I want to say this is from "The Warning" but could be mistaken:

Killer show! Much better than Knoxville. I don't have any setlist info, but can share that "The Wretched," "The Big Comedown," (edit for clarity and lack of sleep) "Reptile," and "Down In It" were played.

Oh yeah, thanks to the spiral tambourine club for letting me chill at their table.

More eloquent thoughts and better pics to come once I get a decent night's sleep.

Well, I won't even bother with a setlist, since I didn't write anything down and after the Ghosts section everything was a blur, but let me say this; if you do not already have tickets, YOU MUST GET THEM NOW. This is simply an incredible experience. My 6th NIN show since 2000, and by far my favorite. I was in Section 106 (second section back from the stage on the right side), 5 rows back from the floor, and the seats were absolutely perfect. I always get GA tix, so I figured I'd try for seats, and in my opinion, it's worth it simply for the visuals. The sound mix was fantastic, and as you can see I really have nothing but great things to say about this show.

There are still some hangups with the light show. A section of the swinging lights during The Big Come Down weren't working; the first chorus of The Wretched didn't have the correct visuals (I believe); a section of the screen during one of the Ghosts songs was a rainbow of colored pixels, until a tech came out and tightened something; but the show they put on is so above and beyond anything else I've ever seen that none of this bothered me one bit. And I also got to experience first hand Jason the lighting tech. That guy rocks.

Of course there were plenty of D-bags double fisting beers and shouting during the Ghosts songs, and of course Hurt, but overall the people around me were ok. They did lose some of the crowd during the Ghosts portion, but the people that were into it were really, really into it. It was like they were walking the line between rock and art, where casual fans get antsy and start thinking "when they gonna play that 'fuck you like an animal' song?" This chick behind me sang (well out of key) for a good deal of the show, and screamed like a little girl every single time they played a song or threw something into the crowd. "OH MY GAWD I LOVE THIS SONG OH GOD OH GOOODDDD!!!!" *Water bottle gets thrown from stage to OTHER side of arena, roughly 200 feet away* "OH MY GOD DID YOU SEE THAT!?! OH GOD WATER BOTTLES!!!" But hey, she had a blast, so all the more to her. Although someone had some massive beer farts for the entire show near me, and it was just awful to smell that...

I apologize for lack of "exciting, new" information, but it was truly an amazing show and I really appreciate what Trent and the gang have gone at lengths to put together for us. Sorry I don't have a setlist for you guys.

Well, it was obvious his voice wasn't 100%, on songs like In This Twilight he stayed away from the high notes. He did take a few moments near the end of the show to introduce the band, and when he said Robin Finck it came out like R-obin Fi*crackle*nck. He laughed it off and was like "did you like that Robin?" or something of that sort. So, it was still pretty noticeable but he seemed in good spirits and like he was enjoying the performance. If that helps at all... Good luck to you!

*I say it was noticeable, but it did not degrade from the performance AT ALL. That man sang his ass off, he was just careful around some notes.

I'm currently writing my review at the moment but here's a few tidbits.

Despite the seat that I was sitting at around the right side of the stage and watching from the right, which was annoying. Though I did get to move around a bit.

I had a great time. I loved Deerhunter and I've managed to recognize about 5-6 of the eight songs they played. I loved the finale.

NIN, as usual, delivered 111%. This is easily, the best line-up and I was glad Trent gave kudos to the band. I do have a few questions. What was played just before the YZ set and any idea on the entire Ghosts set aside from Piggy and 19 Ghosts III?

Also, what in the hell were Cortini and Finck playing in the YZ set? I couldn't see very since I was sitting on the right side of the stage.

I'm glad Trent didn't hit the high notes as much. He still delivered vocally.

I think the Ghosts set was 6 Ghosts I, 28 Ghosts IV, and 19 Ghosts III, and then later was 31 Ghosts IV. I'm not positive about 6 Ghosts I, though.

It think they had the big "first finale" with Gave Up, and then it was black for awhile while they setup for the front of the stage, and then The Warning.

Solid show, mediocore crowd, and sadly lots of empty seats. There were also way too many old lame people that obviously hadn't listened to NIN since 1994 and that killed the collective vibe during the new stuff. Highlights included Head Down, which just dominates live, the newer, more aggressive version of Reptile, the gun and cross projection during God Given, and the best performance of Terrible Lie I have ever seen. Survivalism also kicked a lot more ass than I expected it to in a live setting.

The screens and projections and bells and whistles were all awesome but it seemed like the show was at its best when those things were not used. The performance was so amazing and all the eye candy distracted me from watching the band at times. Some video is good -- I still miss The Fragility screens! -- but there was so much emphasis on the visual to the point where the band was in the shadows perhaps one time too many. As for the Ghosts tracks, four were played, don't ask me which. The first two did not get the crowd going at all and it sounded like there were quite a few band messups. The last two were awesome but there was still not much crowd reaction -- and these were two harder songs, not softies. Going by this show alone, I'd have to say the Ghosts tracks are not going over well live, which is depressing. I love the concept. Perhaps the band should be more noticeable during this segment.

Deerhunter came out late and wasn't too bad, but it seemed like everyone around me slept through their set. Does the bassist always dress like a cheerleader, or was that a one time joke?

NIN was out for about two hours, and they finished with "In This Twilight" once again. Was it me, or were the lyrics to the final chorus to this song changed from the album version?

Best NIN show I have seen since 2000 in Chicago. Trent still has it. Can't wait to see him again.

But where the hell was everybody?

What an awesome show!! Light years better than Knoxville, although I wasn't in General Admission. I had the "reserved seating" at stage left which pretty much sucked so I snuck to the back of the arena for a good view of the light show, which as has been mentioned was phenomenal. It seemed like there were a few people around me who were into the show but of course there's always the sitters whom I just don't get. Not really any assholes that I noticed (a complete reversal from last night) and overall it seemed like most of the crowd was having a blast. Anyway, I just got home so I gotta sleep. I'll post some pictures tomorrow!!

P.S. Reptile owned the night...

This was my fourth NIN show, and the first to which I had general admission tickets. I was able to be right up from the entire time, and even though I got squashed, it was the best concert I have ever been to.

Trent was in full form, running around like a crazed monkey half the time. He was covered in sweat. I can't believe a 43 year old man can have that much energy. His voice was definitely not 100%, but it was still fantastic. The band sounded great. I loved the version of Piggy they did; was that a mandolin Robin was playing? And Justin had a big upright bass.

Great great great. Having now been only 10 feet away from Trent Reznor and able to get the real NIN concert experience, I can die happy.

The only thing that sucks about being up close, aside from the people who simply MUST mosh and the tall assholes who refuse to move so shorter people can see, is that you don't get to see the full effect of the lighting and screen stuff.

Who else thought "Only"'s stage effects were cool as hell?

I was glad and surprised that they didn't play The Hand That Feeds. I'm getting tired of that song. 21 Ghosts III sounded great, and Reptile was phenomenal.

I'm surprised and happy to see that quite a few songs that didn't quite do it for me on the album, I fell in love with after seeing live. And Reptile was tits, if I do say so myself.

That concert fucking rocked just as hard as I imagined. Fantastic set full of quite a few surprises too. The Wretched, Reptile, Ghost 21, Only, Big Comedown, and Survivalism were some of the highlights.

Section 107 Row C was just fantastic.

My first NIN show ever, and my first concert period. Needless to say, I was blown away. Had to catch the guy next to me during Gave Up, but it was all okay.

The Wretched, Down In It, and Reptile were real treats and the visuals on the Ghosts stuff were amazing. The whole fucking thing was amazing.

Sung to every song, and rocked out. :3 Best experience ever. Four months of anticipation and worry rewarded.

No complaints, no worries. Didn't even notice the crowd except for the occasional crowd surfer down in the pit to laugh at.

Deerhunter has potential, but they really need to cut down the levels on their equipment, they were vibrating my ribcage. XD

So frigging excellent!!!

We normally go for rail, but since you can't get the full effect of the light show, we decided to hang out by the soundboard and create an "old people pogo jumping area"

If you're seeing more than one show, and always go for the rail....seriously consider kicking back for one of your shows to see the lights. It was fantastic. The sound was a hell of a lot better than Knoxville.
Couldn't tell you a damn thing about the people around me because I don't tend to give a crap what other people are doing during a show.

We however, danced our old people asses off and had a great time, best NIN show I've seen yet!!!

PS..Dan The Man pointed out the camera behind us and sure enough, during Survivalism we were on camera acting like goobers.

Great time! Can't wait to do it again next week!!!

Oh, and Deerhunter! They sounded great last night. I didn't have anything positive to say about them after the Knoxville show, but last night it was like a completely different band was playing!

Long rambling post alert.

Awesome show!!! I was a few rows from the barrier. I came in kind of hesitant about Deerhunter but they were really good, but the weed contact may have helped things. At a few times the lead singer went on playing with this constant evil grin on his face and we were like what the fuck is he smiling at?!? Sorry no pics for this one. Reznor and co were on fire. This was easily one of the best shows Ive seen. Great venue, cool security, they looked out for floor folks, great crowd they pretty much looked out for each other. The only thing that sucks is that I noticed the seating section in the back of the venue was pretty much empty. I hope the other arena venues fill in more folks because even though theatre size ones are cool, Im sure its hard to maintain a production of that size.

I dont know where the other guy was at that posted about some chick going apeshit like every two minutes, but sorry if that pertained to me, they were pulling everything out of their hat last night. I finally saw God Given--that's where the gun/cross pic came from I was looking for. Everyone else pretty much said everything, highlights were Warning, Reptile, DII, Only, and fucking Head Down. What lacked for crowd size, the floor at least where I was at had plenty of energy even though there were some goofballs deliberately starting a mosh pit during some ghosts songs. At one point during hurt some guys constantly went on about their high school coaches in Alpharetta and do they know so and so who graduated in '88--shut the fuck up!! Did anyone hear the guy trying pass everyone up for a front spot so he could get to his "pregnant girlfriend."

Trent spoke a little near the end, mainly to introduce everyone, said something along the lines that he got Robin back. He announced JMJ who stayed back a bit and Trent was like step up to the mike, dont be shy! Overall awesome time.

Im sure it was mentioned in other journals but this tour is an absolute win. If anyone's a fan or causual listener and decided not to see this tour, but can blow 50 or 60 dollars on drinking out or weekend activities--yeah the economy blah, blah--are MISSING OUT, see this show now if you get an opportunity. His tickets are still reasonable compared to other acts this year.

alright, overall the concert was AWESOME! it was my first nin concert but i have been a long time fan, just never had a chance to go to a show.

amazing set, the wretched, down in it, and reptile were fucking amazing suprises, i thought i was gonna die when i heard reptile start up.

i personally loved how the show was so diverese as well, you had your straight up metal show with wish, the wretched, terrible lie, gave up songs like that. then you had amazing audio visual performance with his newer stuff from with teeth, year zero, and ghosts. there were so many songs to cover from over the years that it really made the show amazing.

visually it was amazing, favorite visuals from the night were during, ghosts, only, and vessel.

treat and the band performed awesome, kudos to trent for being fucking over 40 and stilll rocking it harder than ever!

EXCELLENT show but the arena (10,000 cap.) was only half full, if that. WTF!?!?!? And the crowd was laaaaaame!Oh well, Trent & co. gave it their all. Gotta say, that was absolutely one of the best light shows I've ever seen in my life and I've seen a TON of concerts. Pink Floyd included. Made what he did in 2005 on W/ Teeth look like amatuer night. Different light show for every song. WHOA.

I believe this is the correct setlist. Somebody please correct if not....

Uhh... were we at the same show???

Because I saw NO security ANYWHERE... And when a mosh pit started right where I was standing (dead center) I got thrown to the ground and nobody even bothered to see if I was okay (did I mention I'm a 14 year old girl?). There were also people blowing pot smoke in my face... but I guess that's typical though.

I loved the show, but to be honest there were parts of it where I felt really threatened and wanted to leave. Maybe it's just because of my age and my inexperience with concerts like that one (I've been to loads but none as heavy as Nine inch nails)... but either way I didn't feel comfortable for a lot of it.

Just my experience.
Everything else was great though

this was my 6th NIN show. i've seen every tour except The Fragile.

this show, by far, has the best lights and production i have ever seen.

they sounded great and put on a great show.

REPTILE totally ruled. everyone around where i was for the show were great, and there was ZERO drama. perfect night.

-there were a ton of empty seats.... they tried a $20 ticket promotion a couple of days ago [my guess to get some more bodies in the door] but, maybe that's the reason they played Gwinnett Arena and not downtown.
either way; those who went got a killer show.

What an awesome show couldn't have asked for anything more.. thought the setlist was perfect defiantly another incredible performance by NIN.

On a side note and I know this is a long shot but I ended up loosing a camera down on the floor front and center(thereabouts). If anyone happed to find it I really would like to have it back. So please if you happened too find it please let me know

Had a great time at this show - like most have mentioned already, I thought it was heads and tails above Knoxville. TR was really going for it in comparison to night before - seemed pretty connected to the crowd. Somehow, and against the odds, this rocketed up the 2nd spot on my list of fave NIN shows. The energy was great, the crowd was considerably less douchey, the setlist left very little lacking. Hell, even Deerhunter was night and day better! (did anyone see TR in the crowd watching their set?!) I couldn't ask for much more from a show...except maybe not to be peed on!!! WTF?! who does that???????!! seriously.

WTF was up with making us in the pit sit down before the show started? We were totally fine before they made us sit down, and fine after we all stood back up.

Excellent show though, despite the few idiots in the crowd. I really wish everyone would just shut the fuck up during the Ghosts songs, though.

i got to be a lucky one in the front and center on the rail and it was AMAZING!!!!!!! i was directly in between the guy that caught the tambourine and the guy that caught the microphone when he threw it during 'Closer'. things definitely got a little tight, and i'm definitely sore, but it was well worth it! that was the best show i have EVER seen, hands down, and the light show was fantastic! you can definitely tell where their money went.

the set list was INCREDIBLE!!!!! i still can't believe that they played 'Reptile'! that was an awesome unexpected song that I love! i got a ton of great pictures [when not bring thrown around] and it was definitely an experience to be had!

if there's still any way of buying any tickets to this show, go!!!!! you will not be disappointed!

The people, not the concert

. Trent & co were better than I ever thought they would be... What made me feel threatened were the out of control, wasted maniacs that kept pushing people around.

I definitely got my share of asshole last night, to say the least... (haha). But I had fun. Not as much fun as I would have if they weren't there, but fun. I just wish people had come to the concert for NIN and the music - not to hear songs from Broken so they could have an excuse to fight with each other.

I was also against the rail, front and center. The show was amazing. I didnt really get any great pics. Id love to have some if you guys want to share. This was the best show I have seen, except perhaps the first time I saw them at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. Reptile stole the show. Terrible Lie was also really great. Trent looked really good and healthy. His voice sounded amazing, even though I know he has had some problems with it. Security was amazing. They gave us water when requested, and kept all the body surfers off our heads. My birthday was the 12th, so the show was the best birthday present a girl could ask for.

I went for the reserved seating for this show instead of gen admin, mostly because I have a chronic pain problem with nerve damage in my back and I really didn't want to get even gently pushed around. Sitting and basking in the glow from Section 119 was just jim dandy for me.

The setlist was incredible. I was there 80% for the YZ and Slip tracks, and I definitely was not disappointed. I would liked to have seen The Great Destroyer, but the ones played were more than good enough. EVERYTHING they played was mind blowing. And that was me, the girl that shrieked when the gun graphic came down on God Given.

This was my husband's second concert ever, the first being Matchbox 20 (yes, I know, we're trying to get him out more) and that was the most enthusiastic and pumped up I've ever seen him. Oh, and to the couple in front of me that was making out most of the time? Not cool. And the guy next to me that stood stone still the entire time? You're a moron. A large percentage of the crowd was definitely irritating, but it didn't hurt the awesome energy that was in the room.

Can scratch this off the "To Do Before I Die List" (see YZ played live). Two more things, and I'll die very happy.

Just an observation...it felt like most of the crowd had a good handle on the way one should act during "Hurt"...that is, either shut up, or sing along. Do not yell "WOOOOOOO!!!!", "YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!", or "FUCK YEAH, TRENT!!!!!" during the song. For the most part, the crowd was really quiet for the song, or just sang along with Trent, and it sounded amazing.

And if any of you WERE the assholes who just screamed nonsense, do the world a favor and slit your wrists.

Stellar show, though. Was hoping for Meet Your Master. Decided I didn't care when they came out with Reptile. Robin's raspy backing vocals have always sounded awesome on it.

I loved the show. it was everything i thought it would be and more. Blah, blah amazing visuals, freesey goodness. Robin was phenomenal. I forgot that he's so awesome. his guitar style is waaay better than aaron's. everything just sounded amazing.

I loved it when trent threw the tamborine and the crowd gasped. Also the crowd singing piggy gave me the chills.

In the midst of my amazement over god given i forgot that ITT was the closer and it caught me off guard. I teared up a little *sniff*

did i say that i thought the show was amazing?

i couldn't go to sleep when i got home coz i just kept replaying the show in my mind.

wow...so much hostility in here towards other members of the audience....

i dont care how anyone acted during the show as long as they had a good time, didnt cause me or others any harm, didnt convince trent to end the set early, and were generally nice...anyone who does anything other than this needs to reconsider their motive for attending a show....

i don't know, i think shards of glass on the floor is definitely a danger to anyone at a show. I'm all for people having a good time but that went too far. shit i would've taken the glass bottle to the trash for him.

there was something definitely more visceral about reptile, piggy and wish that just wasn't there in the previous shows i've been too.

honestly, for a first timer in the front row, the biggest thing for me was the concussive force of the bass and drums in songs like the big come down or vessel.

it's definitely a different experience seeing trent move the way he does, interacting with his songs like during survivalism "she asked to take my hand...."

next show, i will definitely be farther back to get the scope of the screens, which just keep getting more complex and more phenomenal.

this is the best show i've been to this year, and that's saying alot considering the multitude i've been to lately.

This was my 14th NIN show, the first being Lolapalooza 1991. So yes, I am one of those "old people" who come to NIN shows and dance around in my spot, but don't scream or sing at all. Is that lame? I really just want to hear TR and the band when I go see a show - not the 5 or 6 people around me who can only enjoy the show if they are singing at the top of their lungs. I mean, even if they sing well, I really want to hear TR, NOT YOU!!

By far, best visuals *ever* for a NIN show. If I had Trent's phone number I would love to call him up and thank him for putting that much production value into this tour - it looks breathtaking - literally. The band sounded awesome as usual, Josh is the best drummer yet, and Robin plays the material with a confidence that allows him to make those songs his own and get crafty with them in a really good way.

I loved all the new material, loved that we got to hear some songs that the other fans on this tour haven't been hearing too much, and I also loved that people were reasonably respectful during "Hurt". Terrific show. Thank you Trent!

This was my 4th NIN show. And while I didn't think it could top the 2000 show in Lakeland, Florida, I was proven very wrong.

Robin being back is amazing, and it is a crime not to see the current lineup.

it was an amazing show, my first concert ever and I couldn't have made a better choice for my first haha, the only thing that bugged me was that this guy next to me was dancing like a douche bag and it was very distracting, i had an awesome time though....i will admit though I "woo-ed" at least one during Hurt myself...

Incredible show. My first NIN show and it was a blast. Was 4 people back from the rail slightly to the right and by the end of the concert, I was behind someone on the rail near middle. An incredible experience. Reptile was insane. Amazing surprise. It was greatly refreshing to hear Down It It's original beat. Had a great time, the crowd was incredible. "Head Like A Hole" was sick. Heariong the crowd roaring "Head like a hole!" was epic. Also, near the end of In This Twilight when the 3 lights in the sky appeared on the top hyper-ultra-technological-screen-thingy, i got chills. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. If you can still get tickets, get them. You will not regret it at all.

i just got home, a nice 7 hour drive. the two i've resized at the moment out of about 80, im having a nerd attack because i actually took some photos that came out hah but i only figured out the settings toward the end of the show. i was on the rail between trent and justin, amazing spot. first time on the rail, so so so much better than being a row back. No squishing

i couldnt agree more about the set list, a beautiful beasty show. Reptile, oh god. best birthday present ever!

Phenomenal show. Loved every minute of it. Was totally worn out by the end.

Very happy to see Ghosts 28.

Visuals seemed to screw up a little at the end of Ghosts 19. Luckily Trent didn't flip out and kill anyone.

Liked Deerhunter. Was very annoyed with the crowd's reaction to them though. Made it difficult to enjoy the show.

Also, I noticed Alessandro was playing a thumb piano on The Wretched. Not sure when he's started doing that.

By far (out of the 5 I've seen anyway), the best NIN show to date. Well organized, and I for one didn't mind the sit down time once we got inside - why push and shove when you can just chill and get a beer or shirt for a bit?

Anyway, I was on the rail in front more to the right of the stage, right in front of Robin (sweet) and I guess where the cool security guys were. They had cases of water and even though they had to basically pour it down our throats (no bottles allowed anymore) it was nice to have. They also gave us the rest of the bottles as soon as the band was off stage. They'd hold our beer for a minute and let us hang our merch on the other side for better keeping.

Light show ROCKED, even from the rail. It's so amazing to watch, I wish I had a better camera - mine sucks and I don't even bother with it.

Anyone else run into Trent in the audience during Deerhunter? He went past us in front and out into the crowd for the first 5 songs or so, then returned backstage, but I didn't want to give up prime real estate to find him - I didn't even see which way he went.

This was my first live Nine Inch Nails show and I must say it was amazing. I never imaged it could have been as great was it was.

My girlfriend and I were in section 106 row L and had a pretty good view of everything. Only downsides to that was I wish I had walked to the back to get a good "head on" view of the effects and the people in the row in front of us were a bunch of idiots.

Thanks to to all of you who have posted pics and videos, I only got a few 15 second clips on my phone and all my pics were turned out horrible.

Hmm I'm keep it simple

Best NIN show ever since Downward Spiral tour in 95 and I can't say which was best outof the two because it's two very different attitudes and energy here. Today they are more mature in their energy where as 12 years ago was chaos (unplanned). Most stuff today is planned but i'm not complaining it was either the best or 2nd best show ever by them I've seen. The visuals were hands down the best ever I've ever seen at any show. Just go see it yourself.

I do not like Justin - He belongs in a boring band such as Deerhunter, who I found so dreadfully boring. It makes me think Trent puts them on to make their energy look better. I admire him for his musical ability (Justin the bass player) but man I want NIN to have members ROCKING their shit. Ugh....but I regress. Still first or 2nd best show ever by them . Setlist was top notch but still waiting for W.I.T.T. as is everone.

Want to know where everyone was? Here's the truth people. $66 dollar ticket with service charge and not a commercial release since YZ if you call that commerical. They havn't had a hit since ONLy so there. Just being honest but in entertainment you're here today as you are also GONE today. It's all about what have you done for me lately for most people.

As for me I'll always be a NIN fan. Oh and I'm extremely happy Robin and Josh are in the band. Robin belongs.

I really can't add more than what other people said - awesome show, epic setlist. fucking awesome. Sound, lights, energy, blah, blah....all up there with the best. All the YZ/Slip/Ghosts stuff was just what the doctor oredered. And yeah....fucking Reptile + Robin = WIN! I really enjoyed Aaron, but I've got to say that Robin just fits that spot in a way that can't be compared to. And even without make up or cornstarch, that man is still one freaky, scary-looking mother fucker and that's PERFECT for nin! During Down In It he was doing the "rain rain, go away..." part, and he just looked so fucking creepy doing it, and I remember it just made me laugh and think, "holy shit! If you want to give your kids nightmares for life, this is who you get to read nursery rhymes to them!"

The guys were all at their top form and Trent, or course, performed his ass off.

The elder of the Kevin's was asking questions about the band before-hand ("Do they have any songs on the radio?" "yeah....my 15 year old son said that this guy's got a song about...you know...doing THAT to you like an ANIMAL!" *look of shock*), as he wasn't familiar with nin. Actually, this chick (who was sweet, but not a singer of any sorts) was singing so loud, and just almost but not quite enough on key to where it was obvious she actually thought she could sing (adding vibrato and all...ugg), but alas...she could not (as none of us really can...). Her mouth was right next to my right ear and it was so distracting that I finally just put my finger in that ear to block her off, and I think that gave her the message, so she stopped.

It's not a matter of shitting on the band. It's the fact that they were instantly forgettable and just not that impressive. Maybe if the chick had actually played the guitar instead of doing handstands and cartwheels and playing a total of 6 chords through the entire set,maybe it would have sounded better.

i listened to the songs that were on NIN.COM from the opening acts...that's when i decided i paid my money to see NIN....as always. Peter Murphy, Manson, Pop Will Eat Itself, Jim Rose Circus: those were opening acts as far as i am concerned

for this show i hung out with friends outside of the venue until 8:30 then went in to see NIN. i wasn't the least bit interested in Deerhunter and whoever...

i'll say this; it's cool that Trent gives no name acts the chance to try and win over a crowd that big....who most obviously hate them. i don't care. i didn't care 45 seconds into the tracks i downloaded.

whatever. NIN killed it. that's all that really matters.

I had never heard Deer Hunter, and I actually kind of liked them. But I'll admit that I try to be really open-minded about the openers as I've actually ended up loving some bands who I was first introduced to because they opened for nin: The Dresden Dolls, Saul Williams, TVOTR. I even tried to like DFA1979, and I actually did for about five seconds. (But only five.) I think my main problem with Deer Hunter was that there sound wasn't good enough to distinguish between the instruments really well, it was pretty muddy. But that's often the case with openers in a big arena when they aren't used to playing big arenas - they just don't have the sound equipment to get their sound across. I really don't think it was because they sucked, it was just that we couldn't easily hear what they actually sounded like. I couldn't understand a word the guy was singing, I could just hear his voice, and I think that's PA and sound issues. I actually kind of liked the "ethereal wash of sound" they had, and it would have been perfect if I were a stoner.

And about people flicking them off, booing, etc....that's just being a dick.* Trent chose them for a reason and I think we should at least give them the respect of not being total douches to them, unless you are a total douche. It's not like if they see you flick them off that they're going to all the sudden go and change their sound for you, or that they'll stop and say, "oh...sorry, I guess we suck. We'll leave now so NIN can come out early."

And it's not like Trent's going to see you flicking them off and decide, "lets not have the openers from now on." I mean, he put up with DFA for a while.

The only reason I really didn't like Deerhunter was stated before by someone; I couldn't understand a word the singer was singing, and the girl with the guitar could NOT play the guitar. Sure, the cheerleader costume is cute, (not really), but it's been done.

I do keep an open mind as far as opening acts, but two songs in, I couldn't tell when the songs ended and when the next drone, er..song..began. Having Marfan's syndrome had nothing to do with whether I liked the band or not. Kudos for the singer for being able to rise above and have a band, but I still felt that every song sounded the same.

I clapped for them, but no, I didn't enjoy them, but what the hell, everyone has an opinion. I wouldn't flip them off, but fuck it, let the chick above deal with the crowd ha!

I was amazed on going online after the show to find they had so much recorded. There are always going to be opening bands people don't like. Just be a bit nicer in your critiques. Give reasons other than "they fucking sucked"

That show rocked! I know I am posting late but I'm just back from work and just now physical enough to type anything... I had never heard of DeerHunter save for the EP download from NIN.com and I can honestly say that I like them a helluva lot more then Radiohead, I even picked up their Vinyl.... NIN performed at 110% and blew me away! I had excellent seats and will post pics and vids as soon as I upload them (a few moments).

The only gripe I had was the Eraser switch.... I heard the Eraser guitar while they were "erasing" the only lights and got sooooooo pumped but then felt tricked. Also I want to say thanks to Robin for acting deaf! I was right in front of him after the show asking for an autograph and he kinda just kept going... but he did wave so I guess it makes up for it? (right beside = 8 ft away) Trent made a mad dash at the end of the show so no autograph! Damn that guy can run fast....

More later, but excellent show! Best NIN show I have ever seen and I think crowd was actually pretty cordial except for the nude drunk female behind me who kept waving her vagina near the back of my neck......

Nah, they've never signed stuff like that. And actually, I don't think you can buy after-show passes (people get them from people they know, people hand them to you, etc.), and Trent rarely attends those. He showed up for about five seconds at one that I was at on the last US tour, and he didn't sign anything or really talk to anyone. It's just been a general understanding for years that it's not really something Trent does. With smaller bands, like the Dresden Dolls or the like, they might come out afterwards and sign things for the fans. But imagine what would happen if the guys from nin stopped and tried to sign autographs as they left the stage? People are already going crazy and screaming for Trent and crushing people trying to get close to him during the show, what do you think those people would do if they suddenly realized that he was signing shit for people? They would all go ass-crazy and trample people to death! For bands like the Dolls, it's understood at one of their shows that people respect other fans space, no one tramples or pushes, etc. NOT so at nin shows - it's quite often kill other fans to get close to the band - so signing things for people would never work.

And I really didn't mean to jump on you about this or make you feel dumb or anything, I guess that maybe this was your first nin show and you just didn't know how they do things, or that you really haven't learned yet how rabid and crazy and scary the fans really are!

I gotta say... and I dont post here often, if at all... that that was the best NIN show I've ever seen. I've actually lost count of how many times I've seen them 13... 14... somewhere around there. Haven't missed a tour since TDS.

I stood in front of the mixing board to the right with a pretty much straight on view of the stage. I figured this was the best way to witness this stage-show... I was right. I'm getting to old to venture forth in the pit, plus my back thanked me for having something to lean against. Not to mention the wife was with me. But holy shit that show blew me away.

I NEED to see it again. Hoping they add more "southern" dates later.

I'll say this for Deerhunter... they have my respect for having the balls to stand in front of generally hostile crowds who could care less about them. That being said... they were not impressive at all. The highlight was the chick guitar player doing cartwheels and shit... at least that was entertaining. I agree with the guy who listed Jim Rose, PWEI, Manson, and The Dresden Dolls as good opening acts... hell yeah.

Sidenote:
Anyone here lucky enough to be at the Akron Agora a long time ago on TDS tour where a group called Fem II Fem opened? Christ now that was an opening act... Google them. Naked chicks (most of them lipstick lesbians)on stage. As Cartman would say, "sweeeeeeeeet."

I hope to sweet hell he releases a DVD of that show... it deserves it. Well done Mr. Reznor... well done.

Can't say too much that hasn't been said before. My second NIN show personally and obviously the best. I will cherish this one forever. Wow.

I told myself that I would try to give a detailed account of each song as I recall it so for everyone here so here goes:

(Spoilers included,. of course. The songs are a little out of order here and the but oh well!)

999,999 - During this, JMJ's bass tech seemed really busy working on the Geddy Lee bass with a drill - though JMJ started out playing the Thurderbird

1,000,000 - Awesome opener. Trent seemed incredibly angry and made great use of his delay effect control mounted on the mic stand.

Letting You - Freese melts your mind with the opening beat of this track - all the backing vocals toward the outro came off great.

Discipline - Awesome version of this song. Trent used some different delay techniques than the album version which came out even better to me.

March Of The Pigs - Crowd went nuts This song came off great and really got people going.

The Freil/The Wretched - Trents stage piano sounded great, then the band launched into the best verion of The Wretched I've heard. JMJ played a white Gibson Melody Maker guitar which was really cool. During the bridge of the song he and Robin traded licks which sounded great. JMJ was playing some really sick licks at that point, and using some of the sickest effects I've heard. The lighting for this song really added something cool. The weird, hazing circles in the back were cool toward the end.

Closer/The Only Time- Its really obvious why the song is such a staple - the crowd went crazy for this track and the performance was flawless to boot.

Gave Up - Great performance, the lights make you feel like you are watching a 3D movie without the lenses. Crazy, sick, heavy performance.

The Warning - With JMJ, Alessandro, TR, and Robin out on the edge of the stage. Lots of tweaking going on, full screen visuals. Robin made crazy cool guitar sounds.

Vessel - Incredible. One of my favorite points of the show. the visuals were completely stunning - yet very simple. You have to see this to believe.

Ghosts 28- Great visuals of rain. The screens created the effect of the band being "inside" a movie or something.

Ghosts 21 - This performance was amazing. You had all the guys playing different instruments and Josh playing complex patterns on percussion instruments. It was beautiful.

Ghosts 19 - Josh laid down some great drumming behind this one - the whole band really showcases their musicianship during this track.

Piggy - With TR playing a lead-out to this track it came off really great with Ghost-like instruments. Everyone seemed to really enjoy this one.

The Greater Good - Just visuals mostly, but really cool ones with little glimpses of Trent from a camera.

Pinion - and we all know what happens next...

Wish - Solid performance, the Freesinator was in full effect for the climax of this track. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Terrible Lie - Really got fists pumping. I loved the lights which were basically flashes of red... again Freese layed down thunder for this one. Best I've heard of this track to date.

The Big Come Down - Great performance complimented by mind-boggling visuals. The visuals for the last half took the prize of the night. The very last downbeat of the song had a sub bass note that shook Atlanta causing the first recorded tremor this side of the Mason-Dixon in over 100 years.

Only - The visuals for this track featured the screens in front and were senstive to Trent's touch - completely out of this world.

Survivalism - The camera mounted on the edge of the stage was right in front of me so everyone got to see me go ape shit. Of course they may have been a bit more intrigued by the bathroom cam. This song translated so well live!

Down In It - a bit of a surprise to me, came off really cool and had a great crowd sing along.

Ghosts 31 - solid performance with JMJ playing the synth bass.

HLAH - solid, solid, performance. This lineup does a much more "structured" rendition of this song than the previous line up which is cool. Huge NIN Screen signalling...

Encore:

Echoplex - Freese programmed on the touch screen a la Vanna White, the performance was flawless and this track came off really great live.

God Given - Kick ass song, kick ass performance, kick ass visuals.

Reptile - was surprised and amazed to get this one. BEST performance of the song EVER. SOUNDED GREAT. FREESINATOR. THANKS NIN!

Hurt - Absolutely beautiful performance of this one. This rendition is the best yet for this track. I really enjoyed what JMJ added on bass. The crowd sang along and this song got the applause it deserved.

In This Twilight - great to hear this one. The screen behind added atmosphere (literally!). Solid performance followed by TR playing a bit of Lights in the Sky as an outro.

All in all, this performance has to go down as one of NIN's best in my opinion. The sound was great, the band was on the mark, and Trent's voice seemed to have recovered nicely from whatever was ailing him last week.

Best show of my life wow...

Oh and fuck Deerhunter, their drummer had no dynamic control of his feet and the chick only knows barre chords, her amp wasn't even on for the first two songs and she just faked it. Edit: Took out excessively harsh statement about singer.

After he erased the TGG screen with the flashlight, the sound you heard was Pinion, so that may have been what you mistook for Eraser.

Oh yeah, one more thing:

The Ghosts section was great. I mean yeah it was chill at first, but I loved it by the time they were done.

i saw him over by the seats, and there were two guys sitting there entirely oblivious, so no, he wouldn't get trampled i'm guessing. no one around me noticed until i pointed it out either. he was cute, all bobbing his head up and down. yawned a few times too.

I will avoid turning this into a personal thread, but as I explained in a reply to your personal msg, the person I'm talking about was not you, so chill. I was just a little irked about hearing some chick behind me (which was not you) sing louder than I could hear Trent for half the show. I did not pay to hear that shit. I also hate fucking fangirls and their "I WANNA FUCKING MARRY YOUUUUU TRENTTTT!!!!!! I KNOW THAT CLOSER SONG IS ABOUT MEEE!!!"

Second, I think it's awesome that you came from Florida to see them.

You know what? You're an asshole. and seconded. I'm happy that you (speaking to <b>all</b> the singers here) enjoyed the show - I really am! It's not what you say or whether you sing in tune or not. It is the fact that you and people like you all over the arena are <i>keeping everyone else from hearing TR singing!</i>

For real, people. If your way of enjoying the show is keeping others from enjoying the show, then please be considerate and stop it. Sing as loud as you want in your bedroom at home. Not right in my ear.

yes, he was out in the crowd. i met him and shook his hand. he was very nice, but he did NOT want to be noticed.
