They played "All the Love in the World" during the soundcheck, sounded great!

There was so much dry ice on stage for the first four songs they could've just stayed in the dressing room and stuck a CD on!

Also, Trent seemed pretty pissed off at the Manchester crowd from the gig before?

My ticket said upper standing but I ran to the front bar and held on, just beside the spiral memebrs, so it showed that I didn't have to join the spiral afterall, I got right BANG in the middle and the front got squashed like fuck though XD

He did the Line begins to blur!!!!

Having been to 7 shows... i dont think this was the best one. But was nice to hear 'we're in this together' which i hadn't heard before. Ruiner was one of my favourite songs so i was a little disapointed not to hear it... If i didnt have exams i would go to the gig on the 1st, but I can't

'Hurt' and 'Head like a hole' were extreamly well recieved as usual, as was the 'hand that feeds'. Trent was happy with the crowd it seemed. He said the manchester crowd were crap, and that after manchester he was starting to think that 'this island was pretty shitty' but I think we put a spring in his step again!

Does anyone know the setlist in order?

Agreed about the dry ice! However, the band was completely top notch and the sound was excellent. Amazing performance, looking forward to more (and a different setlist) tonight.

Ladytron sucked arse, considering taking my MP3 player and listening to it during their set tonight.

Could not see anything at all for the first few songs - enough with the smoke machines already! We were up in the balcony (and how much do I wish I'd had better tickets?) and even we were choking on it. Also, from our position, the lights weren't great. I imagine they'd look pretty cool from the floor though.

Most amusing part of the night: some guy next to us decided to use the quietness of Hurt to make a special request to Trent. Never thought I'd hear someone sound quite so desperate to hear them play Ringfinger! Think he got a kicking for his trouble, serves his ignorant ass right.

Has anyone heard any news regarding the USB pen?

Was there even one at last night's show?
(because if not im scouring the toilets tonights, :->)


On a more appealing note, last night was absolutely fantastic, bar the incredible amount of dry ice (although to be fair it meant the venue was nice and cool for most of the set)

I'm a big fan of Ladytron and I've seen them a few times, however a few sound problems and an uninterested crowd made them seem a lot worse than they actually are.

It was like a poor episode of Doctor Who.

Brilliant gig, ridiculous amounts of dry ice and pisspoor performance by Ladytron (vocals mainly) aside. We're in This Together seemed to get a great reaction considering the mixed feelings some fans seem to have about it. Always wanted to hear Last and No, You Don't live, and Into the Void was a highlight too. I needn't have worried about Survivalism; not only is it growing on me as a track, but it's extra good live; sounds fresh and yet familiar at the same time (probably just due to having lots of live guitar). Aaron was going some, wasn't he? In fact loads of energy all round; nothing worse than watching an established band that's just going through the motions. Maybe being a "one man band" and picking your own line-up every few years is the way to go!

Not really sure what Trent was on about re the manchester crowd; was it just a peptalk for the moshers or was the crowd at the Apollo really as crap as he made out?

Some lucky bastages catching stuff down at the front, including the infamous tambourine. Only downside for me was managing to drop my tour t-shirt somehow, like some sort of cretin. If any kind soul happened to have picked it up (in the back left raised area with the bench seats) and (for some reason) feels like telling me... I'll send 'em a fiver or something.

For those bitching about the dry ice for the first three songs I saw Trent PERFECTLY he was jumping about like a bitch at mr.self detruct. Then again I was at the front D:

If you were at the front you could see through the dry ice. I supposedly had a balcony ticket (??) but queuing up for seven hours to get the front was WELL worth the wait!

You are so right! He's fucking tiny! I never thought he was THAT small.

We came from Dundee 9 am and queued up at 12 I mean...like it was freezing I nearly died of the cold *lol*

This isn't exactly related to the gig, but who knows, the lady mentioned may be a member on here. She might've been slightly too drunk to remember, but she spent a fair amount of time after the gig trying to get into my pants because I "looked like Trent Reznor". Too her horror she later discovered that, "WHIT? YER A GIRL? BUT... YE LOOK LIKE A MAN!" to which someone else shouted, "TRENT REZNOR WITH TITS!"


On a personal note, sadly this is a regular occurence at gigs.


It was a great show. I'm going tonight as well. The light show was fantastic, but the overuse of smoke pissed me off slightly at the start. I couldn't make out anything. Still, it was a great night, and it brought back great memories of the last time they played at the Barrowlands.

The Academy sucks as a venue, but I have to say that was the best ever Academy show I've been to!!!!!

come 4pm, we were let in for a soundcheck and signing. i finally managed to get my nothing records shirt by trent, who recognised me as "the girl who's always getting crushed at the uk shows...i'll see you a lot over the next few weeks!". once again, he's an awfully nice chap. josh also said that alex had moobs which was incredibly funny. (the echoingthesound meet up the day before was a success by the way - i spent a whopping £30, but considering how much i drank, that was excellent value for money - i hear alex has pics up on ets...)

the gig was awesome - along with other "never before played" songs on the tour, we got our first live hearing of the new song survivalism. besides steph, mike, and i, very few audience members knew the words. it was awesome. also, how fucking good is HMIAIH live?!

trent said that the crowd was much better than the manchester bunch, and aaron attempted to mount Alessandro's sample equipment. i think he realised what breaking that sort of stuff would cost him though, as he ended up just sitting on it.

yeah, the academy is quite shite, as were ladytron, dissapointingly

btw...my ticket was a floor ticket not a balcony ticket pics and vids coming soon.

Survivalism is so awesome surprisingly not that many knew the words.

He is a nice guy actually, and a big NIN fan, if I was in his position, i would do the same, I think you would to.

Hmm.. where I was standing ( a few from the front) I was blown away that EVERYONE around me new the words to Survivalism etc.. infact the opposite of what you say.

It was a good night however, I was one of the myspace winners so I got to watch the soundcheck and meet the band (what nice guys apart from Geordie as usual) I felt like a bastard getting the new band members to sign my fragile vinyl ha ha

Anyway, smoke aside (which I did not have aproblem with after seeing (or not seeing) APC last time , it was fantastic - a great setlist.

I also managed to catch a drumstick with my face which was quite funny =)

A particular highlight for me was seeing someone in the pit launch their hoodie into the air in obvious delight as the band kicked into one of the earlier tunes of the evening - maybe Last or WITT. Aforementioned hoodie became some sort of play-thing for the moshers after that, almost like some body-less crowd surfer.

I was slightly confused by TR's chat regarding the Manchester crowd, perhaps he felt that the city who gave him Joy Division and Take That let him down somewhat.

Great gig, though it should have been in the Barrowlands. Tonight I'm really hoping for Somewhat Damaged as an opener.

I was at the manchester gig from the night before and this was the first time i've been to a gig south of the border. It was pretty lame. So i don't think it was just hype. Gah wish i'd got tix to Glasgow, and i think the barras would be the perfect venue, far superior to the academy.

What an amazing two nights it was.

The only downside for me was missing the sound check, I showed up at the spiral line at 5.45 with my girlfriend. Ah well, there's always next time!

Amazing setlists both nights.
