ass kicked in the pit.

As has been mentioned, Trent didn't talk much, but I don't think he ever really does. The thing during Starfuckers about the "great crowd" sounded like it came straight from the heart, it wasn't, as someone implied, the usual platitudes.

After NIN left the stage, the crowd stayed for a LONG time, shouting for an encore, and I thought, "Fuck me, looks like they're going to do one," but alas. I was looking forward to Trent coming out and saying, "Thanks, you're the best audience I've ever played for. Here's a song we haven't played yet. After that - drinks for everybody at my hotelroom."

I was at the "shitty" Southside show, and Trent did seem really pissed, does anybody know what for? The crowd wasn't terrible or anything.
high street = kärntnerstrasse/graben

i met him in a shop, but i wont tell the name of that shop because it was trents private life so i think its better not to mention where he shops...anyway...

a friend, my brother and i were in that store and were looking around when the friend told my brother: look, there's trent reznor right behind you! my brother and i both laughed, because we thought our friend was joking...i then went to the front of the shop and oh my fucking god...i saw the black hair, the muscles, the face, the eyes...trent reznor in person was in the shop. the cool thing was that the staff of the store didnt even know who he was ;)

another sidenote: my brother wore a black NIN shirt so trent definitely saw him and knew that there were fans at the place ;) (and i'm sure he didn't think that he would face fans in this kind of shop :D )

anyway, trent was very silent, didnt talk much...he just pointed to the different things he wanted to look at when i asked him to sign my t-shirt he just said "sure" and signed it. then i told him how much i loved his new album and he replied "thanks"...after that, we went to the back of the shop to continue our own shopping spree and to grant trent the privacy he deserves...

well, we bought our stuff and left the shop but stayed outside to talk... 2 minutes later trent left the store too, saluted us and said "bye guys" (with a smile on his face, but withOUT showing his teeth ;) )

well, he just spoke 4 words but it was fucking cool. i never imagined meeting trent while shopping...he really made my day :)
Bricklayer
hehe nice story ;)

nice from you to let him keep his private life.

maybe i can catch him up next time he´s in vienna...got a question for him , wich i like to ask.

hope his coming on the fall tour.

also wanna know why he didn´t like the 2 festivals in germany ;)
Master of the Ninth Arch
Ahaha, I was just going to reply for you, legendarystardustcowboy! And no, I wouldn't have mentioned the shop or ... either. :)

We actually wanted to ask you for your e-mail address/phone number/whatever, because we would've liked a copy of the setlist, but dang, we lost sight of you guys when you were heading for the merchandise stand.

Any chance we could still get a copy of it? :) (I would've sent you a private message, but you're not a registered member of the board, thus I unfortunately can't..)

StefanS wrote: got a question for him , wich i like to ask.
i dont think that he will talk that much. at least he wasnt very talkative yesterday... either he had to take care of his voice (as a lot of singers do) or he is just that kind of introverted guy ... or maybe both ;)
but good luck to you ;)

anyway, it was a f**king cool show. I liked how they rocked, I liked Trent's energy, and the crowd was really nice too. A few posers  , but a cool crowd.

And the Heineken I got after the show from the BP Gas Station tasted so great like no beer before.

The Pit was pretty wild, and it really started at "Wish" that everybody went wild, and I can tell from the bruise I got above my ribs... :D

Nice setlist. A few girls standing next to me seemed to not know "Closer", so I got a few strange looks when I sang to the chorus...but I think they then knew that these are the lyrix of the song...

I'd originally thought that the audience at Southside wasn't all too enthusiastic, but ehh, someone else said this wasn't true, so apparently, I was wrong.

Maggiebear posted elsewhere that TR had told her they'd return *next* year (yeah, well, autumn is a bit early) AND that they'd then be playing ATLITW, but frankly, I can't see NIN performing that song live. I'd love them to, but it's basically made up of piano + synthetic drums + Trent's voice (multiplied), so uhh, I guess he was having her on. (Though maaaaybe NIN playing one of the festivals here in 2006 isn't totally out of the question.. They also played Wiesen in 2000, after all.)

Talking about pulling someone's leg: Never believe what others tell you until you've checked the facts yourself! :P I'd been told that someone had posted about NIN playing "Der Kommissar" as an encore in Berlin, and ahh, because it does make sense (IN A WAY!), I believed it - and actually passed the information on (hello theangelman, haha). But hmm, it turned out to be a joke. Well, at least I don't have to be jealous of the Germans anymore now. ;)

And StefanS, I very much agree with your last point (though not the thing about his Mum, heh). Besides, Trent has said himself (back in the 90's) that he sometimes thinks about giving head.. So there. :P

Oh, and thanks to the person who posted the videos. The quality really isn't all that good, but it's nice to have them anyway. (Too bad you didn't catch the *end* of "Hurt" - I would've liked to see that keyboard incident again!)
Master of the Ninth Arch
Oh, and because I'm sure that not everybody who's following this thread is also following the Bootleg Request thread:

There's a torrent of a recording of the Arena show now up on dimeadozen!! WHOOOO!! :D And it's even in FLAC format, yay!
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=46588

For those unfamiliar with Dime: They require (free) registration, and they only allow 100,000 members, but if you refresh the registration page often enough, you'll eventually be allowed to register (they remove about 200-300 inactive members each day = 200-300 free slots/day).

GO! RUN! DOWNLOAD! QUICKLY!

in reply of the german festival thing (i can only speak of the southside):
considering the fact, that the space in front of the stage was pretty filled with rammstein-fans who didn't seemed to show a lot of interest for nin, the southside show surely didn't kick off like a real nin gig with nin-fans only.
i stood second row and sang along the whole time, but i even if i couldn't jump or mosh where i stood, i didn't feel a lot of pressure from the back, so i guess the crowd really was pretty lame... (sorry, but anyway, the nin fan behind me and i did our best...)

I don't think so. As I said, becoming a member of dimeadozen isn't really all that difficult, but I could also burn it for you and send it to you. I'd have to ask for the money for postage/packaging etc. though, because I'm totally in the red (otherwise I'd share and spread the NIN love for free :)) - I just don't know how we'd go about that, seeing as I neither have paypal nor know how transferring money to bank accounts in other countries works..

yeah, probably just like i am thinking about the girl that's in my class giving head to me...
Hahaha. You wish!

From Details magazine, 1995 (April issue):
I think about giving head, though. I don't know why I'm saying this, but I think about that. I'd be good at giving head, because I know what...(laughs)...I mean, no one knows how to jack yourself off better than yourself, you know?
and..
The next day, Trent offers a postmortem: "I woke up in a cold sweat this morning, fearing I've revealed too much. I started getting that uneasy feeling". I am not sure what he means, and he doesn't elaborate. About half an hour later he sighs, under his breath, "The big headline: I COULD SUCK A MAN'S COCK..."
smalltowngirl wrote:Ahm, I know that this maybe is the wrong place for my request and I apologize in advance, but I already posted at the bootleg request but got no answers yet: There is a torrent from the Viennese show. Unfortunately I'm not able to download torrents at home and not allowed to download them in office. So if anyone can help me out and post some mp3s of that somewhere I would be the happiest girl :-) Drop me a line if you can do so.
What I said to h6a6t6e. :)

Thanks again to everyone who posted photos, video clips and links to concert reviews etc.!
Awww Alessandro and Aaron Buddyhead are just so fucking adorable. :P (sorry let me have my fangirl moment)
@kay: could you send me the disc with all the stuff from dimeadozen.org on it? my internet is pretty slow.... :(
i could send you the money to your bank account, that's no problem for me. and you would just have to send me the stuff quickly.
please write back to unterlaibchen@gmx.at
thanx.
@everybody: NIN forever!

i took about 40 pics at the vienna show! you can find them here! :-D http://www.maggiebear.com/arena/
aaaah, what an awesome concert!
thx to everybody who posted pics of the concert. yup, the videos suck but i'm certain next time u will smuggle a pro cam to the venue saint  btw, the audio bootleg martinick recorded (hosted on dimeadozen.org) is a wonderful memento of this concert. we were absolutely lucky as an audience, band was in great shape and the weather was fine. (no airconditioning problems in vienna) what i miss though was seing trent eating sachertorte and buying austrian polka records  anybody took pics of that?

cant belive its already 10 days ago, it was the first time i was able to see them, or lets say "him", live and it felt like i was put in some place where time doesnt exist.

they played all the great songs and some of the new ones, of course they're some missing, but after ~16years you can't play them all. - maybe the "version 2"-tour 2006 will feature a slightly different setlist so everyone is sattisfied.

imho:
+ getting smaller
+ right where it belongs
+ eraser
- love is not enough

my personal hightlight of the show was sthg i can never have - you know .. the drums in the middle of the song.. never heard that version before and i think it rocked.

here's a picture i took during the show; aaron is the best. ;p "rumpelstilzchen"

For some unknown reason he doesn't like Germany. Let's send a question about it to access.

I think it was just an innocent joke and you guys are reading way too much into it.
Master Traveler
he maybe has some prejudices about germany originating from his past experiences there. don't worry, he'll prolly explain/apologize soon. he may be a lil juvenile in his reactions sometimes but is a smart guy after all. besides, maybe it wasn't him who posted those comments on the nin site, wasn't it sheridan filming the videos?

schaut mal auf
http://www.laut.de/vorlaut/news/2005/06 ... /index.htm

I will pay $125 for one.

I have a question about Vienna Austria but not the show so I don't want to post it here. If you have some time and don't mind, please see my thread under Speak Your Mind "Vienna Austria"

oh my god!!! one year after the concert, i found the voice of my brother on the recorded concert of vienna! on the first track "01_Pinion" on 0:42 u can hear him say "tschuldigen, spielt da jetzt eh Rammstein?!" (he was joking ... AND drunk!)

that just freaked me out! ...

nearly one year...and still feels like yesterday :)
