First up - The Meet and Greet:

We got in the venue for a little past the 4:30pm that we was meant to meet Eric but that is to be expected (when has any band been on time?). There were about 25 of us that had invites for the meet and greet. We got given a little speech from Eric about what was going to happen today and with the Fan Club, and then it was time to go in.

When we did get in NIN where already half way through the first song, and they proceeded to play another 4/5 songs. The quality of the sound blew me away, its amazing how much better it sounded without having a full house of people. As has been said by other people who have been to these things it really is like having NIN play in your living room.

After the sound check we had to line up and the band worked their way down the line for a quick chat, signing stuff and photos. It did feel a little pressured with the amount of time that you got but I think everybody had enough time to do what they needed to do. I personally felt a little bad as I didn't really know what to say to the rest of the band and came out with some lame ass questions like: "are you enjoying the tour?"

Once that had finished we got given another little speech from Eric and was given our wristbands to get in early.

The support, Eagles of Death Metal:

I heard that Trent picked them for the supporting act as he is a real fan of theirs - I could see him standing on the backstage VIP balcony watching them during this performance and he was joined for some of it by Jordie.

It was obvious that the crowd didn't know what to make of the Eagles of Death Metal to begin with, but they played hard and managed to get over with the crowd by about the third song. They played a good, short set - one of the better support acts I've seen.

The main event, NIN:

NIN came out pretty quick after the Eagles of Death Metal - I guess because the venue had a 10:30pm curfew (it turns into a nightclub post weekend gigs) and they wanted to give us the full set. The crowd was really hot for NIN all-night - it looked like Trent in particular got a real buzz out of us (may be that is just wishful thinking )

They didn't really play anything different from the standard set lists for this tour that I could work out.

Really enjoyed the gig, got to be my joint fav gig of all time along with the Metallica one where I had tickets for that mosh pit in the middle of the stage.

I think people aren't replying yet because it ended at like 10:30 last night and it's only about 7:30 in the morning here now. You must understand, we got our asses throughly rocked, that takes time to recover from.

As such, I'll just say it fucking rocked and let someone else more verbose fill in the details. Venue is absolutely, unbelievably tiny; even in the balcony you're getting a top-notch close-up view of the action. The opening band, bless their hearts, got kinda a bad reaction from the crowd but soldiered on for ages. The lead singer's mustache alone should've gotten an ovation.

After what seemed like a lifetime T-Diddy and company came on. Yes, it was really fucking good, not really too much of a deviation from the other shows on this tour, but hey. Opened with The Wretched (I think, it's all a blur now), closed with Head Like a Hole. I stayed in the balcony and wish to god I'd gotten out on the floor now, as standing still and watching without movement really isn't my thing. Oh well.

Two thumbs up. You can't get much better than seeing them in a teeny-tiny club, to be honest.

Was also at the meet and greet and it was a really special experience. Got to see Even Deeper, The Frail, The Wretched and Reptile, then autographs, chat and photo's. Well worth the Spiral membership fee in my opinion!

Managed to find a great view on the balcony in front of Trent - no way was I risking the crush downstairs!
Awesome show - every other band will pale in comparison after this. Can't wait until Manchester tomorrow!

Hey, add 'Suck' to the setlist - how could I forget that one!

And they started with the Beside You In Time intro.

What a gig! The crowd were really up for it. Eagles of Death Metal rocked - even though some of the crowd were just there to see NIN and didn't mind telling them that. Still , they won them over in the end.

As for NIN - wow! Trent seemed really into it - gave a really intense performance, and even though he didn't talk to the crowd much - a few thankyou's here and there, I got the feeling he was enjoying it. Aaron is crazy - he handles the guitar like he's fighting a battle with it! At the end of the set, he and Jeordie had a water fight - chucking bottles at each other, and at Alessandro (poor guy!).

Closer, Wish, Starfuckers Inc, Terrible Lie and Hurt were all highlights for me. Especially Wish - that was just awesome!

The sound was amazing - I don't think I noticed any fuck ups (although that could be because I was having such a good time!) It was just amazing - at the end, the crowd sang along to every world of Hurt, Starfuckers and Head Like A Hole. Fantastic!

Can't wait for the next tour!

Still in a daze really, was absolutely amazing. Gave up trying to see after about the third song being 5” and all, so got my self in the crowd. The atmosphere was incredible, the sound quality was awesome.

I can’t remember any of the set list but was completely blown away. I saw loads of people that haven’t been around for years so that was an added bonus.

If any one has got photos would be eternally grateful. But a friend of mine is an amateur photographer and did see him walking round with a fucking big camera. He was in the DJ box up stairs all night so guessing he got some really good pics, will post the web site address when my brain starts functioning properly again.

My god what a fantastic night and one I wont forget, all other bands will pale in comparison now.

I was expecting more intensity from the mosh and was a little disappointed at that, but I think that more due to the pacing of the show, there was a lull kinda in the middle of the set and it was hard to break.

Played reptile and TDTWWA, which made my night, the atmosphere in the academy was elctric, I have never felt such a palpable feeling of tension before a gig like I did last night.

Fucking amazing is what it was and now I shall attempt to give a rudimentary setlist. I think I may have missed a song or two.

Trent really seemed to like the crowd and I liked it when he was trying to get us to be quiet during the "Don't you" part of starfuckers, I think everyone was too excited for that.

Eagles of Death metal were great and I think they got a pretty good response considering it was a NIN crowd.

All in all a great night, though absolutely boiling hot, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I think I may have got the last Lithograph too.

Roll on Manchester and London. Woohoo.

what a fucking incredible show.

Eagles of Death Metal were fantastic, ballsy rock and roll that not a lot of people seemed to understand, and the warm-up music (like Joy Division, The Swans and Sonic Youth) got me even more excitied. As said before, I think everyone lost interest in the Eagles of Death Metal when they saw Trent on the stage balcony, watching with Jeordie.

I screamed as hard as I could when the band came out, and even harder when Trent played the first notes of 'The Frail'. Starting the show like that made everyone get more and more excited, knowing that The Wretched was to follow.

First time I've heard the 'new' treatment of Something I Can Never Have, which is fucking brilliant, and was really looking forward to the The Only Time breakdown in Closer (Do they always do that now?)



The band were really into it. They were circling the stage before the chorus to Starfuckers, knowing that everyone would just go insane when it started.

Really surprised with Love Is Not Enough, at how loud it got, and was very VERY nice to hear Suck and Wish live. I can't seem to remember much else.

One thing I do remember is someone shouting to Trent 'Take your shirt off!' during Hurt.
Grr.

And to whoever got the tambourine: Fuck you

Ooh, I'm aching still, after spending the night in New Street Station.

Did anyone stay for Ramshackle last night, after the show? If they did, you might have seen an idiot dancing manically with glasses, sweaty hair and a Birthday Party t-shirt. That was me.

Good tight show, but didn't really do much for me. I saw dredg play to about 100 people on Wednesday where I was practically stood on the stage - think that's stopped me from being able to enjoy anything else ever. Eagles Of Death Metal were OK, but I'd have loved to have seen Dresden Dolls again having really gotten into them since the Astoria shows. NIN setlist was pretty cool, with a half-decent amount of material from The Fragile - I'd have liked Getting Smaller instead of The Collector, and it'd have been good to see Sin and No, You Don't which I missed out on by missing Paris, but yes, not bad in all. And I'm sure the majority enjoyed it a lot more than me

For the sake of your bootleg archive thread thing, tonight was taped, as were both Astoria shows, but are all currently uncirculated with good reason. But feel free to look forward in anticipation.

That so worth the 15 year wait!

My litle party had a plan in place before we got there - we knw where we wanted to stand and managed to get the places on the balcony we wanted!

I was right in view of the middle of the stage - perfect for of Trent and the rest of the band1

The setlist was PERFECT. To start with the Wretched -my favourite NIN tune ever - was magical for me. I don't mind admitting I cried like a baby when Trent started to play the first few bars - but I soon sobered up and started singing (screaming?) the words to every song as they played!

Highlights?

Closer was spot on, You Know What You Are? rocked, Hurt - perfect.

As for Burn - this was never one of my favourites, but last night changed my mind on that song.

As for the girl who tried to push past me and my bro to get to the front of the balcony - BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME.

And to the guys who bullied my girlfriend out of her spot by pushing her away - I find you - youll know PAIN!.

I was right opposite the stage on the balcony as well. It was an awesome spot.
And after queueing since 11am, I was adamant to get that spot....

MAN I NEED A BOOTLEG OF THE BIRMINGHAM SHOW!!!

It was the most fantastical gig ever!!!

NIN Were amazing.. and The eagles of death metal were pretty good (even though there album sucks)

I was one of the first to join the premium spiral fan club that was going to this gig.

sooo you were literally the first one to join the premium? I mean I joined pretty quickly, once I read the information I signed up the same day it was offered...so is that the only way they pick people for meet and greets? Or is it random? Im about to send an email to the spiral customer service and ask them how they do it.

Eric (the guy that organised it) said that it was done for the first few people that had signed up in that area - you could have been the 26th person in the midlands to sign up and they could only take 25 people for the soundcheck. Obviously I'm not sure on the actual numbers/limits.

Just had to post, saw Astoria gig, this ripped shit out of it, something i can never have, reptile, amazing! the greatest night of my life. period. i dont know waht else to say, it was so intense! Roll on manchester monday!!!

WOW is all I can say... This was my first opportunity to see NIN and I can honestly say that last nights show was the BEST SHOW I have ever seen... Trent has to be the most charismatic artist I have ever seen... The show was gruelling, non stop and he looked like he could have carried on all night!!! Truly great!!!!!!

The gig was amazing! I think the setlist was perfect. I don't know, there's so much I could say about the gig but it's just too difficult to write down in words.

When Trent was going "shhh" during starfuckers inc. and everyone went quite and then cheered like twice, hahahaha.

wow....this gig was way better than the 31st gig at the astoria and i remebered my camera this time (pics at some point).

The setlist only deviated slightly from londons second day, but the addition of SICNH made it that bit more amazing they really have made it sound awe-inspiring.

Other highlights were the stupid girl who crashed the stage in the ramones vest and danced on the spot for like two seconds before being removed...as if you wouldnt have ran up to trent really. *tuts*

And also the breakdown in starfuckers when he silenced the crowd twice and the girls kept screaming so he just said "ok" and it all carried on in perfect time...amazing.

Stayed after the gig and blagged a custom NIN plectrum of some roadie, it is used and came from jeordies mic stand (ill scan it later) and also stole a memo to security detailing the different types of passes like all access, vip etc. and what access you actually get with them. I will have to scan that too when i can get access to a scanner.

All in all...amazing night. shame about ramshackles after tho

Really amazing night. I left my camera in the car because i thought i wouldn't be able to get it in, but you could, biggest mistake of my life.

I was 2 or 3 rows back, depending on how far me and my friend were pushed forward. Starfuckers was brilliant went Trent shushed everyone. Hurt and SICNH were fantastic, amazing atmosphere during them both and the crowd singing louder than Trent at some points. I think the crowd was really great, singing along and involved with it all. I'm glad i was close to the front, close to the band and close to the water supply.

At the end the roadies threw the plectrums and drum sticks out and my friend managed to clamber on the floor for one of the plectrums, when she gave it to me i hugged her really tightly. And whoever got the tambourine, i hate you

I don't think you could ask for more. The band played a fantastic set, Burn sounded even better live and Wish really got the crowd going. I was too small to see much of Jeordie and Alessandro but Aaron was so good, going mad with his guitar, he looked pissed off all night, but still awesome.

If anyone has photos, i would really love to see them.

It was a truely memorable night. I was lucky enough to make the 2nd night at Brixton which possibly just edged it with regards to the overall performance (maybe because with the sloping floor everybody gets a better view and there is less stress with regards to getting a decent view?) but it was awesome all the same.

I was lucky enough to get in for the sound check/meet and greet session which was an amazing and yet bizzare experience (imagine a gig in a large venue with less than 30 people stood in awed silence watching their favourite band (except my mate who thought it would be even better to watch them sat in the middle of a virtually deserted dance floor!!)). As read in other topics, Jeordie was a little stern faced (but I still got a partial smile on my pic with him, due to my mate firstly calling me a stalker for putting my arm around his shoulders and secondly him the pressing the wrong button on my camera and switching it off, thus extending the minor hug I was giving him!). Trent was v.cool......I said I loved Tuesdays gig and he responded by saying 'Thanks...what day is it now??'. If Trent was v.cool, then Aaron was v.v cool. He was so friendly, smiley and chatty. Asked him how he felt/settled in with band he said 'fantastic and was loving the tour' also let slip about Jerome having an accident the night before (more to follow on that subject!). Alessandro seemed a bit bemused that I a) knew his name and b) wanted his autograph/pic taken with Aaron and me.....lovely guy!!!!!. Finally met Jerome who after the obligatory 'Hi, how's the tour going?' I asked what had happened to him as i heard he'd had an accident....he looked a little sheepish (raised his eyebrows) and said ' well I had'nt drunk that much, but when I was going down the stairs at last nights venue, I kinda slipped on a plastic glass and landed at the bottom turning my right ankle over....I cant really walk but I'm fine sitting down and thankfully can still play the drums'. I'll confirm now that he could and was awesome along with the rest of them.

SICNH was just inspired (I think the whole venue was singing along with Trent with tears in their eyes, the same goes for Hurt. Wish was mind blowing and Reptile was hoofy as fuck (kicked ass in the sound check too!!). To be honest, I was still in a state of shock after the earlier meet with the band and was too caught up in the performance to comment further on the gig.

I will add that 'Eagles of Death Metal' were a great support and worthy of their place on the bill (well done Mr Reznor). Jesse is is about as rock n roll as they get and he was true to his word when he said that he would give it his all for that nights performance (I bumped into him by the sound booth during NIN's sound check and got chatting to him.....he was sooooo excited about playing with the industrial gods that are NIN and the fact the I recognised him)

I'll post some pics of the brum gig in the next day or so when I get the time as some came out ok.

Finally I just want to say thanks to matildauk for meeting up with us and taking my 'spare mate' into the meet and greet......we are forever in your debt.

This was the best night of my life, it was my first NIN show and it was absolutely amazing. I still haven't come back down to earth, it's going to take a while, I think!

Eagles of Death Metal rocked, I really enjoyed their set. Then there wasn't much of a wait before NIN came on. You could feel the excitement in the air!

It was a shame that they didn't play Sin, one of my favourites, but this was more than made up for by the performance of SICNH (absolutely choked me!) and TDTWWA, a song which means an awful lot to me and it was done brilliantly. It was great to hear quite a few songs from With Teeth. I really enjoyed THTF, would perhaps have been good to hear Only. I was also really chuffed to hear Suck live, I just love that song, and Gave Up too. The Only Time breakdown in Closer was just inspired. I also managed to catch one of Trent's dirty, evil sideways glances during Reptile as I was stood on the balcony to his left. He made me laugh during the breakdown in Starfuckers, when he was saying "ssshhhhhhh" to try and get everyone to be quiet, and the crowd were just hanging there, waiting to hear what he had to say, but he just said "ok" and then they rammed straight back into "DON'T YOU..." absolutely perfectly. And then HLAH was just the perfect end to the perfect set, the usual simple, raw performance with great lighting.

When Trent was singing the final section of Even Deeper ("I'm straight, I won't crack...") he didn't sing the final two lines of each four-line part ("on my way and I can't turn back", etc), perhaps because he's beaten these demons and he feels differently now to back then?

I did take my camera but had trouble taking photos that didn't include various body parts of the two girls in front of me. Every time I lined up a shot, they moved just at the wrong time!

All in all, awesome, I just cannot wait now until I can see them again! I am so jealous of my friend who is going to the London show on Wednesday. Even my hubby, who's not a fan, really enjoyed it, he said he was very pleasantly surprised and really wants to see NIN live again! Yippppeeeeeee!!!!

Meet and Greet:



What can i say - that has got to be the best day of my life.

I had the great pleasure of being invited to the meet and greet for this show
and the only way i can describe it is..
BLOODY AMAZING.
I still havn't calmed down and every time i think about it my hands start shaking all over again.




First off, before i write a giant essay about the M+G and the show,

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Owls (Andy) and his two mates(Colin and Biff) who i
went to the meet and greet with - you guys are just great.
If it was for you guys, i would have been even more of a nervous wreck-if you can believe thats possible.



Anyway...I arrived at the venue just gone 4pm and was hanging around the entrance door till Eric(tour manager)
Came to meet all of us.
I think we got let in just before 5pm( i might be wrong, the whole of Friday is still a blur)
And Eric chatted to us for about 5 minutes before walking us towards the soundcheck.
We walked along the balcony(actually me and a couple of people ran and got told to walk,heh,heh)
and went down the stairs and headed towards the front of the stage..and it was just...unreal..
..they were there on stage playing.
They played about 4-5 songs during soundcheck,but best moment was when Biff
decided to sit on the floor a couple of steps back from the stage to enjoy the show.

Anyway the big moment arrived...to meet the band...AAAAAAHHHHHHH.
We all got in a line and the guys worked there way along, we were near the end of the line.
First was Jeordie.
He seemed like he wasn't enjoying the whole M+G thing(well thats what i thought)
I ask him to sign my stuff and if i could have a picture with him..that was about it with him.
Then the main man himself was working his way along the line.
Me and Andy were having a small worry about who was going to meet Trent 1st(OK, just me)

Andy went 1st..Man i have a great pic of you guys together.."Best buds".... then it was me.
I had so many things a want to say or ask and they all went out the window when he ask if i was OK and put his hand out to shake.
I had my copy of 'With Teeth'+Birmingham poster and a small poster of the band that was free with the 'Hands that feed' UK single.
He signed the CD and poster then i handed the small poster to Trent to sign and he just looked at it for a minute,
then looked at me and ask where a got it from?
I told him that it was free in the CD for the 'THTF' single and he just looked at me again puzzled as he knew nothing about it.
Then he said something along the lines of "Hey, what do i know im only the artist" and smiled at me.

Next was Jerome..i shook his hand and asked him to sign my stuff.
Same thing happened again.when it got to the small poster Jerome ask where it was from..i told him and said could i ask him something.
He said sure,so i ask when his solo album was coming out.
He looked at me and with a little smile said something like "Thanks for asking about it" (in a some what shocked way)
He told me it was to be released last Nov, but he had problems with the company that was going to release it.
And that its on the back burner for a while as he wants to focus on 'Nails' at the moment.
I said i couldn't wait till it comes out as it sounds like its going to be great...i got another 'Thank you' from him
and i asked if i could have a photo taken with him...so he stood next to me with his arm round my waist(heh,heh).
Next was Alessandro and Aaron..same thing..ask where i got the small poster of them all from.
This bit is a blur, but one of them pointed out that jerome or jeordie looked like(i think they said) jamie lee curtis.
And there pair just cracked up laughing,they are a right pair together.
I have to say alessandro has got the greatest smile.

I think that was it...Eric got us all together and let us know that we are now going to head out
but that we will get early entrance at 6.30pm.
so i headed back to the hotel to take back my new treasures

Ok my hands are shanking like hell just thinking about it all again...so i will post about the show later.....and what a show.

It was a fucking awesome gig. Not as good as Astoria on the 31st March, but damn close! Hurt, Reptile, TDTWWA and SICNH were definitely the highlights.

I get to see them again on Thursday in Brixton. WOO HOO!

...and before i forget... eagles of death metal was the shittiest band i've ever had the displeasure of hearing in my entire life. i pretended to like them for a few brief moments, though, as trent seemed to be watching us from the balcony and i didn't want him to feel silly rocking out by himself.

I hope that's the one you meant. It's a little underexposed, and the quality was degraded even more by scanning it, but oh well.

compelly/matildauk - thanks, they aren't all that good though. The pictures I got in Glasgow were a lot better. Can't wait to see yours.

I was standing in 2nd or 3rd row between Jeordie and Trent in Birmingham, which was not bad considering the fact that we only got to the venue at about 6 (if I am remembering correctly) and I bought a coke before getting up front. We didn't realise the doors were to be opened earlier on that night. I guess most of the people stayed on the balcony or something.

I think Birmingham was the hottest concert of them all. Afterwards I could ring sweat out of my clothes. Thank god for the security giving us water.

I know I've mentioned this enough already, but if anyone has an extra Birmingham lithograph, I'd be interested. Unfortunately, they sold out of them long before I even found the merchandise stand. I have an extra Manchester litho (that I picked up in hopes of trading) or if you don't need it, I could enlarge a couple of the higher quality pictures I took and trade those (I can send samples). I really don't want to wait in hopes someone puts one up on ebay, and then be forced to pay 100+ quid. If interested, please pm me.

this may actually be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway- I thought that the Eagles of Death Metal was Josh Homme's other band.. so, er, why wasn't he there?

I think due to his commitments to QOTSA he could never be a full time member of the band although he was the drummer on the Peace Love Death Metal album. As I understand it Josh is a good friend of the band and plays with them every now and then. ....sadly he was'nt there for the gig, but they had Sam Malone from Hole on drums instead and they rocked anyway

Ah, firstly my bad, its Sam Maloney, not Malone. She took over from Melissa Auf Der thingy who left in 1999......Celebrity Skin came out the year before???. Anyway, no problem and glad you liked EODM!!

Well...its been quite a while since the gig now, but I think it has taken me a month to get over it!
Couldn't believe how excellent it was, i had a great spot at the front balcony where you could see everything! To be honest I was worried about the gig 'cause I think the academy sucks as a venue!! I saw sisters of mercy there and the sound was awful, even machine head struggled but I needn't have worried!
I really liked the light show too - is it the same light rig at the other gigs?
Couldn't have wished for a better set list but did miss perfect drug (I'm not complaining though!).
Any UK/Europe/etc peeps going to any of the American gigs?

It took me ages to get over it too.
I've seen both A Perfect Circle and Nine Inch Nails there now; bot of whom were awesome.
I was on the balcony too - when I saw Feeder at the Academy I was scouting around for a good spot for NIN. lol

Cool! I really wanted to go to that perfect circle gig but my gigging buddy let me down with the tickets-bah!
Really hope NIN play the academy next time they are over!

There was a guy on the balcony near me taping or videoing or something. He was there for the whole gig putting up with getting stepped on and having to watch the whole thing through the rails; and then right as the gig was finishing security came along and took the recorder off him!
He looked a bit gutted (as you would) but perhaps he could have tried to look a bit less obvious.
Filming from the front of the main balcony? Doh!!
