Just got back to my friend's apartment. Setlist was the same as Fresno. Great show. I gotta say, at Seattle, I was feeling kind of burnt out, but this show reminded me why I do this shit. I can't fucking wait for Sacramento.

Man, what an awesome show! My first NIN show, and I have to say, it was all I thought it would be and more. I was suprised to hear Deep live, and it just confirmed what I've always said; Deep is an awesome song, it just had a horrible video;) The visuals during Right Where it Belongs were very powerful, nearly had me choked up. I was also glad to see Beside You in Time translated so well live.

Autolux were pretty cool, and I'm interested in hearing more of them after this show. QOTSA had a lot of good energy, but their set started to drag a little for me, possibly because I was getting so anxious to see NIN. NIN of course, blew them both away, but that's kind of a given.

I was suprised at how mellow the crowd seemed, especially down in the pit. I had seats, and too many people were sitting down up there; the people behind me even moved when my boyfriend and I stood up and we wouldn't sit the entire show. Oh well. Overall, the vibe of the crowd was pretty good, just suprisingly tame.

My first big show, and it was NIN. What a way to lose my concert going virginity. It was meant to be...

Awesome show from NIN. Autolux was crappy and Queens of the Stonage was too preoccupied with penis size. But Reznor pulled through and I don't think I'll be able to move my neck for weeks.

my second time seeing nine inch nails live, and it seems that reznor just gets better and better. the set list mentioned earlier in the string was exactly how the show unraveled. i was shocked as fuck to hear a bunch of stuff that was old played like it was still brand spanking new. burn, deep, just fuckin awesome. the silk screen projections of animals, war, terror, and nature, alongside the music almost had me crippled with muscle spasms. hell, i almost broke a tear seeing it all co-exist perfectly with the music.

reznor has seriously one-upped himself from the fragility tour. this definitely was an awesome evening, and was my one month anniversary gift to my significant other, and my friend/vocalist tagged along for his first ever NIN live experience. everyone was blown away. who the fuck was that bitch that flashed her tits in the pit? that was some shit. too bad my cell couldn't pick up the tits in the light. i could have timed it just right.

may post the photos i did take even if shitty online somewhere. but you have to correlate my user name with it just to find em. if i can pull em.

i'm expecting to see NIN come back very soon once again... twice in 5 years, and it's fucking awesome.

i think between QOTSA and NIN, or between Autolux and QOTSA, people were definitely looking at me acting like a tweeker with a fucked up hat on. you'll see me again someday when you're least expecting it. maybe at the next NIN concert?

Just got home from the show! I had a great time. I think Autolux was decent, and the QOTSA rocked. Some asshole threw stuff on the stage during their set, but Josh handled it well. Mockery is always amusing.

As for NIN, well, what can I say? I am so glad TR is back, and healthy and putting on a great-fuckin show! My friend, who attended 'the Fragile' concert with me (also at the RoseGarden) agreed that the energy tonight was so much different and better than last time. The audience was pretty mellow, as I think someone mentioned in another post, but it was like that last time too. I don't know why there were so many empty seats, I had heard the Seattle show sold out super quick.

Let's hope now that TR is clean and healthy, it won't be another 5 years before he comes back through the Pac.N.W. I for one, would love to see lots more shows.

autolux was boring.

i was sort of hoping for some unplayed songs[except deep] but oh well, it was great.
my personal highlights were TLBTB, sin and only.
BYIT sounds exremely wierd live with jeromes 1-2-1-2 drumming but the visual made up for that.

I loved the crowd. Oregonians don't have to act like fucking morons and randomly shove people while singing poorly to enjoy a concert. I was wishing that I'd bought GA tickets, but once we got to our seats, it was an amazing fucking view. We were on the lower level, just in front and to the right of the stage. It was a perfect view without the sweaty frat and goth rubbing. And Trent is...fucking intense. I've never seen such a genuine performer. It was so fucking cool when he smacked the mic stand after Terrible Lie. A couple songs in and he was the fucking maniac Trent that we all know and love. And if the girl that goes to U of O, blonde, PHM shirt is on ETS, I saw you. Hi. I used to work at Grab n Go.

i don't know what you guys are talking about. i enjoyed autolux a hell of a lot more than queens. they had great energy to them. i'm going to run out and get their cd tomorrow, in fact.
i was seriously blown into another dimension. did you guys catch it when twiggy and aaron jumped off speakers at the smae time on opposite sides of the stage? i forget what song that was. and i loved how he intro'd "down in it" by saying "this song is fucking old". the eraser/right where it belongs sequence was stellar. very moving. i especially dug the "political" content.
deep kicks ass live. i mean, all the songs did, but that one was especially surprising. everything felt so spot on. i left feeling so energized.
i also went ahead and spent the thirty dollars on a shirt. i had to, of course.
the right where it belongs version was so gorgeous. is that how the studio version sounds in the alternate?
hurt was incredibly powerful.
beside you in time was stunning.
only kicked my ass.
the heand that feeds felt a little...hmmm...i think maybe it should have come earlier. maybe it should have switched places with the line begins to blur.

i'm still reeling from the whole experience.

Um...I was in the mosh pit,with only one person in frount of me,and I was wondering if I was right when I saw Twiggy...um pritty much start humping one of the speakers near the end of the show?...and I shure hope that was water!? Don't get mad,i'm not lieing,others saw it to.

yes, he does it every show, on the exact same song, and i believe he is putting his guitar behind the speaker to get some abnormal sound, all the while enjoying a quicky! nothin' wrong with that...

I enjoyed Autolux a lot more than I did in Seattle. Maybe because I was on the floor this time - I think they're just geared more toward smaller theater shows. An arena seems to swallow them whole. They're fun though.. in a silly emo sort of way.

Queens, however, I wasn't into as much tonight. I think the people saying that Josh is basically a drunken bastard may be on to something. I'm also curious how many times he's said the hot dog bit so far.. look for it next show. This is two in a row.

They just tore through everything like mad even if there were empty seats and half the floor was asleep (hell, half the floor wasn't anywhere near capacity - you could basically walk around during the show). I'm glad I went with GA for this one though - in the seats, especially near the stage, you miss out on half the entertainment. From the floor, the lighting is really impressive. Half the show is happening behind the band.

Not so Pretty Now wasn't played tonight. I feel bad for saying it sucked the other day but it kinda did. Sin sounds the best it ever has - that bass riffage they added is killer. Burn continues to be amazing, Gave Up kicked my ass, and Only & Down in it turned the place into a total disco again. Good stuff.

Random: You potheads are some real brazen individuals. Maybe I'm getting old but if I had it my way, security would at least be confiscating your shit, if not throwing you out.

I had a great time, unfortunatly I wasn't close enough to the stage. Am I the only one having a hard time getting used to Trent with almost no hair? The visuals were insane, but the only thing I was really hoping to hear that new song I've been hearing about, but I guess not. Kick ass show, I shoulda brought binoculars.

I've been to 3 of the "club tour" shows this year and loved the hell out of them all. But this was by FAR the best performance from NIN yet. Completely solid in every aspect. The new LCD screens are fucking amazing and I enjoyed what they did with them this time more than what they did with them in the Fragility tour. I had a great time and was blown away. I was expecting this to not even come near to the experience that I had seeing them play in small venues...not the case!

Autolux, I liked them. I've heard their CD and enjoyed that.

Queens...not the worst but I was just praying at the end of every fucking song that it was their last. I got a kick out of how drunk the lead singer was but couldn't give a sweet fuck about the music.

Beautiful night and I hope to Christ that Trent keeps up with the music and touring because I'd hate to have to wait another 5 years to see them again.

queens were great. they played very solidly showing why they could be one of the best live bands around.

nin. wow. what can i really say? the lighting was amazing. reznor had as much energy and aggression as he has ever had. the new band is really talented. i saw the fragility tour in san fran and this was as good.

i only wish we would have heard a little more off of the fragile. the great below would have made my night.

in other news, i ended up at the after 'party' at the rose garden. it was really really strange. it was a large room with banquet tables. everyone just sat there confused. finally jerome, aaron, and jeordie came into the room. everyone just sat there and looked at them. and slowly one by one they all left. no one, me included ever got up from a seat and said a word to the band. i feel kind of bad about it myself. everyone was just waiting for reznor, who never showed up. personally i was so overwhelmed by the whole situation to have the guts to walk up to them and say anything. all of it was very bizarre.

about the pot --- you are in oregon, sir. you'll find pot at *every* show you attend. it's the oregon way!

at one point, i was really wishing queens would have just got off the stage. maybe the NIN set could have been longer...one can dream.
i really do wish autolux would have played a few more songs. i thought they were much more interesting than queens. his comments made him sound like a dumbass. i lost of respect for the guy that allegedly recorded a mythic metal album at the age of 19 in the middle of the desert. whatever.

i never realized before how HUGE the rose garden is. i was supposed to meet some friends by the marquis across from the max after the show, and it took me forever to find it. i was so disoriented when i walked out.

i wish i had more money to catch more show on this tour.

did anybody grab a tour book? i'm curious who is responisble for the lighting concept. i liked the "tooth-like" monitor thingies.

The show was fucking amazing.

Autolux kicked ass, I want to marry the drummer. I don't really like Queens so much, and I was close enough to the right stack to plug my right ear through a lot of their set, so my ears wouldn't be ringing before NIN came on.

I was right up against the bar for the whole show and the couple next to us had just come down from Seattle's show the night before, so they were able to give us some incite as to what to expect.

TR forgot the lyrics at the ending of Burn for a bit. The look on his face was priceless.

Once the house lights came back on, one of the security guards gave me an itty bitty piece of Aaron's smashed guitar.

Other than your usual "oh, they play the fuck you like an animal song" kids, the show was fantastic.

i am in agreement with some of you. i've seen trent on his last two tours (spiral and the fragile) and this one reminded me of the old days. he had gusto. right where it belongs blew me. only thing i wanted was another band opening not queens. last time i saw him, a perfect circle opened. before that, manson. come on, queens? oh and i did hope they would come out with maybe one or two more songs, you know a bit of an encore like in previous tours.

My first NIN show, since I barely missed the fragile tour. Autolux was ok but the sound seemed pretty bad. Queens of the stone age rocked my socks and were awesome. Trent really is fucking buff, damn.

burn was my favorite. I cant believe that I didnt get floor seats, damn you ticketmaster! I was just to the right-front of the stage, and that is my favorite spot because it is so close.

I went to the seattle show the night before..and I'd have to say overall portland was better.

I thoguht autolux was pretty good in seattle but lastnight in portland they put on their best show yet! They mentioned that this was their biggest crowd so far (the show started later than previous shows). their sound was louder and they seemed to be into what they were playing this time around. I was in the first row slighty to the left of center. the bassist walked by after their set and shook my hand along with others. he seemed to be happy with the overall positive reaction portland gave them. there were a few people yelling "you suck" etc. but I'm looking forward to their set in vancouver.


after the show in seattle, i wasn't too excited about seeing queens of the stoneage... but they quickly changed my mind. they switched their set list a little bit and the music flowed a lot better. the crowd was way calmer in portland than seattle. i stayed in the front row durring the whole show without any problems.

nin came on and blew everyone away yet again. I saw some familiar faces and.. i'll be seeing some of you one more time on monday!

oh yeah, thanks to (i forget your name) but you were in front of the spiral line. you had an extra ticket for my girlfriend. we appreciate it! She saved a spot for you in the front but you never returned. (i think you moved to the other side) but in any case i hope u enjoyed the show as much as we did!

My first time seeing NIN. Been a fan for 10 years... I got to say it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I had a seat ticket and I was bummed about that, until NIN played. It was a perfect veiw. I only wish I could go see them again.

Yes. Rob was all over the floor after the show. Then I saw him out front. He was doing the video taping thing. I think that most people don't have any idea who he is which it probably the way he likes it.

He's a good guy. I kept trying to think of some way to get into the aftershow party without actually asking him for a pass. I really didn't want to be annoying and after hearing about what actually happened at the aftershow, I'm happy that we went back to the hotel as early as we did.

Close to a half gallon of Grey Goose was consumed by the four of us after the show. Mmm....fun! Patman was one drunk motherfucker!

back home today to the kiddies after watching trent and co last night up at the rosegarden. its the 3rd time i've seen nin in oregon, last time was when he opened for bowie ( which happened to be the first show ever at the rose garden), and the first concert i ever went to when i saw NIN at what was La Luna back in '94.

this was more of a nostalgia kick for me, as i took friends that had tagged along to those older shows.

his set was very good playing stuff off of every album, the political stuff was nice as we do live in f@cked up times. brought my wife along as i've made her listen to nails for the last 15 years, and this was the first time she has seen them live.

oh course i showed up late for part of the opening acts, and was in the bar until the NIN setup took place. i especially liked gave up, and would have preffered that pinion had broke into terrible lie as has always been the case in the past.

but overall great show, hopefully trent keeps producing good music and still has a voice. if so i'll probably drive the 300mile round trip again to see him perform in another 10 years.

Are you thinking of the "Every little fucking PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!" scream at the end of the MOTP outro? Because THAT was fucking intense!

I drove out last night and came back the same night, but couldn't get to my computer until now, and I have less to say than what I said about Seattle as it was the same set list (minus his new song). But I will say this: Queens of The Stone Age were on! Where as they just didn't seem to click the night before, they really rocked in Portland and saved my vision of them a bit. I didn't get there in time for Autolux, but the nails were every bit as good in Portland as they were in Seattle, ALTHOUGH, in my opinion Seattle had a much better sound system. That aside, Trent Reznor showed more energy in PO than he did in Seattle, and the arena had better visuals than his previous show. Reznor did a little more improvisation this time around, too, which as always, rules when it comes from him.

Good show. I was down on the floor about third row on the far left. The crowd, as others have said, was extremely mellow. I thought it'd be rough in the pit but it was one of the tamer concerts I've been to. Hell the Pixies reunion were rougher than this. I'd imagine Elton John concerts get rougher. But then again the stench of marijuana was so strong I'm afraid I won't pass my next UA. Unlike a previous poster, this wasn't a bother to me and was more than expected at a fucking rock concert.

I didn't realize they'd be serving drinks at the show... so I had more than enough before hand to last me through multiple sets. Unfortunately this meant I was totally blitzed at the start. I went to the bathroom during Queens and got in line to get back to the pit. The employed ladies informed me that I needed my ID to procede. I couldn't believe this, I mean I had already been in there. I'm not an angry drunk so I kept ravaging my pockets trying to find my ID. Apparently my gf had it. I kept confusedely telling them that I don't have my ID but I'd already been in there. After a good period of time it was brought to my attention that I was in the beer line... I'm 26 and old enough for beer but damn I felt stupid. I finally found my staggering way back to the floor.

Queens were good and I enjoyed the counter heckling of the lead singer. That guy has to be about the exact opposite of a normal rock front man. Short and red hair and built like a jock.

NIN was great and the stage set was great. Gotta love those little Atari looking blocks. Some guy in the pit started groping my gf's boobs. She got my attention and told me to stop him. He saw this and I believe apologized to me. It was too loud to tell. Jesus Christ did this dude smell bad. My gf is 5'2" and was constantly fighting being under this guys pits when he raised his hands.

Then some girl over half way through the set started trying to strong-arm her way to the front. She literally took her head and tried rhino-ramming it between my gf and the guy that was next to her. They resisted and after a while I got impatient and grabbed her and threw her backwards. A small circle broke in the crowd behind me and I found out I accidentally threw her on her ass... I didn't realize it until my gf told me after the concert. I felt bad even though my gf said she deserved it. So sorry if you're that chick.

All in all it was a great show but I was dissapointed that the pit seemed to be so mellow. I was ready to fight for my life. Danzig at Roseland was much more my idea of a pit. Like a boa constrictor of sweaty people fighting. If you're not careful then every breath you take only draws people closer to you until you suffocate to death.

It's hard to say whether I enjoyed this or the fragility one more. I'd lean towards the fragility but this one was still great. Unfortunately I think the Rose Garden is just too large of a venue and the energy just isn't there. I'd pay dollars to whale's dick that they'd own at Roseland and with much more crowd interaction. I realize they put on many concerts but acknolwedgement of the growd is mandatory. When I saw George Carlin he just did his routine like he was practicing in his dressing room. It was like we were watching a movie. I mean come on, let us know you're really in Portland and not just some motion picture. All in all, good show but I can understand why the arena wasn't full. He didn't "blow me away" by any means but he's not quite as relevant anymore either. Deep was a song I've ridiculed but it was actually pretty decent live.

this was my first NIN concert... and I FUCKEN LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!! it was soo much better then what i thought it was gonna be..... i just loved it the first 2 opening acts kinda sucked... the girl drummer was pretty cool, she was pretty good though.... trent is soo energetic i couldnt beleive it i love them

Hello all, was front row at the show, great show, let down because i wanted to hear not so pretty now, but hey, i downloaded the audio file from seatle...despite what others are saying, i like the song..hope its on the next album...

Set list is ok, still think burn isnt at all what it should be..its a great song, but lacks the dark vibe from the track off the natural born kills soundtrack..

im with others on the fact that i really didnt much care about the the song deep, but after hearing it live, i have to say will give it another chance..

am i alone in the fact that some songs are missing that could really give the show some more added controlled crazyness..

some good parts at the show, some guitar smashing, aaron destroyed guiatar at teh end of hlah, trent busted teh head off he guitar at teh end of terrible lie, but not much else in teh destruction element, not that i dont love seeing that, but hey, there's gotta be a point to the reason right..

overall i give it a 8 out of 10, dont get me wrong, i can recite every lyric, play a whole slew of songs on my guitar and can play the drums in my head without missing a beat, im a good fan, and im sure i will always be, but i think the point im making here is that other than the fact the new line up will never bring the raw/real energy as the previous one that was danny, charlie, and robin (jerome is ok in my books) i dont kwow why they are not in the band anymore, but i assume its because of drugs and the fact that trent had to clean house to get his shit in order, who know, he never said, and its really none of our business....dont get me wrong aaron, twiggy/jeordi/alessandro are cool guys, but i honesty got the vibe i got when i saw the "new" guns and roses perform on the mtv awards...left me thinking "what the hell is that"...im not trying to be a bastard or somthing just telling my opionion about the show, the energy of the band(the actual heart behind playing the tunes in respect as to just playing a song on stage) there was no attatchment, i dont know, it just felt like they threw non-fans up there and were taught the music and they are just doing there own thing up on the stage...

am i alone on this?

the pot-smoking at the rose garden bothered me. the moshing bothered me. i'm realistic about the situation, and know that its gonna be inevitable in front of the stage, but it would be nice to enjoy an arena show upclose with out inhaling burning fumes or getting knocked over by some stupid fuck going nuts. and a note on moshing: there is nothing cool about hitting and knocking people down who are just watching the show. i don't get it. but i'm getting off-topic and i don't wanna open this can of worms right now.

I don't know that the crowd was totally mellow as other posts suggest. I think they were just not organized. Didn't seem like a real pit ever developed which probably would have been better for all. I was up center stage one behind the rail and dealt with the boa constrictor which started midway through Autolux. It was getting so tight and sweaty during Queens that my girlfriend opted to hop over the rail and watch things a little more comfortably further back. Unfortunately the guy that took her place was humping my leg like a rabid terrier trying to get to the rail. Don't really get it since his spot was just as good as mine, mabybe he just liked me.

I was trying to protect the girls on the rail in front of me from those behind trying to claw their way up, but one of them just responded with elbows and kicks to the shin whenever we were pushed forward which really didn't help her or me. By the time Queens were done I'd collected enough of other people's stinky sweat and was ready to breath again so I moved back. Funny how just a few rows back the view was just as good and you could breathe. No terriers there either.

Overall a good show, this was my third. I did miss some of the variation that the Fragility tour provided. This one seemed to kick ass with only a couple breaks. A little more intensity, less subtle than the fragile tour, but so it the album.

Trent looks like a fucking machine...wouldn't have recognized him on the street!

First off - I had a great time. Missed Autolux... but caught most of QOTSA which didn't suck nearly as bad as I thought it would. With the exeption of the drunken contrived bantering of the idiot fronting the band. I've been a NIN fan for 15 yrs, since the begining. I believe this was the 5th show I've been to. Trent sounded fantastic, I love the new songs, the old stuff was great, and the visuals and lights were phenomenal. That said... yes something was missing. Maybe it was the band, maybe it was the energy level, I'm not sure what it was but of all the times I've seen NIN live this was the least impressive. Again, I wasn't dissapointed per se, I had a great time, and I'd definietly go again - provided I didn't have to pay $60 a pop for GA tix. This was my girlfriends first time seeing them (I've finally turned her into a NIN fan) and she walked away with the same feeling I had.

I'm totally coming out of left field with this one, But Friday night I was in Seattle to see Converge. Some of you on this board that like hardcore, know who they are. Anyway, after that the "pit" at the Rose Garden was like a comforting back massage. I go to Hardcore shows, and deal with getting kicked in the stomach or head, and hate it, but still, that's what feeds the energy sometimes.

...I still hate meathead jocks. Those kids need to go back to gym class and measure dick size.

I've seen Nine Inch Nails at the Rose Garden twice now, once @ Coachella, and once at La Luna. Every show has blown me away. Saturday night showed me why I love to write/play/enjoy music. With_Teeth is probably not as "good" as say TDS or the Fragile, as it doesn't have all the textures, but I think he was going for a more direct "rock" sounding album. I could be wrong about this, but that may be why he'd have Queens playing the show too. That or Aaron might have had a little helping hand in it. That kid is cool, actually, very. My bro's played with him and the Icarus Line a few years back, and then, he had crazy stage presence. -- This post is getting long and pointless.

But I must defend Autolux, for the fact that anyone who likes(d) Sonic Youth, should like them... IMO.

it was my first concert ever, thank god it was of my favorite band. i agree with PDX, there was alot going in the pit, even if it wasn't that big. people, i thought, were a little out of control, i wasn't trying to edge myself all the way up to the front, but everyone behind me was. ehh, what can ya do? as my first nin/concert experience ever it was amazing. i got out of the pit after qotsa, it was crazy already, knew it was just going to get crazier. got a nice little spot on the left hand side, lots of space, and a great view of the stage. next time i'll know where to stand. i thought the setlist was awesome.

so i'm seeing that, at least for pdx, that the spiral wasn't really that worth it? no meet and greet and no soundcheck? sheesh, i feel for bad for you guys.

and did anyone see the girls dancing like stupid sluts? if so, you were near me, because unfortunately they were RIGHT IN FRONT of me. [cries] who the fuck grinds on each other at a NIN show?! go to a club or better yet, become a stripper already. i kept looking around to make sure they were the only ones acting like idiots. they were, unfortunately for me.

Eventually some usher and some people he was with had to drag him out of the show.

i laso noticed that guy and i was on the other side of the area. to be honest he was a lot more fun to watch than QOTSA.

So in mid june I'm locked up in AIRWAY HEIGHTS PRISON "outside of SPOKANE, WA". When I recieve a letter from a friend about the comming NIN show. I still had a little more than a month left to serve. I immediately write a letter back, saying "NIN CANNOT BE MISSED". So I also start writing letters to a few people, trying to pre-plan scoring some "52-DSL" for the show. Because it goes without saying, to much acid and H. along with everything else I ended up being on is essencial for any N.I.N.show. I don't know about the rest of the world, but finding real acid has been impossible the last several years. So that was a key factor to get figured out before the show. I had two months of freedom to find some before the show. After much effort searching, magicly some how through a new friend, It all came together the day of the show. I'm not from portland, so my partner and I had to drive to portland early to hook up with our new friend. Finaly at 8:30, buissness was done.We dosed and were on our way to the Rose Garden.Just in time to not miss any of the NINset.
Well, You all saw the rest. The net screen was unbelievable. The way you could still see there silouets through the scene`s being projected. With the "TEETH" lights hanging in the very back, which visualy topped it all off by giving some unexplainable three dimentional depth to the band "TRENT" Rocking as hard as unhumanly possable behind the screen!Did anyone notice how on "Right where it belongs" the screen went up and caused the crowed to cheer right when the cheering on the album kickes in? Trent, that was an amazing touch to a great song, keep`em coming!
All in all it was as mind blowing as when I saw NIN at the"gorge" for the "Fragile", I think in `99.

After the show my partner and I were still severly temporarily chemicaly insane.When you know exactly where you parked 5 blocks away,But cant find the vehical FOR 2 FUCKING HOURS,or at least cant put reality together long enough to remember that you remember where it is and in all reality the two of us are ACIDMATICLY roaming the neiborhood looking like two insane wild animals ! As soon as I found myself in that situation I knew the mission I had planned from a "CAGE" was a success !!!

Queens Of the Stone Age were good, but not as good as I had expected, not as good as AL. Burn the Witch was great, but they absolutely butchered Go With the Flow...

As for NIN, wow. As soon as pinion went into love is not enough, my mind was blown... eraser, right where it belongs and surprisingly enough to me, BURN were the highlights for me...

Portland show was THE SHIT. utterly amazing. I half expected Trent to not really be putting his all into every song, especially once I saw how.....UN-ROCKING the floor was, and yet....He pumped out TWENTY-THREE fucking NIN songs with the utmost passion and intensity, and it blew my mind to smithereens!! The projection-video in the middle of the set is going to go down as one of the highlights of my life, I swear to god. It was incredible. People all around me were crying as it ended. Not cuz it was sad, but......goddamn it was just SO PERFECT. The timing, the images, the music. Hats off to TR for crafting one unforgettably badass show. Oh and by the way, The 'Spiral entrance' was the biggest joke I have ever had the displeasure of experienceing. I thought at THE WORST, it would direct you to some backstage/soundboard area or something, and let you get a tiny glimpse of the NIN workings behind the scenes, and AT BEST, you'd get to meet or atleast SEE the band before the show....HA!!! What a fucking letdown. My jealous friends who had to go in through the normal entrance were standing there waiting for me as I came in the 'Spiral' entrnace and it spit me out right next to them, amongst the thousands of people milling through the Rose Garden. I asked the lady there "what the hell? Where's the special 'something'" She said 'oh well you could have come inside a few minutes before other people' INSIDE being the MAIN AREA where they sell t-shirts and hotdogs....Ugghh....I was embarrassed and pissed off about that. Fortunately, that all melted away once the lights went down and Pinion fired up...........beautiful.

also, to those complaining baout pot smoke: you are in fucking oregon. in just about every show i have ever attended in oregon there was pot smoke. fuck, i even catch a whiff of it in bars sometime. if you don't like it, move to LA or something.

we got to witness one of the best shows yet this tour. that rocks. i had so much fun i was sore for two days.

what's worse is that my boyfriend had to point out the fact that someone was smoking pot. [once again, i know i'm naive!] never hung out with potheads and never smoked the stuff. i just thought it was some extremely sweet smell. when he told me what it was, i said...ooooh well that makes sense. ha!

Loved Autolux. I think it has a lot to do with knowing their material before the show though. On the floor, everyone around me was talking and not diggin them at all, but I love their music and think that their CD is fantastic.

Queens were dissapointing. I love their music and was QUITE excited to see them. A better setlist would have provided for a better experience, I believe.

Nails were great of course. Once I finally moved a bit, I found a group of people who had the same general concert-agenda as me. That's what made it perfect. I think a lot of a concert experience relies in the crowd, and while I'm glad that there were only a handful of crowd surfers, I was a bit dissapointed that I wasn't skuffed around a bit more or that most of people in seats were actually sitting.

To each their own.

i'm coming back to respond to quite a few responses that have been posted, since september 24th, hell it's almost a month later down the road!

so, being a native of Portland my whole life, it's retarded that i feel i have to say this kind of shit to people.

Portland recently was blasted all over Yahoo! News about being the new hub for independent music, because a lot of people here in town who are musicians don't give a fuck. it's the proper place to be creative.

Though that is different in regards to people's views on major label bands that do touring. I dug Autolux within the first few songs, because instantly hearing them the first time, it didn't wear on me as easily, but I got into it, whereas my band's vocalist who attended with me, didn't like them. it's our different opinion, but i can't blame him.

We both however agreed on QOTSA. kenny wasn't as much a fan as I was. I don't know what it was about them even seeing them live in concert. I saw them break out on radio and MTV in the last few years, and I have to admit, I dug it a little bit. then it began to wear off. I think it's just the sound isn't catchy enough for me.

NIN however, obviously kicked a lot of ass (which is what you want to read.) It took not more than 5 seconds when Pinion started playing over the P.A. system, that NIN was indeed still as good as ever and as wanted as ever. Regardless that they didn't play songs some people wanted to perform, NIN is still in a live band itself, constantly achieving perfection and allowing a minor bit of imperfection. In it's element in full, NIN never fails.

however, as well as a native Portland citizen my whole life, i can tell you you will always find pot at any show at the rose garden arena and the memorial coliseum. i played a few gigs of my own in 2004 and early 2005, and there were in fact a few people that holed themselves up in the toilets and smoked a bowl. some people even chugged a beer or two.

I performed a show with a local band now broken up, Child. everybody that evening was all about smokin a bowl and drinkin whiskey, rum, budweiser, and smokin bowls like a motherfucker.

it's our way of saying we want to be in our element while we appreciate what talent comes from our hometown. what talent comes through our hometown, we will do the same thing or be sober, and get fucked up afterwards.

though as retarded as this post may be for some viewers, i must admit, i felt i had to defend a bit of our culture, from people from out of town coming in and sayin some shit when they may not have lived through the culture of Portland.

at the NIN show, I saw people outside in the designated smoking areas smokin a blunt or two. like i'm going to rat on them because it's part of their style. met a bunch of people who won't stop calling my fucking cell phone either!

so i end this response. hope this indeed helps people with a bit of reflection. and yes the singer from QOTSA should probably mellow out on the penis jokes. why don't ya try to take him to the hot dog stand with ya and ya both can shove a hot dog in your ass and see who can stick it in the furthest, and whoever wins gets a fuckin hummer or some shit? you're crackin them jokes, offer a prize and tell em what you want for christmas!
