HOLY CRAP!

It was amazing! I'm pissed as hell they didn't play TBCD, but other than that, I think this may ahve been the best show of the 9 I've seen so far. We'll see if they pull out Dead Souls and Starfuckers tomorrow to trump tonight.

I'm doing this all from memory, so I may be off a little and may have forgotten one or two.

It was a treat and a half to see Non-Enitity and Get Down Make Love. GDML was SO heavy.

I have to say, without a doubt, up until Suck, this show was just amazing. The energy was through the roof. The band was absolutely on fire. The sound was...Jesus. The sound was so incredible I still can't believe how awesome it was.

Closer was PERFECT tonight and completely made up for last night being fucked up. Everything was amazing.

And then, instead of hearing Josh hit the high-hat four times before kicking into TBCD, fucking SUCK came on. I only like that song marginally to begin with, but the fact it REPLACED my third favorite song to see live really upset me and it honestly kinda ruined the show. I know it sounds petty, but I was looking forward to it so much and they've played it at EVERY other show! I went with a friend that I've been to 5 other shows with and he loves the song too, so I kept telling him about the La Mer/Into the Void/The Big Comedown trifecta and he was really upset they didn't play it.

Ah well...I think tonight's HLAH was the best I've ever seen/heard. It was so fucking loud, so fucking heavy and SO FUCKING INTENSE. God...what an AWESOME show.

Speaking of HLAH...did anyone else see Aaron take a HUGE spill right before the second verse in front of Alessandro? Alex was laughing SO hard. Aaron got up and started pushing on his keyboard and finally just bent his mic back. I was laughing so hard. I love this band.

I was in section 2, row J, seat 25...left, center. Between Jeordie and Trent, more by Jeordie.


EDIT 2: I got there late, too, so I wouldn't have to see Peaches or Bauhaus again and it made the night MUCH more enjoyable. Though, we got in pretty late and were worried about missing the start so I rushed past the merch stand thinking there'd be lithos after I got out.

There weren't. Hopefully I can eBay one...

FIRST!! EDIT: Damn you super KYLE

Well it was awsome! Peaches did her normall run around the crowd as with her standing on the railing. She opened with impeach my bush like yesterday same setlist. The other members did not seem to have as much energy as compaired to chicago. Is the drummer also one of the many drummers of Eagles of Death Metal? Also am i the only one that realized the main KEYTARIST is JD SAMSON from le tigre! and the entire band are girls.


Bauhaus was great but the guitarist did not run aroudn the crowd like chicago because the marcus really wasn't fit for it. The guitarist did take off his fur unlike last night which wasn't surpirsing cause it was fucking HOT! He did his moon-walk in place during two differnt songs with his big fucking stick. He went to the right side fo the stage for that one song where he stands under the light as compauired to the right in chicago.

NIN! He talked and seemed amazed at the crowd and our energy. He said that they were on their last few shows and that they were gogin to take a few montsh off to finsih the record then they woudl be back in no time. He said thank you alot.

wow that show was amazing! love the whole for lighting for Non-Entity and help me i'm in hell! The highlight of the show for me was Down In It and Final Solution what an awesome song! set lists look right! later my fellow nin fans!

Amazing show, fantastic setlist! I was thrilled to hear GDML live for the first time, and Down In It totally rocked out! I almost didn't go to this show even though it's only an hour away, and I am *so* glad I changed my mind!!

We had seats in Row D of the yellow section, which normally would have been pretty good...except that we were on the very end, so there was a ton of equipment obscuring our view and we didn't get to properly enjoy the light show due to being so far off to the side. It was, however, a great vantage point from which to see Joan Jett come walking out from the backstage area before NIN started.

Oh, and the terribly disturbing sight of the night...there was a young, obviously pregnant woman a couple rows up who was drinking beer after beer....

All these setlists seem to ignore the fact that they played "Slipping Away" which made my balls tingle.

Surprised at the amazing show they put on given the stage. Usually Marcus Amphitheater fails to do bands justice, but Trent and company rocked the balls off the place. If anyone managed to hear what he said let me know. We heard part of it (something about "Summerfest" and "a year and three months") then the crowd lost it when he started talking about a new album and coming back again.

And I agree, Closer was fucking perfect. Audio and visual were top notch. Totally on point.

You must be confused. Not sure what concert you were listening to but perhaps you mistook "In The Void"?

The aforementioned setlist is accurate...by far and away the hands-down BEST FUCKING SHOW of the entire With Teeth tour. Still doesn't top Fragility v2.0, but the energy, musicianship, visuals, and setlist left me speechless.

Personally, when I saw that Somewhat Damaged was the standard opener for this leg of touring, I was kind of like, 'eh, cool, but it won't hold a candle to Mr. Self Destruct.' Turns out, Somewhat Damaged used the no-lube approach and proceeded to be the baddest fucking opener anyone could've imagined. Trent and Josh were going absolutely crazy during this one.

Err, sorry for the double, but I accidentally replied too fast...

anyway, another thing about the Winter leg vs. this current summer one...Josh Freese didn't impress me much back in February. He was on for the most part back then, but didn't add really anything to the songs, and after listening to the converted lepers hailing him as the rythmic savior of NIN live, I was kinda disappointed with him being added to the band. They mine as well have kept Alex. Sunday night, Freese fucking destroyed the venue. It was one of the most impressive displays of musical talent I have ever seen live, and at times it felt like a two-man band between the power of Trent's vocals and Josh's drumming. He really shined on You Know What You Are?, Wish, Down In It, Closer, and Head Like a Hole. Oh, and also The Wretched. What Josh did at the end of Wish almost created a black-hole. For the next incarnation of NIN live, I sure as hell hope Freese stays around. I've been hearing that Jeordie has been getting a lot more lively during this leg, but as usual, Sunday night he really didn't do much in terms of showmanship. Very solid musically, great tone and added a huge crunch to Closer, but if you saw during the Manson days, he's basically inert on stage.

It was pretty damn cool to hear Get Down Make Love, Down In It, La Mer, Into The Void, and Help Me I Am in Hell.

As unusual as NIN is, the most unusual thing is how you can still be putting on performances that could be on par or better than anything they've done in the past. Oh, and supposedly "we're taking a short break for a few months to finish a new album, but we'll be seeing again soon." We'll see, but this summer tour shoudl be able to hold any fan satisfied for a long, long time.

And true to form, dorky comment of the night made by Trent: "Summerfest, eh. Sure feels like summer!"

"The last time Nine Inch Nails played Milwaukee, the industrial-rock quartet commanded by Trent Reznor finished off the sellout crowd in February at the Eagles Ballroom with a torrential rendition of "Head Like a Hole," leaving the crowd battle-weary yet still wanting more.

Since that show five months ago, NIN has torn a trail across the U.S. multiple times, touring in support of the 2005 release, "With Teeth." On Sunday, Reznor and company were back in town, this time at the Marcus Amphitheater as Summerfest headliners near the completion of their "Inconvenient Truth" tour.

And again, as with the performance in February, Nine Inch Nails fans made the pilgrimage for another force-feeding of Reznor's distinctive and imaginative style of loud and angry modern rock.

The band began the show with a determined assault on both the eyes and ears. With the house lights still on and roadies still on stage making pre-show adjustments from behind a cage-like structure, the band members slowly and inconspicuously crept out and launched into "Somewhat Damaged."

Peering through the cage like captured animals, the musicians opened the show as if the louder and more forcefully they played, the better the chances were they would escape the cage.

As the muscle-bound Reznor wailed through the opener and the entire hour and 40-minute, 20-plus-song set, guitarist Aaron North's growling guitar and drummer Josh Freese's rapid-fire, chest-punching drum work announced NIN's presence early and with authority.

But to pigeonhole Nine Inch Nails as simply another head-banging and testosterone-driven band, one of the few acts to survive the alternative music boom of the early 1990s, ignores the broad range of Reznor's creative talent.

In fact, some of the standout moments of Sunday's show were from the lighter, softer entries of Reznor's musical catalogue, such as the gentle piano piece "La Mer" and the angst-ridden classic "Hurt."

To complement his music, Reznor created an elaborate visual space in the amphitheater. Choreographed lighting, a massive video screen set behind the band, the cage structure, all amid a constant smoky haze, could have easily stood as a visual performance art piece.

With only three dates left on the tour and a note on the band's Web site hinting that this current string of performances may be the last ones for some time, NIN appeared driven to leave every last ounce of rage, sweat and the shattered remains of their instruments on the stage."

Peaches:
After hearing some hit or miss testimony about Peaches, I prepared myself for the worst. Fortunately, while I didn't exactly love the act to death, Peaches surprised me in a good way. The sound was interesting at times, but it was really the leader singer's spazastic theatrics combined with the drummer's hair that kept me going for a reasonable amount of time.

Bauhaus:
For the most part, this band was enjoyable. I honestly was not very familiar with Bauhaus prior to the concert, but am now casually thinking that I might look further into some of their music. Not everything was great though. The stick got old and while the act was good and deserved every minute, the setlist was a little long for my impatient self.

Nine Inch Nails:

Somewhat Damaged: While not my favorite song, I thought it served as a decent piece to open with. The usual "surprise" entrance combined with the gradual increase in tempo worked well.

You Know What You Are, Terrible Lie, March of the Pigs: Nice.

The Frail, The Wretched: I was happy to hear this combination instead of one of my least favorite Nine Inch Nails songs, Something I Can Never Have. As usual, the songs came together perfectly and made me happy.

Closer: Flawless. One of the best songs of the night.

Burn: The blue flames were fun. Trent seemed happy during this song. The crowd was really into it.

Gave Up: I have heard it so many times, but it was still good to hear.

Help Me I am in Hell: Very nice visuals. The instrumental of the night.

Non-Entity: The surprise of the night. I had my doubts, but the amazing visuals combined with the awesome, full band participation, shut the pessimistic side of me up completely.

Only: Always a good live song.

Wish: See Gave Up.

La Mer, Into the Void: A nice change of pace. I especially liked how the band immediately began performing Into the Void right after the La Mer.

Suck: I would have loved to see The Big Comedown complete the "trifecta" or maybe even Reptile, but I still enoyed the song.

Get Down Make Love, Down In it: The best 1-2 punch of the night. Minor, previously unsaid note: Trent introduced the two songs.

Hurt: You know how this goes. Nice. The band fading in towards the end is always a nice touch.

Final Solution: Prior to the concert, I was not exactly psyched about the possibility of this happening, but in reality, it all worked out well. The song was pretty decent, and honestly, it was nice to see Trent play a little bit more guitar than normal.

The Hand That Feeds: See Only (although, Only's visuals were little bit more impressive).

Head Like a Hole: Intense. On another side note: superkyle: I caught Aaron's spill as well.

Overall:
What do you think I am going to say? It was great. It was nice to see great performance by a happy Trent and a energetic crowd.

I know this is maybe a bit off topic, but does anybody know what music was playing before NIN came on? I heard some of what I thought was Recoil, but there was another song after that was really familiar but I couldn't place. Anyone know?

The quality of the show was excellent, though I thought the "quantity" could've been a bit better. They played just short of an hour and a half, and there was no encore.

Well unfortunatly due to my possitioning... i couldnt see Alessandro at all... which dissapoints me... i am now a little eager to see aarons fall... any vid?

I hadnt had much time to look over chicagos set list before i left.. as so far my weekend has been non stop action, but i was quite plesantly surpised...

I dont have many specific comments on songs other than For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.... I wasnt too farmiliar with get down make love... or the final solution... but gtml turned out to be sweet, and final solution was ok... but im not too big into the bahaus, I think i liked maybe 2 of setlist... which turned out to be quite long and loud...

I was really hoping to see Reptile again... as i had heard it back in feb... but i didnt have the same respect for it as i do now...


I like the whole sneaking out on stage deal... not only were the roadies still out... but the backround music continued for close to 15 seconds after trent appeared with full house lights holding onto the cage...

Im still quite tired right now so i dont remember much else other than this is really the highlight of my summer..

Amazing as usual. Highlights for me were Somewhat Damaged, Burn, La Mer, Into the Void, and Hurt. I don't think I've ever heard Hurt sound better, and Somewhat Damaged was fucking intense.

The visuals really hit me this time, too. The little wall of lights that comes down, the background screen, and the regular lights worked well together, it was the best display I've ever seen.

Any pics or vids from the show would be great..

Finally back from the long weekend. This concert was the true highlight of it all. I was sitting in Sec. 2 Row AA, seat 30 with my best friend in 31 (straight ahead view of Trent and Josh). From the looks of things, we had some great positioning.

I must say I loved Peaches. I'd heard some of her stuff on Music Choice and other internet music outlets, but I really enjoyed her performance. The audio was pretty clear at this point.

I found myself really appreciating Bauhaus. I'd heard some of their earlier songs. Peter Murphy's performances with TR and others really warmed me up to his voice. I was blown away by his energy and the band's piercing sound. His sexy dance moves (you know, the walk-in-place/cha-cha/moonwalk with cane in hand) were a bonus. It wasn't quite dark enough yet but the lightning was still quite effective. At this point, the sound was a little off, I couldn't hear Murphy's voice with the best clarity but the instruments were amazing.

NIN hit the ground running with "Somewhat Damaged"...still my favorite album opener and now, my favorite concert opener. The energy never stopped, even with "La Mer" and "Hurt" in the mix. I was extremely pleased with the setlist. GDML, "Suck" and "Into the Void" were my highlights. Every song just seemed very tight, very polished. All of the energy from the bands and the crowd, not to mention great setlists, made my second NIN show incredible.

You forgot Down In It.

I'm really surprised by that song. I never really liked it all that much before, but ever since seeing it live, I'm in love with it. It's so heavy and crazy live!

I was in the yellow seats, row E, just left of center. It really was a great show. I did hear what he said. It went something like:

"Thank you, Summerfest... It sure feels like summer up here. [wipes forhead] Well...I've been working on some stuff for, oh, about a year... a year and three months, and... when it's done we'll be back on the road."

That was the gist of it. Other than the music, I loved looking around at the VAST variety of people that showed up for this concert. There was the typical goth crowd in their black, mesh, pseudo-bondage gear, and combat boots. There were a lot of average-looking 30-somethings, like me. The highlight of my night was the row of 50-somethings in front of me, and this one guy (who looked disturbingly like my father) screaming the lyrics for "Head Like a Hole." It certainly surprised the goth couple two seats down from me, and the pot-smoking preppy boys next to me, that dumped a beer down my leg.

I really loved the visuals for this show better than "The Fragile" tour, which was the last show I went to. The cage was neat and really added an interesting multi-dimentional layering. What was the song where the rear screens flashed red and blue so fast I thought I was going to have an epileptic seizure?

Sorry to double post.. I forgot to say in my previous post that, wow, Trent looks pretty amazing these days, all ripped. I didn't think I'd like him with short hair but it's working for him.

Bauhaus:

You Know What You Are, Terrible Lie, March of the Pigs: Nice.

The Frail, The Wretched: I was happy to hear this combination instead of one of my least favorite Nine Inch Nails songs, Something I Can Never Have. As usual, the songs came together perfectly and made me happy.

Closer: Flawless. One of the best songs of the night.

Burn: The blue flames were fun. Trent seemed happy during this song. The crowd was really into it.

Gave Up: I have heard it so many times, but it was still good to hear.

Help Me I am in Hell: Very nice visuals. The instrumental of the night.

Non-Entity: The surprise of the night. I had my doubts, but the amazing visuals combined with the awesome, full band participation, shut the pessimistic side of me up completely.

Only: Always a good live song.

Wish: See Gave Up.

La Mer, Into the Void: A nice change of pace. I especially liked how the band immediately began performing Into the Void right after the La Mer.

Suck: I would have loved to see The Big Comedown complete the "trifecta" or maybe even Reptile, but I still enoyed the song.

Get Down Make Love, Down In it: The best 1-2 punch of the night. Minor, previously unsaid note: Trent introduced the two songs.

Hurt: You know how this goes. Nice. The band fading in towards the end is always a nice touch.

Final Solution: Prior to the concert, I was not exactly psyched about the possibility of this happening, but in reality, it all worked out well. The song was pretty decent, and honestly, it was nice to see Trent play a little bit more guitar than normal.

The Hand That Feeds: See Only (although, Only's visuals were little bit more impressive).

Head Like a Hole: Intense. On another side note: superkyle: I caught Aaron's spill as well.

Overall:
What do you think I am going to say? It was great. It was nice to see great performance by a happy Trent and a energetic crowd.

You forgot Down In It.

I'm really surprised by that song. I never really liked it all that much before, but ever since seeing it live, I'm in love with it. It's so heavy and crazy live!

My comment about Down In It was there. It can be found by my Get Down Make Love comment ("the best 1-2 punch of the night"). I did not really say much about the two songs, but they were definitely two of the best songs I heard that night.

Where can one find non-entity to download? I was at the concert and just loved it, though I had mainly come to see Bauhaus. NIN put on an amazing show

Im pissed. I went through hell to get to that show and i dont remember it at all. when i found out the played non-entity and get down, make love, I was PISSED!
