In this twilight

Got there around 3 pm. Maybe only 15-20 people in front of me. They finally let us get our presale tickets about 5:20 or so. Maybe even later. I guess sound check ran late or something. Anyway, I got to the top of the stairs and we were the first in line for concourse level. Everyone else in front was goin for rail. Got dead center, front row tickets and I was head on with Trent. Amazing view. It was pretty close as well.

I LOVED THE SHOW. I have seen NIN 3 other times, and this has to be my favorite. I've recently gotten into "Head Down" and that live was terrific. I was kind of disappointed that the Frail didn't go into The Wretched, but I can live it with. The video screens were AWESOME. I am so glad I didn't watch many, if any videos on youtube. Nothing would do it justice. Only was probably my favorite use of the screens. Also when it made the band look like they were standing in the middle of a white ring of "flames."

It was great after reading those 4-5 pages of photoblog that got locked, that Trent enjoyed us as an audience. He told us that they really needed this and that they were having a lot of fun. That was great to hear.

I can't really think of anything else, except I felt bad my gf wasn't having the greatest time. She enjoyed it, but she was tired as fuck from working at 5 am and no naps. She has to work at 5 am tomorrow too :( Oh, and I can't stand the shirt prices. I realize there's not a lot of control over them, but damn. Oh, and I also loved the light tech. The guy could bust a move... through the whole concert. Pretty sure I am going to learn how to hold on to something and groove the way he does. It must seriously be a ton of fun to have something like that as your job. I was jealous throughout the entire show.

A few pics I took with my iPhone (I refuse to buy a point and shoot when I can't bring my DSLR to things like this, even though they'd make for some FANTASTIC photos... oh well).

Boris (which their first few songs were pretty cool, then they kind of lost me)

Just got home. I went into the show sick so needless to say my throat is beyond shot right now. Great effing show. My girlfriend came with who isn't really a fan and she had tons of fun and danced her ass off. I think I might have a new convert. :D

We were on the left side of the stage for the most of the show, varying between 1-4 people from the rail throughout. Super tired so nothing too super to report but...

1- I got a JMJ pick, whoo!
2- Saw a shooting star on the way home. Awesome.

GOODNIGHT EVERYBODY YEAH!
Master of the Ninth Arch
It's getting late now, just thought I'd post some of my pictures from the show. The only thing I'll say real quick about the show is that the last song that Boris played ("Untitled" I think it is), was an over fifteen minute song that should've been only three minutes. Made Boris sound like Bore-Us. I did like the song were the girl (at least I think it was a girl, it definitely sounded like one) sung.

I also have some video from the show, although my since I lost my new camera I was forced to use my old piece of crap one which will automatically stop recording if things look too dark-so when I upload some of the videos it might suddenly jump ahead to when I started the thing recording again. I did manage to capture that little "moment" in March of the Pigs and also I took some video of the tech guy doing his thing during Head Like a Hole. I'll probably upload some of them later this afternoon.

I did noise reduction, color correction, and cropping in Photoshop CS3-just a way of spending some of the excess energy I've got left from being at the show.

I'll post more about my experience tomorrow, and maybe a few more pictures or something. I think I'll be going to sleep soon.

Just remembered, did anyone else hear the asshole who yelled something like "Hurt sucks!"?

I got to the venue about 5:30 got my presale tix and stood in line until 6:30 when they let us in. I was really happy with how the getting the presale tix and getting in went. Very straight forward.

I was front row concourse about 2 sections to mech's left I'm guessing. Great spot to catch all the visuals. I was not impressed with Boris. I assume they were singing in Japanese?? No idea as I couldn't make out a thing except for the drummer yelling "Woo" at random times.

I had seen recordings of the shows from the LITS tour, but they don't do it justice. I was amazed at the light show. When Trent and co. were behind the front LED curtain filled with static that would clear around Trent wherever he went so you could only see him (don't remember the song). And the lights during Only were awesome! This had to be the best NIN show I've seen.

I heard the guys yelling during Hurt, couldn't really make out what they were saying. I just kept thinking "Don't get pissed Trent, don't get pissed and leave".

Wish I would have know they were letting in cameras as I could have brought my digital camera in and gotten some great pics. I really want a high quality of the screen with the NIN logo just before the encore. So cool!

I wasn't that impressed with Boris either. Their ending note lasted probably 6-7 minutes. The drummer was kind of cool climbing on his bass drum and hitting the gong.

The static you are thinking of was during Only. I am guessing that is what you meant anyway, when he would whisper and the screen in front of him would clear for a second. I loved that effect as well.

I too was impressed with the Presale. It was nice getting in before the masses. However, the jackass security guard up at the top of the stairs tried forming a "second" line that just happened start head on with me (when I was at the front of the original line). I didn't really stand for this so I kept inching myself forward. I got great seats anyway. I couldn't have been happier. I am glad you liked your seats as well.

Thank you Trent!!

I Had a BLAST last night. Luckly met up with some ladies off the nin.com forums that watched my back incase the baby wanted to make a appearance for Trent. (thanks wch, SmartnSekc, not sure of the other gals SN)

We were Section 16 on Robins side, fucking fantastic show from a seat point of view although I did have major floor envy! Glad we gave Trent and the boys the response they wanted.

Most of my pics turned out like shit, and I'm to impatient to figure out how to post em here LOL
Master Traveler
At my hotel in Cedar Rapids, will be heading back to Minneapolis soon. I wish I was going to Columbia tonight but I can't miss anymore work. The show was great! I was on the rail right in front of Robin, I got some great pics but I'll have to post them once I get done with work late tonight. Security took a pic of the set list for me so I'll post that as well.
Master of the Ninth Arch
I know you aren't supposed to ask for a recording this early, so I won't. But I will say I would love you forever if you recorded the show last night. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a NIN DVD from this tour. The light show is epic!

Wasn't it a plate they were holding up? Not a shirt?

And The Frail came right before Closer. Head Down was before The Frail. I remember because I was hoping to get The Wretched.

Yes his setlist is actually not more accurate :) No offense, but I was writing the songs down in my iPhone as they were being played. I just don't have an idea about which ghosts, but I know Ghosts Piggy was played last. In addition to NINrocks, I also think Hurt was right before In This Twilight, not God Given.

Yes, it was a plate. And the plate said "I want to Sex You."

Thanks for the confirmation. Glad to see you enjoyed the show. I looked for you in line, but I saw your post while I was in line and saw several people with the WT hoodie, but I think i was too early for you to have gotten there already.

I do appreciate you knowing which Ghosts songs they were though, George :)

WOW
Got to the hotel about 2, took a nice lil nap, got ready went down, had to stand in line maybe 10 minutes to get my presales, then hung out on the stairs...

My girlfriend ( who i might add was wearing the smallest possible skirt ever and a nice tiny little nin tank, and was covered in tats, and piercings, anyone see her? phew) and i were rite around 3rd row center for the first half of the show,(lots of smashing..... LOVED IT) For the last half we backed up about 10 rows. Did anyone see me lol would be awsome if i was by some of you and didnt even know it

Loved all the visuals, was the best concert i personally have seen NIN play, My gf and i are hurting today for sure. Except for a couple assholes, most of the crowd was nice. Hmmm i remember a girl with white hair and pink tips, and this other chic, she was a bit bigger, was just going off cause she was getting pushed around , and the show hadnt even started yet.... not to sure what happend to her. but she was cussing up a storm and yelling at everyone.

Oh yea was rite in front of the girl who had the sign that trent commented on in the lil break rite after March of the Pigs. It said, "Trent I want to sex you" and her phone number hee hee, hope i wasnt the one with the beard he thought might be holding it up LOL,

anyone else catch the stripper show of to the right of the stage first balcony? lol

Had a blast, you guys rock

also thanks to everyone posting the pics, i was a dumb ass and didnt check my cam battery before i got in, i managed to get one picture of my girl

I saw you and your girl waiting in line. I noticed because that was one of the shortest skirts I had seen on a girl. ;) We were waiting in line to go upstairs when I saw you too. I also saw the girl with the pink tips waiting in line just in front of you. She had a Hogwarts coat on that a couple people around me commented on.

Prciousangels those are some sweet pics. I'll have to save those as a "souvenir"
Master of the Ninth Arch
I've finally compiled all my video clips, I just need to assemble them in Windows Movie maker and upload them to YouTube. Some are in different parts (they will be uploaded as one video, though) because my camera is stupid and has what I'm guessing is a "safety feature" where it automatically stops recording if things get too dark. This made songs like "Vessel" all but impossible to record since everything is pitch black between the ripples during the verses. I also had other technical difficulties such as needing to replace the batteries or having to zoom in, which required me to stop recording and do that since I can't record and zoom at the same time.

Hopefully, I'll find my newer, much better digital camera before the Minneapolis show so I can get some much better footage. Also note that because my camera only accepts up to 1 (maybe 2, but I haven't tried that) GB cards, I choose to record at 320x240 resolution, this may have also saved some battery life in addition to disc space.

Also note that I may not upload all the stuff I recorded. The preview screen has been messed up ever since I went to a Blue Man Group concert at Wells Fargo-it's like all blown out and overexposed so most of the time I can't see what it's filming/taking a picture of unless I'm looking through the view finder. Also, I wanted to enjoy the show through my own eyes. Hence half the time the camera's pointed in the wrong direction.

It was cool though that the security guy let me take the camera in-even though there were signs all over the place saying they weren't allowed.

List of Songs I have video of (In alphabetical order):

1,000,000 (two parts)
Closer (two parts)
Discipline
Echoplex (incomplete, two parts)
Gave Up (incomplete)
Ghosts 19 (Clip)
Ghosts Piggy
Head Like a Hole (Clip of Head Banging Tech Dude)
In This Twilight (three parts)
March of the Pigs (two parts)
Only (two parts)
Pinion (part of it)
Survivalism (incomplete, two parts)
Terrible Lie (two parts)
The Big Come Down (two parts)
The Good Soldier (EIGHT PARTS!)
The Warning (three parts)
Vessel (short clip-from the chorus where the ripple effect is inverted so that my camera actually sees that something is going on)

A little more on my actual experience. I went with my friend who can drive (I never managed to get a license-mainly because the Driver's Ed teacher wasn't trained to deal with people with ADHD and Asberger's Syndrome), and it was about a two hour or so trip from Ames to Cedar Rapids, I made a couple compilation CDs of NIN songs to listen to on the way there and on the way back. My friend is more into the older stuff from PHM and TDS which he was into in middle school and he hasn't listened to even their old stuff recently, so he's not exactly a "fan" per say, but he likes the band alright. I think I may have converted him into an actual fan though with this concert.

I haven't been to many concerts in my life PERIOD (the only secular ones I think were Linkin Park in Council Bluffs in 2003 and Blue Man Group at Wells Fargo last year), so I didn't realize how much time it would take them to get set up after the opening act, or how much time it would take them to set up the equipment for The Warning. That's one of the things they cut out from live DVDs-and I suppose I should be glad they do that-it just spoils me, though.

As I think I said before, the last song Boris played was longer than it should've been-although the original song is actually that long (perhaps slightly shorter). I was thinking that after the Drummer left the stage, he would come back and be like "Hey guys, I think they want us to leave now"-that would've at least added something amusing to it. I did cheer at the end, but only in thanks for them finally ending the song-and because they put up a good effort and weren't entirely terrible most of the time.

My friend was sitting down most of the show, and I don't think I actually stood up myself until "March of the Pigs", when I thought he'd be getting up too. I guess that was his preference. Occasionally, I had to explain to him what the title of a song was and such things. He did tell me he enjoyed the show, I guess he just didn't feel like standing and was content to remain seated.

The visuals were of course awesome, we had pretty good seats for viewing the show even though we got there a bit after 6pm and didn't have pre-sale tickets. It was good for viewing the show but not so much for photography. If I had found my newer camera I could've used it's 5x zoom to get better footage and closer views on Trent and the band. I don't think it'll make much difference if I do find it for the MN show since I'll be seated even further back from the stage-still I'll be able to use better memory cards and it probably won't stop recording in the middle of a song due to perceived blackness-plus I think it works better for low light situations than my old one as well.

Yeah I think that's all I can think to mention about the experience-quite a long little description I guess but I just thought I'd share. Oh yeah, and my friend shaved off his "lumberjack beard" that I think I mentioned in the upcoming show thread for this.

Anyway, I'll probably post again when I've got more of the pictures and the videos ready to show.

Yeah I saw the skirt too. However, we wondered if you guys knew it was below freezing temps?? I know it gets warm in the venue, but damn! Not exactly winter clothing :P Oh, and we were in line right behind the hogwart's girl in the presale line.

Prciousangels, of course you can save it! I don't mind at all.
Master of the Ninth Arch
First two videos, I'm starting with short clips from the show and working my way up to some of the full songs. These are a coupe of funny moments from the show:

Paper Plate Comment - March of the Pigs

Head Banging Tech Dude - Head Like a Hole

I had to enhance the second one a little so you could actually see the guy-even then you can only barely see him.

The plate comment:

"Somebody's holding a plate up that says 'Trent, I want to sex you'. I can't tell if it's a dude, a chick, or what the fuck. Take my chances? I think I see a beard."

I think he may have said "Fuck it!" after that, but the music gets too loud in the video so I can't hear what he's saying if he's saying anything.

Update:

Some full songs:

Discipline
March of the Pigs
Ghosts Piggy
1,000,000
Closer
The Big Come Down

More coming soon!

I should mention that while I do have video of "Only", the camera seems to be really obsessed with filming the area above the stage as opposed to the stage itself.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Yeah we knew it was cold, but didnt have to go outside, we had a room on the top floor.

Id like to post the pic of her um bending over to tie her shoes in that skirt, but she is now looking at me like i just killed her dog and im thinking its prob not such a good idea now, oh god im in trouble

Question for those of you posting pictures: Are the pictures you posted the highest quality of them you have or did you shrink them down when you posted them? I ask because I plan to save them all off and would like the highest quality versions of them if possible. Also, I would really love a high quality shot of the NIN logo just before the encore.

I do thank all of you for taking pictures, its a great way to re-live the show.
Master Traveler
OH DJ I love you! The two things I'd have recorded had I had the capibility the plate comment and The big comedown! I was singing to hard to even watch it being played.

Nin0thing, Your girl has some balls! Let her know I said that too. 1 for the fact I froze my ass off and I had pants 2 tees and a sweatshirt on. 2 not fearing getting hands stuck up that lil skirt. She can pull it off though. <---compliment coming from another woman :)

I was at the top of the landing for the concourse seating wearing the Michigan sweatshirt doing the potty dance cause the damn security wouldn't let me use the restroom even though I told him I was 8 months pregnant. Bastard

I didn't nothing but put mine on photobucket...probably why they are fucking huge! I have one other one but it was at max range so looks pretty small.

I'll upload full quality versions of most of the pictures I posted in the near future-that's the beauty of having my own website, no image size restrictions. Of course I did resize them to post them on the forums since otherwise they'd really stretch the window out.

I've got several REALLY good pictures of the NIN logo, they'd probably make good desktop wallpaper too. I'll try to upload those the soonest.

I'm working on uploading some of the incomplete stuff now like Survivalism and Echoplex.

Here's the new ones that have been processed so far:

The Good Soldier
During this one my camera stopped recording seven times so it skips around a lot, and at the end my camera sorta drifted into a corner.

Terrible Lie
I guess I started a little late-near the end of the first verse.

Echoplex Clips
Josh doing his Vanna White thing.

Vessel & Ghosts 19 Clips

The Warning
Finally all uploaded, processed, and it the proper order! This time I swear!! Apprently, I named all the clips in reverse so part 1 was really part 3 and vice versa.

Gave Up (Incomplete)
Most of the song is there, though, up until the finale part.

Survivalism (Incomplete)
A lot of the song is there, but not all of it, plus the camera tends to drift again.

Master of the Ninth Arch
I saw NIN earlier this tour at Lollapalooza in Chicago and was absolutely FLOORED by the show. The production put together for this tour is beyond anything I have ever seen or imagined for a concert. In fact, for a while now, I haven't been classifying NIN performances as concerts anymore, but experiences. This tour blows it all out of the water. So when an old friend called me with a ticket, I didn't hesitate to snatch it up. And it was a floor ticket.

We pulled out of the Chicago NW burbs late thursday morning and did a little geocaching along the way. We checked into our hotel about 315 and decided to go check out the venue. We rolled past and didn't see any outside line so we hit Wendy's down the street hoping it wouldn't be too crazy when we got back. We parked for $5 in the garage (which is amazing since that would buy you about 6 minutes in Chicago) and headed into the venue. There were about 50-70 people in line and we chatted with a couple who had seen the St Louis show. The line eventually started moving and we got our tickets and were herded onto the "holding stairs." We walked onto the floor, as we were STRONGLY advised to do and I was amazed at how small this venue actually was. Then I looked at where I really was: on the RAIL. Sweet! Though it was my 8th show, it was my first rail for the most amazing yet of Trent's brainchilds of visual and audio presentation.

I would like to give big props to the security staff at US Cellular. Those guys were awesome. They laid down ground rules ahead of the show, but their last one was to "be sure to have fun." They poured water in our mouths throughout the show, kept our jackets on the other side of the rail, moved out of the way for pictures, and grabbed the assholes out of the crowd who wanted to kick a little too much ass. Excellent staff.

Overall, the "push" towards the stage wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. But around when Only came on, I had found that my back was in an orientation that wasn't being consciously controlled by me. So I backed off to the second row. I won't get too much into talking about the show as we all know how amazing this tour has been. Trent's vocals were great, (his voice was sore at Lolla) and the performance was wonderful. An awesome set of new and old, rock your face off tracks and mellow tracks and a wonderful progression through the NIN catalogue.

I am saddened by how many people out there think of NIN as the "fuck you like and animal" or "he doesn't like George W" band, yet have not heard the amzing works that don't get radio play like Ghosts and Still and so many others. Their loss. Anyways, here's a few pics that turned out.

All I have to say is IOWA ROCKS!!!
Even when I go play there you guys are awesome.

Even though I left after work to go to this show, and left the show to go back to work I still enjoyed it.
I would say out of Lallapolooza, Detroit, Denver, Grand Rapids and Cedar Rapids this was the second best show. Great preformace from NIN and Great Audience.

Got some video that the woman took and more to come......

chaonatic is busy with the Las Vegas showing planning so I'm hoping that's why he hasn't responded to our request. Hopefully after Friday we'll hear back from him and if he's willing to share.

(fingers crossed)

I really hope he decides to make a torrent! Those videos are amazing! Would love to actually have some to document one of the NIN shows I have been to (besides Lolla)! Seems the shows I go to never get recorded!
