Wow. Even better than the 2nd night at the Astoria imo.

Now I must go lay down as i'm totally knackered.

I was a little more destroyed than the first night. Good set. Liked the addition of "Reptile" and "The Day The World Went Away." Didn't like the Prince Valiant-looking fucker in front of me, getting in my space.

Kudos to Chuck. You're a great concert partner.

Crowd seemed much better than at the Astoria

Unfortunately I missed Saul Williams due to the wonderful London Underground and delays on the Metropolitian Line, only got there about 10 mins before NIN came on still got down the front though !

Much much much better than last night. It seems that every second show is better than the night before........
I love the way how everyone in the crowd sings along with trent in an american accent
I was DIRECTLY in front of Trent the whole show could see him all the time. The crush was horrible again and the amount of people being lifted out didnt help either.
I met some american girl who works for a record company and who was in the crowd she gave me and my friend the giddy samarui stickers to the aftershow party. There we met Jerome Dillon and Aaron North i talked to Jerome for a minute said i really enjoed the show and he asked me my name etc. Got Aarons autograph Alessandro and Jeordie looked deep in conversation with other epople so i didnt want to intrude. Trent didnt show up which i can understand why. Im not lying and the giddy samauri can put up the proof later. But its so fucking weird that Jerome seemed like a normal guy.

The show seemed to go on for ages and the setlist was awesome its the best i have seen NIN live so far....

Doesn't everyone sing with an American accent? I wouldn't like to hear people singing with a London accent. Or Scottish.

I had that camera in my face for 4 songs. If any of that footage is used, trust me, its in a broad glasweigian accent. Fo' real.

I'll post my thoughts and stuff when I get home and have stopped bouncing all over the place. I swear people are gonna think I have touretts.

EnemyAirship and I are just trying to catch up on everything before we head off.

I will say, the second show kicked the ass of the first. Can't wait til Glasgow.

This blew last nights show away. BLEW IT AWAY! In more ways than one. Here's my story

Got to the queue with my lil bro at about 6pm to find it wasn't that long yet but seeing as we didn't mind where we were standing in the venue it didn't really matter to us. Said quick hi to Azure and co and headed on up the queue. Then the heavens opened up and we got pissed on from up on high. It didnt help that we were standing under some kind of roof gutter that poured extra water on us (this is under the stage door in case anyone goes to Brixton and it rains again DON'T STAND THERE). Anyway we had a jolly chat with the guys in front of us and watched a photo shoot taking place to our left for the remainder of the queuing time.
When we were inside we stood by the cage in the center where we met Rob Sheridan. He recognised me from some of the stuff I had done and emails and we had a nice chat with him about the shows and his european haircut (lol) and my brother took a couple of pictures of me and Rob. He then asked us if we could look after his stuff and keep his place for when he was filming NIN. I said sure thing and he said he would get us some after show passes for our trouble. No trouble at all. So we waited patiently.

Saul Williams was even better tonight sporting a Public Enemy t-shirt, his teasing of NIN fans was hilarious for those of us who got it and his set of political statements and black politics in general was mesmerising. This guy is great and I cannot wait to see him again.

Then it was time for Nine Inch Nails. Rob took his place, proclaimed "I love this spot!" and as promised handed out the passes to us. What a storming set they played last night. Out of all the shows I saw, that was the one. The whole crew looked like they were revved up for something big and the performance was one of the most well thought out I have seen them do. Highlights for me included The Big Comedown, Something I Can Never Have, Closer and You Know What You Are. I hope that this show makes it to the final cut of any live DVD, amazing.

So my brother Paul went home early and I had a spare pass so I went looking fo rthe other ETSers I missed mainly because I felt bad I haven't spent much time with them and because of the help and advice they have all at some point given me. So I went looking for Azure where Storm Roberts who takes some fantastic pictures of these shows stopped me to say hello before realising she'd lost a film from her camera and we went down to look for it. Once found we went to the merch stand to find the others.
So I found them and to my horror, they all had aftershow passes! Partly due to Spiral membership I was told but also to do with the fact they have been consistently punctual great people. The only guys who didnt have passes were Azure and Enemy Airship so I gave Azure a pass and she declined (she declined a few hoping for Glasgow opportunities) so it was passed along to EA. Another pass turned up and so Azure finally got one she couldnt say no to and we all headed up to the after show.

There we met several members of the band, got stuff signed, drank beer, saw Gary Numan declined playing x-box and watched as a nice girl get dragged around by Rob to show off her amazing Twiggy t-shirt.

Then I went to my mates house and fell asleep.

Another excellent gig, I think I prefered Monday's gig, mainly cos my friend collapsed from the heat just after Hurt so I had to head out of the pit. Also think the band seemed more into it on Monday. Both sets were stunning, but getting up this morning to be at work for 7am hurt like a bitch.

Trent spoke a bit more then Monday though, forget precise words but something along the lines of 'Thanks for being a great audience' and then during Starf*ckers when the crowd didn't carry on chanting 'dont you' he laughed and said something like 'Thats all you've got after I complimented you?' I think we made up for it for singing HLAH twice as loud though

Not quite how it happened. There were just others who should have recieved one before me. On both nights. It would be cool to get backstage in Glasgow cos its my home date, as well as the fact I am trying to get a piece of Aaron's guitar signed for Ben. We'll see. It wont kill me if I don't. I'm loving the gigs. I mean LOVING it. Thats more important (especially after all the lost cash). I can't believe how much fun I am having.

Rocked. God, I love the Academy. Clear sightlines, a gorgeous building. The crowd was in a good mood: not crazy where I was, but everyone happy, and happy to give me enough room to dance.

I missed Saul Williams, but will get to see him twice next week, so s'okay.

Parts of it were better than the Astoria (band "gelling", more Jeordie and Aaron activity, bigger lights, some songs sounded better), some not so good (just being amongst the first shows in years, the compactness of it).

Songs have already been posted, here were my highlights/observations:
You Know What You Are? - didn't sound as good to me as Astoria. Muddy? Lazy?
March of the pigs - great
SICNH - finally heard it live...ahhh
THTF - fucking rocked this time, now that much of the crowd knows it. Dance fever!
With Teeth - hey, they're playing more from WT this time, good. Liked it
Burn - set seemed to slow down a bit here
Reptile - still may favourite live
Love is not enough - my least favourite WT track, still
Even Deeper - love it!
Getting Smaller - YEAH! Loved hearing this live
TDTWWA - always a crowd-pleaser

I was with my brother (who had seen Fragility 2.0 with me) and his wife who are visiting from Canada, and two other friends (first NIN live for the others). They all loved it.

Early consensus from this thread seems to be that it was better than night #1, so I'm feeling better about not making it to that show. Now to see what next week holds!

HAHA!! Yeah who got to go to the after show party both nights, thats right me!!! and on the second night a whole bunch us including the great azure. So during the day I went in early as well for the spiral thingy, so I got my litho finally signed by trent and jeordie, who i didnt manage the night before to get them to sign it. We got to watch the sound check and get pics with trent, was awesome! So I was speaking to Jerome at the after show party and he mentioned that NIN were coming back for a arena UK tour early next year!!! Well all i can say is trent was such a nice guy as well as all of them..................................maybe except jeordie! lol

Anyway!! Off to Glasgow next, see you all there!!

I flew in from Belgium, spent a lot of fuckin money, waited for 6 hours in the queue outside, and I didnt get anything.

That setlist looks fucking awesome! Im hoping for a lot of the same in Manchester on Sunday! If i handt been working id have probably gone to a few more dates... I know im not a particularly active member but it would be nice to meet up with some like minded folks. Hope you all have a good time either way!

I spent my time in the waiting queue for the first Brixton gig with a guy and a girl from London, the guy was wearing an "Alien Sex Fiend" t-shirt, the girls name was Laura, really cool peeps, but I lost track of them in the craziness that was going on in the front rows.

Never met the people you admire. They are normally dickheads. Or in Trent's case. Big queers.

Travelling up to Brixton went smoothly and we were easily able to find the venue using the tried and tested method of walking about in a random fashion. We spent a short time hanging out with the loosers who were already queueing outside (this was at half three or something), and then we met 'Eric' at the front door, who gave us cool green wristbands which made us feel sexy and special. Here comes the good part, because thoose with green wristbands (about 15 of us), who had been contacted through e-mail because we were 'premium spiral members' (the offical NIN fan club thing), were let into the venue to watch the sound check. It was extremely surreal, just seeing the band doing random crap on stage. Jerome Dillon waved to me, and Trent complained about the microphone smelling of 'chips' (which Aaron North translated to 'crisps'). The soundcheck was very cool, kinda like a little personal concert for the 15 of us who were there. Trent was bouncing around like it was the proper concert. During the soundcheck they played 'Even Deeper', 'The Frail', 'The Wretched' and 'Love is not Enough' (I think that's what it was). Then the band came down to meet us and sign random crap. They were all really nice and polite, except Jeordie, who didn't even shake my hand and seemed really grumpy. I got a photo of the band signed by everyone and mine and josh's copies of With_Teeth signed by Trent. I also got some sexy photos taken with Aaron and Trent.

After that cool little episode was over, Ashok and I went down for a drink at the pub, before meeting up with the others in the queue. However, our green wristbands allowed us to use the front entrace and avoid the wait, and thus we managed to get good places near the front. Some wanker called Lee pushed in... he was annoying. The actual performance was amazing, and I preferred it to the Astoria gig. I can never remember setlists, but it was a cool selection of songs. I reakon I got some quite good pictures, so stay tuned to see thoose.

So all in all, an amazing day that I thought was substantialy better than what I would normally be doing (sitting on my arse at home eating small rodents I'd caught with my many many traps).

I have to stop reading this thread, because it seems like all of the world except me got backstage!

Heh, I didn't actually get back stage, we were just invited into the venue floor early to watch the soundcheck and meet the band. We did walk through some random corridors though.

i went up with DaveyB except i'm cooler than him...

Jerome Dillon is SUCH a brilliant drummer, his soundcheck was really an exhibition of that, its almost as if nin's music is a restraint for him, after seeing him really let go i was pretty shocked as to why he STILL looks kinda weak and stuff, he plays like he should be some built mofo on speed. Hey, he even carried on playing while Aaron North was jumping into his drumkit and throwing his guitar at him.
He was a pretty cool guy though, he signed my Machine Head ticket and seemed very confused when i asked him if he would be playing Ten Ton Hammer, felt a lil bit sorry for him as he was like the only one who didn't really get the joke >:( it was pretty amusing that they all introduced themselves when they came up (except jeordie) as if we wouldn't know who they were...
Strangely enough, he is not actually in any way camp in person...

Aaron North is a fucking monkey. I watched him jump from a standing position, onto a keyboard on a stand which was on a raised base and from there jump back off, all without missing a single note on guitar. In soundchecks he was pretty funny, he seemed to be most bothered about practising various effects than anything else.
In person he was a cool guy with a good sense of humour; upon me telling him his last band was shit and telling him how i was rather annoyed at first to find he was joining NIN he explained that the song i was judging him on was only submitted for the album in question as a good natured "fuck-off" to Danny Lohner and was a crappy four track demo that by his own admission was awful. He seemed very surprised that i wanted a picture with him too.

Alessandro was pretty shy, he was really quiet and seemed genuinely surprised by people wanting him to sign stuff, everytime Jerome introduced himself he would mimic Jerome in a stupid voice saying "Jeroooome". Oh and he was very camp, he looked quite put out when Aaron jumped on his keybards and got pretty scared whenever Aaron or Jeordie threw things in his direction, he was also very very gentle when "destroying his equipment" (i.e. slowly pushing over one keyboard stand)

Jeordie White was friendly enough to me i guess just not so much as everyone else, he was like "hey, how are you" signed my stuff and said "bye" that was it, he seems slightly aloof, but hey as a member of Marilyn Manson's band he's probably been conditioned not to attract attention to himself.

Trentius was a really down to earth guy, he looked a bit like the incredible hulk with the muscles, but was really smiley and laughy and jokey. He was very appreciative of everyones support i think and seemed very happy to give me the story on closure (slipping insults at john malm as he went). He also grinned and raised his eyebrows at me when coming on stage heh >:)

some random guy e-mailed me on monday inviting me backstage and early entrance for monday's show. unfortunately I couldn't make it up and I didn't go but it sounds like it was cool. I want to get premium spiral membership but taking the asumption that touring will cease for a while I don't think I would enjoy all the benefits. The show last night was amazing, I had a really good night. Love the venue, definitely a great place to see one of my favourite bands.

Saul Williams was really really good also. Gonna buy his album when I get the money.

Ok so HOW MANY people actually got to meet the band?

I had gone to the July 4th show, which was a good show in my opinion, and I was pleased to hear Dead Souls even if it did sound kinda crappy. Saul Williams was a pleasure, but this is the thread for the night of the 5th.
It was the morning after the previous show, and I awoke in a room with Kleptonin, Frankie and Shotgun Duchess. Kinda hungry, we sprawled out onto the streets of London to find a decent coffee joint or something. We slipped into a nearby shopping centre and started heading up an escalator, when we were beckoned by some guy in a green shirt with a clipboard. Turns out he wanted us to be part of an audience for something, as some people hadn't shown up for it. We tell him we just want breakfast, but then he seals the deal by offering us free coffee and muffins. Barely given enough time to order the drinks, we were whisked away up to another floor, which turned out to be an elaborate channel 5 studio.
Yeah.
We were ushered onto some benches and were filmed as the audience for "The Wright Stuff" with various celebrity tv chefs and soap stars. It was completely bizarre, and I assume everybody there really just wanted breakfast. So if you caught The Wright Stuff on tuesday then you inadvertently saw me, Kleptonin, Frankie and SD.
After that 'experience' we went to Pizza Hut, after which SD left for home. Then we went to see Kung Fu Hustle under Wix's advice, which was pretty awesome. Great fun had been had, and then I said goodbye to Frankie and Kleptonin as they head home to 'the middle of nowhere'. I had a show to catch, so I made my way over to the queue.

Azure had saved me a space at the front, so I joined her there, with many other familiar faces. Thanks to that, I was able to get against the rail, about two people to the right of Trent. Saul Williams came on - always a pleasure. I don't think anybody out there didn't enjoy Saul. When the roadies came on to set NIN up, one of them taped a setlist to the front of the stage. It was then that we knew they were going to play Reptile and The Day The World Went Away, and lo, the show was indeed incredible. Of the three shows I've seen, it was definitely the best. Trent put a lot of energy into it, as did the other band members. I specifically remember Aaron North getting stuck upside down in a box with his legs hanging out while still strumming at one point.
Songs were screamed, guitars were smashed, crowdsurfers were ejected by security, and tambourines were jammed up my ass (true story), and the show was finally over. blown away, we all met up behind the merch booth.
Owen came over and handed me a backstage pass, so the night wasn't over yet. I bought a lithograph poster and took it with me to the after show party.
At the party, in our group, there was me, Azure, Owen, SilkTwistedDagger, Ben, Christo, Storm and one or two of their associates. I'm fairly sure the vast majority of the others at the party were friends of the band, roadies, friends of the roadies, or celebrity fans. Not a lot of the fans from the queue were there, it's a huge exaggeration to say getting backstage was easy or that lots of people were given passes, so don't feel bad or excluded if you didn't get one. Us getting any was sheer luck.

I met Jerome first. He signed my poster and we talked about what they were recording from the show, and stuff. He was a nice guy, and really didn't seem to mind the flock of people with shit to sign. It turns out that they simply record everything, and are only going to use stuff if it comes out rally well.
I met Alessandro shortly after, who was also really nice. As he signed my poster he told me that, unsigned, it would sell on ebay for hundreds of dollars. Turns out he's right. He also told something along the lines of "you won't believe me when i tell you, but i'm really enjoying the weather." I don't believe him.
Aaron was talking and I didn't want to interrupt, and Jeordie was supposedly around somewhere but I'd heard from the other people there that he's an ass, so I spent a while sipping beer with people. I grabbed Aaron's autograph, again on the litho, on the way out. I expected him to be arrogant or something considering the way he acts on stage, but no it turns out he's also pretty cool.
I'm hoping that on the 13th I can get a spiral member to take my litho in for a signing to get the last two signatures (or to be the guest of a member myself.)
Here's to hoping. See you guys next show, it was a blast.

It was a great show but as I've been going to Nine Inch Nails gigs since the early 90's I must admit that the live band don't quite (with the exception Of Jerome) come close to the 'Spiral' line up.... (my opinion of course, just being an old retro) Good to hear Reptile though and I thought Monday's show was better song wise, then again yesterday seemed a longer set... but the live sound seemed better last night...

Head Like A Hole seemed not quite the same without Lohner or The Finckmesiter, just don't like the widdling guitar on it but respect to Aaron for getting really in to it.......Trent as always was on top form and seems to be built like a brick shithouse these days...

Was it me or did Jeordie look bored......?

Good to see a nice mix of people at the gig too... Makes a refreshing change...

there were 15 us let into the soundcheck and meetn'greet before the show. I dunno about the afterparty though.

might want to put those on yousendit. apparently they will take me over an hour and a half to download each. the effort is appreciated though!

ok, after almost no going because the crush from monday ALMOST KILLED ME, i slept on the bus from croydon to brixton and got to the venue by 4, queue jumping the hell, and just intime for the monsoon rain. people gave away passes as you have heard, but all of our 1337 clan got in. but more about that later.

as i had a seated ticket today ( i swapped with ben because i didnt want to die tonight) i was on cloakroom duty. sat front row across from the VIP section, and had a stellar view. i urge everyone to go to at least one nin gig seated, because i personally felt that that was the first time i got to appreciate the show as a whole, and the whole band dynamic.

setlist was a million times better than yesterday. pretty much the march 31 show with gems like geting smaller (flipflop=ripped off)

left a song early to meet azure outside the backstage entrance. once we all got our tix we headed in and the first famous face i saw was gary numan (daddy!) what an amazingly down to earth lovely person he, and his wife, were (grammar!) next i shook jeordie's hand and said "good show" and got the above noted reception.

jerome was adorable, he let me make a diorhea (sp) joke. for some stupid reason, i was surprised to hear an american accent

alessandro and aaron (the bionic man) were also lovely. (Alessandro WILL BE IN THE NEXT EDITION ON US KEYBOARD MAGAZINE - SPECIAL FEATURE)

said hi to rob and trevor, the guitar tech who got most of us passes. no trent that night, which was alright seeing as i did get to anally molest him the night before.

oh and by the way r00t - the people who got backstage passes were either a) premium spiral members, b) friends of the band/crew, c) not able to be disclosed to you because youre not special enough. bitch.

I just got an email with my invite for the meet n greet on Friday and that said I can have 1 guest with me. I wish I'd checked my emails a few days earlier though, then I could have arranged to get in for the sound check on Tuesday. That would have been far easier as I only went up with one mate for that gig, sadly I'm going with two mates on Friday so have to leave one of them outside!!!!!

Cant wait to meet the guys and I'm really looking forward to another staggeringly awesome performance.

I really enjoyed this gig, my first time seeing NIN.

Joined the queue at about 6:50 but still managed to get right at the front of the stage. Thought Saul Williams was amazing. NIN was absolutely amazing also but it sucked loads when everyone rushed the front of the stage as soon as they came on and started a small pit. It was packed enough as it was and people still pushed through and me being the skinny little runt i am, i got absolutely crushed and there were a few occasions where i couldn't breathe let alone move.

In all fairness it was stupid on my part to expect to be at the front and be comfortable and i doubt the band would of liked everyone stood there staring rather than getting into it. After March of the Pigs i made a beeline to escape to the side of the stage where i could enjoy the show without being elbowed to buggery but no matter how many times i said, "excuse me please" no-one would budge, so it was lame having to barge past a bunch of people.

Other than that though, that was easily the best concert i've ever been too. The venue itself was really nice and it was cool how they made the ceiling and sides look like it was outdoors.

Fave part of the gig was one of the songs near the end (i forget which one) Jeordie's guitar wasn't working so he decided to spend the whole song smashing it up, singing and looking completely lost. Aaron was very entertaining to watch aswell.

Looking forward to the UK arena tour where i won't be dumb enough to stand at the front where everyone is 3 times my size

A tour dvd would be great, I notcied a camera guy on the balcony and also a fe w cameras floating around. The new tracks warrent a live DVD and I didnt expect them to convert so well live. An amazing night! Did anyone else noticed the arsehole who threw a CD on stage? Nearly hit Aaron in the face!

Was a really good gig, and Aaron North was fantastic, but this line-up is really missing Danny - Jordie is just not a very good guitar player. Also Aaron obbiously can't play 'Hurt' hence TR has to play it himself.

Also - I can't abide choreographed stage carnage - swapping nice guitars for cheap ones just before the smashing starts.

It is NOT obvious that Aaron can't play 'Hurt'. If he can't play 'Hurt', he doesn't belong behind a keyboard. A student of one or two months could play that song, seriously. Trent probably just wanted a change.

I hear what you're saying about contrived chaos, but switching guitars doesn't mean it's "planned", necessarily. It could be a "just in case" measure; with certain songs where the mood might bring them to do that, so they plan accordingly. It doesn't mean they WILL smash it. I saw them twice in the U.S., and there was no guitar-smashing either time. Yet they did change guitars several times. Maybe they just truly wanted the different tones.

And really, isn't the whole show a form of contrived chaos?

I think it's more emotional and passionate when Trent plays hurt himself, doesn't sound too hard to play, but when trent plays and sings it I think it gives it a better feel but that's just my opinion.

I agree, but having now seen Aaron's playing style - swing/scrub/spit - I can't see him doing some delicate & sensitive finger picking that 'Hurt' requires. What I did enjoy was the assortment of guitars that he employed - Trent's gold Les Paul that Robin used to play, other Trent guitars - the Parker Fly and a black Les Paul. Aaron's own guitars were the white and red Hagstroms - the white one features in THTF video. During the gig, he only abused his Hagstroms, apart from the nasty black Strat copy that bit the big one at the end.

But more important than this - and the fact that Jeordie was having a dreadful gig - is how much more abuse Mr.Cortini can take from Mr. North onstage. He had water sprayed in his face, and a guitar broken over his keyboard (which was built like a tank I noticed - when Aaron was jumping on it, it didn't budge).

It was a great gig, but all I really wanted to say was that they don't sound like a band right now, in contrast to Robin/Danny/Charlie who were familiar and tight - the positive flip to this is that the new line-up is real edgy - and I like that. It'll be interesting to see how it develops

Poor Cortini. They gotta pick on the italian dude! But his keyboard probably didn't budge because Aaron can't weigh anymore than 125lbs. That dude is Tiiiiny!

Good gig, really good. Jeordie was slow, but still did well. I was a tad confused and sad to see Only was not included in the set. But I assume they will play that next week...

B-E-S-T FUCKING NIN SHOW I'VE E-V-E-R SEEN!

Sorry - had to shout it loudly.

I came outta that gig with the biggest shit-eating grin you've ever seen. I'd split with my partner about 2 weeks previously, and after 48 hours of frantic searching for the pair of tickets a friend had bought me as a birthday present, realised that they were not in my possession at all. He'd fuckin' got 'em. Luckily, got some replacements through the kindness of another human being, and although not standing, turned out to be great seats. All was well with the world.

The Frail/The Wretched was a great choice as opener, I was getting so sick and tired of the 'let's start with Terrible Lie' schtick.

Although they were great, they didn't come into their own I felt until With Teeth and Terrible Lie - these both took the roof off the fucking place!

From there on in, it was a case of holding on for dear life lol

Awesomeness, so much fun - the guys really seemed to be feeding off the crowd (we were really great huh!) and the crowd were feeding of the band - just as a great gig should be.

8 out of 10 (points deducted for Aaron scaring poor little Alessandro, and bothering Jerome whilst hes trying to work) LOL

Seriously though - truly a kick-ass show, It would have been perfection if they'd dropped 'Right Where It Belongs' in there too - but can;t complain as that set was lonnnnnng!

ok, finally here i am... first of all i have just realized that i was with all ETS members without realizing it... i am the blond girl w/ ponytail that was next to you all on both concerts
and the one that was squashed on ben's back by that fat bitch who stuck her damned elbow in my throat causing me to almost faint and to be pulled out of the pit
anyway... great shows, as always
and i found a way to get to the aftershow party where i realized that all of the band mambers are really lovely, except for Jeordie (and i really don't give a damn about him anyway)
I talked a lot with Alessandro and his friends, really nice guys who saved me from two drunken guys who kept on bugging me
anyway i envy a lot who's going to be to the next shows...

Yes it does, but (at least in theory) you have to have a ticket that says "circle" to sit up there. The majority of tickets say "stalls standing."

Here's a couple of (fuzzy!!) snaps that I took from the gallery:




(I'd just bought a new camera and these shots were the first ones I'd taken on it!! You may notice on the second pic that Trent has tucked his head under his arm JUST as I hit the shutter button!! Feel free to cut-'n'-paste a spare Trent Head onto it!! I was trying to get the whole band in one shot, but Aaron kept disappearing...)

The highlights of this gig were getting to spend some FAB Hilarious Quality Time with the folks in the queue, despite the rain!! (Anyone else remember the Religeous Nutter with the megaphone?? And my friend asking to have his picture taken with him?)

... and getting to sit in on the soundcheck and meet the band afterwards as part of the premium Spiral membership thing! Fab!! The guys are - and here comes an understatement - a very sweet bunch of chaps indeed!! Very easy to talk to, all of 'em!!

... and the concert was bloody AWESOME!!!

Ah well, next up for me is a trip out to Cleveland, OH to visit a very good friend of mine who's stopping by her hometown. The sights-'n'-sounds of which she has been itching to show me for AGES - I've never been to the USA before (but apparently I can do a good America accent...) and staying with a friend is always the best way to see the most interesting bits of a new country! - and then we're going see NIN at the Gund Arena (... amongst other visitor-y things that she and I will no doubt plan out!!)

Oh YAY!!! Should be fun: an NIN concert in their hometown, I get to Play Tourist for a couple of weeks and MOST importantly, hang out with a buddy!!

I already mentioned this in another thread but thought I should add it here since it's pretty important:

I accidentally uploaded disc 2 in mono and didn't realize it until after about 40 people had downloaded the show. If you were one of them, please delete your disc 2 folder now, return to DIME and download the corrected torrent featuring both discs in stereo. It's torrent #51886. If you downloaded 100% of the original torrent, just select the same directory for the new torrent and it will know that your disc 1 is ok.

Normally when annoying idiots are talking near me while I'm recording a show, I just move somewhere else. Unfortunately there was little opportunity to move at this show, and after looking around I could see that annoying talking idiots were EVERYWHERE in the audience.

But hey, a recording with too much crowd noise is better than no recording.

this gig was a special one for me..if anyone knows of a video bootleg (even on ebay ) feel free to post here..

I saw two professional video cameras: one at the soundboard (about 15 feet behind me), and one on the balcony. I think it's a safe bet that both were being run by people hired by the band, since Trent talked on nin.com about how the London shows were being filmed for a forthcoming DVD. I'm usually pretty good at spotting audience filmers, and didn't see any at this gig. The fact that Brixton Academy does not allow video recording was definitely a factor, but a larger issue is that the place is too small for someone with a camera to blend into the crowd.

I did manage to smuggle in my own miniDV camera, but at the show I decided that it wasn't worth the risk and left it in my backpack. If I had been caught, the DAT tape would have been destroyed as well.

It's never too late to start, and it's very easy. I started taping when I was 17 with a borrowed microcassette recorder, and then upgraded to a crappy Sony cassette recorder that cost $30.

My standard wisdom on this subject: a bootleg that doesn't sound like it was professionally recorded is better than no bootleg at all. Also, don't count on someone else to tape the show, just do it!

Good philosophy, actually, as i wish still that a bootleg of the area4 festival would surface... although it doesn't seem to be likely.

I looked at some md recorders from ebay yesterday... but i really don't have any idea what is good... though the berlin bootleg was taped using one, so i figure they're sufficient... any advice?

Most MD recorders are comparable. The important thing is how good your microphones are.

the gig was aaawesome!!! i wanna say thankz 4 giving me, my sister,cara + my friend v.i.p.s !!! We met you guys at manchester after me and my friend turned 12.
