i was the one who screamed michael a few times and hate, but you didnt recognize me...
I was the pretty tall guy wearing a black "the fragile" t-shirt, and was standing behind my red-headed girlfriend. I was also between Trent and Jeordie, closer to Jeordie though...
Anyway, here is my comprehensive concert review... now that I've slept and am in a better mood I should be able to recall the evens a bit better.
We arrived in Oberhausen at about 3pm, after a 9 hour train ride and realised no lockers were available in the trainstation, so we had to search for a while to find someplace we could hide our other bag of stuff while in the concert... eventually everything was okay, and we went to the Area4 grounds just in time to hear Finch playing a few songs on the main stage. As neither of us are Finch fans, we went to the tent stage and listened to who we believe may have very well been "the golden horses." Anyway, we sat down and meditated for a while, trying to pull all our energy together, but whatever. After this band finished, we made our way to the main stage where motorhead was playing. Waited at the 2nd fence for a while, until they were finished playing. Motorhead really, really, really, really sucks, and it cannot be denied. But anyway, I got kind of scared for a moment as I saw bottle after bottle of bear being tossed into the center area of the crowd (I later realised they were plastic bottles, but I was sure they were glass). Anyway, the time came, motorhead finally shut the fuck up (they played like 20-30 minutes too long) and left. We then rushed forward, but were still only in 5-9th row or something. The Beatsteaks (from Berlin) showed up and the fans wen't fucking insane. Not cool insane, not "Hey man, I'm gonna hop around and have fun" insane, but "I am going to push you down and stomp on your face" insane... so the two of us tried our best not to be murdered during this performance... and in a large way we did. A few things are worth mentioning about the Beatsteaks though... 1.) They apparently don't know how to write songs as nearly every song played was a cover. 2.) Their fans all look like 13 year old boys, but must've had really bad childhoods or something as they were all crazy, 3.) They must've watched the Dresden Dolls and mastered the art of the "unending song" (see my Berlin review for more information). At any rate, at some point the Beatsteaks stopped playing (although they did say several times it was an honour to play before Nine Inch Nails) and they began the stage setup. We pushed a little closer... setup took a while... I saw Jeordie standing a round in the back for a while... and sometime Trent just appeared on stage and Wish began. I didn't hear an intro, but maybe I wasn't paying attention... anyway, that setlist seems accurate:
wish
sin
march of the pigs
the line begins to blur
something i can never have
the hand that feeds
terrible lie
burn
closer
big comedown
love is not enough
gave up
suck
hurt
you know what you are
starfuckers
head like a hole
During the show some pissy, girlie, loser guy kept elbowing me and me Julie in the face and head and neck, and was really annoying. To make a long story short, I finally got the pansy-boy to stop.
Highlights (for me) were probably sin and big comedown (and starfuckers maybe, although as i said before, i would've liked to have understood what trent was sayingn). The crowd didn't seem as crazy as they were for the beatsteaks which pleased me, however they were push forward every bit as much. There isn't really much to say about the performance itself... Trent seemed to be in a better mood than he was in Berlin as he moved around more and squirted water around more I think. Aaron was as hyper as ever, and knocked over Jerome's cymbols at some point, and basically flew around the stage like a madman. Trent smashed a guitar sometime at the beginning by simply dropping it from the stage and letting the side hit sometime... which the security quickly move away despite the masses of begging fans. The video of Aaron at the end captures that stunt pretty well... although the amp was already broken from earlier in the show (to the best of my knowledge).
At the end, during Head Like a Hole, I was watching Jeordie most of the time, and held my hand out and he threw a pic directly to me. Unfortunately I missed, and I swear her threw another just for me (which unfortunately I also missed)... but whatever, now Jeordie seems a lot nicer to me... Trent also threw a water bottle I caught (!!) but some other guy pulled it from my hand promptly afterwards. Oh well, 5 more chances to catch something I guess.
I'm very sore today.

It's because they are the worst in the world.
First of all, shut the fuck up. Second of all, post in a more appropriate thread (like the update thread in the nine inch nails section). Your thread in no way related to Area4, and your shitty observations from SSF 2 years ago are also irrelevant in this matter.
