Damned good show... too tired to post a review.
But not tired enough to post a setlist!
I was keeping track all throughout, writing it down, so I'm 99.9% sure that it's accurate.

Honestly, the most I've ever heard him talk in the three shows I've been to. Very touching though.

that was quite sweet. this was my second concert ever, i am 26 (i have social anxiety so being around a lot of people is really hard for me) but i was given a free ticket and nin is my favorite band so i went. i new what to expect from reading this forum so i wasnt surprised. it was great to let go and let the music into my soul. i wanted to see saul but i got lost in the city when i took a wrong turn.

i loved love is not enough, eraser, gave up, right where it belongs and hurt was great to sing along with everyone. some douche behind me kept saying "johnny cash!". then when it was done he said "they only played one song from with teeth..." they almost played the whole album.

anyways blah blah blah... it was great to see them live after being a fan for 11 years.

Aside from my seats being fucking awesome (4 rows back rights next to the stage, I have a clear view of Trent the entire time), I was a bit disappointed with the shortened set list.

The show ended BEFORE 10:30pm..

They cut out Mr. Self Destruct, Reptile, and Dead Souls. I was very very unhappy about this.

The fact that they cut it out tonight means they'll most likely play Pilgrimage/Destruct tomorrow.... god I hope so... I am going to be at that show.

Anyway, my contribution to this thread: if anybody has it, could we see/hear Trent's speech?

So awesome show of course, anyway...
I was in the nose bleeds but the show was still awesome. I missed the vibe of being down on the floor though.
Saul Williams -spectacular. And the crowd really liked him too. I remember when people heckled QoTSA through their whole set.
So did anyone else notice the two ladies in the back signing the lyrics to ALL the songs? Does this happen everytime and I just missed it? It was cool to watch.

It was something to the effect of (and I'm paraphrasing):

Trent: "I, uh, I saw a friend backstage tonight that I hadn't seen since the downward spiral tour...

(Crowd Cheered)

...God that was...like wow, almost 10 or something years ago and we talked about where we had come since then, well first we talked about how happy we were to have survived that tour...

(Crowd laughed and he actually fucking chuckled, I was shocked seeing as I've never heard him laugh or seen him smile before)

...but then we talked about how far we had come since then and how we changed over those years. So, when I was coming out to play tonight I was thinking about that and how it's so awesome that this arena is still full. And when I went away to get all my shit together and came back you all were still here and I just want to seriously thank you all from the bottom of my heart. (Crowd starts to clap and cheer) Thank you.

oh at the end of "right where it belongs" they showed footage of a group of monkeys... that is from this piece of haunting footage they made us watch in school when i was a youngin...

Oh, and I forgot to say that this was my first NIN show and I was absolutely blown away by Trent's energy and the overall vibe from the band. I guess he's not feeling sick anymore because he literally blew up the stage tonight. I almost freaking cried during "Hurt" it was so emotional, the whole crowd sang. My only disappointment is that they didn't play "Something I Can Never Have" It's my first NIN song and I was even more upset when I found out they played it at their last show! Oh well, it was still one of the best shows I've ever been too!

This was my first NIN show too and I've loved them since the 8th grade (fuck. I'm old.).. I was seriously blown away. While I would have LOVED reptile, I was quite okay with Eraser and.. well, every thing else.

Still, it was amazing and Trent's speech was very touching. I'm so glad he got his shit together because he really does seem to be in a better place.

It ended really early (before 10:30pm!) but still, even 5 minutes would have been good.

Just an amazing show....their opening act was fuckin horrible.... but the minute they came out I had the biggest smile on my face and I sang all but 3 songs.....

I disliked the 3 songs but i loved them and thought they were best show I've ever seen and I can't wait to see them again....No money = whats they bring to the table and how much enjoyment the bring.....

To clerify since that was trash writing.... The opening act was CRAP some people doin some industrial stuff/rap it was horrible. When NIN came out I thought i would be bored... but I had the biggest smile and i enjoyed all but 3 songs.

I would love to see thim again... and the no money part, I have no idea what i typed..... But i would gladly pay any $$ to see them again... because they were just that good......

just because i have to ask, is there anybody that taped the show that would be willing to put it up on bit torrent? Every time i've seen them in toronto someone has done it and i'd love to get a hold of another NIN live recording that i was actually in attendence for, thanks.

The Show was amazing tonight, they played old favorites and a lot of new songs, the crowd was sort of lackluster though, i mean as far as response to the songs, it took them a really long time to get going. Suprisingly enough The Hand that Feeds got them excited most of all in my opinion and songs like terrible lie were met with mild enthusiasm. I had a hell of a time anyway, any day you get to see NIN is a good day. Luckily the crowd throwing stuff at trent had bad aim, someone would've died if he got hit and the show ended early like i've heard has happened in the past.

the show was fucking awesome. TR & his little friends rocked the shit out it once again.

i really liked saul williams, and the crowd seemed to like him, but nobody was really into his performance at all...they just sort of stood there like they were dead or something. i felt bad for the poor guy, especially since he deserves the love.

NIN was...well amazing as usual. my friend and i nearly got killed in the mosh pit a few times but it was a fucking blast anyway. trent's speech was so sweet; i love it when he actually talks to us instead of just the usual thanks. josh freese was in top form--absolutely flawless and he really got into it. jeordie was excellent, he went a little crazy in the beginning and other various parts but was mostly just mellow. didn't see much of aaron but i'm sure he was spinning cartwheels as usual. and alessandro...just sort of chilled and did whatever it is he does.

added bonus: the people who came to save me. i really, really wanted to know how much god loves me. it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, especially when they called NIN "soulless sodomites". yup, it was a good fun time. i picked up a jesus pamphlet in the bathroom, and i will treasure it forever, along with my new t-shirt.

Great show. I got there real early hoping for a soundcheck/meet and greet but we got shit. We did get in an hour early though (through the Spiral), and I ended up being the 2nd person from the barrier, right dead center (I was wearing a black longsleeve, blue jeans and had tied a red rainjacket around my waist). During MOTP Aaron jumped right on top of me, and then during Piggy Trent jumped into the crowd (right at me); I put my arm around him and sang along with him into his mic (which was in my face) - I couldn't fucking believe it. It was quite the most amazing moment.

Anyway the show was awesome, except for one fucking douchebag to happen to elbow his way b/w the barrier and my friend (a girl); he would choke her with her elbow on purpose and then threatened her and my other female friend to smack them. Everytime I'd fucking say something, the pussy would shut up. I wanted to rip out his fucking retarded earlobe-streching piercings, then smash his face in. Die.

After the show we stuck around the tourbuses for about an hour, and I was able to get everyone to sign my WT Tour Book (except for Trent, who left almost right after the show in a seperate tour bus).

I had fun.

All right, here's my take on the show. Let's start with the disappointments:
1) No pilgremage OR Mr. Self Destruct. It would've made my year to see those live.
2) No Dead Souls, no Something....oh well, I can live without I guess
3) Not being able to hear Trent sing during the chorus of Hurt. It's a heartfelt song guys; let him sing it. yeesh.

Now, on to the good:
-Two hour set (ended earlier than normal because it started earlier than normal...make sense, everyone?)
-The Day the World Went Away. It's been one of my favorites, and I was surprised to hear it. Surprised, and very happy
-The speech. It sounds like Trent isn't much of a talker during shows, so I was really caught off guard when he said what he did. It knocked him off the big rockstar pedestal that I'd had him on and made me realize that he's just a regular guy....really talented, but otherwise he's just like you or me.
-The Only Time breakdown. At first I was little bummed about it, because I had always wanted to hear the bass from the original version just shake through my bones in an arena. But they still set the EQ so that the Jeordie did just that with the alternate version. Very nice
-Eraser. I was near the side of the stage, so I could watch everyone playing clearly while that was going on, and it was great to see Jeordie up there actually playing the whole thing on bass, and not having Alessando just hitting a few loops on the synths.

Other major disappointment: I ran into a bunch of friends while I was there, and being the only one that isn't 21 yet, I didn't get a chance to go out after the show. But that's not NIN's fault

All in all, I think it was worth the wait. May not have lived up entirely to my hopes, but still a damn fine show nonetheless.

I've been a fan for years, but this was my first time seeing them live and I was definatley not dissapointed. I missed Saul Williams' set, so I can't say anything about it but NIN rocked my fucking socks off. I think the setlists posted above are accurate and I really wanted to hear Mr. Self Destruct, but what are you gonna do.

Someone mentioned above that there was a sign language interpreter towards the back of the floor "singing" the entire set in ASL. I doubt this happens at other shows, because Rochester has a large deaf community. It's home to the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. I watched the woman for a bit and it was quite interesting. Then I moved further up into the crowd with my friend, who got her ass grabbed by some drunk, stumbling fool. She kind of pushed him into the pit and he immediately fell over and caused like 3 other people to fall on top of him. What an idiot.

During Piggy Trent came down to the crowd and his crotch was right in one of my friend's friend's faces. She also got his tambourine, because he kind of gently tossed it directly to her. He knows her now and likes her I'm sure, because this was her 20th show and she is always front and center.

Some highlights for me were Terrible Lie, March of the Pigs (Aaron jumped into the crowd), The Frail / The Wretched (yay for Fragile stuff!) and Head Like a Hole.

Lol when that appened at first I thought it was a joke. Those guys were funny. I was a "wallflower" the whole time. Mostly because I had loose pockets with my money in it. I also had a bag with my litho and tour book. Plus I forgot to take off my hat before the show and leave it in the car. Next time he comes to Rochester I will buy some pants that have zipper pockets. I took some cool pics with my camera phone though (got my friend to let me borrow it). I was wearing the Ween hat BTW if anyone saw me.

Yeah, actually I've been in contact with the person who was going to be signing for the show -- they were trying to find out what the setlist would be, and I pointed 'em to TAOSD's handy tour section. Here's some info via Cat, the interpreter -

Here in Rochester, NY we have approximately 55,000 Deaf people so we are use to have interpreters at all events....For people that don't have an abundance of deaf individuals it always comes as a shock! So an individual, who is an ardent fan of NIN, has made a request for an interpreter and all requests are honored!

I have a busy schedule that week with another concert so I may sub it out to two other sign language interpreters but I am still doing the ground work for it!

One of our colleges, Rochester Institute of Technology, has a Deaf college so we get alot of requests for all the bands to be interpreted that tour this area. Hope this clears up any questions you might have!

Oh I just remembered, but someone threw a shoe at the curtain right before it "shattered". I'm guessing they were trying to synch it up with it shattering, but it didn't quite work out. I don't know why anyone would sacrifice a shoe for that...

People really need to stop b1tching about Saul Williams. Open your mind, listen to what he's saying. He sounded great, lots of energy, got the place moving. Isn't that what an opening act is supposed to do?

I was wondering what was going on over there. I was on the left right in front of the corner of the stage (my ears are still ringing, earplugs next time) and noticed some people constantly pointing at someone else in the crowd. I figured someone was being an asshole.

This was my first NIN show and it was awesome. One thing I did notice was around the middle the keyboard wasnt working and the stage hands were tring to fix it onstage, and Alessandro was pissed off jumping on his keyboard. I had a side view on the left side of the stage thats why I could see it. I guess it wasnt working for a few songs and eventually it worked.

At the end of the last song I could see trent like coughing/ dry heaving he couldnt catch his breathe or something as he was going off the stage...though after he went down the stairs I couldnt see... I assume all is well though probably just needed to catch his breathe after that awesome show!

Anyone have any pics? I tried to bring my camera in but got caught assholes.. erg

I got the tambourine. oh my god. best show ever. had my face in trent's stomach and held his hand through piggy, and then EDIETS...it was just so amazing to be up front with all my friends, and have this be such a great show - our last all together for a while. it was a perfect send off. we may all be crazy but we think trent totally noticed us and that we've been to show many shows. it really seemed like he played things up in front of us, and acknoledged us. absolutely amazing

a few of the photographers during the beginning took multiple pictures of my friends and i at the rail, does anyone have any idea how we could go about tracking them down?

awesome show, 1st one Ive ever been 2, but just terrific. through my gloves on stage, if anyone seen me I was in the front screaming with everyone else! it was great! got some vid footage with the phone but sounds like shit, disappointed.. o well, its all in my head!!! anhyone with anymore ;pics? I only did vid and it sucked. and I almost got the damn guitar, right over my head, where it landed was where i started the show, but dumb ass me had to move to the very front.....GREAT show!!!!!!!!!!

One thing I forgot to mention: Josh Freese = ugh. I loved his style when I saw him twice with APC, but he just didn't bring any energy to the show with Trent & Co. last night. Don't get me wrong; he's a great drummer, but he just seemed a little empty - he didn't plug all of the gaps with fills like Jerome did; his drumming just didn't have the same flow to it. That really bummed me out....oh well, it was still a helluva set.

Ok I hate how people are like u need to open your mind to the opening act.... u know i'm good.. i felt the beats were boring and lame... and his rap... ok it was fast and smooth ... but it was boring... he didn't say anything else that any other rapper has said....

Ok the opening you mind thing is truelly lame and over played....while i respect your opinion... my opinion is i would like to listen to paint dry which means listening to silence hehe

But its all good because i didn't pay to see the opening act and I still feel like a little kid in a candy store

Again my first NAILS concert....

My first NIN show, but it is the best concert I have ever been to.
It was amazing how many people with seats jumped the fence to get into the pit (myself included.)

I just want to say that the speech was touching, and it was new for an artist to just talk to the croud like that.

Also thanks to the security team up front, they caught all 13+ people I threw over the bar, and gave water to a few girls who wre about to pass out.


AMAZING show, only thing I would have changed was the opening act. They sucked. Alot.

For my fourth NIN show I have a couple comments about...well everything, mostly good, some critical of people in this thread.

First: Saul Williams is good, and he was CHOSEN by Trent to open the NIN show becuase he is good. The quote given of "he didn't say anything different from any other rapper" is honestly ignorant of what SW was actually talking about. Black Stacy being about the fact that he hated the fact that he was black because of the mentality that went along with it, as well as the highly political aspects of many of his lines (i say lines instead of raps because SW is much more of a poet to music then a rapper, I'm pretty sure he considers himself a poet more then anything else) makes what he's saying significantly different then any rapper out there (as the quote from a girl I was with "he's singing about the problems in the government and an anger about not beinga ble to accept himself...which is different then bling bling and hoe hoes that all those other crappy rappers sing about."). Whether or not you liked it is a personal opinion, but SW did a good set, and he's good at what he does. So here's a phrase you should learn "I didn't like it" opposed to "it sucked" cause guess what, you're not a fucking god when it comes to music or art, so your word isn't devine, it's opinion.

Secondly, NIN kicked ass. People are dissapointed with what didn't get played, but I was very impressed by what did get played. It was a strong setlist (and for the first timers out there that went to the show, it was an overall strong covereing of a NIN basis). Trent fed off the audiance throughout the whole show (honestly, if you're being boring he won't throw you the mic). His speech isn't something that he normally does. I remember my first NIN show he said something to the effect of "It really means alot that everyone came out, thank you" which is much much less then what he said in Rochester. The fact (which I liked that someone poitned out) that trent LAUGHED is much more impactful of his speech then if he was angry or just venting. This was almost personal, which at a show of the intensity of a NIN show is a rarity.

I think that's all I ahve to say at 4 am. I'm going to go to bed and continue to nurse the rib I think I broke in the pit (honestly, I have a spot on my side that's turning black...I should go to a hospital to have it checked out)

PS, anyone see anything on the radar about this being taped or not?

My best guess was that it was the program director from WBER, because he broke a lot of bands back in that era that no one else in Rochester would play (i.e. Nirvana, Marilyn Manson). I ran into the station manager after the show, though, and he said that it wasn't him...my only other guess is that it was one of the photographers who's been shooting for over 20 years, but I really doubt that.

I went to three shows (London, Erie, and Rochester). Rochester was the best, and the band was absolutely feeding off the audience. There were a LOT of crowd surfers too. My only complaint was there was a little *too* much smoke from the smoke machine filling up the stadium.

Yes, I have to agree The Dinosaur rocked, but the wait could kill you! There were plenty of NIN staff hanging out there too the night before during their day off, and the night of the concert - I guess because it was right down the street from the back entrance of Blue Cross Arena.

Our group of 4 came from Canada for this concert. The night before the concert we and some other Spiral members headed over to The Dinosaur around 7pm after a local recommended it. We excitedly grabbed a bunch of local magazines with a pic of Trent on the cover just inside the doors. As we gathered inside the entrance, a really tall guy with a chin beard started talking to a couple of us from behind our group and when I turned around to see who it was he smiled and purposely bumped into me hard, knocking me sideways a couple feet, to be funny I guess. I had no idea who the hell this person was until I then noticed the NIN pass hanging around his neck. After introducing myself to him and his buddy and chatting briefly he gave me a yellow and black NIN guitar pick. I saw him at the show the day after and he turned out to be the guy who sits in that booth at the side of the stage handing the band their guitars.

We invited them to sit with us but they ended up getting their own table because the wait was too long for a big group. It must have taken us an hour to get a table since we were a group of 8.... they were seated after two minutes as was everyone else who came in groups of two. I was absolutely *starved* by the time we sat down. A few minutes later they waved as they walked by to the bar, since they were already done eating by then. It would have been nice to hear their stories about life on the road with NIN.

As for when NIN will return to Rochester... who knows. But if it ever happens again I'm definitely going because that was the best show I've seen yet and I liked the people in the city! We had forgotten our box of biscuits at our table at the Dinosaur before we left and some guy ran a block and a half down the street to bring us our box of biscuits. It was an amusing night.

the show was friggin amazing.. i hadn't seen nails since the fragility tour came to buffalo with APC. i knew to expect a spectacular show, and it blew me away. our seats were shitty so i found us a nice spot like 4 row from the stage left. i had amazing views the whole time. we started a mosh pit in the stands an went berzerker untill i hit my GF by accident with my head. we were trying to get our whole section to rush the floor, but alas they are pussies. the crowd wasn't as wild as in buffalo in 2000. so i'd say the better show was that. thanks for the years of great music trent.

Would it be possible to just skip all the rest of the completely blatant racist remarks, or is that really necessary to tack onto the end of every mindless rant about the nuances of your personal concert experience? I can't imagine how painful it must be for Trent to have to play his heart out at shows to such ignorant, backward racists who find it necessary to express their negative opinions of an artist he greatly respects and who- let me remind you- he asked to tour with him. Apparently there are far more of you small-minded idiots than I had thought, and you're really bad at keeping your stupid thoughts to yourself. Your collective ignorance and your habit of coming out of the goddamn woodwork to attend shows gives NIN fans a bad name. Rochester was incredible. The band was top notch, I think I just about lost my mind after Aaron jumped into the crowd, It was poetry man... poetry. *sheds a little tear*.... and piggy was cool as hell. EDIETS was amazing... The whole show was amazing. I heap much praise and glory upon the band. Can't wait till the summer tour.

Oh yeah... the security guy on the far right corner of the stage was nice enough to give me his setlist. I was talking to my friends about what may or may not be played and he just ripped it off and handed it to me. Thank you nice security guy! It's kinda neat to see how it is all planned out...

I need to merge it with my good video of the Rochester concert since my camera can't handle loud noise and everything sounds distorted.

The Rochester Show was excellent! It was my first NIN show. Anybody going to the Saragtoga show in June? It's like 3 hours away from Rochester.

I went to this show, and thought it was absolutely fantastic. My first NIN show, and probably one of the greatest shows i have ever been to. The day began with me picking up my bro from college, and that was awesome getting to see him again after so long. Rocked to NIN in the car, parked, and walked to the auditorium after almost hitting a crossing guard

anyway, heard the religious people yelling, and i couldn't help but wonder if those people had ANYTHING better to do with their time.

Got the pat down, and got through the gate. Quick merch check after securing our seats- nothing much, so we got back and sat down, talking about Saul, and whether he'd be good. Suddenly, the opening song starts playing, and me and my bro are just like "wtf? we missed saul?" well, to say the least, we didn't care that much, and just got to rockin' to the NIN.

All the songs were great, and the slowed down part of the show during eraser, right where it belongs, beside you in time, & the day the world went away really was awesome. eraser is really growing on me. The beginning of the show was awesome too, none-stop fun, i screamed all the vocals from love is not enough all the way to gave up, and played air guitar and keyboard : )

after the show, got outside, beat the rush to dinosaur's and grabbed a booth. Ribs were fantastic, and the ride home was comforting, but also a bit sad, as I had to a.) go back to my life after NIN, and b.) take my bro back to college. Still, the NIN was fantastic, and I will definitely be catching them at one of these summer dates.

I actually sat 2 rows behind these idiots. They did try to start a mosh pit in the stands, but it looked pathetic, and if they tried to rush the floor they would have gotten their asses kicked by the 5 security guards in our section.

After looking at the current setlists, I'm still really bummed - I think we got shafted with ours. We pretty much got the bare minimum + TDTWWA, which I was absolutely thrilled to hear. But everyone else is getting Pilgremage/Self Destruct intro, then added songs like SICNH, Dead Souls, Deep, Please....hell, I think one show even had The Big Comedown....I gotta say, for having not played here in 12 years, I was hoping for a little somethin' extra. Oh well, it was still a great show. Too bad no one taped it. But goddamn, security checks were tight! At least, it looked like it from where I entered
