A totally amazing show from top to bottom. The nails were on fire and killed everyone. Crowd seemed to be quite good with not too many knob heads ruining it for everyone.

Great set, band was on fire, can't wait to see what the future holds for the NIN touring line up...

EXCEPT for the girl who thought she'd sit on someone's shoulders right in the middle of the crowd during Hurt... otherwise was a top show!!

Trent did a whole lot of talking, which sickamongthepure recorded.

I managed to record the majority of Hurt at the end. Fucking security.

Was a fucking awesome show.

The keyboard solo at the end of Something I Can Never Have and the crazy electronic ending to The Great Destroyer were highlights.
Oh also that they played Down In It.

Also in case anyone missed the show, Trent said they'll be back ~mid next year, after recording the new album.

out of the 5 nin concerts ive seen in the past... this one topped them all.

1 complaint - i thought hurt was a little bland. bland as in he really did feel obligated to play it and seriously couldnt be fucked.

but the set list was so so so oh so good still cant believe they played something i can never have and down in it...rather shocking

Man tonights show was AWESOME!!! I was expecting bad sound and when I walked in during White Rose Movement I was like For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen that sounds TERRIBLE (and I like their music!) The sound was pretty good though except for the deep base being a bit rumbly when Jeordie was playing low notes and Josh was double kicking.

Good news on the stage setup - they bought their screen with them for Me, I'm Not, Great Destroyer, Eraser, Only and Hurt. The screen is the hanging one that looks a bit like a cage or fence.

The set was amazing!!! I don't have them in order but the songs they played are (I think this is all of them)

Trent was in a pretty good mood. A funny moment came during the first or second song when his mic wasn't working right so he just threw it into the crowd and grabbed another. I think two tambourines ended up in the audience.

Regarding the merhcandise, yes there were hoodies, two I think, both black. I think one had ART IS RESISTANCE on the front and on the back had a red AIR flag with NIN in it. I think the other had a sort of 80's style angular font with NINE INCH NAILS LIVE PERFORMANCE 2007 on the back or similar. The print on that was sort of beige.

T-shirts
There were either 7 or 8 t-shirts I think. 4 were definitely mens sizes and the others looked smaller for girls but none were like babydoll style. There were:

Black
- NIN on front in maroon, Pacific rim tour dates on back
- Survivalism shirt had a large pic on the front from the cover of the single. It's a security camera pic of the SWAT members from the video clip. NINE INCH NAILS was written above it and SURVIVALISM beneath.
I forget the details of the other ones. They seemed a little tame. Overall higher fabric than the ones at the [With_Teeth] shows in 2005.

Khaki
- Mens one has NINE INCH NAILS written across the chest in black. On the back it has the NIN logo and all the pacific rim tour cities and dates in a vertical rectangle. Very nice.
- Womens looked sort of similar but different on the back...I forget.

Anyway, there were a lot of clothing options. They had black baseball caps with Nine Inch Nails in white or silver across the front. Simple but nice. Also buttons and a couple of stickers including a sweet glow in the dark NIN logo one that was about 6 inches wide. Another sticker was like a black and white US flag but with really thin stripes. The top left corner said NINE INCH NAILS on three lines replacing the stars but was a sort of lame 80's rounded font so was not a great design IMO.

Prices were not too bad considering some I've seen. T's were $40, hoodies $75, caps $25, stickers and buttons $3.

Can't wait for tomorrow although I might not go right up the front again. I'm getting too old for this. :p But tonight was the best I've seen since 1995 at Alternative Nation for raw energy in the crowd. Big Top turned out to be nice and intimate, a lot better than I expected.

Trent said they are planning to come back here in the MIDDLE OF NEXT YEAR!!!!!! Wow.

Great show. Can't wait for the Hordern!!! Last chance to see the band in it's current form here!

This was all I managed to record, thanks to the asshole security.

I was just simply blown away... It was electric. The band was tight, the sound was right - you could hear the stereo mix! The show was slick. They really went all out to make up for the cancellation in May.

My favourite moment was during Survivalism, when Trent delivered one of the lines (... and found yourself believing your Lieeeesss) just like Saul Williams did in his Opal etc etc mix. I had a hearty appreciative chuckle.

Absolutely blew away the show I saw at the Hordern in 2005.

And another "Fuck You!" to the chick on the shoulders in the middle of the crowd down in front during Hurt. I paid to watch NIN not your scrawny pimply back.

I was parched halfway through and pretty well spent by THTF, but managed to make it through the whole show. Admittedly, this could have been because I was being held up by people - walking out, I felt a vague sense of surprise to discover that my knees kept giving way, thus thwarting my attempts at walking in a straight line.

The pick's a black (naturally) Dunlop, thin-ish gauge, with a fading NIN logo.

I'm sorely, sorely tempted to buy a ticket to tonight's gig but you know, struggling uni student, etc. Funnily enough, my broken toe is less of a concern.

The energy sounds really awesome. Got to love the way NIN present themselves. Hope to feel the same feelings tonight!

Made the trek up from Melbourne and was impressed with the pretty enthusiastic but un-meathead crowd. Cheers for that!

great set list, nice to hear closer and hurt (after he skipped them at all 3 melbourne shows in May) and loved Last, Down In It and Dead Souls. Great Destroyer was pretty cool, but the 'screaming slave' bit really had no impact.

He actually sung "this is the only time i feel alive" during the breakdown in closer

he added a bit to March of the Pigs, more or less saying that he is feeling better than the last time he was here, and thanks for coming back...

he spoke to the crowd for a while before and after The Good Soldier, thanking us for coming out and saying he recognized us all from last time. he said since then hes been to russia, china ("its full of chinses people"), korea, israel, hong kong and germany (which got a pop and a comment "we did all that in about a week").

he then started going through what each band member would be doing in the near future and to make sure we all checked it out. Sauls album is out monday apparently and theres upcoming stuff from Aaron (which trent said he hadnt heard, but had heard it sounds awesome), Alessandro and Jeordie. Josh will be back here in November with Devo. Trent asked if anyone has a futon for Josh to stay on so he didnt have to go home and then come back (he was pretty funny.)

this whole speech gave it a kinda goodbye feel, and showed a lot of love for the band hes got right now. it was awesome to see them 4 times this year i gotta say

and as previously mentioned theyl be back mid-next year touring the new album with whatever show "performance 2008" will entail...

after Good Soldier he said to make sure we steal his music, give it to our friends and make sure they come to the shows next year!

overall, a top night, good venue, great set (not as good as the Metro shows tho- where the hell is Capital G??), and a killer live band!

I wonder if he gave you an old pick. The ones they used last night were all yellow, green and blue as far as I could see. I was looking at all the mic stands before the show and all had the same sets of picks.

Anyway, fucking awesome show, I managed to start off one person back behind Jeordie, but somehow almost managed to die due to dehydration during only. That was weird. So I had to watch the rest of the show from the back. What more can I say that hasn't already been said? It was pretty damn awesome (though I think the second night at the Metro in May was better), but hopefully tonight will top it.

Great fucking show and all that's been said I would agree with, so i'll just add a couple of things that I found strange about last night.

1. Please don't take your partner with you and make out with them the entire night standing around/in the mosh pit... it became quite off putting, please get a hotel room.

2. To the cross dressed/transvestite/lady/man, it was very hard to tell. Could you please refrain from groping your breasts, grinding an imaginary pole, grinding guys who are trying to watch the show AND hitching up your skirt to do what the fuck ever it was you were doing during Me, I'm Not in the middle of the mosh.

Outside of those two things, fucking great night! I even made a mosh buddy, Ian the english bald guy with the goatee, it was great fun jumping around with ya, it made my bloody night! cheers mate

Last nights show was really something. I got the impression that Trent was really trying to make up for what happened in May. The band was in top form as usual (I have got to learn how to do that weird flip thing Aaron does with his guitar!) plus we got some cool visuals via the drop-down screen.

Highlights -

The Great Destroyer - I was never really a fan of the breakdown of this song but it sounds so unique live, they were getting some seriously low frequencies in there (I bet the residents across from Luna Park were not impressed!).

Sin - Pretty much a live staple I know but the whole crowd was in tune with this one which was nice.

The Day the World Went Away - Always been a favourite of mine and this is the first time I've got to see it live.

Eraser - This is one of my favourite live songs and is always a pleasure to experience. The screen was a nice accompaniment too. Visually it was a bit more understated than the BYIT's big movie curtain, but I actually liked it better this way.

Only - Because it has such a great groove to it!

Lowlights -

The crowd was more moron-heavy than the 05 show I was at, especially the cluster of metalheads right in front of trent. Plus that guy in the tool shirt (fucking typical) who was yelling shit out during something i can never have should do the world a favour and go die in a fire. "Jeordie loves Metallica don't you Jeordie...woo hoo!" Yeah good one fucktard.

And the guy in the PVC trenchcoat (seriously has that ever been a good look) who was headbanging like he was bobbing for apples completely ruined last for me. Headbanging doesn't require a 180 degree movement buddy!

Oh and the guy singing at the top of his lungs out of time and half the time with the wrong fucking lyrics almost copped an elbow in the face for his troubles. Thankfully someone told him to shut the hell up before it got to that point.

Now take those space cadets out of the crowd and it would have been a perfect night .

Well, just got back to Canberra after last nights show. Awesome, incredible, mind-blowing, best show I've ever seen. Well worth the wait after missing the show in May. My wife came with me (and she is _not_ a NIN fan) and she had a fantastic time - said they sound much better live.

We both loved the Big Top venue. I was kinda hoping it was going to get moved to the Hordern too, but I'm glad it wasn't. Intimate. Bar and lounge out the back; somewhere to go outside & get some air, upstairs & downstairs. Something for everybody. I saw security taking care of the brave souls in the mosh pit - and Trent kept shovelling bottles of water into the crowd. Though, security got a bit funny about cameras half way through the show and I had to hand mine in at the cloak room.

The crowd was great. No dickheads - everyone was just into the show. Loved all the costumes - especially the corsets and boots - the effort gone into some of the outfits is just mesmerizing . (If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm an old fart NIN fan - and I noticed quite a few other old farts at the gig too!)

The setlist was perfect - I had an epiphany somewhere around The Great Destroyer and Eraser. TGD live is something to behold - a total assault to the senses. And then they followed that with Wish, The Good Soldier, No You Don't and Suck - mind blowing.

All in all a brilliant show. Hope you guys have another good one tonight, and I'm looking forward to the new album and Sydney mid next year!!

A very good show. They finally brought a screen with them and I finally got to hear Eraser done live,.. Loved the mad electro noisefest stuff from Year Zero and it sounded great live- it was cool the way they cut Happiness in Slavery in with it the rest of the 'noise solo' during The Great Destroyer.

Trent was In a good mood and he actually did an encore- woo!

I had been a bit trepidatious about this gig after the last Luna Park show was so crap, but this really erased all those bad memories from my mind. The sound was clear, you could actually hear the keyboards, the guitars sounded like guitars instead of muddy fuzz, and there was a welcome return of the great atmosphere that I have become accustomed to at previous NIN shows.

Thank you so much for coming all the way back down here and putting on such a brilliant performance, Trent. I just wish I had been able to go to tomorrow nights show- It will be the first Sydney nails gig that I have ever missed

I wonder what all the mums and dads who'd brought their little 'uns to Luna Park for a night of G rated family fun thought of the crowd outside the Big Top? there was certainly an interesting parade of styles

i liked this show better out of the two in sydney because of the setlist. again, thanks for getting last and sin in there. trent nailed the lyrics to last.

it was another day of getting up before it was light out. karen, kaori and natsue, i dont know why you girls even bothered getting a hotel. i ran into schteph on the train on the way out to the venue which made things easy since i was in no mood for the rest of the weekend to bother navigating anywhere. arriving at the venue the queue was still outside of luna park and we werent let inside ths grounds until after 9am. the dickhead venue guy tells us that his friends will be let in first because he knows them. that strengthened the beginning of my hate for sydney this weekend.

it was cold outside because we were right by the water. once insde the park, it seemed like they wanted to hide the fact that there were rock fans there for hours on end by putting us on a patio type extension to the upper level of the venue. youd think we were all emos or something. this was good because 1. it was out of the wind. 2. it was in the shade.

the day went by pretty fast. and, i met another canadian at an aussie show! there were some good people there and there was lots of talk about the previous shows people had been to this year.
i started the spiral list of arrival order after ryan arrived with our harden the fuck up stationay. heh. i hate people that cut in line. this somehow made me an expert on the venue and entrance which was weird because im not, but created a lot of conversations.

the opening band was decent. im not running off to see them in melbourne on thursday but for half and hour they were fine. the first night i got the vibe that they sounded like dfa 1979 mixed with new order. i changed my mind the second night though.

knowing at the start of the show that this was the 3rd last performance from this line up of the band was a little sad. regardless, they were on fire. i love watching josh during hyperpower! no one else even needs to be on stage, heh. thats about the one time during the show you can actually see him though.

crowd was into it from the get go. missing the band in may for whatever reason of the shows getting postponed, made them hungry and loud. trent had eveyone with him by the "hey, hey" part of the TBOTE. first four songs were the same as israel, im glad i got to hear those in that order.

in may i wrote that i didnt need to hear closer at every show. i lied. im glad its back the setlist as more or less of a staple. it would have been nice if id been able to move during only, since this is such a dancing song. dead souls = nice.

somewhere in the middle of the show TR did some talking about being back in the city/ venue and the band members. what the others have going on with their projects and we can all see josh tour with devo in november.

at the start of down in it, mr north decided to do a stage lap gettting his guitar cord around jeordie, it looked like on purpose, making him try to untangle himself from it. it didnt work and the two of them got caught up together with aaron yanking jeordie to the other side of the stage. a hilarious tug or war ensued. they managed to knock over a mic stand and put todd to work so trent could sing again. jeordie gave up and rocked out to the end of the song on aarons side.

aaron had a sticker on his guitar during the beginning of head like a hole that "i heart cock" had been hand written on. possibly he didnt notice this for a minute because he ran around the stage for a while before peeling it off. is it trevor who has the sense of humour?

at the end of the "main set" everyone walked off and aaron still in the mood destruction smashing his guitar around a bit. then went over to the side and got some feedback with the metal chains and cord hanging from the rafting/ lighting rigs. then he smashed it on the ground some more.

TR came back out to start hurt, the crowd was not expecting this since HLAH had already been played. the screen came back down with the floaty lights for the beginning of the song. the rest of the band was hanging out in the wings until their part.

overall great show. the sound was a bit meh at some points, but from where i was standing its never the best anyway. feeling the bass isnt always a bad thing.

my great mood from the show was erased within a minute once i realized that someone had gone through my bag and selectively taken my phone and other stuff. the people on the barrier were so packed that whoever did it must have been a real fuckhead. my hate for sydney increased much more at this pont. it took almost an hour to leave the venue because of this. thanks to everyone who helped me to by letting me use their phones, and offering sweaty hugs. venue people were nice about it but not the most organized to be helpful.

sydney night one

There were so many idiots towards the front of at this show. They seemed to be more or less concentrated in the middle. Its a real shame that someone ripped off your phone solareyes. I hope the thoughtless asshole who did it gets whats coming to them.

I've found myself saying this about a lot of my favourite bands lately but why does NIN attract so many dickheads to their concerts?
