Just got back from it. The support act werent bad. Reminded me of the cure a fair bit. The screen for Eraser, me, im not and the great destroyer and only was great. I cant remember the full setlist but ill give it a go. (not in order)

opened with Hyperpower!
beginning of the end
terrible lie

closer
only
hurt
the hand that feeds
starfuckers inc

Bricklayer
You missed:-

Piggy
Reptile
The Good Soldier
March of the Pigs
Wish
Survivalism

Possibly others, couldn't be bothered thinkin bout it too much atm

Great show though. Trent had another little rant about the price of CDs in Australia asking us if the price of his CD had come down, then he told us all to steal it and give it to our friends.
Master Traveler
im super bad at remembering the order of setlists. but that concert was the fucking best, way better than last nights and the setlist was way more awesome =]

this time i was in front with my flag and i know trent saw it which is good. can anyone explain those stupid groupies inside the barricade?? they had like backstage passes or something but fuck they werent fans at all...

only had the best screen, trent looked very cool behind the mass of static in his white shirt.

they played reptile, i heard the opening parts of the song and started screaming "are you fucking serious? they're playing reptile" people never seem to know the opening music to songs... *shrug*

starfuckers inc. was amazing. in the "dont you" part trent started to sing softer and softer till you could here all the crowd singing not him... he laughed a little coz we all sound like crap and then went to screaming dont you himself

there was a lot of anti-god music tonight, and i felt an anti-manson vibe too...

did anyone see trenty accidently bang his head on the microphone during terrible lie??

lost of shit was thrown into the crowd... drink bottles, drum sticks, picks... weird metal from something...

majority of of the downward spiral was played 8 out of 14 of them.

not many people where i was were singing sadly...

and i must point out how fucking rude some security guards and spiral members are... both were on power trips throughout the show.

trent had a small chat to the crowd. from what i remember it went something like this "thank you! i can see alot of familiar faces here tonight... is there anyone here who wasnt at the big top last night?? well it's good too see you... i talked alot last night so im not gonna talk much tonight... it's funny i woke up this morning and i didnt know where the fuck i was... the last time i was here i was annoyed by how much CD's cost and complained about it.... somehow that spread all around the world and my record label hates me now... has the price gone down yet? okay, im seeing a no, a no, a no, a no and a no... has the price gone down anywhere?? ok well you know what that means?... steal it... steal the songs and give it to your friends then one day the assholes at the record companies will see and change the price... ok here we go.."

overall, FUCKING AWESOME show i was freaking out when he played hurt soooo early... but starfuckers was awesome live same with reptile =]
Bricklayer
I think both of you missed The Day The World Went Away
which was the best song played ;)
Bricklayer
Lot of dicks up the front tonight. Couldn't enjoy it like last night. After the screen came down for Me, I'm Not etc, I moved halfway back to the sound desk and enjoyed from there.

I don't have it in order but I'm pretty sure this was everything they played. This list is in halo order. They didn't play any obscure stuff tonight like they did last night. They focused a lot on The Downward Spiral - 1/3 of the setlist! Anyway....

Head Like a Hole
Terrible Lie

Wish
Gave Up

Piggy
Heresy
March of the Pigs
Closer
Ruiner
Eraser
Reptile
Hurt

The Day the World Went Away
The Frail//The Wretched
No, You Don't
StarFuckers Inc.

The Hand That Feeds
Only

HYPERPOWER!
The Beginning of the End
Survivalism
The Good Soldier
Me, I'm Not
The Great Destroyer

25 songs in total (counting The Frail and The Wretched separately) so one more than last night. Overall I enjoyed Luna Park slightly better but tonight was still great!
Master of the Ninth Arch
I just remembered reptile and survivalism. the brains fried now though. knew i wouldnt remember them all =]
Bricklayer
One thing that sucked is they took our tickets at the gate and I couldn't get one after the show. :( They were dropping them into small locked bins I think.

Also, the White Rose Movement didn't have the crappy sound tonight. Last night was so buzzy. Tonight was much better! :) A fair number of people watched them which was nice. Sometimes support acts play to a near empty floor. The crowd was pretty positive towards them even though they probably didn't know the songs.
Prince Adept
right now im quite drunk but i managed to record reptile in its entirety, along with trent's dialogue and TDTWWA, and some other crap.

will upload when i a, sober.
Bricklayer
oooh man, tonight felt far better to me than last night. whilst the band was really tight and compelling in both shows, the setlist tonight felt more dynamic. i still can't freaking believe we got ruiner!! i could hear ruiner being soundchecked before last night's show and hell am i glad they played it tonight!

the crowd was also good tonight, at least from where i was standing. no encore though, which may have had something to do with time constraints. all in all, an awesome set... nicely downward spiral heavy and the fragile was represented well. trent seemed a little more into it tonight.
Bricklayer
was awesome.

this was liek hte first time i've heard him speak at a show, apart from giving interviews and stuff. was loving it.

show was sweet, the great destroyer was awesome. starfuckers was the best, i didn't think they were going 2 play it

reptile was fukign sweet, along wiht ruiner.

though there was no burn or dead souls :(

Yeah, I wasn't having a great time either, glad it wasn't just me. Problem is when you're being crushed so much (a few people back from the front barricade) everyone around you gets pissed off, and it just feeds on itself. Moved back near the sound desk during Piggy and the sound was SO much clearer/better, wish I was there from the start.
Master ad Vitam
attempting to put the previous i in more of an order.. im not claiming this to be exact.

hyperpower!

head like a hole

the show was great, bittersweet since this is the last time most of us will see this line up of the band. overall the show was a little better than the first in sydney, even though i like the night 1 setlist more.

the lights looked a lot cleaer at hordern. lots of room on the sides of the stage to fill up with smoke. ;-)

the crowd at the front was bad, worse than big top, imo. too many people trying to push in, not surprising. i had people singing around mainly the girl screaming my right ear louder than the speakers. she only knoew the songs from the last two albums so everything from broken i could hear much better. heh.

photos & more when i get back to melbourne..

Plenty more to come.
wow, you were about half a meter to my right...

noteworthy also was the end of march of the pigs..the first time ive ever seen trent joke..if you could put it like that. he sang the end falsetto and for the 'better' he did it deep.
Troll
Also, and I'd take this with half a grain of salt, but I overheard a security guard talking to his friend who went to the show, and apparently the band went and - get this - smoked pot in their hotel room after the Luna Park show with some groupies.

:O ZOMG!
Knight of the Royal Axe
Piggy, Heresy, Ruiner and Frail/Wretched...colour me envious.
Bricklayer
at the end which hte logo was on the steel mesh...

felt excellent
Master of the Ninth Arch
I was a bit of a cranky bitch last night after the show... One of my friends managed to piss me off more in 2 days than she has in 10 years and I just wanted her to go away. She wouldn't leave my side so I went home instead of having drinks with everyone. But I'm at work today so it was probably good that I got some rest. Sorry to the people I was rude to.. but fuck it.

Other than that, I had a great time, fun hanging out with people doing the queue thing. Good to see so many familiar faces from May, and from 2005.. I guess I'll see you all in 200? when NIN next graces our shores (how literally should we take the statement TR made about coming back next year?!)...

I probably preferred the 1st night setlist, but overall the 2nd show was tops.. TR looked a little cranky but nothing new there I guess. I'm still adjusting to the chatting between songs, and the obligatory clap alongs.. But its all good..

I'll get the pics off my camera after work, and post them later..
Grand Pontiff
That was possibly the best setlist ever. So much better than Saturday night. The crowd was a lot more energetic, (there was a fair mosh during Only, which surprised me, and Starfuckers was insane), but there were also a lot more dickheads than at Luna Park.

The band was on fire, probably because the setlsit was full of high-energy songs. The Great Destroyer was way better tonight (though it didn't have the Happiness In Slavery samples in it). And it was fucking great to get Starfuckers , but the highlight of the night HAD to be Heresy. That was the song I was looking forward to most (except for WITT, but I figured we wouldn't be getting that), and it was so much better than I expected. I have no idea why it's not a live staple.

All in all, a fucking great show, it's a pity there were a few dicks in the crowd, but it was well worth it. Probably the best NIN gig I've seen.

I could not help myself. I enjoy reading about what the fans ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED at the shows...but nothing irks me more then a rumor starter. If that person was a true fan they would not have added that...my opinion. It's just plain ugly and mean in nature. So if I broke a rule to point that out, well, I guess then, I broke a rule.

Don't sweat it -- we can handle that sort of thing. As rumors go, this is hardly the worst I've heard. I don't think anyone really takes it at face value. We did not need someone posting a YouTube link in response to that -- that has nothing at all to do with the show you weren't at.

sweet videos right thar! security seemed a bit over the top with some people. Ruiner and heresy were the highlights for me.

:O ZOMG!
So?
Bricklayer
Was my 3rd NIN show and definitely was the best one ive seen. Highlights for me were Reptile, Star Fuckers and Terrible Lie. Holy shit they went absolutely nuts at the end of terrible lie.
I thought TDTHWWA was the only song that didnt sound great. When the second guitar bit kicked in it sounded way too high pitched and almost laughable.
I think Trent made it pretty clear that his voice was 100 percent by hitting some very high notes which was pretty cool.
Also i really hope NIN dont play any more Luna park shows when they come back, the Horden seems to suit them way better, i was so glad after the 1st luna park show i decided to buy a ticket to this show, the lighting at luna park was average compared to this one.
Bricklayer
also has anyone got the setlist in the correct order yet? Im pretty certain Terrible lie was 3rd
Master of the Ninth Arch
from what i remember and from what others have said:

Gave Up
Me, im not
The Great destroyer

Reptile
Good Soldier
The Day the world went away

some bits of this are a bit shaky, mainly between terrible lie and me, im not

EDIT: forgot to say i blagged one of Josh's drum sticks after the show. that made me very happy indeed :D

Im pretty sure it went

It was the best set list I have ever heard of NIN's, and by far the best concert of theirs I have witnessed on the four tours I have seen.

My sister had waited for over a decade to hear Ruiner live(and Last last night was the highlight of my live concert experience history), and was elated hen he played it finally. Starfuckers Inc, Piggy...it was just amazing.

The light show and stage effects were so great, and I thought they were much better at the Hodern than Luna Park. The venue made it better too for me, and my pictures turned out great, as did my video of Ruiner.
Bricklayer
Yeah I think it was:

HYPERPOWER!
Beginning of the End
and then Heresy and Terrible lie in a little anti-god pair.

I was surprised and happy to hear so many tracks from Spiral. I would have liked a couple more from With_Teeth. It was a pity we only got 2 each from Pretty Hate Machine and Broken but Saturday night had plenty more. Over the two nights we got a really good variety!

PHM: 5
Broken: 4
TDS: 8
TF: 5
[W_T]: 2
YZ: 6
Others: 2

Total: 32

Of course The Cure played 39 songs in just the first show last month. :P
Master of the Ninth Arch
My 7th NIN show and the best performance by NIN so far!

And yes, "heresy" came straight after "the beginning of the end".

Hope to write more later, when (if) I get a chance.

you fucking serious rofl oh man it was probably those ugly skanky groupies who stood to the left inside the barricade the whole show not singing or dancing... honestly how do these people get backstage passes??

I agree WITT is my fav. song and i was begging for it to be played after the wretched... i was like please please please but then the *do do do do dooo do do do* thing stopped and i was like dammit!!
Grand Pontiff
Just got back to Adelaide after seeing the show last night. I'm not in the spiral but I managed to get an okay spot off to the left. Next time I'm gonna have to try to get into the centre mosh because everyone around wasnt singing along or dancing around much at all, didn't stop me though (especially during Terrible Lie, No, You Don't and Starfuckers). And no one around me raised their hands in Wish when Trent says "fist fuck!!"... wtf?

This show was not only my first NIN show, but the first actual gig I've ever been to in my 21 years. Blown away by the sound quality and more importantly, the volume. I could feel my internal organs shaking around during Me, I'm Not.

Reptile of course was awesome, but we heard them playing that a few hours b4 the show so it didn't come as a surprise. I would've liked to have seen some Down In It, Burn or Last (why was there no Last!?!!? lol)

But yeah, overall it was awesome and probably worth the $1400 I spent to see NIN for 1 night.

i got really nervous during "Hurt", wondering when someone was gonna yell out stupid, and then JUST at the end of the second verse, someone ripped a fuckin massive burp hahaha.

"I will make you buuuuuurrrrppppppp"

Also, what was TR playing at the end of Piggy? Was it Fisher Price or Playskool?

It was definitely the most amazing performance. Sunday night shat all over there show in Auckland for the Big Day Out 2000. Totally in awe still. They played everything I would expect to hear, with a few surprises. Totally wrapped :)

Note: TR is so not as buff in person as he appears in photos.

Ok here is my bit for the shows:

The queuing was excellent there were some familiar faces from May (Jason, Liam, Spiraltards). Susan and Natsue from the UK dates and new faces too (Emma, Stu, Taryn, Kelly, boristheb, Ryan. lolz). Leeham defaced my shoes within the first hour so it really was just like May. The List was golden after all the first 20 are the ones that matter, thanks to Sarah for getting it started it seems you can learn from Pearl Jam fans. The Big Top is a good venue it just shouldn't be in an amusement park. Getting my ID checked twice to drink two overpriced beers ain't very rock.

The White Rose Movement were Ok, the lead singer was a little Crispin Glover I was waiting for him to tell Lorraine to get out of the car. Interesting that NIN has chosen(?) an OS support in May and now. Does the local scene lack innovation and talent? That's a discussion for another time...

Trent got all the lyrics to Last right and this was fucking awesome as I got them right this time too. The black glove thing though? Maybe it's because of my recent dentist visits but there really is something relatively disturbing about them a kind of Dentist of Death style or he's just been shopping in Kings Cross. One of the UK guys will be able to answer this but did we get Digitalism and Justice in the pre-show music in March? Why the fuck am I two months behind you music wise? (I'm seeing them both this weekend with MIA weeeeeeeeee)

The barrier was nasty at Luna Park and I wish I had bruises to post but I'm probably just bleeding internally. I had absolutely no energy for the first show and I was a bit disappointed with myself a 6:15am flight and going straight to the venue seemed to take its toll. Although I'm sure the band et al are way more fucking tired that I could comprehend. I also discovered what we will call fanboy3 possibly fangirl3's brother. Yeah I'm above average height, just because you're short and behind me doesn't mean that you get to hang off me like fucking Christmas decoration. Your screams of 'Fuck Yeah' in my ear were not appreciated. You need to go home and DIE. Thanks also for holding your phone out for whatever song it was and holding it in front of me too. You're a champion dick, I tolerated you because I want people to enjoy themselves and I was too tired to elbow.

We got TGD with the HIS breakdown at the first show which was jawdroppingly amazing. They could play the whole set in front of the screen it wouldn't bother me. Due to Meathead's [s]parody[/s] shitty Flash 'toon, I unfortunately thought about NINJAW and Jeananne and Jinsai and whatever else was in it. Trent did say that there were going to be back next year and they were going to record the new album after what I assume is Hawaii. He went through what each of the guys has currently got going. The lead tangle was amusing and deep down I thought it would have been fucking hilarious if they'd all ended up on their arses.

My 7am start for the Hordern was um exhilarating? The queuing was good not too much dumbfuckery going on. I got my Die. t-shirt too which was sweet thank you Megan you truly are the shiz. The Lady_K put up with a lot of shit from me, including some dancing and singing in NZ Icecream, I'm sorry your Mango Monkey was shit but as I said drinks with stupid names are always shit. We got Heresy AND Ruiner yayZORS, I would have like the Big Come Down but without Christo there it would have felt wrong.

THE DAY THE WORLD WENT AWAY was played both nights and this was probably the GREATEST end to it all. Its my favourite NIN song, its my first NIN song and Josh Freese's drumming in it is nothing short of orgasmic.

The mosh was a little wild the second night but the barrier was a much better height and I was barrier spooned lovingly by Megan. Massive props to Chris for pre-show Red Bull bringage too. We did move about a foot at one stage and one little greaser who was certainly not there at 7am squeezed in. We were instructed to steal YZ in American this time, I assume he meant the back catalogue too right? Funnily enough I still stand by the fact no one with a working frontal lobe actually buys music from Sanity/HMV. JB Hi Fi is usually the best option, although I think as a country we lack the focus to use our consumer power. Apathy just doesn't kill you, it makes you pay with monies.

I am interested about how the band feels about it all, it does feel like it coming to a close just as things were getting a nice rhythm. 2007 was definitely the year of NIN for me, I booked my Spiral tickets back in Nov 2006 for the UK shows and it feels like it hasn't ended. Starfuckers is the greatest song to text too as well, I wish I could get into it but I can't its crap I'm sorry. It's interesting that the lights are still red and blue for Gave Up a song that I've grown to appreciate. They've been red and blue since Fragility, I feel like I'm missing a deeper meaning behind the colours or maybe my attention to detail is overactive.

This post is falling into random bullshit blog musings. Solareyes and I were so in sync for these shows we met on the train to Luna Park AND on the Skybus at Melbourne! Weird. Someone asked me if G-Star was a NIN brand (WTF) at Luna Park I can't remember who it was but there is no room for naivety in the age of Wiki.

We never met up with the Bard which is a shame but I'm sure he had fun. Massive amounts of appreciation to Pheebs for not only providing me with accommodation and the best shower in Sydney but driving me around when it was far from necessary!!! My flight was delayed coming back to Melbs and I endured white trash hell as a Gold Coast flight was delayed too.

I wished Mafu, eatyurblud and naut had could have been there, but shit happens and you know he said next year……

Thanks to absolutely everyone who made Performance 2007 happen from Trent down to the wicked security at both shows.

Seriously though Hurt needs to go - HARDEN THE FUCK UP TRENT.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN AND JASON.

Now back to my life.

EDIT: I lost 5 kgs over the weekend too. Which is pretty retarded no wonder I feel like shit.

Wow, your pictures are amazing.

I'm too lazy to log in sorry.

Amazing shows. I think the second show pit was worse possibly because a lot of fans wanted to appreciate the show from the seats. I know the sound and lighting were amazing from back there. A lot in the pit were probably those kind of people who just show up for something to do on a sunday night.

Full review later. But thanks for comming back over Trent, especially with the production. We appreciate it.

I have some videos from the second show I will post probably tomorrow evening. Sound is ok and listenable, the video is distant but watchable, so some might appreciate it. The best is The Great Destroyer from the back.

I know, that was so shit, I was pretty pissed at the bitch that took my ticket. Got the one from the night before but it's not right when they take your stubs, everyone I know keeps their ticket stubs... even my dad!

Overall though, most amazing experience. I think next time NIN is in Oz I will have to fly everywhere to see them. The two Sydney shows were totally different to each other... so worthwhile (",)

for some reason they gave my ticket back to me but took everyone elses that i was with....weird!

At gigs where they take your ticket, I tell them I want to keep it. They will usually let me, or tell me tix will be available after the gig. Just speak up...
MikeyLiz
My GF and I got to keep out stubbs aswell. They just used a barcode reader thing, then handed it back to me. Maybe it had something to do with what tickets you had? So if you had tickets from the ORIGINAL dates, they took them, but if you had newly issued ones for the Hordern Show, they just scanned them? Not sure, just a guess.

Yes because they're the funniest thing I've seen anyone wear on stage for a long time.

Fantastic concert, on par with Tool earlier in the year. So glad I got to see Aaron North and co. one final time.

Yeah, that was a joke. Its because I had tickets to the show at Luna Park from May which unfortunately didn't have a barcode so they had to take it and dump it. I was upset as I keep tickets of every gig I go to and I got tickets 30 and 31 for this show. When they tried to take my girl's ticket, she pulled back :P That was a minor downer to an otherwise fantastic night. I mean, how can you go wrong with a setlist that has Heresy, Ruiner AND Reptile in it?!?
Bricklayer
I asked if I could keep my ticket and the damn girl wouldn't give it to me. GRR. I went back after the show looking for tickets to no avail. Oh well. I have the Luna Park one at least. I also have a poster for the Hordern show I cut off a power pole in my street a couple of weeks ago. It's SWEET!.

the last show in australia..

everyone who was early to get in line, was early to get in line. we were in an area that may have become the cloak room later on in the day and by late morning it was hot. time was passed initially by watching people going to the homeowners exhibition in the building next to the hordern stare as they passed by. and the many mercedes drive around to the back of fox studios for whatever was happening over on that side of the grounds.

john came out around noon to hand out spiral tickets and suggested to some venue staff that they/we move the line to beside the hordern because it was in the shade. the temperature must have been 10 degrees cooler in the shade. the venue people then set up rails near to where the entrance we would be going in later in the day.

a friend of mine showed up in the afternoon to visit. he had fun listening to the fanboy/ fangirl comments of a few people who were very excited at the possibility of meeting the band if we got in early.. since we didnt, it was done in vain, but good fun. my persuation skills are draining since i could not convince him to stay and go to the show.

the line and the people were all are pretty good the two days in sydney. if anyone reading this thinks that its worthless to line up all day, its really not. the people that you meet sitting in line all day become as much a memory of the show experience as the show performance itself.

the doors were left open for soundcheck and we could hear really clearly what was going on. some people were more excited that others to hear certain songs come out.

we got into the venue before 7pm. schteph, sickamongthepure and i sat down against the barrier for the next hour. a few others around us did the same thing. thanks to the lackeys who went to get us merch and water so we didnt have to move. the opening band was just that. i paid less attention to them the second night since i was really tired.

i had been wondering if the opener would change at this show and we'd get somewhat damaged or something else. i love hyperpower as the first song, how can anyone not like watching josh play that song.. but for the sake of hearing something else it would have been alright. before the lights when down, the tamborine stand went up on stage so it was going to be TBOTE when trent came out.

hyperpower--> TBOTE into heresy. nice way to start the show. the gloves came off after (during?) march of the pigs when TR grabbed his guitar. other people have written that the band looked like had more energy at the second show. i dont necessarily think thats true, but either way trent and aaron were all over the place in the first part of the set.

screen came down for MIN, TGD, eraser & only. i said it in another thread, but will say it again, the screen is really effective and the visuals are amazing. when they are out in front of the screen they look around at each other for visual clues of whats coming next. (okay trent doenst, but Alessandro and aaron do.) they look like they are having fun. this is probably the small part of the show where dry ice isnt hiding where people are.

the lighting/ visuals during eraser and only are great. the floating, singing head in the middle of a screen or "snow" or red light or a rainbow circle or something else is unique to anything else. the only other thing i can think to compare it to in terms of intensity and intricateness is mysterious ways on u2's stadium tour.. this was better because its on a much smaller scale. im glad they brought the full production on this tour and shipped the screen around with them. the chorus of only illuminates who is behind the screen, except for faces. then the screen goes up slowly towards the end of the song. i like that part for whatever reason.

there wasnt a whole lot of talking until the now infamous "steal it" speech. good on ya trent. if all the 13 year old kids stream their music from myspace, the industry has already lost them as consumers. why should anyone with taste be subjected to ridiculous prices to buy cds..

hurt moved up in the set from the night before. all the idiots kept their stupid comments to themselves. THTF, then starfuckers which had everyone buzzing when it was soundchecked. HLAH closed it off. aaron's guitar stopped working so he threw it into the monitor and just sang most of rest of the song. at the end, they walked off and the screen with NIN came down. and that was all..

security did a decent job.. it was the same people both nights and either they were sick of being there or tired, i felt they were better the first night. at least they were good about giving out water.. and spilling it everywhere. we had some misinformed people behind us, one guy who felt the need to narrate what was going on, and usually he was wrong. there werent that many crowd surfers and we were really packed in at the front.

even if its only a few songs per show, its great that the lighting etc. is flexible enough for the setlist to change. i know we are all aware that bands who put a lot less effort into production have a static show the entire tour. trent could sit up there with his acoustic guitar in the dark and it would still be great. (next year?!)

I took a few clips from the show using my crappy digital camera and threw them all together if anyone is interested. Sound isn't too bad, though extremely muffled. At least the bass isn't distorted.

I probably should have mentioned that the video is very shaky at first due to all the moshing but it gets better as the clip goes on, as I move further away from the front of the pit.
