they played pilgrimage, mr.selfdestruct, the big comedown, even deeper, please, and everyday is exactly the same, as well as all the normal stuff.

someone else will have to give the set list cause i cant remember them all. they played a lot of songs though.
Master Traveler
Great show. Hearing Mr. Self Destruct was a nice surprise. Trent was quite chatty at the end of the show saying that he is currently writing the new album, and something regarding bad fish and him throwing up during Eraser. Cant quite remember the setlist in whole, but yes Even Deeper, Please, Big Comedown, EDIETS, With Teeth were played. Same stage setup, nothing really changed there. Still had the projection for Eraser, RWIB, BYIT. Band was quite tight, but maybe i was wrong but the crowd seemed a little lacking in energy. Could have just been from my perspective though. Lots of smiles from the band, and seemed like they were glad to be back on stage.

My two cents

the concert was simply amazing... best stage/light show ive ever seen next to iron maidens crazy shit. i have seen almost every band worth seeing and that was just amazing. i was in the very front of course! the guitarist threw his smashed guitar out and i grabbed the neck first then a mob of people ripped it to the ground and all i could keep hold of was the strings :( the strings were digging into my skin hardcore and i was bleeding, the fucking things just wouldnt break! so anyways i got a peice of wood from it. o well, best song live was right were it belongs then hurt
Master of the Ninth Arch
it was good, but the pit was kinda weak

I nearly got my nose broken on the main floor ... I ended up becoming befriended for the night by these two really cute and hilarious young Chicago guys and one of them threw his head back right into my nose. I could hear this "crunch" and I thought, "shit, I hope my nose doesn't bleed, please don't let my nose bleed, please don't let my nose bleed," and it ended up that he could FEEL his head hit my face so he turned around, "are you okay? are you okay?" - yea, you smacked my nose, is it bleeding? - No, not bleeding - I turned around and asked my friend - no, not bleeding. It sure *felt* like it was gonna bleed at any second - then... wow, my eyes started watering like crazy! After dabbing my eyes, I started jumping around again and tried to just ... move on. Later, the culprit, Adrian, kept saying, "boy, I'm glad you're okay, I would have felt REALLY bad if I'd broken your nose!!"

While I was driving home, I blew my nose. Dried blood. Luckily, the bleeding had stopped before it turned into a gusher.

Cool! A War Wound!! 8-)

Wooo hoooooooooooooooooo PLEASE!! And MR. SELF DESTRUCT!!! And THE BIG COMEDOWN! And EVEN DEEPER!!!

It was a fantastic show!

Even though my nose hurts and Trent puked something that made his mouth taste like salmon. Whoa! Pukey!!
Bricklayer
The best NIN show that I've ever seen. It was awesome to see Aaron North getting more violent that he ever has, but Trent had to throw a water bottle at him in the second song.

They played a balance of all four albums. I very much enjoyed:

Wish
Please
Even Deeper
Mr. Self Destruct
Every Day is Exactly The Same
The Becoming
Sin

I enjoyed the fact that Trent stated that he was so nervous that he vomitted and tasted salmon even though he hasn't tasted salmon in two months. He mentioned that he had to vomit because he was so nervous about his show. He also stated that when you're recording that you lose human contact. He was glad to be around people.

Can't wait to hear his new album!!!

Dammit, Beav. I figured you'd be there, but I never saw you.

Great show, much better than the two from the previous '05 tours in May and October in Chicago.

Much better set, much tighter sound, and a good, yet un-energetic, crowd.

'Twas my girlfriend's first time seeing them live. She loved it. Especially went T dizzle got chatty.
Master of the Ninth Arch
nice to see you at the show sugarplum and artgirl... you guys are totally going to cyber-stalk me now, arent you?

oh yeah, im the jerk-wad that yelled SALMON during his little monolouge...

well trent found it amusing.

yummymayo wrote: oh yeah, im the jerk-wad that yelled SALMON during his little monolouge...

Heh, my girlfriend and I laughed at that.
Grand Inspector
I forgot Sugarplum's and Artgirl's phone numbers at home so I never saw them, even though they were probably standing 10 feet from me on the floor. THAT WAS A SMALL MAIN FLOOR, WOW! I'll see you ladies tomorrow (Wigglebutt's riding with me).

Sorry I missed you, too, THX.

The guy next to me kept yelling "TRENT! YOU'RE GIVING ME A BONER!"

Why am I still awake?? I just drove 3 hours! Bedtime...
Amazing fuckin show, an exceptional performance by all the members of the band. it was the first time i saw josh freese with nin and he seemed to be enjoying himself. The songs played off TF(Please, Frail/Wretched, The Big Come Down, Even Deeper) made my night. The crowd up in the seats didn't seem to be getting into it too much(well at least most of it). TRs speech was amazing aspecially what he said about the new album(the fact that he's actually working on it).
No one has seemed to post it yet, but they played Burn from the Natural Born Killers Sound Track. I was shocked to hear it as it's my favorite NIN song.

-I'm gonna burn this whole world dooooooooooooown!

^^^ They did NOT begin with Pinion. They did NOT play The Becoming - I think he meant The Big Come Down - and, someone from my group thought he heard Pilgrimage - but our general consensus was that this song wasn't in fact, played.

Great show.

And Trent didn't say he puked because he was nervous. He just said he puked b/c his stomach was "feeling funny".

what I personally heard was part of pilgrimage used as the intro instead of pinion. it was the yelling army marching noise piece of it, not the whole song.

that's what i heard too. it was that marching chanting part and it faded in and got very loud.
howdy wrote:did anyone pay any attention to the opening band? worth a listening or worth skipping?
i didn't like them at all.
Master of the Ninth Arch
They opened with Pilgrimmage. PEople were very confused. The chanting lead into the bulk of it and then they launched into MrSelf Destruct abruptly.

They did not play Gave Up and Suck back to back like normal so if someone can please post an accurate setlist.

The Moving Units sucked. They are the first opening band in my 12 years of seeing NIN that I did not enjoy.

Of the 9 shows I have attended, this one seemd unique, even though a lot of the usual suspects were played. The sequence of the songs played almost seemd to have a very spur of the moment feel as if maybe a few of the soongs were called out on stage. Perhaps not, but it just felt that way.

The lighting was very different from the last leg except for the projection portion of the show and TLBTB.

Hope you all had as much fun as we did and I cant wait to see them next month to see where they take this show.
Grand Inspector
Wow, weird, I really liked Moving Units. Go figure.

I broke a nail. One of my best ones, too. And it was all jaggedy.

So there I was, during Hurt, filing my nail by the light of Bic lighters. 8-)

There was a GIANT guy in front of us, slamming around, and my friend G goes, "Look! It's Joe Mama Besser!" hahahahahahhahahaa
Master Traveler
howdy wrote:did anyone pay any attention to the opening band? worth a listening or worth skipping?
They were ok. Best part about them was they were only on for about 25 minutes.

Awesome that Trent felt like telling a story. Plus there were a lot of thank you's thrown in after songs. Great to see the first show of a tour.

Hopefully someone recorded it. For the second straight show(first being last tour's St. Louis show), I couldn't believe how easy security was. They basically just wanted people to open their jackets for a quick look. I didn't see any patdowns.

I like the Star Theater configuration. I wasn't sure how good my seats would be, but it turned out we were closer to the stage than ever before.

Josh Freese was awesome.

I am still in shock about how easy it was to get out of the parking lot. Last time I was at a show there, I got stuck in the lot. This time I drove right out, and was back on 74 within minutes.
Master of the Ninth Arch
oh and for those who plan on getting a silkscreen, better get there SUPER early. I tried to buy one 45 mins before the opener and they were sold out.

first show of the tour? that's bullshit.

Pretty sure I got the last one. I overheard some conversation between the merch people and they said none of the booths had anymore.

Heh, sorry.
The show was absolutely AWESOME. I was so happy to hear Mr. Self Destruct, Please, The Big Come Down, Even Deeper and Every Day . . . i mean everything else was great too of course, but I love each of those songs and hadn't heard much of them during the last tour.

Josh Freese rocks, Trent was a regular chatterbox (well for him), Alex was bouncing about like a crazed gnome as usual . . .unfortunately the energy level was kinda blah . .well here's hoping that the next two shows I see are better . . and include Sunspots
Master Traveler
wreckloose wrote:Alex was bouncing about like a crazed gnome as usual
Aaron I assume?

Aaron was absolutely out of control for most of the concert. He seemed tired at the end, but he was the craziest I've ever seen him. He was contemplating jumping into the crowd at the end, but didn't, so I think he was just plain tired at the end. (NIN security came down and had the normal security move to the sides of the one place Aaron could actually jump off the stage.)

Show was great. The current setlist posted close but wrong. Burn needs to be in there (before closer?), and maybe something else?
Grand Inspector
People are so stupid -- Reznor starts telling a story and he hardly ever talks, so those of us in the know are, like, wow, he's telling a story, but idiots in the audience are yelling "I love you, Trent" and "I wanna suck your dick, Trent" and they don't shut the fuck up, and you have the feeling the story was headed somewhere, but then he just kinda gives up... and my friend and I look at each other and roll our eyes.

I guess Frat Boys are to be expected in a college town.

(Btw - his story included telling us that he's spent the last two months sequestered, writing the new album.)

Oh... Every Day is Exactly The Same is really good live.

I still don't like "Only" live. I dunno, it just conveys differently than how I interpret it on the album, and live it kinda (kinda) reminds me of when New Order does "Love Will Tear Us Apart" like it's a dance party, come on, wooo, everybody, sing along!!!! 200 frat boys wildly dancing to Only somehow has a similar, ironic affect for me. Maybe that's mission accomplished, I dunno. That's become my "dig through my purse in the dark and apply more lip gloss while avoiding being trampled by these idiots" song.
Master Traveler
whatsleftofj wrote:so, to confirm, there was no 'sin'? and what are these silkscreens you speak of? any cool merch?
Just to be clear, you're supposed to only post in here if you were at the concert. And sin was played. Second.

God I hope someone got a bootleg of it, but I'm worried no one has mentioned anything about it. There are so many boots that sound exactly the same, I hope that this unique concert doesn't get lost. (I doubt there'll ever be another salmon story.)
Master of the Ninth Arch
yea there was something that sounded pilgrimagey as the intro... im not sure if that was the intention or not...

my friends and i thought it was still one of the pre-set songs over the PA and i was starting to wonder if trent had some third reich fetish or something.

no pinion, no becoming, and no down in it.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Beavette wrote:Wow, weird, I really liked Moving Units. Go figure.
yeah, opinions differ like that.

I'm still not sure why there is confusion about Pilgrimage. It happened, people. It was -definitely- intentional and TOTALLY fucking rocked!

Beavette makes a great point about EDIETS being a great live number.

I go to U of I, and I was at the show, I have seen them on the last two legs of the tour in Chicago.

Just a though, I have been extreemly upset that I have not been able to get general admission to the floor at the last two concerts. Even as a student, we got tickets a day before they went on sale to the general public and we STILL couldn't get the floor. Something needs to change about the Spiral.

As for the show, I was blown away. I liked the setlist much more than the last two times that I have seen them in Chicago, the sound was great, the band had energy, the crowd did NOT.

Did anyone down in the pit see the skinhead guy standing in the back right (facing the stage) corner just ROCKING OUT the ENTIRE show by himself about 10 feet from everyone else? He was going friggen' nuts. About 3 or 4 songs into the set, they sent down 2 security people and 3 medics who didn't leave the rail directly to his right the entire show, they focused on him for about 90% of the time to. Good stuff.

Starting with Mr. Self Destruct was sweet, Hurt was the best live version I have seen thus far, the screen projections were the same, but as awesome as the last time. There was a very diverse crowd there, and I turned several of my friends onto NIN after seeing that show. They were dave mathews type fans earlier, and OAR is playing the same venue at the end of the weekend, they told me they were not looking forward to it, and may not even go after seeing how awesome NIN was.

I shaved my head into a mohawk just for the show, and then went out to the "frat" bars afterwards... good times and awesome looks from everyone.

Anyways, I think I've said enough, I really was impressed by the show and wish I had another chance to catch another leg of this tour.
Bricklayer
To clear some things up...

There was no meet and greet/sound check. To that I'd like to add Brandi is doing a fantastic job. She notified people of the fact so everyone didn't stand in the cold for no reason. This was my fourth show in the last year and every one, Brandi has done an exceptional job keeping the spiral people organized and happy.

To nin, Pilgrimage came on over the house music for a good 30 seconds before the lights went down. They moved to Mr. Self Destruct right before the guitar part of Pilgrimage started up.

When Trent got talkative, it was very casual and conversational. He was talking about how he always feels weird the first couple shows of a tour, and then a guy right behind me in the seats yells "I love you Trent!". Trent says something to the effect, "That's one reason I feel weird, another is during Eraser I puked up salmon, and I haven't had salmon for a month." It was pretty funny, especially for us real nin fans, you know who you are.

The crowd sucked, bottom line. I was in the fourth row of seats dead center and people were sitting all around me. We suspected as much before the show, as we saw many college students who were apparently there because they didn't have anything better to do.

But, all in all, for the real fans, the setlist was fantastic, and the band sounded superb. Josh might be the best drummer to play with nin. The Assembly Hall was a great venue for the show.

p.s. The Moving Units have potential. The lead singer mentioned he was really sick, and you could tell, so I think they get a pass on this one.
he was perfect! Chatty and i must say he rocked out playing the tamborine on a few songs! He mentioned something about just finishing writing his new album. and everyone went nuts then he said "dont cheer, you havent heard it yet" lol. And him and aaron were battling all night it was great, during the 1st few songs trent pushed aaron, aaron got pissed and kicked over the water table and threw is guitar, then when trent saw his water table smashed, trent slamed his guitar. lol then during one of the songs trent and aaron like colided it was great. Trent and aaron kept throwing there mic stands. The set list was GODLIKE! Even better than last years shows.
First opportunity to see NIN, had a GA floor ticket in hand, been a fan for as long as I can remember, having them play in my own fucking backyard...

...and I was too drunk to even go.

Please tell me they're planning another tour or some kind of stop in the Chicagoland aread.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Someone on myspace mentioned this in their journal about the show:

"In addition to the songs I've listed, they played a new track from their upcoming CD--yes, a !!NEW!! album. I'm not sure what it was called, but it sounded pretty great."

Anyone else at the show remember the song?
Prince Adept
Apparently not, according to all reports the setlist on the first page is pretty accurate (except that "Burn" was also played after "The Big Come Down", and something akin to "Pilgrimage" was played in lieu of "Pinion").
Bricklayer
Hi~

So... I finally got my seeing NIN live cherry popped last night at Assembly Hall. The show was absolutely OUTSTANDING --- completely blew me and my expectations away! I think I'll need awhile to recover. They are sooo much more intense then I thought would be, and the sound was kick ass. Wow.

Agree w/ a lot of the previous posts about how LAME the crowd was. I was in section A a few rows right behind the floor, and almost everyone sucked. The pit was weak and the band seriously could not have been getting too much of their energy off the crowd. Although, the people right around me were pretty awesome and I had lots of fun dancing and jumping and rocking out with the girl next to me. So yeah I think the crowd was overall pretty hit or miss. There were a lot of people sitting down (what!?) during the show even... ack.

As a student here, although, I really didn't expect it to be a killer crowd. Whatever. The band was still on fire... I don't know if anyone has posted this but at one point between songs Trent said something like "We are playing a lot of songs tonight that we really like to play live" - aww. hee.

It was an AMAZING show, one of the best I have ever been to by anyone. I could not have been happier with the setlist, the sound or the venue.

Now I am trying to figure out more shows I should go to, wish I had gone up to Milwaukee to see the show tonight. Maybe the next IL show. Moline anyone? *wink

xoxo

PS did any of the out-of-towners really go to some of campus bars???! HAHAHAH! That is pretty funny. Good times.

No new song was played. Trent did give kind of a strange intro to EDIETS. He said something like , "this is a song from the....<pause>....latest record." It made me think it would be a new song, but of course it was not.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Hey everyone... the show was pretty sweet. A bit less hard-rock than his usual, but still enjoyable. And yes, the pit was pretty weak, which was fine, as it left the area pretty wide open to work for a good spot.

I'll be throwing up a ton of pictures in a bit.

Anyone happen to grab an extra tour poster, btw? Or, conversely, anyone going to the other shows on said poster that wouldn't mind picking one up for me? I got to last night's gig early, but got delayed in the bathroom and couldn't snag one. If you can get me one, I'll throw in a bit extra for your trouble. :D

Props to Yummymayo, btw, for being that kid that everyone knows. ;-)

Hey Val,

I'm a sophomore here too, but, I got a question for ya.

It looks like I'm going to have some Moline tickets coming down the pipe here in the next few hours. If I can get my hands on a pair, do you, or anyone you know, with a car from U of I be interested in making the trip? Yes, that would include a free ticket for the person who's driving.

Don't ever go to happy hour at Cly's before a NIN concert.

Bad, bad idea.

Only about 1/4 of the floor was Spiral. The rest were normal ticket holders. I'm not sure that the spiral is necessarily fair, but I do know that it's not the reason you didn't get floor.

burn was in there somewhere before eraser.
Master of the Ninth Arch
The show was awesome, and I got a guitar pick that landed on the floor!

The only thing that sucked was waiting outside in the cold, I had put my hoody back in my car so I wasn't hot during the show, when we were told the soundcheck would be at 5:00, but then there ended up not being one. So I never went back to my car to get my shit since I did not know when we would get let in and did not want to lose my spot. It was all good though finally being let in to the nice heated building!

He hasn't done an encore since fragility. Last was not played. Eraser was normal--nothing special. With teeth was not extended or special--that's how it's played. I don't see anything else wrong, but there very well could be.

SALMON!!!
Did anyone see the Toy Story guy walking around. I think in one of the pics of the pit before the show you can see him in the middle, like close to the stage and in the middle a bit. Real bald head and a white Toy Story shirt. Didn't understand that one bit.

Really good show though. Voice is real hoarse. I was in Section B4 Row 5 Seat 2 if anyone was near me. I was wearing a Rage Against The Machine shirt.

Me and my friends got o0ur tickets separated. My friends were in B47 I beleive and one of my friends passed out and fell down a row onto some people. Heh.

Never eating salamon again.

they were selling tour posters? i didnt see any. but i got there around 8:30. oh well the show was good. the pit sucked though. i pretty much really got it going everytime.
I drove to Champaign from Terre Haute, IN to see NIN in concert for the first time and it was totally worth the trip (not that i ever doubted that fact). That concert delivered in ways I cannot fathom. The sound was awesome, Trent talking to the audience was great! I strained to hear every word he said over the shouts and interruptions of people. The crowd was a little lame, but midwest audiences aren't known for crazyness anyway. I was in B section and everyone I was around was dancing and cheering their heads off. So even if the crowd didn't hop around like crazy, i hope the band still felt the love.
Master of Achievement
This was the best show I've ever seen. I trumps the previous three NIN shows I've seen EASILY.

And I didn't even get to hear Mr. Self Destruct!

When the guy in front of me told me that they played it, I almost shit myself. I cannot wait until tonight and I hope that since this is a smaller show that we'll get a club-like setlist that's different from the rest of the bigger shows.

I was so pissed though. We didn't leave to get there until like 9pm...I kept telling everyone LET'S FUCKING GO, but no one would. Bastards.

Please was amazing. Big Comedown was amazing. The lights/LCD panels were even better than before. The video of the desert for EDIETS was fantastic and the song was spectacular live, too.

I rolled my ankle hardcore during the beginning of MotP. I knew it was going to be bad, but the adrenaline kept me going. This morning, however...Jesus.

But, I think it'll be okay. It just feels kinda stiff. I'll take it easier tonight, hang out more towards the back and such and not get sucked into the pit hopefully.

The view and the sound was just out of this world last night. Man...best fucking show ever. :) :) :)

One last time for me. I am almost positive this is it. If you look at where Burn is supposed to be on the Setlist on page 3 it's creased. But you can see a side note on the left side that is clearly inbetween The Big Come Down and Gave Up.

Anyway. The show was amazing. They were perfect! Everything I expect from a Nin show. I had a few people around me who just didnt get into it. Like a mom of a young girl, 2 college kids sitting down wearing abercrombie shirts I think it was. (how they could see the show I don't know.. everyone in section B was standing.) They were prolly drunk or something.

Can't wait to see them again.
Master Traveler
I think JohnW is right. I think we found the winning set list!!! :-)
I gotta say, I think they could've destroyed the set a little bit more at the end of the show, I was dissapointed.

Niggaz_With_Aidz wrote:Was there a soundcheck for the spiral?
No. Last we heard from Brandi was Trent was too tired, overslept, or something like he had a late start. I can't remember. The whole thing was a flip-flop though: we were first told yes, we're going to be let in early for a soundcheck. Then, no, "I've got some bad news guys...", she said. Apparently though, if this news hasn't gotten passed around yet, the first five (not including Champaign, obviously, for whatever actual reason) shows will be guarenteed a soundcheck (no more M&Gs) and that'll be the end of it, all because he's becoming busier with the new album. I'm just going with what I heard last night, I have yet to read this recent Spiral chat transcript that went on.
Prince Adept
Any way you can put it in youtube? Unsure of the size of that, of course. I just can't do torrents on here.

So the U of I show was my 1st NIN concert! Oh, it was a looooong time in waiting. I thought the opening act, The Moving Units, were terribly mediocre. Me and my friends actually got up and left for most of their set. Then their lead singer was apologizing about his singing because he was sick, and everyone started yelling at them. I kinda felt bad for them!

Here's a possibly correct setlist:

Intro (Pilgrimage)
Mr. Self Destruct
Sin
Terrible Lie
The Line Begins To Blur
The Frail/The Wretched
Please
March Of The Pigs
Closer
Suck
Gave Up
The Big Comedown
Burn

Anyway, the show was amazing. I think I was the only one jumping up and down and dancing in my general vicinity. Heh. The projector screen was neat too. I got a kick out of seeing President Bush and his wife ballroom dancing on the screen!? WTF? I wooed really loud, but it was an anti-bush woo, not to be confused with a pro-bush woo. Yeah I can't tell the difference either, so I think everyone around me thought I was Bush nut. Oops. I'm glad Trent said a few words. Basically he said it felt really weird to be around a lot of people again since the tour is starting up. And his stomach was feeling weird during one of the songs, and that he was puking up a piece of salmon, which is really weird because he hadn't had salmon in like a month. How delightful. And then he went on to say he's working on a new album. The audience cheered, and he said, no, no, don't cheer for that because you haven't heard it yet! Laughter ensues...and I'm thinking, yeah, see you in another 5 years with said album!

But anyway, I am in love with Aaron North! He was kicking his feet over his head while he played, and at one point he was upside down?! LOL! I was a little weirded out to see all these new band members at first, but I could see they were REALLY good at what they do. They totally fit into NIN. All in all, I had a fantastic time! I only wish I could have been closer! Even my friends who I dragged with me (who don't know their music at all) enjoyed themselves! I think I am still on the concert high...afterwards I went home and put on those albums til 3am! (My neighbors just LOVE me!) I can't wait to see them again some day!

I have some photos and video footage if anyone is interested in seeing it. Just email me about it. (mchugh2 AT uiuc.edu)

I loved this show more than the STL show. Once I seen how tame GA was, I was wishing I had tix down there. but alas, I was resigned to the nosebleeds of section C, where the people "who came to see the band who did that closer to god song" where.

For the most part, I was pretty okay with where i was. I had someone with me that was her first NIN show, and I didn't want to spend the entire show babaysitting her on the floor(again, a null and void point once I saw how active the floor was), and I actually got to see the screen visuals during Eraser and RWIB.

Seemed like the new songs were more refined this time than they were for the STL show, and i Loved the Fragile-era stuff they played, particularly Even Deeper and The Big Comedown, and glad they didn't play starfuckers.

I'd love to get my hands on a boot of this show.

all in all, awesome show.
Clocksrun, thanks so much for posting your HLAH video. If you have more, please share. I was standing directly to your left and back one person. I'm the hand grabbing for Aaron's guitar with the fishnet on. I now have proof I was as close as I say I was. This was my 8th time seeing nails over the last decade and this show kicked the largest piece of ass ever.
I'm 95% sure that there was a new song played at the Champaign gig. I've lost track of how many shows I've been to in the past 12 years (more than 10), but there was one song that made me turn to my husband and say "I've NEVER heard this".
i dont think he played anything new during the show, but before the lights went out i kept getting this weird feeling about some of the waiting music. maybe that was a little secret preview or something.

another thing: for anyone who's been to the next 1 or 2 shows on the tour, did he do the screen-thing during eraser/at all? i thought that was really interesting but i dont know if it would get old doing the same video during the same songs.

...I wish I could've, especially from the view I had. I'm thinking about if it's even possible with my camera, amounts of memory cards etc. I'm thinking it over for upcoming ones I'm attending.

Thanks for all of the pics and videos everyone has posted I still can't get enough of it!!!

This was my 2nd NIN concert other one was during Fragility...I honestly can't say which I liked better, I think the setlist was awesome for this show compared to most other sets I've heard they've played. I really liked the LED video panels from Fragility, but the projection on the curtain was an awesome alternative to it this tour.

I had shitty tickets for this show (was on the floor in Fragility) but it was still a great experience. I couldn't believe how alive the people around me were. I know a lot of people have said the crowd wasn't very alive, but they were in my area of section C. Everyone around me was standing all the way through Eraser and then some sat down, but most stood the entire set. Even the guy that looked like he showed up on the wrong date for Kenny Chesney was getting into it.

All in all an awesome show, just wish I could see a couple more...and I couldn't believe how much Trent talked to the audience...this must be a record...

hey beavette and yummymayo!
i just woke up from the 3-day show stint of Champaign, Milwaukee, and Moline... I loved the Champaign and have decided that venues with "no smoking" policies are my favorite. Being able to breathe (somewhat) is always appreciated.

I was on the floor, all the way to Aaron North's side of the stage (pretty much in front of the speakers) but when the show started I was surprisingly able to move up quite a bit over by Aaron and the stage - to the point where I probably could've grabbed the rail. I had an awesome view of the whole show, and the setlist was GREAT! The people around me seemed afraid to move except for this foreign guy who was WAY into it and dancing next to me (which I thought was really cool, but to the girls behind me was a source of amusement - they kept making fun of him - sorry we couldn't be cool like they were and just stand there stiff all show...).

But I will gladly take a less-energetic show (at least from my side-floor perspective; can't speak for the pit!) in exchange for the non-smoking air and awesome view. This was one of my favorite shows so far!

LeMonkey, Sugarplum, and I went to C-Street afterwards for a few drinks and met another NIN-concertgoer and her friend there (I feel so bad b/c I can't remember her name!). I had so much fun.

My friend had a backstage pass and stole a black converse shoe from the nin dressing room. She doesn't know which member it belongs to. She also took some gatorade and grabbed a setlist but some guy took it away. He said she could keep the shoe but not the setlist. Good times.

so, looking at the pictures, I think I might owe an apology....that DEAN GUITARS hat you see in about every third picture and occasionally in the videos was me...I'm a tall dude and I can't help it, just hope I didn't piss anyone off too much. The show was incredible, hell, the entire weekend was incredible, and I'm VERY excited to hear a recording of the entire show if someone got one. just, ya know, drop me a PM or something. It was pretty badassed that NIN switched things up thru the weekend too...it wasn't drastically different setlists, but the vibe definetly was different at every show. Great experience.
Yes, love chatty Trent. I honestly thought Trent was going to make some smart ass comment when during his pause (about it being weird to be in front of people that night) since the guy behind me standing in the aisle of section A cut in and yelled "I love you Trent! Have my children!!" Trent's next comment was something like "that's one reason [it was weird to be in front of everyone...]. I was sickened by the number of sitters in section A. Sounds like C guys were more into it from what I've read, although I didn't really turn around much to look during the show.

There was a dad sitting across the aisle a few rows down in A who was next to, presumably, his young daughter. He was pretty into it which was good to see.

Anyway, good show. Glad to be a local.

I don't think anyone's mentioned that Trent broke a string during "Only" yet. Who else noticed that?

I've got a question:

From where I was sitting, I couldn't see to be able to tell for sure, but during Right Where it Belongs, did the pit actually sit down and watch the screen?

If so, that's really awesome.

I did notice that he was playing with a broken string at some point.
I didn't notice the broken string but during his first time talkin to us, he said he felt weird beign around people etc. then didn't he say that he started writing the new album? I couldn't tell cause jackoffs were yelling.

Yep, he sure did. Then whenever he cheered, he told everyone to calm down cause it's not done yet.

Oh ya, I remember now, he said somethin like "dont cheer cause you haven't heard it yet" or somethin like that too lol.

ps- tambourine trent rocks... at the hammerstein show he tossed it behind him and it smacked leo on the head.

I noticed that also. I thought it was very cool how he kept playing even with a broken string. Awe inspiring moment in a show of awe inspiring moments.
does any of the video uploaded have any more snipets of Closer/The Only Time. That had to be one of the most glorious rawk out moments I ever witnessed and I was wondering if anyone else had that recorded.

I think Drakh's long compiled video has some of Closer a couple pages back.

This is all I have of that song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v53z8TZhy1M
you rawk, thank's so much ^_^
I appologise for posting in a concert-discussion thread without discussing the concert... just wanted to say something.

The YouSendIt links are working. It's just that the files are so huge (60+mb each) that the allocated bandwidth is exceeding very fast. If I were you, I would upload these to either Megaupload.com or zupload.com.

FileFront.com can also offer free hosting.
sorry for posting when i havent seen the show (REALLY). but i was wondering how you guys got the cameras in.....weren't they not allowed?

also how easy would it be to tape off an mp3 player mic(with 20 gb mem)

I am just so fuckin stoked about the show in lincoln im going to on friday, and i want to be able to remember it.
again, sorry for the annoying post.
thanks
we thought they wouldn't allow cameras, so we didn't bring ours. But then we found out too late the security was pretty lax about the cameras and such (apparently as far as i could tell). I was kicking my own ass over that, but oh well. Lots of people ended up getting better pictures than i could've.
I'm going to try to bring a cam or my mp3 to record (cant decide). i just hope if i decide not to on the cam that someone from here will have attended the show. thanks for the reply.

Has anyone mentioned that TR injured himself at this show? I saw him trip while attempting to destroy a prop, or perhaps just trip, and he got up with a nice gash and a little blood on his right hand. One of you posted a picture of it. I didnt think much of it, but the next two shows he was wearing a gauze bandage so I am assuming it was fairly severe.

I just realized now that yeah, he was wearing a bandage on his hand for Milwaukee and Moline and possibly even last night in GB too. I had no idea he slipped or anything.

What song was it during?

I'm glad he was still able to rock the eff out even while bloody. :D

I noticed the gauze bandaging in Milwaukee right away but I didn't want to be the first one to mention it.

Looks like this might be the boo-boo:

I know it happend earlier in the set, I wont even guess what song. It seemed as though he was attempting to destroy his stage props- the light screen? Or maybe he just tripped.

Anyway, it doesnt look that bad in the picture, but he had a hefty bandage on it. In Moline it started to fall off and it was quite noticable. Then again, I was close enough to him to grab his balls.

DAMNIT! I just got my pictures back from the show and all 23 of them suck. Amazing. Pretty much got 23 really nice pictures of the backs of peoples heads, hands, and a lot of fog.
I thought the show was very good, I do think the crowd was lacking some much needed energy. I was at the show in Chicago in Oct. and there was a very different atmosphere at that show as opposed to the latest one, much more energy much louder. I must say that the set list was much better for the 06 show and the band sounded great, also it was great to hear Trent speak about the fact that he's writing liyrics for the upcoming album and it was quite interesting to see how nervous he was talking to the crowd, fiddling with his hands behind his back and what not. Overall very good show, I would recommend a NIN show to ANYONE, FAN OR NOT!!!

The show was very good. It sounded like it was a little more hard rock than the St. Louis show was from what I rember. I was up in section C row 18. We stood almost the entire time and sat for just a bit durring the eraser video. I think Every Day Is Exactly The Same might have been my favorite song that night.

I'd like to thank BrokenSoul & suziesue for everything; from providing a ride, to selling me a face value ticket for this show... thank you!

We arrived a night early in...

Champaign

So pumped that I'm tired.

Venue at night

Zzzz at the Red Roof

Woke up at around 6 a.m., I believe?

Sem eyes

Parking was a B... but we got her... close, too

Venue in the morn

Ticket Office

Circling around, arriving at the North East entrance (which was listed as The Spiral entrance, by The Spiral)

...we find the first

Spiral shadows

From a sleeping bag

(roadie) Buses begin to show. Brandi the bright.

Spirals

Security guard comes out, tells us we've got to move the line to the North West

Suzie (the first, insane fan, ps... great girl!) Shifting sides... sadly, windier, and less sun. Yes, how could I forget to mention, if the sleeping bag mention didn't aleady indicate anything- weather, horrible. Maybe not at first, but from some 8 in the morning around the clock... it'll do it.

North Western Spirals:

I'll be leaving a lot out at this point...

...sign was brought out, I don't remember when. Too many trips back and forth to the car, lugging stuff in as time drew near.

As you heard, the Spiral chat was set for the day of the show... Just trying to get online.

Getting Darker

Spiral Line: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N2aXtmi_fo

We were informed from Brandi at some point about a soundcheck, and that there'd be 5 assured after this show, including this one... making it 4 left, or something like that. Hours later, no... "Trent had a late start today guys", or something like that, again.

We had our own though...

That was where about where we'd heard Mr. Self Destruct... I thought it was You Know What You Are? I'm not the know I thought I was with that stuff anymore... that was incredible to hear even from the outside. Along with The Big Come Down, Even Deeper, and Please.

I'm not sure when we got let in, but here's the line space that was to be formed behind me, after being wrist banded by the most old looking guys working for this place... ushers?

Line formed. Dangerous, too. We basically had to storm down those small, narrow stairs... I knew it'd probably get bad somewhere. If it did, myself and others in the front sure didn't see it.

Left people

Right people

Then the security guards had this idea of moving everyone who was against the rail back, so they could push the rail back. Reactions.

A fuck off from one security guard.

Tambourine: present (for what I could get of it, many guards at this show and in the way. And kind of pointless- ended up being the tamest yet for me).

Setlist Action. Everyone was freaking out by this time of showing and realizing what was to come first... minus the Pilgrimage surprise. I had no clue it was that while it was being played first. Great combination.

Moving Units were fine, just fine. Vocals are better sounding on the album... I think most would agree. All-around great and crazy drummer. No pictures.

The only thing that bothered me about the show was when they played "right where it belongs" you couldnt hear the piano played out through the song like it did on the cd so when the song started i didnt know which it was till he started with the lyrics.

You couldn't hear the piano because there was no piano. It was RWIB v. 2
