Ok, so, the show started out with Autolux (obviously), and they were boring and pretensious if you want to give them more than they deserve. Nobody cared. We watched, and nobody clapped. Booo.

Then came Queens of the Stone age. The lead singer was drunk, and very proud of it, and I discovered at this concert that other than their three good radio hits, all their other songs could be classified as "filler," or if not, monotonous. If you could tell when a song ended and began, you were doing well. Boring and wayyyyyy too long. Some people cared, and that made me sad.

And then came Nine Inch Nails. They were so much better than queens that I felt embarrassed for the queens. The show started with Pinion and we couldn't see any of the band members, then they performed Love is not enough behind a mask of curtain which made for an interesting effect. The show lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes, and amazingly, for being such a long setlist, there was not a single boring moment. Midway through he show the curtain came back down, and there was an awesome montage for Right Where it Belongs, Eraser, and Beside you in Time. It was funny in some spots, but mostly very brutal. It showed images that protested the bush administration, greed, war, and, the lame hurricane katrina efforts. Way cool. He performed a new song titled "not so pretty now" or something like that, and it was really innovative and a little funky-- I could see this being a radio single for his next album, easily, as it shows a really cool new direction for NIN that reminds me of ONLY. (Which btw, was the last song he finished for WT.) Hurt, Starfuckers, The hand that feeds, and Head like a hole were the finishers (of course), and all of them were performed quite well. (In the past, I haven't liked the boots of THTF-- it sounded like a bad live transfer, not the case this time around.) When he performed ONLY live it was one of the best songs of the night. It was way stripped and different than the album version, but it was a whole lot of fun. And speaking of fun, he actually played deep, the most hated NIN song for the fans. And it was fun.He also played the frail and the wretched, and the wretched was by far the loudest song of the night (as far as bass goes anyway.) Awesome and intense performance, he played everything I wanted to hear EXCEPT No You Don't. I am hoping that when I see NIN tomorrow night in Portland, that he plays it.

QOTSA: -1/10 for being way too long and obnoxious
NIN: 10/10, I could not have asked for more from NIN.

As a fan I have to protest, or at the very least share my views.

I quite like Autolux, being the huge Failure fan I am. Greg Edwards and Co made a very good album (Future Perfect) and the drummer is as good as she is attractive. Thumbs up.

Yeah, thats great that they are good on album, but I was describing their live show. He was drunk and he sucked. And if you can't perform well on stage, I don't care about your stupid record.

As far as riffs go, the drunk bastard played the same three notes for like 5 minutes while people busted out their lighters. I think he didn't know what to do.

Holy shit. Brain = fried.

I missed part of Autolux's set. Wasn't hugely impressed with them. My respect for Queens of the Stone Age, however, has gone through the roof. I thought they were fantastic. And no, it's not only because Josh stated multiple times that he'd fucked Troy.

Then NIN. God damn. The entire projection screen portion of the show is brilliant. Beside You in Time translates surprisingly well live. Now, I have to admit I busted out laughing a few times: The x-ray of the cat drinking has to be the most hysterically funny thing I've ever seen. And the grocery store aisle? Come on! Also, Aaron is completely out of his mind - anyone else see that security dude almost get taken out by the amp rolling off the stage?

The set list was good but sort of trailed off toward the end. "Not so Pretty Now" kinda sucks and Deep was just bizarre. And about 3/4 of the way through the show, it basically became a gay disco - dig all the pastel pink, lavender, and baby blue lighting :D

Additionally, Trent looks like Arnold in Commando now.

Just got back from the show, and it was INCREDIBLE! I was really disappointed by the crowd, though. I couldn't believe how lame it was. Most people were sitting down in the seat areas, even in the Spiral section where I was, and the people on the floor often just stood there. I was embarrassed, and expected a lot more out of everybody - there just wasn't much energy from the crowd. I think it was pretty obvious that Trent sensed it because they didn't even really take a break after "Hurt" before starting the encore.

The songs were all great, and my personal highlights were: The Frail/The Wretched, Sin, Head Like A Hole, Deep, and Only. I thought I was going to miss Robin Finck, but Aaron North totally kicked his ass. I am a huge Aaron North fan after tonight, and the rest of the guys were awesome as well.

autolux is really good, for a 3 piece. qotsa great as well. and no one really boo'd at either of them. in fact there was an alot of clapping, and cheers for autolux, and many,many fans for the queens. 1 question about nin: why is the dude with the red hanky hangin out his pocket in the band? he played 17 and 1/4 notes all night! and one of them was wrong! the rest of the time he just walked around the stage and hung out, like a poor kid at his rich buddies house. silly. trent is gettin old, selling his soul. he's ripped to the T though, so im happy he is feeling good in life, but maybe he should take some advice from M.C. Curly and just make c.d.'s and not tour. dont get me wrong, im a huge nin freak, but live kinda bites. however for a "rock" show, it was ok. lots o smoke and fancy lights. and yes the dude with the red hanky is happy hes in a band and he threw stuff at the crowd, got angry a few times because his mic wasnt working properly and threw that on the ground in a "rocker" style hissy fit. then threw a pa at the bouncer protecting his ass, then threw his broken guitar in his general direction right afterwards. again, who is that "sleprock". spend 60 bucks and enjoy, you might like it, we all know the music roxors on cd.

Wow, I though their set was really impressive. Some of the stops in the longer, more speedy arrangments were really sharp - their timing seemed impeccable. And drunkenness on top of that? It's gold! "If you think we suck, go buy a hot dog and shove it up your ass!" Bahahahaha! GO JOSH.

the single best show Ive ever been to. and Im not a show virgin.

I was really close to the stage. Disappointed in the crowd? WTF? Both my friend and I agree that was the craziest pit ever. Just insane. By the time Right Where it Belongs rolls around, I was so thankful, cause I needed a breather.

That was just ... insane.

Deep rocked. It was great cause everyone was so skeptical, the crowd didnt look too into it at first, but by the time they got to the chorus, everyone was moving. It was a great feeling.

Only owned. The new song, however, did really suck. Really suck. It didnt kill the night though, nothing could kill the night.

Man, I really dug how they added a real bass to a lot of songs - Terrible Lie, Sin...Sin was awesome, that bass really changed the feel of the song. Great stuff.

I could ramble but Ill just conclude by saying that that version of Right where it belongs was the most beautiful thing ever and I will be madly hunting for a bootleg; and Beside You in Time was fucking better than I ever hoped.

I was in section 114, row 3 (first row people were allowed to sit in). I saw that there were some people behind me who were standing up, but not as many as I expected, especially for members of the fan club. A lot of the seated people bobbed their heads, but I couldn't sit still with the music pulsing through me!

As far as the people on the floor, I looked across the crowd quite a few times, and believe me, there were were lots of instances where Trent was jumping around, a song was hitting the chorus, or whatever, and the people were just standing there looking like they didn't have a clue as to what was going on. They did get moving a few times, but didn't get fully worked up (in my opinion) until Head Like A Hole at the very end.

that set list is pretty much perfect, except down in it came before hurt. thtf was right after hurt.

OK, just got back from the seattle show, fucking awsome. but i wasnt able to sell my portland ticket there. i really dont want this ticket to go to waste, and i really dont wanna loose all my money on it. am probably going to have to drive down to portland tomorrow to sell it, but will let it go a lot cheaper if somebody wants to pick it up localy. was just going to sell it for what i paid for it at the door, but if somebody will meet close to me i will let it go for $40. it is a GA floor ticket that cost me $58 originaly. i live about 2 and a half hours north of portland by lakewood WA. please respond soon or pm or e-mail aphexjuggalo@gmail.com , or call 253-686-7709. thanks

also of note, the lithos were nowhere to be seen. i asked at all 4 merch booths and they never heard anything about them. kinda bumbed about that. they have had them on the other dates right?

autolux was decent i guess, i contemplated buying their record, but quickly decided against.

qotsa, fucking blew. i was so bored during their set. they had a few catchy riffs and beats, but then the guy would sing again and ruin it all.

every nin song was great, but i was quite suprsed with only and beside you in time. both never really struck me as all that, but seeing them lie they were actually some of the high points.

i think the new song will actually grow on me pretty well. its always hard to tell about a song when the first time you hear it its live, but the lyrics sounded good. like somebody else stated in another post, kinda sounds like an only / getting smaller combo, but the lyrics remind me heavily of reptile. great song

autolux sounded good I guess. Autolux's drummer did an amazing job which is sad because I wasn't impressed by the bassist and guitarist. The vocals were muffled which is odd since later trent was usually quite clear.

(to whoever sad the drummer is attractive, kudos. She was nearly as beautiful as she is talented -which says a lot).

Queens of the Stone Age were very funny but I could barely hear any singing and quite a few songs sounded interchangeable. I loved the extended parts on No One Knows. As others mentioned, Homme was funny. there was a guy with his face painted like a skeleton to which Hommme remarked mid set "He's so dedicated (?) and... he's on LSD. He's messed up... so he's with us." (Paraphrase). Homme also said to people who didn't like their setlist to buy a foot-long hot dog and stick it in their rear (or something to that effect).

Nine Inch Nails was amazing. best live performance I've seen out of any band. I loved the momentum the band had in each song. Highlights for me were: Sin, Love Is Not Enough, Starfuckers, Inc., Right Where It Belongs, Down In It, Deep. I mouthed the words to each song. Great energy from all involved especially Trent. I nearly cried during the footage for Right Where IT belongs. Trent managed to not be too heavy handed against Bush but the scenes of carnage, clear-cutting, poverty, homelessness were all very intense. Eraser was fun. The changing of the intros to many songs kept me guessing as to each, though it looked like it followed the setlist of San Diego (almost).

My only "real" complaints weere about the venue and patrons: the sound of each vocalist was buried deep within each mix till Trent got on. Trent even sounded muffled and drowned out on the new song and a few other points. the patrons, while generally polite, did have a quirk I sat in front of. Some barely-under-middle age men sat behind me and kept YELLING about beer and their wives. They couldn't even shut up when the singing went on. If you are one of this people, sorry but you are f'ing annoying. I thinke veryone I was around would agree on that point.

On a cool note, I saw a friend I hadn't seen in ages: Jessica Salas, so that was great.

I wore a white shirt and army green shorts. glasses. kind of homely really. blonde hair. skinny. ah crap, who cares! Nine Inch Nails is still vital and even more so than most bands I've seen/heard.

Autolux was pretty impressive. I didn't enjoy their set as much as the Dresden Dolls, but they're definitely a band I'll check out later.

I'm not much of a QOTSA fan... Their music wasn't bad, not really to my taste, but definitely not bad. The lead singer's constant "fuck" comments were a little annoying. Definitely gave them a bar band vibe.

NIN...great show. Couple things:

- The intro song is not Pinion! I'm not sure what it is...it could be modified, it could be something entirely new, but it's definitely *not* Pinion.

- NIN put on a great show, as always. However, the crowd fucking sucked! By far the worst NIN crowd I've seen in a long time. No energy at all in the pit.

The videos are amazing, though I wasn't able to see them well enough at the front of the pit.

That's all.

Oh, and no lithos. They weren't printed/delivered/whatever in time for the show. I'm guessing they'll be made available online later.

The show was awesome! I really enjoyed the live version of Only, and the Eraser/RWIB/BYIT sequence was amazing.
But truly the crowd sucked. I haven't been to alot of shows but this was the lamest crowd I have ever seen. Come on, it's NIN! I was in the fan club section and everybody around me was just sitting there bobbing their heads. I felt like I was going to fly off the literal edge of my seat when I did sit down. The performance was kick ass but overall the experience could have been better had there been a little more energy exchange between the crowd and the band.

yea, sorry, i didnt add to the crowd momentum much, i just had surgery 2 weeks ago, so i stayed in the middle of the floor and tried not to get bumped into. i did take a lot of pics though. most came out blurry, still getting my new camera figured out with concerts. i hate using a flash cause it makes the show look diferent, but without it has to go with a slower speed, so it gets some blurring.

- Alright, I was at the Seattle show, it was my first NIN show and I was pumped. I was in the 201 section as well. I was bored as hell during the Coldplay Gone Retarded stylings of Autolux [I didn't even know there was a girl in the band until I read it here]. Queens of the Stone Age were terrible, which really depressed me as I am a big fan of them, but it makes sense as Josh was thrashed off his ass.

- Before I go any further, let me say that everyone in the 201 section was absolutely dead during Autolux and Queens, but I thought that when the almighty NIN would arrive, it would all change. I was wrong, DEAD wrong.

- NIN started, no one got up, I wanted to, but I didn't want to fuck up the pretensious bastard little college students who were behind me collection views. Finally, during "The Line Begins to Blur" [which came BEFORE "March of the Pigs," by the way] I stood up because I couldn't take it sitting down anymore as I felt I was disrespecting one of my favorite bands.

- After the song is over, all of a sudden these two pieces of shit get on my ass for standing and blocking this bitch's view. The guy gets all pissed and starts throwing "fuck"s at me while the woman told me if I wanted to stand, I should go to the fucking floor. I asked them what the fuck was wrong with them, this is a fucking concert and they would have nothing of it. I wanted to throw them over the edge at this point, but I decided "fuck it" and sat down. There was NO action in the 201 section. People pretty much forked over $35 to act like they were sitting at home and watching a fucking DVD. It PISSED me off and ruined the next half hour of the concert for me.

- You know, I have been to many concerts and at all of them [Neil Diamond, Metallica, OzzFest, Static-X, KoRn, SlipKnot, fuck, even 'Weird Al'] people were into it and standing. I used to hear Seattle was pretty much shit when it came to crowd reactions, but from past experiences, I thought things had changed. I was proven wrong tonight and it saddens me that it was NIN that fell victim to it.

fun times at the show.

autolux was great. but i am a huge autolux fan. however, autolux belongs in smaller venues. they don't pull off the "look at me kiddies, we are rockstars playing in a huge place" vibe. to all the people who were bored with them, i am sure maroon 5 will be around your parts someday soon. you will get your full blown rock show experience.

queens was ok. better on cd though. when it comes to straight ahead rock, queens do a good job. they do have the bar band thing going. i would rather see them in a bar.

nails were great as usual. the smaller tour they did was way better. this setlist is a little to predictable. eraser is cool.

i am SOOOO tired of hurt, head like a hole, starfuckers. christ, starfuckers sucks so bad. never thought trent would write such a piece of shit song. but the oh-so-cool-chorus gets all the goofballs thinking they are so edgey. hurt??? "the great below", "right where it belongs" and "something i can never have" are worlds better. hurt is the "pay attention to me" song for the hot topic generation. and lastly, head like a hole....it was the dumbest song on pretty hate machine. i get the point already. please let it fucking die now. try a new closer.

anyway, this is probably my 32nd time seeing nin and it was not bad. the bowie tour still had the best setlist so far IMO. that setlist was fucking amazing!! becoming, sanctifide, closer to god...damn it was sweet.

nice images and lights as usual. the sound was great as usual.

skip songs: hurt, head like a hole, starfuckers, closer (we don't need a fucking greatest hits show!!!the fake as weather fans have just about been weeded out. the fans who still pay for your shit can handle the other songs). no more reptile either. it is better on cd. the fans love it at first but the audience gets bored half way through everytime. same with burn on this tour.

add: big comedown, into the void, the great below, heresy, please, where is everybody?, were in this together, getting smaller, all the love in the world, becoming, ruiner, closer to god, i do not want this, and all that could have been, adrift and at piece, get down make love, perfect drug (try to pull it off fuckers), sanctifide, thats what i get, help me im in hell. dead souls.

i thought trent said he was pulling out some new stuff for this tour. aside from deep and eraser i am not really seeing the big deal. wanna shock me, play some songs i listed above.

and lastly, this audience sucked ass. could the place be anymore bored?

to people bitching about autolux and queens sound....you are aware that those bands don't get to have a good soundcheck right? most of the time they get a soundcheck at all.

nails sounds great everytime not only because of soundcheck but because they have massive amounts of equipment, gadgets, and effects to polish their sound.

the show was cool. i kind of agree with the post above me. the person makes valid points.

autolux was cool. QOTSA was cool. nin were great. i would like to see dresden dolls (people bitched about them on the last leg of the tour) take the place of QOTSA. leave autolux on board.

wish the people at the show seemed more interested.

Im happy with the setlist, the show was roughly 2 hours but is goes by so quickly its feels much shorter.
Jeordie White actually moves in "Only" That was pretty exciting

Intense, powerfull performance. Cant wait for the Vancouver show, but I doubt there will be a change in set-list.
BTW I was sitting in row 5 section 114 3 seats in. If anyone who was sitting by me reads this and remembers the chick standing in the sitting area.

QOTSA were actually pretty good, and their drummer was very good. I think their new album sucks, but i like the others, and the songs from the new album sounded pretty cool live. The people where i was sitting (sectionn 114) were pretty into it. Josh Homme did have a kind of frat-boy vibe, and that doesn't mesh with NIN too well, but oh well.

NIN was amazing. It's the 6th time i've seen them, and it was definitely a good showing. One thing abotu Aaron, though... when he's not breaking somethng or jumping off of something, he looks bored. strange...

Trent was dead on, and i still love the reworking of the end of Closer (they did the same thing in Reno on their little club tour) I'm tired fo that song, so the change livened it up.

Talking about what songs should be left off and what should be played... a lot of the crowd was young and/or dumb, and didn't seem to know the With Teeth songs well (except for Only and The Hand that Feeds) and largely didn't know Fragile songs all that well. I guess Trent does have to keep playing hits like Closer, Down In It, Head Like a Hole and Terrible Lie. No one around me knew deep, few knew Burn. (an amazing song, llive or on disc)

The video during Reight Where it Belongs was one of the most amazing nd moving things i have ever seen in a live show. My wife commented that it's sad that so many people will watch that, go "hell yeah" about all the shit going on in the world, and continue living their comfortable little lives. It is a shae, bu hopefully stuff like that video sparks something in some people. It was beautiful.

Hurt, a shitty song for the Hot Topic generation? Fuck Off. That's a brilliant song, and was very well done. If you don't like it, that's fine, but it's testament to the power of those lyrics if someone else can sing them (Johnny Cash) and peopel that have never heard it can talk about how amazing and moving a song it is.

I also appreciate the "no encore" thing. Encores have become passe, almost disresptectful in this "we assume it is going to happen" sort of way. I think NIN accomplished what they needed to in the songs they played, and rendered any need for an encore redundant.
I've been going to NIN shows for eleven years now, and as long as he keeps playing with this sort of force, i will continue to.

During the Fragile tour I got a seat and I sat down and so did everyone around me in Chicago.

I can't see the big deal. Its okay to stand up for one or two kick ass songs but not during the whole damn concert when you got seat tickets.

The least you could do for the band is get up off your lazy ass and stand. Is it that difficult? I'm sure it's perfectly acceptable to sit there like a fatass and not take part in a michael bolton show whatsoever, but i think last night was a bit different.
Ministry has a live video called "in case you didn't feel like showing up." That strikes me as a very appropriate title. You can sit on your couch and watch "and all that could have been" all you want.

My first NIN show and I was blown away. A dream come true, really. It's so disappointing to read how many people are so judgmental about what Trent does and doesn't do. Why be so critical of the band? I guess that's the nature of forums though. I was REALLY disappointed with the crowd. I kept thinking "What the FUCK is wrong with these people"??! How can they just SIT during these songs? How can they not even fucking clap? The people around me, save a few, seemed so fucking uptight. I loved watching the certain few who totally got lost in the music, didn't care what they looked like dancing. My hope is that Trent and band came away feeling proud of the show.

Perhaps there is a thing as social ettiquete and people feel that it does not change because it is a NIN concert over a Opera. So I guess during an opera one must at civil and at a NIN concert they can act uncivil.

Is standing uncivil? It's not like people were getting punched in the stands. At an opera, people are stuffy and pretentious. At a rock concert, people tend to show appreciation by standing, clapping, and (gasp!) even yelling!

i dunno. some weird force kept me glued to my chair. it felt weird to see nin in an arena. i know, the Gorge is basically an arena sizewise, but it doesn't feel like one. this is the first time i've seen them when i had reserved seats; made me feel like i was using the living room in some old person's house--the kind where there are plastic dustcovers on the furniture and you have to raise your pinky when you pick up your teacup. security didn't keep lots of folks from jumping down onto the floor, but they did make sure no one stood in the aisle, and that put a damper on things.

we missed Autolux. the drummer for QOTSA blew the rest of the band away--he sounded like Grohl (i couldn't tell what he looked like except for black hair and lots of tats). but other than that, the songs were sloppy-sounding, not as tight as on the CDs, and the singer was boring.

i agree that Right Where It Belongs really packed a punch. all the songs from WT really worked--those and stuff from the Fragile seem to be where TR's heart really is these days. hearing the older stuff live now is pretty different from hearing it back when he still was in the headspace that spawned those songs. his stage presence is almost jolly now in comparison--his flying 'self-assfuck' gesture to punctuate "shove it up inside" for March of the Pigs was priceless. Aaron gave TR a few affectionate leaning headbutts, but his attempts at equipment-wrecking were obviously halfhearted until the very end.

That was a great show. In fact, that was the best show i've ever been too. I sat in section 114 row 3. I'm sorry if people spent any of their time complaining in their minds about me not standing. I would have stood up, but there were several rows behind me that were sitting and i didn't want to be an asshole and block them. Besides, i think i earned those tickets as well as how i spent my time at the show. I own every halo plus some, which is most likely more than the people bitching about my idea of enjoying the show(sitting). I've already had the moshpit experience at shows before. This time i just wanted to sit down, relax, and enjoy. On a final note, that was a great show and i'm also glad i got to see soundcheck. That made the show seem even more intimate for me. I can't wait until next time!!!

I'll be one of those standing in the seats dancing my ass off!!!! I've had four shoulder surgeries and a hip surgery, and I'm in great shape but I spent my life savings on surgeries. I'm not about to let a bunch of people who don't know how to dance their asses off and get into the music but instead want to be morons and beat the shit out of people and crowd surf so you get boots in the face fuck up my body!!! I'd be down on the floor like I used to for concerts, before people got retarded and think it's fun causing bodily fucking injury.

Ok, security really hurt the pit. But I saw upwards of 5+ people being carried out of it. So I don't get the "no energy" vibe.

The political crap on the screen was a bit much, so far I'm happy NiN hasn't jumped on the bandwagon with the songs.

Also, to those "people" who are tired of songs like Closer, Head like a hole, etc. Please just shut up, there are people who have never seen NIN live, they want to hear these songs.

The setlist was great, though I'll be honest, I didn't know the lyrics to burn. Deep was a great addition, though it still makes me wish they'd TPD.

Down in it was amazing, one of my favorite nails songs.

The new one was good and gives me hope that I won't have to wait another 5 years for a nails reccord.

Overall, great show, coulda used less security, but fucking pit jocks caused it by praticly killing some of these girls.

Also, for those of you thinking that going along with whichever way the crowd surges is a "pit" then your semantics are quite different from mine, but hey...I'm an old fart anyhow.

The ironic thing is that I have seen more people get hurt in the crowd surges than in a mosh pit, simply because they can't get back up.

So, in summary, you can't blame the crowd on the floor for not really getting "into the show" because they were tossing out people, just like they said they would. I can't wait for the San Antonio and Houston shows now, because I do know that all hell will break loose for those shows, and I think the band will feed off that too.

Beyond that, I thought the show was fantastic. Highlights of the night for me: "The Wretched" was outstanding, the video for the 3 song set, and "Love is Not Enough" being played behind the screen....awesome effect. Was slightly disappointed in: "Only" sounded off, "Not So Pretty Now" was a let down...play "Sunspots" instead

As far as Autolux and QTSA are concerned, I was really impressed by both of them, especially since I hadn't really heard any of their stuff before. Thought both were really solid, and I am looking forward to seeing Queens in a more active floor environment.

Anyhow, that's it. Great show overall, and I can't wait for SA and Houston.

I have been to all the arena shows so far and I must say this one was by far the craziest, so quit your bitching about the crowd. At no other show did the crowd get into the QOTSA set. At all the others they just kind of stood around and bobbed their heads. At no other show were there this many people, period. At all others the crowd would get less dense as you walked further towards the back of the GA area, whereas this show was packed all the way to the back, and at all others there were hardly any people on the second level of seating, which was almost full at this show. At no other show were there this many beuatiful women. Seriously. I'm moving to Seattle. And at no other show was there this much weed. Oh man. I swear I got high and I didn't smoke. Good times. Great times. Looking forward to tonight in Portland. Fuck yeah.

Great show last nite, my first NIN show having been a fan for a while so i was all excited. NIN was just amazing better live than anything I could have imagine not even "and all that could have been" could have prepared me for what was too come....

Autolux was ok, they kinda reminded me of a watered down Sonic Youth the drummer Chick was awesome. Yeah like some one said earlier in the post they seem better suited for a small venue but they were ok.

Queens of the Stone Age was fucking awesome, ofcourse not alot of NIN fans are gonna like them but i thought they where good Josh is a good front man and it was nice seeing Troy rockin out again. Their drummer was bad ass aswell..overall their set was good.

Like I said earlier NIN was just fucking amazing this was the best show ive ever been to and ive been to alot of shows and up to last nite TOOL was the best how ive ever been too.. so yeah. I was down in the upfront and centered wearing my Jager shirt.. I thought the crowd was into it well atleast where i was people were singing and dancing and everyone one seemed to be having a good time. It was nice to see Joardie again, he did seem to move a little bit more than his APC gigs where he seem to be in a comma, so he does have some life, The rest of the cast Aaron, Jerome, and Alesandro(sic) where great, the only con i have is the security nazis that where in the crowd those guys are bastards, besides that everything was perfect. The whole experience was sureal, i had waited all this time and i was not dissapointed. Thank you Trent. Hope you guys come back to Seattle soon!!!!

The show I thought was amazing! I got floor and was in the front row the entire time ... I had lots of fun, The people I had met at the show were really awsome. This was my first NIN show and It was all I thought it was going to be and more. For those whom I had chatted with in the spiral line, It was nice to have met you all and hope you had a blast as did I and my hubby. I had short blonde hair, black jeans and a David Bowie shirt (grey) on and a black sweat shirt and my hubby had on a skinny puppy T with a black dickie over it. And to the tall guy (forgot your name ...sorry) whom was in the green T with his wife in the spiral line..I hope you enjoy the Portland and Van show.

Just returned from Seattle. Phew.
Well, this was my first "real" concert (because Nsync and that Avril chick don't count) and I was really excited. My friend and I snuck a camera in so I'll try to post pictures later.
When Autolux started they played a set of 6 songs which included "Turnstile Blues" I was on the floor and in the 3rd row at this point. Then Queens of the Stonage came out and I was pushed forward and smooshed by the sweaty people around me. I forgot how many songs they played but I remember hearing "In My Head", "Little Sister", and "No One Knows." Somehow I was getting moved further away from the stage and more into the middle of the pit. I had lost my friend at this point.
The the majestic curtain came down and after mintues of anticipation I heard the first few notes of Pinion that smoothly entered into "Love is Not Enough." When "March of the Pigs" was played I had to get out of the pit for I was crushed beyong belief and I couldn't breathe. I missed most of "The Frail/The Wretched" and I could hardly see the stage when they played "Closer" which really pissed me off. But I made my way back to the very front about 10 ft diagonally away fron Trent and Aaron. So for the last 9 songs I had a great view though I was the cheese of a human sandwich.
Plus Sides: Got to hear "Only" (which rocks so hard live) and "Deep" (love that song too) and that new song "Not So Pretty" was cool too. While Trent was playing "Hurt" and he was all shadowy like I saw drips of swaet fall off him and I had the greatest desire to lick him (giggle). When QOTSA played, Josh Hommes said "If you don't like us, leave and go but a hotdog and shove it up your ass." Which cracked me up as well when he said "Me and Troy have already fucked 3 times," was good too. IU got to see Jerome take his shirt off at this end of "Head Like a Hole"
Downers: Trent didn't talk a lot which made me kinda sad. The most he said was, "This is a new song" before going into "Not So Pretty." I could see Jeordie at all during the performance so thus I will have no photos of him. No guitars were broken or smashed at all! What's up with that?! Calm down, it's all right.
I guess this wouldn't be a proper review without some "thank you's" and "fuck you's" right?

It was nice meeting you and thanks for hanging out with us after the show I e-mailed you. And to the bands for putting on a great perfromance.
All in all, great show, I have bruises and I'm sore.

I was the third person in the normal line into the arena. Was an awesome show.

Autolux's semi retarded antics amused me somewhat, but the bassist/vocalist just looked too constipated to get an arena crowd motivated. Everyone ackwardly pretended to pay attention while looking for a glimpse of Trent anywhere.

Queens played a substantial set... They were pretty good but some of their fans pissed me off. Josh was an interesting character... I liked his keyboardist best. Wore on me a bit though. Found myself wanting their set to hurry the fuck up mid way through.

Nails rocked... Of course. Pinion and Wish were probably one of the coolest things ever... Deep somewhat unexpectedly rocked live (Burn was a treat too). Didnt really get much out of the new song, only cuz' I have to hear things a few times to "get" them. The Eraser/RWIB/BYIT screen combo kicked an immesurable ammount of ass. THTF seemed to have more energy than the album version. It lends itself well to performance. Jerodie cracked me up during Down In It. The smirk on his face and the motions he was making with his hands were priceless. Heh... kinda hard not to laugh after some of the things I read in the Manson autobio. Anyways... The show was just awesome, and I dont know what people are saying about energy... I saw a lot of action, but I guess I was kind of in the middle of it, a few people from the rail.

Fuck you: Elephant girl and her friend who wiggled in front of me, screetching, "moshing", and generally being unattractive to Queens.

Thank you: The chick in the "Free Winona" and everyone around there, including the girl (Ronan?) who went and got us some water, you guys were cool.

I got to meet Rob Sheridan

He was awesome. We talked about Motion for a while. Apparently someone else edited the the projected footage, but he did most of the show stuff.

Great show... Got the pleasure to be up front on the Jeordie side, he's got so much presence, really made my show.
Yea the crowd wasn't as into it as many past shows I've been to. I struck up a conversation with one of the security guards before the show. He said they were told to be really tight on the pit control, and that was very obvious, but overall were very nice, just doing their job.
QOTSA rocked, but I'm a huge fan so they can't do wrong in my eyes, Josh is always hilarious.
There was one small blonde dreadlocked downfall to my show though... jesus, there was so much stink coming from such a small little girl. It would be nice if everyone followed the same hygene practices when being squished together on the floor, but what can you do.

had great seats in the section right by the stage, which was a double edge: "normal" songs that were performed looked fantastic, but for the trilogy of "screen" songs, beginning with eraser, i was too close to the stage to actually see it. logically, i left my seat and stood in the aisle, was yelled at three times by security, so i went to another section entirely and stood in the aisle, where i was again met my security. i was in no one's way, and just trying to enjoy the show, yet security was relentless in being boisterously assholish.

didn't care for the new song at all. dare i say it was horrible? definitely the only lull of the entire performance.

been a fan for 16 years, and while it was a fantastic show (my first!), i would have loved to have seen a few other treats (piggy, even deeper, the great below, etc.). perhaps they'll play it during their 2010 tour...

p.s. i took some relatively good photos, but have nowhere to post them. if anyone is aware of a free posting site, please let me know.

To the three shirtless crunk-heads punching and flailing, notably the jackass in the black cowboy hat: go back to Enumclaw. Crashing around hurting people is not "getting the pit started", and dry-humping the girl nearest you like a horny dog when everyone is crushed together is just filthy. Okay, I'm finally home! I got in the spiral line around 1pm. there were about 8 people in line before I had gotten there. (i was the dude w/ the red sleeveless shirt w/ black hair). anyways... Consecro_Sonitus and I walked up towards the space needle which is next to a food court so we could get soemthing to eat. this was about 3pm i'd say. He had to use the bathroom so we went in there and sure enough we see trent! He started to walk past me and I said "trent!" and he turned around and said "whats up man?" and I stalled for a few seconds and said "I'm looking forward to the show tonight" and he said "thanks.. me too!" then i said "we'll see ya later" and he nodded his head and went on his way.

trent was sitting at a table w/ a few other people..his girlfriend and head of secuirty. Consecro_Sonitus and I evantually headed back to the spiral line and trent and the crew followed (the tour bus was right next to the line) we turned around and trent talked to a few people. I went up to him and shook his hand.. and he signed my shirt ..haha I didn't have anything else for him to sign.. i forgot to bring anything with me.

we waited in line for a few more hours and we were told that trent decided for the spiral to enter a soundcheck. the first one for the US tour. everybody was excited. there were about 30 people who got in the venue and we saw about 4 songs being performed.

afterwards, we were escorted outside of the venue to wait in line for about 15 min then we got inside about 15 min before the general public. I had GA so I was in the first row slightly right of center.

autolux started before everybody was in the venue. I like thier sound a lot but I wasn't exactly in the mood for it at the current time. They didn't seem to be into their own music either. They didn't even mention who they were or say anything to the crowd.

qotsa came on and the venue was still fairly empty. I own both of their albums and I thoguht they put on a good show. I felt that their setlist was kind of weak though (compared to portlands show which was pretty badass)

I enjoyed both acts but because the venue was half empty and the crowd didn't seem to react to either bands..it seemed like this show wasn't going to be very exciting..at least not what I imagined it to be like. but sure enough when NIN came on stage it changed everything. the place was packed all of a sudden and for those of you who said the crowd was weak... well were you in the first row? I had to battle people to keep my spot! i eventually lost it toward the last 2 songs..but not very much. I couldnt believe how close to the stage I was. oh yeah!.. trent also threw a water bottle at my face. it fell to the ground but i managed to grab it! i shoved it in my pants for the remander of the show haha..

becase of the spiral, I met cool people (including trent!) and got to be front row for NIN. it was crazy! for those of you who are still doubting the spiral then good. you give the rest of us spiral members better chances to participate in these special extra events. (soundchekcs etc.)

oh yeah props to spookshow for burning me a CD with pictures he took. see you guys in vancouver!!

Well the concert was GREAT!! Everyone said everything I wanted to say about it so I'll just add an opinion, 2 comments, and a question.

The opinion is even though NIN's set was awasome, To me it looked to "neat" for lack of better words. I've attended 3 other concerts before this, 2 Downward Spiral shows + 1 Fragile show. The stage setting for those tours were amazing I thought, and liked the look of Charlies Keyboard setup (The springy setup). Hard to explain what I mean other than that.

The comment I have is I too hate Un-neccasary pushing and shoving. I was stage left right next to the gate. I had my son to my left and a smaller girl to my right (wearing black and what sweater or something) and I was wearing my downward spiral shirt. Anyway little over half the show went by and I'm noticing people trying to get the security guards attention because another smaller girl behind me was getting rudly pushed and shoved and it wasn't even neccasary and didn't look like she was enjoying the show at that moment. So I decided to give her my spot next to the gate and I stood behind her putting my hands on the gate "blocking" her in so she can move about and enjoy the rest of the show as it should be enjoyed. So to all of you "shovers-just-to-shove-and-be-rude" FUCK YOU!! Please learn to be considerate of others and enjoy the natural crowd surges as they happen.

My other comment is I didn't know the 2 bands that played before NIN (Autolux and QOTSA) but I thought they were pretty good.

And now my question is, Does anyone know any of the songs they played while we were waiting for the show to start?

Of course I remember you! Hope you had a good show. When NIN played the Gorge, I was almost crushed at the very front. Anyone who was there can tell you about the ambulances taking people away, and Trent asking everyone to calm down. I got out okay, but since then, I try to keep an eye on the people around me.

Wow! I was the guy in the kilt who protected your friend! I think her name started with "Ash" but I'm not sure what the last part was, either way, tell her she's welcome. I think I remember you too....

Anyway, great show, but why is everyone dissing on Autolux? They were great! The frontman played that feedback like magic and the drummer showed a lot of grace in her work! Just because a bands not that popular doesn't mean you have to call them crap! If "Queens" was not that well known I'd bet you'd all be booing them too.

While I'm on the subject of people who annoy me, "Miss Pink Sweatshirt Making My Own Little Circle Pit" is #1 on the list. You were about 11 rows back and know who you are, and mindlessly flailing about into the people on all sides of you does not count as being the "Toughest Chick" in the pit.

The show started with Pinion and we couldn't see any of the band members, then they performed Love is not enough behind a mask of curtain which made for an interesting effect. The show lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes, and amazingly, for being such a long setlist, there was not a single boring moment. Midway through he show the curtain came back down, and there was an awesome montage for Right Where it Belongs, Eraser, and Beside you in Time. It was funny in some spots, but mostly very brutal. It showed images that protested the bush administration, greed, war, and, the lame hurricane katrina efforts. Way cool. He performed a new song titled "not so pretty now" or something like that, and it was really innovative and a little funky-- I could see this being a radio single for his next album, easily, as it shows a really cool new direction for NIN that reminds me of ONLY. (Which btw, was the last song he finished for WT.) Hurt, Starfuckers, The hand that feeds, and Head like a hole were the finishers (of course), and all of them were performed quite well. (In the past, I haven't liked the boots of THTF-- it sounded like a bad live transfer, not the case this time around.) When he performed ONLY live it was one of the best songs of the night. It was way stripped and different than the album version, but it was a whole lot of fun. And speaking of fun, he actually played deep, the most hated NIN song for the fans. And it was fun.He also played the frail and the wretched, and the wretched was by far the loudest song of the night (as far as bass goes anyway.) Awesome and intense performance

this was my second show, my fiirst in 94 with bowie on the self distruct tour was killer but didnt remember much cu'z i was so messed up anyways i took my brother to this and this was his first 9 concert awesome so anyone that has complaints about this concert arent true fans yes the security was a little nuts but over all this was awesome and hello kendra and amber in vancover

I have a few questions. What camera do you use, and how did you get your camera in? Where is the great photo of the hurt "light" vigilance?, i had my disposable because i didnt want my good camera to be confinscated and so in return i got ok photos and no hurt photo, and my hand was almost on fire once with my lighter, i was in front of jordie white on the floor btw. Skeletor jacket. Right below the chick that flashed the crowd up in the seats. Plus there is My Space, thats a great place to post pictures and stuff. If you do that, please let me know about it. To those of you whining about people sitting down in seats they paid for,I was in a full body cast,but I was wiggling my toes to the beat so shut the hell up!! Did you not enjoy the show enough to pay attention to the STAGE??? Or do you have ADD? I myself was watching what I paid to SEE and experience....If you want to judge people for no good reason whatsoever, go around the world taking pictures of people to make fun of and write a blog about it like Rob Sheridan.

In other news,whilst downtown the day before the show I spotted Jeordie eating. I noticed his big googly eyes staring at me and even though I was in a full body cast,I suddenly felt naked and somehow dirty and hobbled away as fast as I could. Ironically during my getaway I spotted Trent walking down the street with 2 big bodyguards. I almost crapped myself until I realized I was in a full body cast and how unpleasant that would be.The End.

the only downfall I forgot to add was that the girls behind us were getting completly squished by this guy, my husband made sure at least told me he was not gonna let them get hurt by him, that guy did get bit , by one of the girls I think or at least thats what this guy said, but he ended up next to me toward the end of the show , still this guy was was very rude to everyone around him...i hope those girls night was not ruined by him. He was slaming himself hard up against the girls...very bad move buddy.

HEY!! I was right behind you two, during Autolux, & QOTSA, but gradually got squeezed and shuffled to where i was there when i was able to snap some shots. I was the dude in the black jacket that had the glow in the dark skeleton. I also think that was the best show i have been to, and i have seen a lot. And for all those lame ass excuses from everyone else on this forum, yeah you know who you are, shove a weiner up your asses, i dont look at this show as a complete disaster, the crowd was just fine with the circumstances that we had, and second the place looked like to me was nearly sold out, and thirdly where is that photo of everyone and there lighters?

Um.... I just went to dimeadozen and there was some message about how there were too many members (?) so does anyone have a username or password or anything that we can use? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that this will happen to other people too. It was a great show and I (along with the rest of you, I'm sure) really want a recording! (That wasn't meant to sound as prissy as it did)

we came all the way from Alaska to catch this show and it was to say the least phenominal! NIN went well past what a show could ever be! They played a ton of new and old songs and was just awesome. The political statement that was made with the white curtain and the movie that played was excellent while they played in the background. I thought the crowd would be a bit more rough, but being an older NIN fan I was glad that it wasn't. I love the kids that come in only knowing like two of their songs. I sang to everyone! It was incredible and truly the best show either of us have been too.

I wanted to share the review I did for my college newspaper.

NIN- Concert review:

Genius…. Could there be another word for what Trent Reznor brought to the stage in Seattle on September 23rd ? It was a truly phenomenal experience one that I will treasure for some time. We flew out on a Thursday to catch the show at the Key Arena in Seattle. After many hurdles from cancellations of planes to having to sleep in the back of the car because we were too early for our hotel, the concert proved to be worth it all. Over the course of a decade, Reznor has started his own label, (Nothing Records), contributed to at Lollapalooza and Woodstock ’94, produced/executive produced three CD’s of Marilyn Manson, various soundtracks including Oliver Stone’s, “Natural Born Killers”, released a home movie and created music for the game “Quake”. Six years in between the last album, “The Fragile” and the new album, “With Teeth”, Reznor is still able to bring home the sound of angry, meaningful messages that only he can astound an audience with. Armed with the intellect and an extraordinary vocabulary talent, Reznor is able to transform these poetic creations into collaboration of different industrial sounds and political statements.
In the song, “Only”, he takes a strong stance on current political issues by technology in a way that most would be afraid to use. You could feel the anticipation and anxiety in the air. As the song strums it’s famous intro, a white cloth drops in front of the band. Just then the blank white screen lights up with graphic images of animals killing one another in order to survive, something you might see on the Discovery channel. The song progresses and you start to get a definite feeling of his political standpoint on the war and our president. The images changed to show President Bush dancing in the white house as he grins holding his dear wife safe in his arms. Then just as sudden as that scene had come, images of wartime violence and orphaned children plague the screen, making the audience go insane with cheers and lighters. This is just one was that Reznor was able to awe the audience with his talent.

Overall, it was an incredible experience and well worth the money that we spent in order to see these icons of modern industrial music perform. Reznor was able to appeal to old and young fans alike with songs like, “Head Like a Hole”, “Closer”, and “Kinda I Want To”. He is able to deliver older fans with memories of past good times and also to the younger audience a chance to know the ecstasy that NIN can bring. The crowd was a bit mellower than I thought it would have been. However, it was a good thing that security wasn’t judging entry on looks of potential offenders because most of the seats would have been empty. Amongst all of the hard-core gothic dressed people turned out for this concert you would also see people like me, that had been listening to NIN since the beginning and it was nice to see that we could all get along. There were only a few people that had been thrown up and over to the bouncers for the most part the crowd just sat back and enjoyed the ride only Reznor can provide.

Wow, I can't believe that noone mentioned the QOTSA freak with the painted face and sign on the left side of the audience. I'm sure he was peeing in his pants when Josh called him out in the intro to "No One Knows." I was blessed to be near him when he decided it would be fun to ram into people.

All in all, great show. Not much I can add that hasn't been said. Loved how Trent goofed up and tried to cover his screw up at the beginning of "Starfuckers." Great people all around me. And it was immensely cool to see how many people were on the floor as everyone was leaving the show.

lol, you mean "Skeletor"!! I was around that guy for most of the time until it got crazy enough to not remember/tell where exactly i was until the songs stopped. that guy was awesome! the very first QOTSA song he started a self-mosh pit, all the more hilarious by the long dreds. keep kicking ass Skeletor!!

i'd have to say this show was better then the one i went to earlier this year (Boston's Orpheum). the opening band there was the Dresden Dolls, who were only slightly better then autolux and likewise, i was just waiting for them to get off the stage. QOTSA, although i've never heard much of them beyond what's on the radio, was better then i expected. hmm, how do i compare the NIN sets? screw it, i can't. both were like magic. i only wish i could have stayed somewhat near the front throughout their set, but half the time i was just jumping and pushing.

can't wait for another tour.

I was at the Seattle show. I won't repeat every word everyone's already said for me, really.

Just..I loved it. It was a great show.

Though sorry, QOTSA is not my cup'a tea. Nope. Nada.

Wait, I'm not sorry. I don't have to like them.

Autolux was interesting. I can see why Trent chose them. Chick drummer, she was cool. I wouldn't buy a CD, the feedback thing got irritating after a time with the guitar, but interesting.

Also, I kept thinking the crowd looked a little calm, too, a reason I didn't get a floor ticket is I thought I'd get crushed, being a real shorty and all, and not be able to see. But someone's already said security were being dicks, so there you have it. Not the first time in Seattle.

I was in section 114. I was standing the entire time, as was my hubby, and trying to dance without falling over someone's seat. Several were standing there, but yeah, kinda tame, some of them. Hey, no matter. *I* got into it. Some people like to chill with their music, no biggie. I couldn't.

Great show. Hope they come back.
