They let us into the venue right at fucking 7pm. Even though it was freezing cold. A lot of us who had been waiting in the warmth had gone and put our coats in the car so we didn't lose them. I don't think any of us anticipated the doors being propped open by people packed together waiting to get in with frigid air blowing in hard on us for 50 minutes prior to being let in. Luckily we were near a bunch of guys who joked about getting closer to inspect penises and plotting accidental falling to clear and close the doorway, things which were much funnier at the time when trying to keep warm. Really sucked when there was a half hour left and they had us all back up, forcing 1/3 of the people out into the cold, to form the proper lines for entry. We figured this meant we were getting in real soon. Nope, just wider paths for the air to blow into our flesh. Strangely enough one of the guys right behind us we were joking with during the freeze looked a hell of a lot like levi/matt.
I didn't care at all for the moving units. I'm not really ashamed to say I was glad they only played 5 songs. There were definitely some beats in sections of a couple of the songs I really enjoyed... ...that's about it.
I was excited to hear deep through the doors during the soundcheck... I couldn't talk myself into ever paying the membership fee to get into the spiral knowing NIN's track record for following through (sorry, but have they really so far?

)... But it wasn't in the setlist which made me sigh. The apparent iraq/afghanistan (can't say which, desert combat) war imagery during eraser and right where it belongs was interesting. I couldn't tell if the crowd was cheering for or against bush when it showed him and his wife dancing at one point. I Bood.
Was impressive seeing Josh Freese in action. And Jeorde seemed more active than I recall reading in other journal entries. One of the people I went with took over 100 pictures, most of which of Jeorde (Twiggy as she always called him), so I'll see what I can get from her to post.
Even though I read AC picks up a guitar during parts here and there, seeing him running around the stage with one and jamming in front of josh's set with aaron during getting smaller was pretty sweet and actually surprising at the time. Trent made a little speech about how after the last tour when they were as tired as they have ever been, his tour manager called him up and asked if he wanted to play a date in nebraska in the middle of feb. He said at the time it didn't sound like a great idea but he's glad he did. Then went on to say this was the best fucking crowd so far, etc. Crowd warming stuff.
Aaron jumping up onto one of the interestingly positioned amp stacks and attacking the light fixtures with his guitar at the end of HLAH was entertaining. He jammed his guitar into place between two of AC's keyboards before departing the stage. AC seemed to be looking at him like "dude, no!" in an amused fashion.
definitely wish I had tomorrow off to swing down to KC for another show.
89.7 The River was playing nothing but Nine Inch Nails the entire way home after the show. They even played A Warm Place. Fucking sweet.
