We took pictures with our iPhones--- none of them are worth a damn, but it doesn't matter.... Nothing could do justice for being at the show!

What can I say except it was amazing! Everyone is so right when they say the youtube stuff doesn't come close to capturing the expansiveness of the show-- all the lighting, timing etc...

And by the way, what an amazing group of musicians that Trent has assembled for this tour. Josh Freese is a God, Justin still rocks, Alessandro is... well Alessandro-- which is to say-- a truly talented guy, Justin is the "m---f----bada---!!, and Trent-- you never cease to amaze me with the time, effort, heart and soul you put into every performance!

And... hey... what is the "The Beginning" that flashes at the end of the show on the screens... got me all excited... the beginning to____?

Anyways the show was amazing, getting in the venue sucked. 2 trips back to the car. First for the back pack, then for the blanket. Then we had to wait in line again, it took about 2 hours total just to get in. But well worth it.
Got to meet Robin and Justin. they were really cool and very nice. Got to take pictures and get autographs from both. The rest of the guys didn't come out.

The funniest thing I heard all night was when trents van showed up and he went on his bus. This guy said. "Fine be that way trent, Axl would of at least said hi." Hilarious.

Well fun is fun, now its back to Chicago.

Sadly no 'echoplex' so my Mom didn't get to see the Josh-beatbox fun. But got 'the great destroyer' and 'reptile' so happiness abounds!

A mighty FU to the venue for making us take large bags, etc. back to our cars.

But a giant props to the venue for being awesome overall in sound, design, and keeping people from straying to other locations. :-)

Amazing and beautiful show! The stage was a bit smaller so survivalism only had 4 screens and no echoplex but we did get the great destroyer and me I'm not.

Trent said it was one of his favorite venues and that he could see a million faces. Usually it's a blur of black t shirts and isn't it summer? He's freezing his balls off.

It is truly impossible to describe the awesomeness of the sound tonight.At the last minute I chickened out on bringing my good camera but we got a few pics I'll post when we get home tomorrow.

Despite the delays and long lines getting in - has anyone else encoutered this at other Red Rocks shows? - this was a fantastic venue. Had the pleasure of meeting Robin's aunt and uncle before the show and they were the cutest couple - all excited about seeing him perform for the first time. Am waiting for others to post pics since with all the hassles getting in, I left my camera in the car. Trent seemed to be in a fine mood, well except for the little mic outage glitch during Letting You (at least I think it was during that song). Loved the goofy guy on one of the Survivalism feeds who was amazed he was on camera!

Did anyone else record the show? If so, please send me a PM. I only got the encore due to issues with my wav recorder.

In This Twilight was pretty surreal, with the city lights on the horizon visible above the video of city lights on the horizon.

Wow, that was the best show in the world... the lights and the sound were incredible, nine inch nails fucking ROCKS!!! Trent's energy is amazing, he exerts extreme power and passion in all of his songs, "Only" has always been my least favorite song live until tonight, holy shit, it was brilliant and blew all other versions away, very impressive.. every song was top notch. I took some videos and pics, but was way back in row 33 so they probably are not so hot, I'll take a look tomorrow when I upload them and see if any are worth posting. I'm off to try & catch some zzzz's and dream about NIN!

So the show was great, I am happy that we got vessel and the great destroyer.

I loved trents comments about the venue and freezing his balls off.

Also they played LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH during the soundcheck, if anyone in line was listening, so I was a little dissapointed we didnt get that in the actual setlist.

But overall the best show I have been to period.

TRENT I will see you every time you tour, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Is it me, or were there a bunch of little "whoops"s at the beginning of the set? Trent's mic in Letting you/Robin's guitar at the beginning of Discipline...?

Anywho, this was the most amzing show ive seen. i had no idea that the stage design was so fucking amazing, and piggy...sweet jesus, piggy made me forget that echoplex ever existed. I was a little dissapointed with the ghosts selections, minus the one with the sandy/cloudy visuals.

Other than that, all i can say is that after hearing the minimalist piano version of hurt trent played at the last red rocks show and then hearing the robin fink/drums imcluded version.....holy christ....and then in this twilight...whoo...that was a poweful show.

Im definatley jumping in the next half of the north american tour. maybe Nevada?

it was nice seeing everyone again.....its weird going to all these shows and having random people come up and say "Hey, youre that TIMP guy right?"

I didnt record redrocks this time around....at least not on MD. I have a bunch of video that was taken with my cybershot that i will post later on.

We left at the start of Hurt and let me tell you, Denver fans are fucking amazing. My friend and I were down at the lower parking lot #2 and we could still hear everyone in the arena singing their hearts out, and it was clear too.

Un-F'ing believeable! One of the top 5 concerts ever. Amazing sound, amazing light show, great crowd, security blew.

In all my years of going to shows at Red Rocks I have never seen them not allow backpacks, food, blankets, chairs, etc. We ended up walking back to the car to drop off our stuff, we didn't bring the camera in, just in case they weren't allowing those either. I have some crappy camera phone shots, if there are any good ones I'll post later.

Hurt was unreal!

It was unbelievable. Sound quality was excellent, especially after Deerhunter. (I think they would have been good if they had TURNED OFF THE DAMN REVERB. Perhaps they're better on CD but in theater it sounded like someone was shaking a coffee can of pennies in my ears.)

The production was impeccable. We had never seen anything like it. It's hard to even describe, we were just blown away. The crowd was great. Singing along with every song, and the people we chatted with in line were friendly. I particularly liked the NIN fans in their 40s that ended up next to us. Looked like the place was sold out as well, and I've heard that some of their dates this tour haven't been.

During the Encore Trent said he loved Red Rocks, but was feeling fucking intimidated because he could see every one of our faces in the crowd, it wasn't just a blur like other theaters. and he said, "Am I wrong? Isn't it fucking summer? I don't even know if I match, I put on everything I had, I'm freezing my fucking balls off."

Oh, how many of those LED screens were there? We know there were at least 2 but sometimes it appeared there were 3 or 4..and we were in row 36, 7&8, so far right and way up there, couldn't tell exactly the number of screens.

I also loved the genius of making a screen opaque so the roadies could be moving shit around behind it and there was NO downtime between songs. That was so well orchestrated.

I agree - best show ever! I've got pictures that I need to get from my camera. The line to get in sucked bad - longest I've had to wait to get into a show. The sound and effects were amazing. We were in row six, off to the side (seats 13 & 14) and still was amazing. Trent didn't talk much at all during the show - I actually think it was either right at the end or at the beginning of the encore. So glad it didn't end up raining. I totally have lost my voice.

This show was hands down the best show I've ever seen. Only my second time seeing NIN (the other being 2 years ago at Red Rocks), but still was absolutely unbelievable. Set list was phenomenal couldn't have asked for anything else to be added in without getting too out of control. I was sitting in row 8 seat 98 so way off to the side of the stage, but that was the only downfall and it wasn't even that bad. Sound quality was perfect. As others have said the talent that Trent has gathered is amazing. They all seem to go great together onstage.
I got to the venue early like 330 so that i could get the will call tickets and such. That was delayed a little bit but it was cool because i got to chill in line and meet new awesome people. Then ended up doing the "treasure hunt" thing which was fun, the chick that ended up with it is totally deserving and cool as hell. Then went into the show and had easily one of the best times at a concert EVER.

I've been to about 20 shows at Red Rocks, and have seen NIN 3 times now, and that show is easily on my top 5 of all time, anywhere. The only show that was close to that one was Radiohead at Redrocks. Holy shit those visuals were insane. I really like how abstract they were as opposed to straight up video. Great time!

i came all the way from montana to see this show, which means:

17 long and painful hours on the bus,
gobs and gobs of beer,
about 4 packs of cigarrettes,
and more fast food that i could imagine.

wee go to the show and we had to wait in the worlds longest line onloy to find out me and my date could've went to the front cuz we had presale tickets! as soon as we found our seats though, the rest was so fun! this is my second time seeing nin at the redrocks, and i have to say that it was the best!

What a outstanding show. It's been many years since I had been to Red Rocks and I have to say it was worth the wait. I can honestly say that no matter which show I see next...it has a huge set of shoes to fill. Sonicly impressive and visually stimulating beyond expectation, Nine Inch at Red Rocks was the show of all shows this decade for me.

Question... I have searched the lyrics to the songs from the playlist but I must be missing something... Trent was singing..." I need you to hold onto...don't ????? apart...I need you to hold onto" Something to that effect...does anybody know what song I might have heard?

quick highlights..

skipping the line thanks to presale tickets :)

seeing Trent 5 feet away watching Deerhunter from the mixing desk,

the joy my nephew had snapping pics of Josh (who came by after Trent left)

every damn song played hard and the entire mood, Josh absolutely kicking ass and Trent must have slept all day he had off because he was back!

Me Im Not , Vessel, and The Great Destroyer (why didn't they do that before? keep playing all 3!)

The classics were even harder...Wish in particular kicked mega ass,

the damn sound (at least for NIN) was amazing at red rocks, and good volume levels on all instruments,

^^ Yeah Terrible Lie still stomps so much ass. Down In It was my personal favorite of the night. I'm still in love with PHM. Not a bad show...my least favorite NIN show I've seen. The last perfomance at RRocks was outstanding...this one wasn't quite as good. Not that it wasn't bad, I just prefer the 05 w_t shows to this one. But all the YZ songs kicked fucking ass..what an album. Could have replaced 2 or 3 Slip songs with Fragile Era or TDS era tunes. No Big Comedown. No Echoplex. But Down In It Paid for the ticket alone. I had fun and didn't want it to end. Maybe after 3 or 4 NIN shows they aren't as special as they once were.

My ears were still ringing this morning.

Absolutely stunning show. It cant get much better than that, if at all.. Trent looked as pissed off as ever even in his older stuff. Glad to see they still have meaning for him... Head Like a Hole fucking blew my mind.

PS this was the best Hurt Ive ever seen... It worked a lot better with the large venue.

Flew out from LA and got to Colorado at 3 only for my luggage to be on the flight AFTER mine. Good times. But the concert more than made up for it! We managed to get there at close to 7 and I figured that once the doors opened we'd get moving. Big mistake! We were in line for about half an hour before we finally made it to the steps and were told that we had to go to the east entrance if we wanted to get in anytime soon.

One of the girls I was with had never seen NIN live and I kept telling her that she would be blown away, and she was. The visuals were sick, especially for Vessel, and I finally get what I read about Trent "infiltrating" the screen during The Greater Good.

This was my first time at Red Rocks or traveling out of town to see NIN at all, so it was amusing seeing how that 'no smoking in the venue' rule was constantly broken. The blonde girl next to me even had a joint! Hilarious.

I don't know if anyone here saw me, but I was the girl with the Burger King crown on, haha.

I've already posted some comments on the Beta boards (I'm Barlow43933 there by the way), so some of this might be rehash.

The visuals for this show were fan-fucking-tastic. Simply amazing! The energy in the crowd... the band fucking rocked, by far THE BEST line-up ever!! God I've missed Robin!!

Let me just say, in April the 'bar' for Live performances was raised significantly for me when I saw Roger Waters perform Dark Side of the Moon in it's entirety, WITH surround sound. Afterwards, I said it was the best concert I would EVER see, as I couldn't possibly imagine another show being nearly as amazing. While the show last night didn't surpass the Waters show, it sure came a hell of a lot closer than I thought would be possible. As a matter of fact, I think the only thing that made the Waters show better was seeing one of the best albums of all time performed in it's entirety. Trent DOES NOT disappoint!

The show was so amazing, that I didn't realize until later that I didn't get to see the song I was most looking forward to, The Good Soldier.

Yeah, I saw it. A few of us even stopped and waited for a couple minutes in case anything was gonna happen, but then the lights came on so we all left.

I know it's probably not realistic but I was on the lookout all night for potential future ARG related stuff, and that struck me as a possibility.

I'm so glad that I finally got to see my fav band at this amazing venue. It was absolutely lovely and surreal.

Even with altitude sickness, a cold and lack of sleep (from Philly meet up), it was a wonderful trip. The show was top notch with a great set list.

I forgot my camera but luckily a friend had a spare digicam. From 3rd row, center I got some amazing pics, which I will post when I get home.

I live right down the street from Red Rocks and by far this NIN show was way better then NIN 05/30/06 Red Rocks. With all the new slip songs and very well picked YZ songs and Down in it. The encore was awesome it got so nuts in there, I was a little sad he didn't play Echoplex but Reptile was great with God Given. Best NIN show I think I've seen, the visuals and everyone playing their asses off. Trent, Josh, Robin, Alessandro, and Justin.

looking back at the videos i took, our version of "The great destroyer" sucked compared with other nights. Our screen was pretty much white through out the whole show and i felt the song was cut kinda short.

thank god someone posted what it was! i saw that there was a word up there but i could not see from my vantage point what it said. we were row 4, seats 4 & 5. it looked like it said ending or leaving but i could really only see the 'ing' of it.

i was worried our seats would be too far to the right but they weren't. i could see trent & co at eye level - something i've never seen before, much more personal. almost club like.

as for the venue not letting you bring back packs and such - my guess is that's from the band. same with water and bottles and caps. the band specifically asks for that. i also thought that the security on the far right did a good job with reserved vs. GA.

i wish i could say the show was something other than amazing but that's the only word that describes it accurately. it was my first time to the venue and my second time seeing LITS tour and i loved it. It went by so quick it was almost like i dreamed it. someone said on the nin forum that they thought the show started rough and something might get broken - i did really notice this but my fiance mentioned it.

i have to say - that was the best i've ever heard wish played ever. freaking phenomenal chills down my back version.

Almost all of the posts say this was one of the best if not the best shows they've ever been to. I was there and it was absolutely the BEST show I've ever seen. It was amazing, the sound was incredible, I could hear every instrument and all the vocals perfectly. It was at the best venue I've ever seen. And the visuals were indescribable. All the work the band and crew put in to do this show was more than worth it. I'm so glad I spent the money to come from Phoenix to see this.

Same. I thought there was another word prior to beginning, but not sure what it was.

another thing i noticed, i think it was during "the great destroyer", but for a brief second when everything was flashing, i noticed a picture of what seemed like a woman and child. anyone else see that? i already tried adding ".com" to "beginning", but nothing happened

YES, my woman shot video of Me' I'm not through TGD and I have been trying to find it.
She also has in this twilight and she has a shot of the words at the end. But its not the full screen so you can only see part of it.

The shot of the woman was during the climax of Vessel, I'm pretty sure. My mom noticed it and I did too. Then I asked if she say a woman's face and she said, "YEAH!". So we are definitely not imagining things.

My wife and I were told that we could go straight to the front with our presale tickets too. So here we were, walking past hundreds and hundreds of people, with no escort, and no way to differentiate the line of people with GA tix vs reserved tix. I was really worried that shit was going to get rowdy! All we could do was say "they told us to go to the front". Shit, I wouldn't have believed me either.

Anyways, somehow we made it through without getting attacked.

I was in the very front row off to the left a lot, right in front of the left speaker array. So I obviously didn't get much of any stereo effect that was in play.

And my ears rang a LOT for the next day.

But it was still the best show of my life so far. My voice got shredded *and* my cheeks got sore from the widest smiles I've had in a long time springing up as the unexpected songs popped int.

Hell, Reptile? Down In It? I don't think he missed representing a single major Halo. And I agree with the above poster that that's the best Hurt I've ever seen.

If my pics came out, I should have a few good ones of the frontline, with and without cage. I'll keep y'all posted.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen, yes, I also saw her and could not stop staring at her stomach hanging out of her shirt. I felt badly about it, but I point it out to my friends for a laugh.

RE: pics. I took a ridiculous number of pictures and so many of them were just awful. I chock it up to the fact that it was my friend's camera and I really didn't know how to use it in the proper settings. I have almost 100 blurry pics of this show! It's really annoying that so few came out. I have one or two more that are decent, but the ones I posted above are hands down the best.

RE: pics. I took a ridiculous number of pictures and so many of them were just awful. I chock it up to the fact that it was my friend's camera and I really didn't know how to use it in the proper settings. I have almost 100 blurry pics of this show! It's really annoying that so few came out. I have one or two more that are decent, but the ones I posted above are hands down the best.

i really like the last two you posted. they're fabulous. i wouldn't mind larger versions for wallpaper use...hint hint... i have a ton of blurry pics too. unfortunately that's how it goes with the little point and shoots and even the nicer cameras if you don't know what you're doing. my best ones i posted were from closer and those are grainy as hell coz i cranked up the ISO so i could maybe get a shot...my favorite of mine is the one where trent looks like he's doing the chicken dance. i don't know if you guys have read the thread in the main nin forum ( http://www.echoingthesound.org/phpbbx/v ... 38&start=0 ) about the words on the screen but i KNOW its not a mistake. i saw it at duluth and i'm pretty sure people have seen it at other shows. It could mean nothing but i'm almost positive its intentional.

definitely one of the better NIN shows the last few years. nothing will ever compare to '94 but still - i was happy. i have seen a number of Red Rocks shows (last 2 were Radiohead and APC's last show). sound was spot on and the night was perfect weather-wise.

the only song that i felt kinda fell flat was 'Survivalism'. it's kinda like 'Burn' - neither sound as good live as they do on the disc IMHO.

will be seeing them again near where i live on Nov. 26. cant wait

Did you see the douche down there at Will Call trying to scalp tickets? After we got our goods, we were walking back up to the venue and they had his ass over the hood of the police car arresting his ass. Why would you scalp 20 ft from a cop? And that cop seemed to be a no shit taking kind of guy anyway.

haha, glad to see a scalper get what he deserves. I loved the guys who walked around trying to buy tickets for $10-20. I told one of them "what, so you can turn around and sell it for $100? I don't think so"

Anyone check out Josh's drum set? Absolutely gorgeous... Looked liek EVERYTHING was powdercoated black, and he had a gold snare... just thought it was a beautiful set

At one point, during the band's recent Red Rocks, Colorado, performance the Hippotizer choked and spit out some text from the machine's video-labeling system. NIN fans immediately began dissecting still shots from a video someone had taken, and a three-page discussion ensued on NIN forums trying to decipher what the secret text meant.

"It was all just that stupid fucking Hippotizer getting the wrong trigger ... something from the lighting desk just misfired," Sheridan says.

But Reznor, who is an unabashed Mac fan, is also playful about having to partially rely on Windows boxes for some of the show's visuals.

"We purposefully put one frame of the Blue Screen of Death in this collage of static that comes up at the end of 'Great Destroyer,' and right away people caught it," he says.

A little more than a road trip for this latest show at Red Rocks. For as long as I have been old enough to go to shows, I have always had a dream to see a show at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO. I hopped a flight on Monday 9/1/08 and flew out of Indy bound for Denver. After meeting up with a long time friend and a newly met, live in person, buddy from way back we headed up to the venue. The great thing about Red Rocks was the fact that when there is not a show scheduled for that evening you have complete access to the venue, the stage, the seats etc. So we seized the opportunity to get on stage and snap quite a few pictures. Got us all prepped for the next days show and let us get our bearings.

9/2/08 Show Day: We decided to head up fairly early because parking in the park can become “at a premium” near the venue very quickly. We arrived about 3:00 PM; in plenty of time to be there before the 4:30 will call booth was set to open. We were lucky enough to park right at the bottom of the backside stairs that lead out of the venue. Great thing about Red Rocks is that you can actually kill a lot of time just taking all of it in if you have time to wait for tickets, or in line, so needless to say it went by fairly quickly. I even took a bit of the time to try and find the Google Earth “?” to see if we had any shot of finding the postcard to no avail.

After getting our tickets and passes the three of us walked back up towards the venue. We passed the douche that was attempting to scalp tickets right at the will-call area and saw him getting arrested by the officer trying to maintain some semblance of order down there, it was hilarious. Ironic in a sense- all those folks at will-call had purchased their tickets via the set-up by NIN and management to escape the very assholes like him. Hope you had a good night son!

By the time we walked back up to the venue the doors had been open for about a half hour so we really didn’t have to wait to get patted down and get into the venue. Luckily, they were allowing small cameras into the venue, so I grabbed the digital and headed in. Our seats for the show were unbelievable. Row 19 Seats 63-65 were absolutely dead center and about three rows up from the soundboard. Absolutely perfect place to sit in the venue- visually, and sonically. I knew we were in for the experience of our lives!

We found our seats very quickly and decided to head up to the top of the venue to the merchandise tent for Peter. While we were up top- the line at the merchandise tent was longer than getting into the venue itself. We could hear Deerhunter playing from where we stood. If I’m being honest about it, I’m fairly glad I missed most of the set visually as the audio was not on par with my musical tastes. We did get down to the seats and heard the last two songs of their set and settled in.

After a longer intermission than usual (from previous tours) to set-up, NIN took the stage. The setlist is as follows:

This tour and the fact that shows are nearly 2 ½ HOURS long is unbelievable. I tried to stave off the urge to hear any of the previous shows leading up to Red Rocks, I wanted to be immersed the entire experience without having any idea what was coming next. Needless to say as this date was on the last 1/3 of the tour it was brutal on me. But I held out and it was worth it.

The show as a whole ran the gauntlet, from “Pretty Hate Machine” to “The Slip” and everything in between. It was amazing to hear Terrible Lie, Down in it and HLAH all being played in the same night gave you almost a nostalgic feel in those sections of the show- sort of brought back a lot of memories and to experience them live was amazing.

The Ghosts section of the show was beautifully done, a nice breather I’m sure for the band and the audience in that thin mountain air. The visuals along with the music for the entire show were done on a spectacular level. It appeared that, as usual, Trent and Co. pushed the envelope hard on bringing so many new ways to utilize visuals to this tour- and they came off flawlessly. Wonderful use of them to compliment the music being played. It almost appeared as if you were watching a full-scale play with scene changes, and a storyline unfolding. Wonderfully done to say the least!

Many songs that, from the more recent albums, I wanted to hear played live I was actually able to get to hear them tonight. “The Great Destroyer,” “Vessel,” “Discipline,” and “God Given” were all on my “Want List” of songs to see and hear live and I’ll be damned if they weren’t ALL played tonight. Felt like I hit the NIN lottery or something.

As I have written in the past “Reptile” has always been my absolute favorite song live, I have been very lucky to have it end up on numerous setlists of shows I have attended, as I have said to experience it live and in person is an experience that cannot be replicated on even the best live recording. Again tonight- it was in the setlist, and once again it kicked the hell out of me. This is the first time I have experienced it at an outdoor venue and sadly, although a wonderful venue to behold, I think some of the audio force was lost in the Denver open-air environment. Kick-ass nonetheless. But one song that literally pounded you in the chest and made you want more was “Vessel” Holy GOD; even in an outdoor arena the bass hitting you was unparalleled to anything I have ever been able to experience. For anyone on the tour who got to FEEL this song and all its power indoors- I cannot imagine how blown away it must have felt. Couple that with the visuals that were selected for the song and it was the absolute highlight of the evening for me!

Since I am not a resident of Denver I was pretty unsure how the crowd would be. I have been in pits in NY, Indiana, and Chicago and each of them has their own special mix of people with entirely different levels of brutality. With no “pit” in Denver and general admission being the seats at the top of the mountain, I was unsure how this would come off or affect the crowd. In essence you would have a venue entirely made up of seats (or benches in this particular case), I have to say I was really impressed, the crowd was generally responsive, and people utilized the space they had of their “seat” to go as hard as they could. I feel like I’m getting to be an old fart, but having “seats” was absolutely fine with me. I was able to experience the concert as I always do I had ample room to jump and move and throw my hands up, scream every lyric of every song and still let the music wash over me and let me be in my “zone” of feeling as if I’m the only one in the entire venue.

By the end of the night I was whipped, as usual, it was a beating I took on with delight, my voice was shredded, but with that Denver air- even with pouring my own guts out- I hardly even broke a sweat. I’m sure that the fact that it was about 50 degrees outside didn’t help the situation either. Trent made note of it in his speech during the encore asking something to the effect of “And correct me if I’m wrong but is it not fucking summer? Is it freezing out or what the fuck is going on? I don’t even know if I match, I just put everything I have on cause I’m freezing my balls off up here”

After the show ended with a wonderful rendition of “In This Twilight” the venue started to empty out and we headed down front. We placed our passes on and had this very odd “what the hell are we supposed to do!?” feeling. Both my buddies were asking me and I was just as lost as everyone else in the group. As security started to herd everyone out one of the guys in security saw my pass and told me to go sit in the first two rows in front of stage right.

People filed out of the venue fairly quickly and we waited for a minute or two. We took the time to talk to each other and other fans about what we were just able to witness- I had to have had a grin from ear to ear. Then someone came out that was only referred to as “the boss” and told us to follow him, he said, “If you are guests of someone, they may come down to see you, they may not!” He was brutally honest and you could tell he was a “no shit-taking” kind of guy. We were escorted to catering and sat down. Everyone else backstage seemed to be old pro’s at this, I felt like it was my first day of Jr. High and I wasn’t sure what table to sit at. Thankfully, I had good friends with me to pass the time as we settled into a touch of comfort. We saw Robin come in and head to a couple of tables to see his guests. After he appeared to be done and potentially leaving I spoke up and just wanted to introduce myself, complimented him on the show and asked if he would mind if I snapped a picture.

Alessandro was there as well and had a conversation with a few gals at another table. After we were able to meet Robin I went over and introduced myself to Alessandro as well. I was so impressed at what a down to earth guy he was. I thanked him for a wonderful show and he was so grateful for the compliment. He shot the shit with us for about 20 minutes; we talked about the Border Crossing fiasco going into Canada earlier in the tour (bus driver visa issue,) his favorite venues to play, and about the flight to Denver from Lexington the night before. At one point he even took out his iPhone and showed us a picture of the plane interior that the panel had started to pull away from the cabin. I knew they had a long drive ahead of them that night to Salt Lake City, so I was even more impressed that he took so long to talk with us. I was most appreciative.

At that point we were the last ones in the room, every other guest had taken off and one of the venue security said “Well I think everyone that was going to come down has.” I asked sheepishly if I could have one of the itineraries off the wall and they were kind enough to let me take a memento of the visit. With that in hand and a couple more minutes of talking with both of the venue security folks downstairs she escorted us up to the stage, as I was exiting I all but begged for the pass-sheet taped to the wall. No dice on that. I said, “Would you mind if I took a picture of it at least?” She said, “Sure go ahead.”

By the time we got out of backstage the venue had been cleared for an hour or so- and they had shut off damn near every light in the place. Even the stairs were now dark as shit so we precariously made our way down the stairs with just the moonlight and the slight glow of the Denver skyline as our guide. Yeah that was nice! Luckily, at the bottom of the stairs was the van so once we were down we didn’t have far to go. We pile in and start to head down the mountain. The tour Busses and Trucks were parked just a stones throw away from where we were and we had to pass them as we would leave. As we got there I noticed probably about 25 people still standing behind the ropes by the busses. Chris pulled over and I said, “Well security isn’t telling them to piss off, lets sit for a minute and see what’s going on.” As we sat we saw one white van after another come down from the venue, out of each pops Robin, Alessandro and Justin. The guys get their stuff offloaded and get it onto their bus. Alessandro heads out first and starts meeting people and signing autographs for them. Then out came Robin. I figured I didn’t have anyone sign anything backstage, so I thought “What the hell I’ll see if Robin will sign my ticket” I got in the very back of the line as I felt like I had already been really lucky to have been able to see both of these guys backstage- these folks hadn’t seen anyone yet so I thought it only right for them to get sigs and pictures with them first. While Robin was out Justin popped out as well, I had seen him buzz through backstage but he never stopped or visited so I thought it would be a good chance to possibly get to shoot the bull for a second. He got to the end of the line of us and I told him how great the show was as well, he also was very appreciative and humble. I asked if he would mind if I snapped a pic. I thanked him for his time and as I was walking away he yells "Hey man, its cold out here man, get warm.. maybe get some pants on" NICE! Don’t know why, hell I was pretty much in the same thing as most people out there. It was kind of a nice thing actually!

I get back to the van and there are swarms of taxi’s, trucks, and people showing up all at once it seems. We’re ready to go and after the mass of vehicles clear out- next thing we know security stops traffic and Trent’s bus and the band’s bus head out- onto Salt Lake! We head down to the town of Morrison and head back towards our lodging and to find some food. We are so jazzed Peter and I talk about the show non-stop all the way back. Well I’m sure I rambled on profusely. It was one of those nights you were sorry it had to come to an end. Felt like I could have stayed up for days after the experience. Sadly, there was not time to relish there in Denver; I was on a 9:30 flight the next morning back to Indy.
