So I just got back from the SOLD OUT show, and man it was amazing. This was my second time at red rocks and the venue doesnt ever dissapoint.
NIN played the same setlist without "get down make love."
The only minor problems were really with Aaron guitars on 2 small parts on "burn" and "only."
Jeordie was so fucking crazy tonight, even more than Aaron. He was all over the place and going ape shit, great for him.
Trent was great as well, he seemed really glad to play tonight, especially because it was his first show at red rocks.
Alessandro and Josh were as tight as ever, no complaints here.
I was on Jeordie's side row 7 from the stage. I had a great view and loved every minute of it.
"sin" was the best track of the night in my opinion, right behind was "somewhat damaged" and "the big come down."
The visuals were great, I liked them even more than the fall tours screen thing. The blood dripping during "closer" and "help me Im in hell" was unbelievabile. "non-entity" was really cool, I cant wait too hear more from trent, but noone in the crowd knew the song except me it seems.

I think its safe to say I will be attending many many many more NIN shows in the future if Trent and the boys continue after the new album is written.

A couple of other things, The openig band TV and Radio was really good, just the wrong crowd, I am going to go check some of their stuff out soon. I just really enjoyed them.
Bauhaus was just to boring for me, I wont say anything bad about them, they just werent my taste of music. 1 complaint, their set needs to be shorter so NIN can play longer.

NIN also were breaking stuff early in the set, after "terrible lie" Trent slammed his guitar into the amps, They all kept smashing their mics and stands, which kept their roadies on their heels.

I saw NIN what seems like 101 times on the first legs of the With Teeth tour, but this was my first time of this current tour. Somewhat Damaged was so great to hear. I love Non-Entity from the Katrina Benefit, but I need to hear it again as a band. Either way it sounded great. Into the Void was hot. The rest of the show was pretty basic. The crowd was amongst the least into NIN that I've seen. Maybe it was just my section, but most people were talking and doing their own thing during the show. RedRocks is amazing. It was my first time there (I'm from CA). They got destructive pretty early on and didn't stop the whole show. All in all, not the best NIN show I've seen, but good.

I just got back from the show and i noticed one thing. Was the screens on stage left fucked up? They were all fuzzy when they had to show a complex image and some lights were on all the time. I am talking about the roll down LED screens rather than the one behind the stage. Other than that the show was awesome. LaMer/Into the Void was awesome great addition to the set list because i have seen at least 1 show on every other leg of the tour.

Yep. 2 of the screens were jacked up. And they kept smashing their instruments throughout the show because the sound was also messed up from the start.

Hmmm, where to start? First off I want to give a lot of credit to the band for the Soundcheck/Meet and greet. It looked like nearly 200 Made it in for the soundcheck(Non Entity and Wish), and all five members took the time to shake hands and sign autographs for each of us. Once the show started, TV on the Radio was good but I agree it was the wrong crowd for them. I think Trent was the most into their set of anyone. Bauhaus was alright although extremely loud. Their singer is really old, but he did manage to walk right up into the crowd a few feet from me which was kinda cool.

Nine Inch Nails Was extremely energetic right off the bat. I would say Trent was the most theatrical I've ever seen him, and Jeordie was far crazier than usual. Even Alex-andro managed to climb up on his keyboards and thrash around some. I loved the setlist. It was especially nice to hear Non Entity played with the full band. There were a few mistakes and Arron always tends to be a bit inconsistant, but overall, a great performance.

PS. It was great meeting Perkules(Thanks again for getting me into the soundcheck), brightshadow3960, her sister, Trentsinmypants, and Gary. All good people, I hope you guys get home safe and enjoy the rest of the shows you're going to.

I'm beat. Great show, I got there halfway through Bauhaus' set, and they seemed pretty good from what I saw / heard. Peter Murphy gave a nice collective "Fuck you" to Morrison Colorado at the end.

As for NIN's set, I was mightily impressed (doesn't take much though) seemed Fragile-heavy, or at least With Teeth-light (no EDIETS?) Can't say I liked the light show, especially compared to the dazzling arena-tour setup, but the band's energy kind of made up for it. Trent was up and smashing things early on. Sound was good, aside from aforementioned brief guitar problems. Part of the light-rack thing (I dunno what they're called) wasn't working right, and for awhile I thought it was intentional, WT artwork being what it is. All in all it didn't bother me.

I generally liked the mix of songs, I've always wanted to see "Help Me..." live, and it gave me a good adrenaline rush that lasted me throughout the night. Same with "La Mer". Trent made a nice entrance (kinda looked like the Hulk just standing there as a silhouette, heh) but I do think that "Somewhat Damaged" and "The Big Come Down" didn't transfer well to a live setting (imo, the guitar in TBCD was terrible) All made up for with the sing-along climax, though. Hurt+THTF+HLAH was nice.

A little side-story thing: A friend of mine left to take a piss during the set, and unbenownst to me he departed shortly thereafter to take a passed-out friend of his home. Long story short, I ended up calling him from a payphone after the show, which was situated right by the tour buses. The closest one happened to contain Trent and a chatty bald man, and they appeared to be watching "Lady Vengeance" or somesuch on a tele. Isn't that a nice story?

Burn is fuckin fantastic beer chugging stuff

Hellafun time...I can say Trent and company put on a pretty damn good night, and if anybody else says otherwise, they don't know their ass from their elbow. Would do it again 100 times...thanks for commin to red rocks!

Im exhasted and stuck in the freakin airport. bleh. Just a few things-

We got a M&G and sound check. Lame.

The pit situation sucked. The venue made the first row against barricade for handicapped and for people who won tickets on a radio show. The venue staff was horrible. When NIN came on they tried to keep us out of the pit which of course was friutless. Unfortunately those fucks who won the tickets were first, and they were being real bitches. HO!!1!! eh. So the pit was lame.

The venue minus shitty staff,,,, fucking spectacular. I couldnt believe how gorgeous the scenery was.

Overall, Im underimpressed. The set list was awesome, I love the big comedown and into the void la la la la But Im not pushing for as many shows as I have been doing. Not traveling so much, it isnt worth it.

I miss Fink (fuck you meathed) and clouser.

Im bummed that I didnt get to hang out with TIMP a little more. im a bonehead and took too long getting pretty.

all i have to say is that nin never disappoints. another fucking spectacular orgasmic experience. nin is pure sex. it was great to see stuff off the Fragile live, since the last time i saw them here in Denver at the Fillmore they didn't do a single Fragile song. It was especially pleasurable to see La Mer/Into the Void. A purley religious experience in every way.

bauhaus was fantastic. they definitely entertain and put on a good show. i have only heard a few of their songs but i will definitely be raiding my boyfriend's bauhaus collection now.

my only disappointment was that there was no nin encore.

I would like to know were or if it is possible to get non-entiy as well.

Whoever says this show was just another typical NIN performance is stupid, there was definatly a magical vibe last night.

The crowd in my area was going nuts by the way, people were moshing to their heavy songs and singing along to all the songs as well. I got knocked down so many times to even remember.

OH, MY GOD...

it redefined what a live show can be. absolutely. fucking. amazing.

first of all, the opening bands were the shit. I'd never really listened to either of them before (I know... Bauhaus is classic, can I use the excuse that I'm 17?) but I'll probably purchase at least one album by each upon receipt of my next check.

I don't think it would be possible to have a perfect NIN setlist, there are so many great songs you couldn't fit them all into a reasonable amount of time. but... opening with Somewhat Damaged, The Big Come Down, Into the Void, balls out version of Non-entity... the lights! the fucking lights!! ahhhhh.

I LOVE Red Rocks. it was my first show there, but the sound was great, and it was BEAUTIFUL. the band was so tight, Trent sounded awesome, and he was even talking to the audience. everything was exactly right. I couldn't sit still, I was so into it, and so were the people around me.

of course I was seated right near the token drunk, shirtless asshole yelling about Johnny Cash during Hurt... but it was a minor setback, and expected.

because of some stuff I've been going through over the past few days, this show ended up having special meaning for me. what a fucking incredible thing, the way music and live performance can connect with people, every person in that audience, in such a personal way.

shit, NIN has come full-circle. for every complaint I've had about the new album, the shows, etc... this washed everything away and leaves me with a whole new respect for Trent Reznor, NIN and live music in general. I look forward now to what NIN will bring in the future.

THANKS GUYS!! please come to Denver again someday.

Hands down this is the best setlist from the whole tour. The venue is awesome and id be willing to fly out here for another concert any day. Only draw back i saw was the parking and trying to leave after the show. its a SINGLE LANE road in all directions, kinda lame. Anyways, TV was pretty good, i hated Bauhaus.....but i think it was mainly due to the guitars being WAY too loud and the vocals being kinda low. At the end of their set, it looked like Peter and the guitarist were about to fight, did anyone else catch that?

NIN's set was almost perfect.......i felt somewhat damaged was a great opener......La Mer and Into The Void sounded great and the rest of the set flowed perfectly. I really have to hand it to the band for willing to sign so many autographs. Ive never seen a band so willing do to something like that before.

Fucking fantastic high-energy show, both from the band and audience. There was certainly a collective 'high'. My favorite of the 3 past Denver shows. If anyone has a hookup for a recording of the show, I'd certainly be interested as well.

Met Aaron the day before in downtown Denver. He was really nice and talked for a couple mintues. The picture of just me and him got fucked up though.

Then I met him again at the meet and greet and this time got him to sign my Icarus Line booklet.

I have to disagree with Minor, I thought Aaron did a fucking great job in The Big Come Down.

This was definitely the best show I've ever seen.

And the fat girl dancing will keep me laughing for weeks. I couldn't help but to watch her for a big portion of TV In The Radio's set.

Bauhaus was good but a little droaning if you know what I mean, but there were really good parts of their set.

Wow! this show had so much energy it was the best i've seen so far, all the guys were really getting down with it...this is the first time i've seen Jeordie rocking out throughout the entire set. Aaron is a such a maniac guitar player gotta love it man he fucking rocks, and i liked the crunchy guitar in the Big Comedown i thought it was killer and the fuck ups are welcome yes because then we get to see shit smashed up.. hell yeah! i would love to see this show all over again, anyone notice how many professional cameras were about, hmm so where's the footage????? bummer that they didn't allow us to bring cameras in unless you were brave and snuck one in - dammit i was a chicken shit and am regretting it now - no pics or vids - but the memory will always be with me , and this day was one of the best days of my life because Trent let us come in for a soundcheck and then a m&g, omfg I was not expecting that at all.

Noir and DJPhatCat were sitting behind me and LunaReptie in front, the ladies in red, i'm not sure what your user names are but when everyone moved up i was right behind you two.

Bauhaus was fucking awesome and TVOTR were cool!

I had intended to among the first to post last night, but unfortunately the Internet I had been stealing got cut off or something. In any case, my impressions of the night are as follows.

What an amazing night.

To begin, we tried to get there fairly early (around 3-ish). However, our MapQuest directions took us to the middle of Denver for whatever reason. Maybe Red Rock's main offices or something? In any case, we ended up getting there right before the will-call opened, which ended up being fine.

To the two wonderful people who gave us a ride up the mountain, thank you very much. I was pretty dissapointed when you ended up having Standard tickets.

In any case, we finally made it to the top of the mountain, and to our surprise found a pretty large Premium Spiral line. Brandi said we were going to get a sound check very soon, but I went ahead and got a litho, just to make sure I got one. Thank God I did.

Just a little side note, did anyone else see the huge fat bitch that was trying to cut her way up the Premium line as we moved in? She did the same thing at Wichita, and I let her then. This time I was able to stop her with just a "Ma'am." While I was mad at her for trying, I was happy she didn't put up a fight.

We got a short soundcheck ("Somewhat Damaged" instrumental while we were in line, and then "Wish" and "Non-Entity"), at which point it was sprinkling off and on. Trent said something to the effect of "It looks like if you guys get wet, I get wet too." And everyone cheered.

After that, we all sat down. I was somewhat expecting them to kick us back out, but to my surprise they started moving people up row by row for a Meet & Greet. This was simply amazing, because there were over 100 people there.

While the rest of the band stayed down behind the rail, Jeordie moved his way up through the sitting crowd, trying to get done early. He didn't realize his fellow band-mates weren't doing the same. He was really cool, saying how he wouldn't be able to play tonight after all these "scribbles". I told him it was an expensive scribble.

The rest of the band was very cool. I didn't know what to say to Alessandro, other than it was really cool that they were doing this. I asked Josh about his hair, and he seemed a little defensive saying "It's just my hair. Sometimes it's red, sometimes it's blue. Just whatever." I also asked him if his heart was doing okay, to which he was confused, and I followed by saying "Well you are better than that other drummer, right?" to which he said "Oh yes. Fuck yes." I also told Aaron he better pull some crazy shit tonight, because I was looking forward to him the most.

I was towards the end of the Meet and Greet, so by the time I got to Trent, he was obviously pretty tired of signing everything. However, I did tell him that I was glad that he was using his position to pursue the American way of life, and speak for what he believes. He told me he really appreciated that. Whether he meant it or not, who knows, but I'd like to think he did.

To the person who said the staff was not very cool, you obviously were not on stage right (Jeordies' side). There was a woman named Pam (I believe) over there was keeping everything in line. She told the people smoking weed to "at least wait until it gets dark" which I thought was perfectly fair. She also kept everyone from smashing down (which could have been disastrous) and I thought that really kept the show enjoyable.

TV on the Radio was really good, in my opinion. None of my friends liked them much, but I thought they were very good. The chick that was dancing (of which a very fitting video was posted) was pretty disgusting, and TV on the Radio commented as well. They said she was beautiful, and that she was probably having the best time there. However, the lead singer did take his glasses off once she started dancing, which I found amusing, even if it wasn't related.

I cannot say I particularly liked Bauhaus' music, but their personality was just so original and weird that I had to like them. If not for their lead singer, I would have hated them. He was very old (they all were), but so strange and somewhat charismatic with a creepy little boy charm. They had a long setlist, but it was good, because the sun needed to fall.

Then came the opening for NIN. I knew everyone had said it was crazy, and surprising, but I had no idea. The lights came down, and the techs were out getting everything ready. Then the pre-music started for a while, and then suddenly they started playing. I thought maybe it was the techs just playing, but then all the sudden Trent started singing. He was in a hooded jacket, with the hood up, and came up and hung on the lights as he sang. Really amazing.

Highlights of the show:

.. Trent getting very angry during "Terrible Lie" and destroying his guitar afterwards.

.. Trent getting very into the song (I can't remember which one, maybe "March of the Pigs" or "Gave Up") and falling on Josh's drums, which the tech's had to fix during the following slow song.

.. Aaron's guitar fucking up, and him getting really pissed of at it.

.. Trent's quote after "Hurt" which no one else has posted, but he may have said before. Before he said it, there was so much applause and wooing that he couldn't get a word in. He kept trying and finally said something like "Can I have just one minute guys?"

"When I wrote "Hurt", I was in a very dark period of my life. (To which there was a little inapproprite wooing) And to be able to stand here, in such a beautiful place, and sing it for you, the best fans in the world, is really a priveledge. Thank you."

.. "Non-Entity", "La Mer/Into The Void", and "The Big Come Down" were all simply amazing live. "Into the Void" especially surprised me.

Simply put, I could not have asked for a better show. The crowd was very wonderful (short of a drunk faggot starting fights several times with a kid he was angry with), and the setting was just amazing. Being three rows back, and looking behind us to see all those people was simply amazing.

Hopefully Trent will remember Red Rocks for the rest of his life as being one of his best shows.

Edit: I did miss "Get Down Make Love," however, the show was so amazing, that it was okay.

It was a little saddenning that the two right sets of lights were screwed up, but it was okay. Made it kind of cool, in my opinion.

I'd also like to say that NIN is extremely influenced by Bauhaus. Bauhaus is one of the veteran bands of goth. Its disappointing to see such little education on them. Back in the day, NIN should've been opening for Bauhaus.

It's not Trents first show at Red Rocks, it seems everybody forgot about the time he played at red rocks in 94-95. My two bothers and his girlfriend went. (one has the stub still so SORRY NOT HIS FIRST RED ROCKS SHOW). Thats why I laughed at a chick in line in front of me at the show because she was full of BS. saying she met the whole band and they stopped the bus and all for her yeah then she said she told trent so how does it feel first time in red rocks. that right there means she is BSing it and I laughed. cause she said trent said ohh yeah first time here great. NO he isn't that stupid ask him yourself people he came to red rocks. But everyone can think what they want but I know for a fact NIN played red rocks before even though is was 11-12 years ago.

Peter murphy was UH-mazing!

Nails seemed like a short set but was a great show anyhoo. I didn't notice the lighting fuck up but whatevvvvz. Always gotta pinpoint the worst in the show foolz.

I agree with TIMP, locals are weeeoird. Except for the chicks behind us in line, they were rad and I'm happy they got center.

OK so I just regained consciousness after passing out for four hours, eight hours at the Denver Intl Airport and two hours on a plane. Bear with me because I entertained myself by writing a long post about the concert.

First, this was definitely the best out of all of the shows I've been to. The venue is spectacular, the pictures don't do it justice. That said, one of the highlights of the evening was the soundcheck and Meet & Greet. We got in for Non-Entity and Wish, five rows back in front of the soundboard=sweet. Someone already mentioned Trent's comments duing soundcheck.

When they finally got to our row for the Meet & Greet Perkules, my sister and I realized we had nothing fo them to sign but the ticket stubs and some cash. We went with the cash... Perk had a $5 and I had a $1, so we get in line and Perk gives me this look like she's going to do something. When we get to Alessandro, he says he would be defacing currency, but at least its not a $1. She started laughing--cue me next in line with my $1 bill. He was really cool and just laughed and said "Well you have $6 together." Josh made a big show about trying to steal our money, and Aaron was cool but a little low-key. Jeordie had already ran around in the stands and came back to the rest of the band really excited about being "all done." He tried to sneak off but Josh made him stay out with them. When I got to Trent, Gino was really trying to move the line along. We exchanged "Nice to meet you's" and he shook my hand and signed my Spiral ticket. Just when I thought I would get away without embarrassing myself, he hands me back the ticket, and I said "Thank you so much, sir." Ack. He didn't say anything, just gave me a quizzical look until I ran back to where Perkules was. My sister was right behind me in line. She's really shy and also really short (4'11). When she got to Trent she wouldn't look up at him, just handed him her ticket. He stooped down to her level and kept saying "Hi, hellooo" until she looked at him.

And Themethatyouknow, if you're not going to post this then I will. He bought Perkules' other Spiral ticket, which had her name on it. Of course the ticket had her name on it. So Trent looks at the ticket, looks at TMTYK, "Your name is Rebecca?"

And TMTYK just bursts out laughing and sort of pointed toward us. Awesome.

The concert was the best I've seen, except for the lyric fuckup during Non-Entity, the new songs were extremely tight. Anyone who didn't like security can kiss my ass, they kept a lot of assholes from overrunning those of us who had been there a looong time. We had an awesome time otherwise.

A big reason why this concert was so great was all the wonderful people I went with. TiMP, Perkules, RectalBarometer, and Themethatyouknow you guys are so great and made the experience that more memorable. Any time there's a show in AZ you guys have a place to stay.

I feel I must start off by telling folks that if you have not seen a show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, it is well worth you money to make a trip to Morrison, Colorado (just outside of Denver) to see someone...anyone...but better yet, see someone like Nine Inch Nails and Bauhaus.

The first opening act was TV on the Radio, and I was actually looking forward to them. I had done a small amount of research and found out that they are on the 4AD label, which also produces a lot of other music I enjoy. I liked their use of distortion as an instrument, without it being overpowering or muddy. It was different than I thought it would be, but it was listenable and a decent choice to kick off the evening.

Next up, of course, was Bauhaus. This was something I had been looking forward to for a long time. I'm a fan of Bauhaus from back in the late 80s, a few years after they all decided to go their separate ways for a while. I have never seen them, nor Love and Rockets, nor any of the other off-shoots of the band, so this was going to be a treat.

The first thing I noticed was Peter Murphy's command of the stage. Very tiger-like, prowling around, striking a pose, pawing Daniel Ash, and singing his ass off. His vocals are still spot-on and beautifully haunting.

I was at the concert with 5 people who hadn’t ever heard of Bauhaus, which really saddened me, as this was a group that paved the road for acts like NIN, Manson, Front242, Sisters of Mercy, and even groups like Depeche Mode were influenced by the goth sounds that Bauhaus was laying down.

As much fun as it was to watch Peter, Daniel Ash was even more fun. He had a feather boa on his shoulders while he killed on the guitar. He is an incredible showman, as well, so watching him strut around the stage was fun. Add on top of that his sax playing abilities, and playing his guitar with a drumstick, and that should help set the stage for you.

David J was brilliant on bass guitar, and while he doesn’t move around that much, he definitely holds his own as the straight man to Ash and Murphy.

Their set wasn’t nearly as long as I’d have liked, but it will have to do for now. Many, MANY thanks to Trent and NIN for bringing Bauhaus back to the masses, and for some folks, thanks for the much-too-late introduction to the godfathers of Goth.

NIN didn’t take TOO long to set up, thankfully, as the crowd was starting to get a little anxious. I do want to stop here and thank the fans at Red Rocks for being…well, not NICE, but certainly cordial. The way that the amphitheatre is set up, it could have made for a lot of injuries had someone started a mosh pit or pushing from above, but I think most everyone was just amped up to see NIN at Red Rocks, arguably one of the best outdoor places to see a concert. And yes, I am biased, having grown up just a stone’s throw from there, but it’s true.

First off, the clarity of the music was incredible. I saw them at the Pepsi Center and at the Fillmore in Denver earlier in the different legs of the tour, and while the Fillmore was incredible, being able to see them so close up, this even blew that concert away.

Trent, once again, came up with a way to “wow” me with his lighting layout, using what looked like security gates from mall storefronts, and turning them into a usable screen in the front of the stage for LED lights. Add the back LED panels (think a shorter version of the Fragile screens), and it made for some killer effects.

The setlist was great, adding in some songs that haven’t been heard live in a while (hopefully this will quiet some of the folks who have been disappointed in the last two legs' set lists), and “Something I Can Never Have” was so perfectly haunting with hardly anyone singing along.

Trent stopped after “Hurt” to let everyone know the origins of the song, and to thank the fans for being there to support him in his music. It was kind of poignant, hearing this typically angry, rock of a man show the side we don’t get to see much. Some people may harp on him for being “soft”, but personally, I like a musician with a few facets to them.

There was no encore, which I didn’t like, but to each artist their own…being a huge NIN fan, I could have stayed there all night and listened to his entire catalog…(well, maybe not the WHOLE thing…have you listened to “Purest Feeling” lately? Shudder…)

I liked the re-hashed versions of some of the older songs, and even though it felt like Aaron phoned in a couple of songs (“Closer” being the one I noticed it most on), the band was pretty tight for the majority of the concert, VERY aggressive, and outstanding.

For me, this was the second best NIN concert that I have been fortunate enough to be a part of. The first being the NIN and David Bowie tour, but this is a VERY close second. And the Fillmore concert last year is a close third.

I'd also like to say that NIN is extremely influenced by Bauhaus. Bauhaus is one of the veteran bands of goth. Its disappointing to see such little education on them. Back in the day, NIN should've been opening for Bauhaus.

I'm the confused one, i've got your names mixed up i guess. I was in the 4th row, all in black, longish brown hair (pretty generic) between the girl with the red/black hair and a guy with a pony tail - I saw all the pics taken in our area - somehow i managed to dodge being in any of them. Once NIN came on, and everyone shifted forward we moved up 2 rows - still center right in front of Aaron and Josh. I can't stop thinking about how amazing this show was!

I actually discussed Trents feelings about performing at Red Rocks. He specifically stated he was very excited to perform there because this would be his first. He obviously appreciated the venue and its natural breathtaking beauty as I saw him snapping photos when I was in the line. He walked around the empty venue - well Gino was hanging off his ass- and took lots of pictures. The stage, the view, us being dorks.

Anyway, I dont think he has ever played this venue. I discussed it with a seasoned NINnie who attended lollapalooza the year TR was on the line up, 94, and he said Trent didnt play the Colorado shows. Gossip ensued so I'll cut that out.

Phatkat and I were thinking the same thing. It's hard to tell, but I think they've said at more recent shows that it was fixed. That and the fact that after the NIN sign shut off, where the 'mess up' shit was was still on.

Likewise, I saw the manson/ jim rose show as well as the later show with bowie.

I would have at least thought very hard about seeing nin at red rocks (as it is the best venue in denver and one of the best in the nation). I have NO memory of this.

Here's my better-late-than-never review, made possible by the fact that my trip to the Bahamas got all fucked up due to passport issues. So if I have to be at work, I might as well be posting here.

It was great meeting Timp, brightshadow3960 and her sister, RectalBarometer, and Themethatyouknow. Thanks for waiting at the airport for an hour while I found you guys! You guys are all welcome to stay with me anytime NIN plays in Florida. In fact, anyone with the word Rectal in their name can stay with me anytime.

The five of us had decided the night before that we didn't really care to get in line early on the off chance they'd do a soundcheck. We decided to leave the hotel at 3PM. Timp and RB were off getting something to eat and were going to bring some fast food back to us girls at the hotel. It's 2:45 and no sign of the boys. Timp finally calls and I answer "God, we're soooo hungry!" He just starts yelling "No time for food! Soundcheck in 30 minutes!" I tell the girls and we all start screaming. For 5 people who "didn't really care" if we met the band, we sure were freaking the fuck out. I only had the chance to get one shoe on when my phone rings again and I hear "Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Downstairs NOW ladies!" We run out to the car, drive like maniacs to the venue, zooming around cars who were trying to find parking. Finally got there, grabbed our sexy blue ponchos and walked our asthmatic asses up the ramp.

We got our tickets from Brandi, who has to be the most patient person in the world to have to always be dealing with crazy Spiral fans. For instance, when we were about to go in for soundcheck and Themethatyouknow still wasn't there to get my other ticket, I asked if I could leave it with her. She told me to write his name on the envelope, but I only knew him as Matt / TMTYK. No last name. If I were Brandi, I would have said to me "What the hell am I supposed to do with this, you stupid bitch", but she politely told me the Will Call people might not release it to him that way. So I asked the girl in the front of the Standard Spiral line if she could please not steal the ticket and give it to my friend when he comes. Ryan in the Miami Vice t-shirt, you rock. And finally, TMTYK shows up! Thanks a lot also to Timp and RB for letting me use your cell phones so much since mine sucked so much ass.

It started raining just as we were going into SC. We piled in the first few rows all wearing ponchos and head banging with our silly hoods up. The TVotR guys were at the back of the stage laughing at us during soundcheck. They only played 2 songs, I figured because of the rain. But then Trent said "See you guys in a couple of minutes." Then he took a picture of us from the stage. Then security announces "OK people - stay calm. We're going to be taking you row by row to meet the band and get something signed." Then came several minutes of For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen, what should I say? What should I have signed? Hug or handshake? Should I leave my hood up?

During her turn, the crazy dancing chick (see Timp's video) just had to give Trent a hug. Timp yells out "Run, Trent! Run!" Everyone was laughing. We were in the last row, so by the time it was our turn Jeordie had come into the crowd to sign stuff. I can't figure out if he's freaked out by M&G's or just bored/pissed off. We made eye contact and I smiled and said hi, and handed him my $5 bill. He didn't say anything or smile and just signed it. When he handed it back to me I smiled again and said thanks, but he just kind of looked at me like I was a freak. Then we went down to meet the rest of the band. Alessandro was funny with the "Together you have $6" comment that brightshadow explained earlier. Josh put the money in his pocket and started to walk away, then started laughing and signed it. He was definitely the most outgoing, and not at all weird about it. Aaron was suprisingly quiet and we just exchanged how are yous. Then we made our way to the other end where Trent was. The guy in front of me was taking a long time gushing about how much he appreciates everything and security was getting annoyed, so when it was my turn I just tried to be fast. I shook Trent's hand (or did he shake mine like he had to shake brightshadow's???), was calm enough to make eye contact, and said nice to meet you with a big stupid grin on my face. He said nice to meet you back, and I handed him my $5. He said something about defacing government currency and I said something about it being a felony. He handed it back and looked at me again to see if I had anything else to say, but I just said it was nice to meet you again. I stood off to the side as bs3960 and her sister had their turns, and then heard Trent say to TMTYK "You're Rebecca?" and start laughing at him. With him. With him. The funniest part was TMTYK didn't even say anything like "No, I'm Matt." or "That's Rebecca over there." He just shook his head no and didn't say anything! Hilarious.

When TVotR came out, the singer started to say "It's so great to see so many beautiful people", but cracked up during the word beautiful. At first I thought it was because we were all rain soaked, but then I realized that we probably don't look like their usual crowd. I tried focusing on the band, but I was distracted by security laughing hysterically, and we all know why. Then they dedicated "Wolf Like Me" to her, saying the song couldn't possibly be about anyone else. I thought TVotR was great. Hooray for the disco version of Staring at the Sun.

Bauhaus was.......special. I'm sure I would have been a huge fan back in the day if I had known their music then. I love Peter Murphy's voice, and the music was/is excellent. But it was just kind of cheesy. He came into the crowd and sang with his arms around some girl who wasn't even born when he first started touring. Then PM got into it with Daniel Ash after a slap across the face with a rose and a botched attempt at a water fight. I think they really were pissed at each other, so DA just started playing wildly and overshadowing PM's vocals. Oh, and Jeordie was taking pictures during their set.

Not a long wait for NIN. I didn't even realize Trent was on the stage when Somewhat Damaged started. He was hanging thru the gate thingy with his hood up when he started singing. That was a nice change. Although I still think every concert in every venue everywhere should start with Pinion, even if the band performing isn't NIN. There were some sound problems throughout the show, but who the fuck cares. It was awesome. I can't remember what song it was when TR was standing on the drum kit for a good 30 seconds before falling completely over towards Josh. Help Me I Am In Hell was great. Into the Void? Awesome! The full band version of Non Entity is great too. It was cool to see Alessandro playing guitar and going crazy on top of his keyboards. Not much else to say that hasn't already been said. Only that thank God the crowd didn't surge forward as I feared. We would have really gotten hurt.

Driving home sucked, especially since I had a migraine and thought I was going to pass out / throw up at any moment, even during the show. Getting 2 hours of sleep and then leaving for the airport super early sucked too. Especially since Timp missed his flight anyway! But at least we all got to eat breakfast together. I miss you guys. *sniff*

EDIT: I don't know what I was thinking about Bauhaus. I just saw them 2 more times in North Carolina and I am a total convert. I completely fucking love them now and have been listening to nothing but the Gotham CD since I got back. I am also completely obsessed with Daniel Ash now.

Yep, I found that out right before I was heading to Miami to wait in line for 3 hours (even though I had an appointment) to get my passport the same day. Then after I found out that it would be another 2 hours, I decided to just pick it up another day and use my birth certificate and license. Drove an hour back to work only to realize THEY KEEP YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE WITH YOUR APPLICATION. So now I only have my license. It was too late in the day to go back, and my flight was at 8:00 this morning. Oh well. Everything happens for a reason.

I also want to state for the record that of all the thousands of people who post on ETS and/or go to the shows, it was great luck that the 4 people I met up with were totally chill and down to earth. We all got along great even when exhausted and starving. I would totally travel with you guys again.

oh yeah, and the dancing girl, I know everyone i knew was annoyed by her, but I thought she was hilarious and she was having a good time so it was all good, when the drink went flying though, i cracked up so hard, but the security guard was not too happy about it, it was some pink lemonade drink , a full cup at that, after the show I saw her in the bathroom and she was still dancing! hey, life is for living!

anyway, TERRIFIC show, my favorites were definitely non entity and la mer/into the void. the crowd was too mellow, i was the only one in my section screaming my head off and jumping around like an idiot.

The first Lollopalooza was held over at crappy Fiddler's Green...another outdoor venue, but a FAR cry from Red Rocks...

The thing you're forgetting is NIN didn't play most of the first lollapalooza. They probably played 5-6 shows (I'm not sure), then left because their gear kept breaking down. When you consider how few shows they played, and of those how few their gear worked for- it's amazing just how big a boost for them it was.

I and a friend were going to go to lollapalooza just to see NIN, but the night before tickets went on sale the anouncemnet was made that NIN had dropped out of the tour. I think living colour replaced them (but I'm not positive).

During the downward spiral era live shows he routinely made out with his band on stage.

When they played with bowie at one point he was rolling around on the floor kissing and making out with one of the guys.

I haven't heard of him doing that stuff in years, but he certainly might have.

I knew Manson did this onstage with Twiggy but I had no idea that Trent did this. Hilarious! Are there any vids of this floating around?

Videos? Probably. I've actually never waded through all the live material on closure. It wouldn't surprise me if there was some there somewhere. If not there, how many hundreds of fan vids are probably floating around...?

As far as Manson, manson was opening on the TDS tour. One of them probably got the idea from the other- although I have a memory of reznor saying it started off stage as a way to get journalists to go away if they didn't feel like talking to them and progressed from there.

had a great time.....knew red rocks was a weird venue for nin...but it rocked....loved both opening bands....really dug the guitar player with the large fro in the first band.....peter murphy rocked but we all had a tough time hearing him over the instuments.......loved his white pointy shoes.......

took 2 tries to get in with camera and booze but we made it......didnt get pics of first band due to it still being light out.........

also included are a few minutes of video clips from the one camera...dont get too excited though.....but these all might help get you drooling for when they come to your town or keep you entertained while we paitiently wait for the audio seed to resume..................

red rocks rules.......!!!!!!

always has ......always will........saw some shows at the gorge in wa and camping right there is a geat way to do it but i still love red rocks the best.....

we got to red rocks about two hours early to get good seats. the people that worked for red rocks told us the wrong place to sit. we were told the general admission section was reserved seating. we got bumped from our seats halfway through bauhaus and ended up sitting on the tree potters on the left side of the stage throughout the nine inch nails set. all i could see was the video screen and a little bit of the show visuals when i stood up.

i honestly couldn't stand tv on the radio. the crowd was wrong for them and i personally just couldn't get into them at all. i thought when they started, roadies were soundchecking... autolux was better, and that is seriously saying something.

bauhaus was awesome. the guitar was seriously too loud, though. the vocals got overpowered and were hard to hear at times. they played for over an hour, much longer than tv on the radio.

nine inch nails was amazing, as always. i loved the setlist and trent's little speech after hurt was played. from what i could see, their visual screens were awesome and blended well. i do prefer the projection screens they did in the fall, though. as was said earlier in this topic, the setlist was a little bit heavy on songs from the fragile, but previous shows were a little too downward spiral heavy for my tastes. i didn't mind the set at all. i enjoyed the big come down and help me i am in hell especially.

since i basically could only listen to the music, not watch or do anything but sit, it wasn't my favorite show by far. i've seen them for three of the four with teeth shows in colorado, and it's a close tie between the show last may and the show in october for a favorite. the dresden dolls were by far their best opening act and the visuals they provided in the fall were the best in my opinion.

They definitely played here in Denver. However, he got hit in the head with a beer bottle thrown from the crowd and ended up walking off the stage a bit sooner than many folks had wanted. He said something about never playing Denver again, and while it WAS quite a few years before he came back, thankfully he did.

I know it's kind of late...but better late than never.

I...don't even know how to describe how...incredible this was. It was the first time seeing nine inch nails (I haven't been a fan for long but when I did hear the fragile 2 disc I fell in love) and I was very glad to have seen it at Red rocks.

I guess it might have been the almost overbearing prescence of mary jane in the air but there was something amazing about this concert that almost made it hard to fall asleep that night. I was too energized. But I had finals the next day so I let my body do its thing.

I was suprised on how many songs I knew, I wasn't expecting that, being new and all. I was also really suprised when he played Something I can never have as well as starting with somewhat damaged.

All in all, this show was the most amazing night of my life, by far, and Trent and the gang should definently consider coming back very soon.

Here is a brief account, from my point of view, of NIN @ Red Rocks as witnessed live, last tuesday 05/30/2006...

I'll start with the set list...

1) Somewhat Damaged

7) Closer (with Down In It outro)

10) Help Me I Am In Hell
11) Non-Entity

14) Adrift and at Peace or La Mer (reduced) [still clarifying/debating]
15) Into The Void
16) The Big Comedown
17) Suck
18) Hurt
19) The Hand That Feeds
20) Head Like a Hole

The show started at 9:25pm and ended at 10:55pm - it was a very tight set list with little to no gaps or fucking around between songs. Trent did say 'thank you' a few times, and broke for a minute after playing 'Hurt' to explain to the crowd how he really felt connected to the time emotionally, (when he wrote the song) during the night's performance, and subsequently thanked us for participating etc. Overall, you could tell that Trent was excited to be playing at Red Rocks, thru his jumping, flexing, posing, smashing, and singing... Make no mistake people, the new, clean, sober, muscular, head-shaven Trent does in fact, rock us harder than ever before!!! He even gave the official NIN fist-pump motion twice... once with a running start in profile!!! Now that's what I call WITH BEEF!!!

Aside from the fact that TRENT REZNOR is ALL that is man, the rest of the band stepped up their participation levels, and they sufficiently rocked out with their respective cocks out as well. I was especially pleased with Jeordie's performance (I still like to call him Twiggy), who I haven't seen rock out that hard since his days with Marilyn Manson. Aaron was all over the place, practically falling off of the stage and into the crowd on more than one occasion. I've always loved watching Josh play the drums for A Perfect Circle, as he seems VERY connected to the music he plays, in an almost trance-like state at the drum-kit; with NIN though, he is definitely more aggressive!!! He raises his arms high into the air and pounds the kit with a demonic fury I've not seen from him before. He may be the most visually impressive drummer I've watched live and is definitely in my top five list of favorite/best drummers, period!

Overall, the entire band was VERY energetic and aggressive... Trent killed three mics/micstands, smashed one guitar completely, attacked Josh's drum kit more than once, and Aaron used his guitar to stab and smash his amp all within the first four songs of the set!!!

Lights... Trank Razzle NEVER disappoints... This being my fifth NIN show, he has never put on a show that lacked a creative and visually impressive lighting setup. This time he used at least three big LED panels in the background (think slightly smaller/thinner versions of what was used for Fragility 2.0) that were closer together, making it more like one giant screen above and behind the stage set... There were all new visuals this time, used in conjunction with a metal, cage-like grating that was lowered down in three sections in front of the stage. (I compare it to a giant sized version of the gates that are pulled down in front of indoor mall stores when they're closed.) It was covered entirely in multi colored LED's and was used throughout the show in sections and at different heights to accentuate the variety of the many-colored, swivel, spot, and strobe lights that were above and to the sides of the stage. All these dark suckers were being raised and lowered in a slow, mechanical, throbbing motion that made the rock stage feel like it was alive and reacting to the music, or even itself performing in time with the band and reacting to the crowd... at it's tamest point leaving the stage dark, smoke filled and cold, or at times teeming with life, completely swallowing up the musicians, gear and some of the crowd in a blinding spectrum of furious white hot luminescence!!! SHOCK and AWE muthafuckers!!!

I do have quite a few digital pictures taken during the show at a 960 x 1280 resolution, so I hope they turn out well. I lack any wireless svc or the cable to run from the camera to a computer, so once I get that taken care of I'll post a link to the pix.

Unfortunately, the best description I can provide cannot even come close to explaining or effectively conveying the emotional connection felt during this living, breathing event of a lifetime! I feel so fortunate to have experienced this with a close group of long-time friends, and I will remember it as one of the most incredibly great shows of my life! I only wish that those of you who were absent could have experienced it with me. Don't worry though... it will be out on DVD for you to enjoy at home within a year or so!
