Amazing! Best energy of the five I have seen.

Was in the first section in front of the stage jmj side. It wasn't the best view, but I was directly under the stack, so I had the best sound I have heard yet.

During MOTP Robin jumped off the stage. When he did it I was mesmerized by Freese so I didn't see the whole thing. The photographers were down there, but it almost looked to me like he gave someone his guitar.
Edit: Got the scoop from friends right in front, Fink was really into it, and he jumped down from the stage and the security didn't know what happened, so they jumped on him, and then he tried to go back up on stage and some woman security tried to stop him, and he pushed her out of the way. Sometime before he went back up on stage from the side Todd had his guitar.

During Survivalism only the cameras on the crowd were on the screens, the bathroom stuff was not there. Seemed like TR was pissed. The next song, The Big Comedown, he pushed through the curtain and a few of the panels came undone. The techs had to come out to fix them before the encore.



Can't wait until tomorrow. Still trying to get GA tickets so we can watch the whole shabang from the soundboard.

I was in section 101, so way off to one side. Nevertheless, the visuals were incredible! I loved the proximity-detecting light screen - it was way more impressive than I thought it would be. If those fools didn't use Max/MSP/Jitter, they used something very similar (of course, not implemented with MAKE boards like Silicon Valley artists do. They're dinky compared to what those machines were doing. I want to wank off to the setup, oh yes. Fap Fap Fap. [Ah nevermind, Rob says it's Linux. Massive deathundothee fail.])
I think my favorites were all Year Zero - The Greater Good, with the camera focused on Trent being projected into the 3-D model - both hilarious and fascinating. Vessel was wonderful as well; that inverted puddle blew my mind for a bit. And the guy in front of me mocking Trent's messianic positions was actually funny.
My only complains are: no Great Destroyer, less disco-y rendition of Only. But those are meager ones, 'cause that show was definitely more awesome than awesome had been previously.

I don't know what the 3 middle ghosts were... I'm still trying to figure them out. (edit.. middle was 17 I guess from mcpancake's post. I apparently forgot Discipline as well. Oops.)

I was a little apprehensive since I had nin.com seats; I didn't get the full effect of the screens, but I did get to see how they're using all of the screens to create the images.

Some asshole threw stuff at Deerhunter; the singer was relatively nice about it, saying something about the bottle being empty.

When 999,999 started, I stood up. Some idiot behind me threw something at me in an attempt to get me to sit down (I think... I couldn't quite hear what she was saying due to my lovely ear plugs from Etymotic). WTF? I'm at a NIN concert; I didn't come to sit. The crowd in my section didn't stand up until Discipline, which was a little annoying. Robin was really pissed off during MOTP and did a stage dive. Like akm said, the set up wasn't right during Survivalism; at least one of the groups didn't even notice that they were under the camera the whole time. It was rather funny when someone decided that Hurt was the perfect time for a declaration of love for TR.

The assholes in the seats next to me wandered in right before Closer and proceeded to talk for the rest of the night (except for that 5 song beer break). They were drooling over Radiohead the whole time; it was nice when they finally shut up during ITT since they were amazed. I was happy to get Vessel and God Given; I'm hoping for The Wretched (finally!) and Reptile tomorrow night. It was nice not being pressed into the rail, but the crowd on the rail talked far less.

Amazing show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Head Like A Hole was probably my favorite tonight. Usually it's the kiss of death, because it ended all of the other NIN concerts I've been too. I was amazed when they came back out. I don't know how they keep putting on a better show each time

It's funny how I wrote down the Ghosts songs. 5 is "Ghost (spy riff)", 17 is "Ghost (like shirt)", and 19 is "Ghost (heavy perc)". Funny how I remember these things? haha. I was in sect. 128, awesome seats. I'm currently sorting through my pictures and probably will select the best/least-blurry ones to upload to Flickr. Also, I've got clips of the following songs:

This was the biggest pit of drunken, fucked-up assholes I've ever encountered at a show. Ever. We were about five rows back from the rail & all hell broke loose once the show started. Everybody behind us suddenly decided they wanted up front, & they didn't care who was in the way. I've been in pits since I was in high school, & I can easily hold my own, but not tonight. Between the constant waves of people pushing I was barely able to stay on my feet, even with the help of my friend, who is a pretty big dude. Before you lecture me about "knowing what I'm getting into" on the floor, there are still unwritten rules that you follow. People in Oakland either didn't know about them or couldn't be fucked to follow them. We ended up moving farther back on the floor where we still had a good view of the stage & weren't in danger of being trampled. Fuck all you rude, inconsiderate assholes- especially the guy who grabbed hold of my hair & wouldn't let go as he tried literally to pull me back so he could get in front of me. Really, fuck off & die. /rant

The band was tight as usual, Finck was on fire, & the YZ tracks were great. However, of the four shows I've been to on this tour, I thought it was the weakest, mainly because of the setlist. It also seemed like they had some technical difficulties during The Big Comedown, & the screens weren't right for Survivalism. I thought TR's comment about getting old & cranky was cute, though.

A wonderful show!!! It was totally worth the trip from France. Too bad the screens were bugged during Survivalism, I would have loved to have a picture of Trent singing with those screens in the background. Plus he really seemed pissed about that.
I'm glad I didn't hear anyone scream stupid stuff during Hurt. Well, maybe they actually did and I didn't hear them because of Trent's amazing performance...
I liked the way he sang Piggy (for some reason it sounded "special" to me). I also realized how much In This Twilight was the perfect end to such a great show. What you can see on Youtube or anywhere else really doesn't do it justice.
Well, now I just hope they come to Europe after the North/South America tour, so that I can see them again.

Fucking awesome show. Anyone see Atticus Ross after the show in the VIP area behind the soundboard? It was cool seeing him and Rob talking. Best of my pics and vids to be uploaded tomorrow.

That was fucking awesome! My 5th time seeing Nine Inch Nails and easily one of the best. The visuals were stunning. I really loved the new version of Piggy. I hate that cocktease of the Frail without the Wretched. Either way, awesome show and I'm glad I went. The crowd seemed a bit tamer compared to other shows I went to. There wasn't even really any mosh pits. Not that I'm complaining about that.

Well, I'm not going to tomorrow night's show but I'll be in Sacremento in December. WOO!

AWESOME!!!! It really exceeded all the hype.

Yeah. The pit looked brutal from my vantage point in the seats. There was even a mosh pit in the center.

up in the middle close to the stage got a little crazy and i think a pit kept trying to develop right behind us. however not much farther back to the side it was almost too tame. come on guys, dance a little, hop around.

set list was pretty expected. march of the pigs was crazy fun. wish it would have picked up more for hlah. the band had great energy at the start.

just awesome stuff.

expect a recording on Dime in about.... 20 minutes. video (partial) will come tomorrow... or monday. so tired. my friend closer to the stage recorded almost the entire second half of the show so im gonna sync it to my not-so-great audio and call it done.

I was on the top right Survivalism screen the whole time! I had fun messing around for the camera. It feels cool being a part of a NIN technical difficulty. Fucking AWESOME show. It, by far, beats any NIN show I've seen before. Gave Up was the song of the night for me. Those lights were so intense at the end.

Also, that synth drone thing they played while the NIN logo was displayed sounded really cool. I kept thinking it was Corona Radiata but I don't think it was.

fucking awesome show i was about 2 people away from the barracade at the middle when the show started, got crushed for the first few songs eventually i drifted back about 4 people and could breath. amazing visuals, amazing show, nine inch nails has now made the top of my list concert wise.
my only compaint is that there were 4 or 5 frat boys near me who started shoving everyone in front of them for no fucking reason (the same people who tried to start a mosh pit during ghosts) i wanted to sock them but held back.
i cant say it enough an awesome show, i was suprised when trent threw his mic as the screen was coming down and broke off a piece of the screen, aparently the pieces snap right back on. i was near the lucky guy who caught the tamborine, i hope he enjoys the souviner.

Awesome show! I didn't notice the earthquake at all. But if it happened during the time while I was being pushed around up front, I can see how I missed it.

I had a fairly close spot at the beginning until some random guy used me as a battering ram to push almost all the way up to the front. I ended up about five people away from the stage, sort of between Robin and Trent but more on Robin's side. I was pissed that the guy kept pushing me at first until I realized, hey look how fucking close I am now! Never been so close at a NIN show, so it was kind of nice.

I got stuck in the middle of those drunk douche bags though that I think everyone is talking about. They kept trying to pull me away but I managed to keep them off. I even had to protect my friend (a somewhat short girl) from getting fucked with my them for most of the show until we moved back a little to get away from them.

I always thought it was better to stand back a bit so I could enjoy the visuals and performance better, which I did somewhat miss out on this time. Though it's really intense to be up so close and in the thick of everything. Even though it took someone being a dick to everyone (and I'm sure making it seem like I was too since I got pushed through so many people) to get there. Was very hot and sweaty through it all. But it was pretty amazing to be so damn close to the band!

So glad they played God Given. I was really hoping for that and it sounded great live. I'm a bit disappointed they didn't play The Great Destroyer though. All in all, it was a pretty good setlist. And definitely a great lightshow. And the band was pretty tight.

Must also give some recognition to Deerhunter. I've gotten into them fairly recently and was excited to see them too. They were really good! It seemed like they had a bit too much feedback on the first couple of songs, but it sounded better after that. Almost wish they had a longer set. I'd definitely check them out if they come again on their own.

I can't wait for Sacramento in December now! Hopefully the setlist will be a bit different. This time I think I'll stand a bit further back though so I can fully take it all in.

ok i guess i have more to say. regarding the crowd. i actually thought it was pretty good. like i said, about 5-10 people back in the middle it was a little annoying but nobody was being ridiculous (although i missed most a lot of head down thanks to crowd mischief). seemed like about 20 people back was where people were really going after it and this may have been the area to avoid. 20 back to the right in front of finck was strangely calm - too calm really. some of us were trying to hop around a bit, but a lot of people were just standing around. it was cool though cause i finally had some space and got to move around.

highlights were probably motp and wish. i just love pinion + wish. thought the warning was underwhelming. only, the big comedown, and the end of piggy were good too. i liked the drums during hurt but felt it the song never quite picked up.

Section 127 (closest to the stage on Robin's side) wasn't too shabby. The light rig wasn't in our way 95% of the time, and aside from missing the full effect of the light show (which will be remedied by better tix for the Sacto show) we had a great view of the band and how everything was working.

Great show overall. It's good to finally hear the new material, although MotP, Terrible Lie & the other classics are always awesome to hear live. The Ghosts numbers kicked ass.

This was my first time seeing a show from the soundboard, and I must say it was a great vantage point for the amazing production that we're seeing on this tour. We asked the tech for a setlist right after the show, but he wouldn't give it up since he had his notes on it that he needs for Inglewood. Right before the encore I overheard something to the effect of "we're cutting Love Is Not Enough".

Overall, the show was great, the blend of technology and music is exactly what Nine Inch Nails is all about, and I'm lucky to have the chance to experience it.

Great show! The guy who was trying to burrow into me/use his head as a battering ram into my shoulder/kick my legs out my under me, etc. was like a very annoying mosquito that I eventually was able to swat away and then really enjoy the show. This was my first of this tour and I loved the visuals. Solid performace as always...

This was one of the better line experiences as well - fans and staff were very organized making it a decent experience.

The show was awesome. It worth the trip from Québec! (Ok, I could have gone to a nearer show, but hey, California + NIN is so cool!). And I've got the best place in the arena, almost the nearest "seated" place.

I've got a question, what song was playing at exactly 9:00:15 PM ? Time when the earthquake occured. I could never have noticed it since I was jumping almost all the time. I think it was during Letting You, but I can't certify it. I know that at 9:07:50 PM, it was Head Down.

Great show. I was somewhere between 5-10 people behind rail on robin's side, and the energy was just killer. However, the drunk douchebags that thought they were better than everyone else pissed me off. It took me about 5 songs to realize I could avoid it if I backed up a little bit. Being drunk is awesome, but there's no excuse for some of the shit that was going on there. I was really thankful for all the slower songs in the middle of the show, because it made those assholes calm down a little bit.

As for the setlist, it had a lot of new stuff, which I was really happy with. The only thing I would have changed would've been the whole frail/closer combo (such a tease) and i would have axed the hand that feeds.

Favorite songs were The Warning, The Big Comedown, Ghosts 31 (Robin was blowing me away all night, and this song was the capper), and In this Twilight (the zero sum outro is really cool).

The only thing I wan to add to this discussion is how horrible the security was at this show. First they made me throw away the chain to my wallet, then got back in line to find out I had to remove my belt also. I guess I was going to take over the place with my belt or maybe hang my self. Who the fuck knows.

Then on top of that they were kicking people out left and right. They kicked one person out for climbing over a seat to get out of the row. The guy was trying to be nice and not have to make 10 people stand up and get out of his way. They kicked the kids out next to me for smoking a joint. No warnings just kicked them out. I'm not even sure they found or had any proof they were smoking. I was smoking at the same time and thought I was going to get booted also but the kids put up a fight and saved my ass. Thank you for that.

PLEASE STOP HAVING SHOWS IN OAKLAND. If in the Bay Area have a show at the Bill Gram. Its not as big but at least they're not going to take your belt or make you put out that joint.

Other than that, this was my 12th nin show and there was still something new. The light show was awesome, the audio was perfect, I couldn't have been happier. Trent was acting like it was '96 again throwing mic stands and keyboards all over the place. I thought those days were over but he proved me wrong last night.

Reading this is pretty funny. This was my first concert in California. I'm from Cleveland, so all the other NIN concerts I went to were there. My boyfriend and I both noticed that the crowd in Cali is waaaaaaaaay different than the crowd in Cleveland. In Cleveland, the crowd is younger (20s-30s), tougher and wearing a lot more black

I have to actually say that the security was awesome... I have never seen so many people stay afterwards to THANK the guards for their service. Our side (JMJ's) had great guys... ALWAYS had water, even one of the guards was singing along and rocking out. I thought they did a great job but I can't speak for the rest of the venue.

Great show. Lots of energy, it was fun to see TR's fancy lighting get bruised, then some guy had to come out and fix it before the encore.

It's so interesting that the pit was brutal but the presale line was pleasant (except for the part where we had to move from the ticket window to the secret entrance by the loading dock).

Anyhow, it was great to catch up with some friends I only see at shows.

there was even a "there's room there, you can take it" "no, i thought you wanted it" "oh, no i'm good" moment - fuckin weird, and funny

not everyone by me was dancing/moving around - but a lot of people were singing along, and there were only a few obnoxious hurt shoutouts

after some really horrificly fucked up actions by security at a show in Oakland in ... oh...'98 - which ended in fans rioting until they got their way (amazingly enough they didn't fully cancel the show - riot would've only gotten worse) - i decided i was never going back to Oakland... until the last NIN show... and, well, fuck, NIN and QOTSA - i couldn't stay away... and i gotta say - security is significantly better than it was 10yrs ago

however, an excellent alternative - with really cool security, much cheaper parking (free downtown after 6pm! a few blocks away) as opposed to the $25 i had to pay in Oakland, and decent sound - is the San Jose State Event Center - seriously


earthquake: i didn't feel it at all - no surprise up at the front (my sis, further back did feel a small bump, said the A/C vent over her shook a bit)

speaking of my sis - she went for a bathroom break during HLAH - and said all the security guards, the cops, and the old black ladies who did the wristbands earlier were all crowded into the doorways, rocking out and enjoying the lightshow

and i have to say - the lightshow, and interactive display was fucking amazing!
i hadn't been paying attention to the tour journals, so didn't really know what to expect other than something huge and elaborate - i had a great vantage point (almost floor to ceiling), and for the "full effect" you can only get by standing back - i could get that by looking at people's camera screens, and there were at least 5 in the air near me at all times

the set list was a pretty good mix considering how much material they have to choose from - i've heard most of the "rarely played"s at one show or another so i'm not too picky - ghosts made for a good breather, and it was awesome to really watch what incredible musicians they all are

and because HLAH was the closer before - there was a brief: shit, no, it's over already - until the lights stayed off - ITT is a good closer, but kind of a downer (slow and sad), i know a lot of people were sick of HLAH, but i kinda liked having that energetic finale


i don't like Sacto - but i'm tempted by Vegas

Great, amazing show!! We were on rail on JMJ's side. Pretty tame especially compared to the center. Even Justin had commented on how rough it got out there. We were by the medics so we saw all the injured people. Then two drunk fucks ran up and tried to force us to move, they were so annoying and wound up just making out, hollering and just being douches. Almost in LA, ill post more later, and some pix!

Awesome show-sucky audience. I was in section 116 and too many people were sitting through the concert. A lady behind me was yelling at me to sit down but I ignored her -stayed standing and enjoyed the show.

Venue security outside had no clue what the hell was going on. They all acted like this was the first show they have ever worked! Inside was a different story. The security on the left side were very curteous, professional, kept us safe and hydrated. Kudos to them!

I'll be the first to admit I wasn't the youngest on the floor, but far from the oldest. Out of ten NIN shows, this was the biggest bunch of complete fuckheads I've ever encountered. It doesn't sound like you & I were anywhere near each other, or perhaps I am getting old in the tooth ;p. I did meet three really nice guys beforehand who did their damndest to protect me once the drunken, self-entitled onslaught of assholes surged forward. It was sweet, until they got swept aside. I hope those three are ok. And the guy that offered me some of his water, too.

I really wish I had been left with a more positive opinion of Oakland, but, hey, I've got San Antonio, TX to look forward to. I hear it doesn't get any better than that in terms of not getting the crap beat out of you. No, really.

JessicaSarahS...I HEART U!!!! Awesome time! Great crowd! A big THX to the girls behind us who protected us from the crowd!

Was on rail near Robin. This show almost tops Toledo! Trent and Co. were CRAZY! They had so much energy and really kept us on our toes!

And did anyone else notice Trent doing some kind of chicken dance? Forget which song, but I SWEAR he was strutting like a peacock!

The Big Comedown was really great. Trent seemed to yell something to his crew, not sure if something malfunctioned or if he needed a protein shake! Just kidding.

One of my fav. shows! Great people in the presale line!

I was also on the rail near robin, purely amazing and worth the hours of wait in line to see that.

Nonentity, what kind of camera do you have and what settings? We couldn't get good shots to save our life up there!!

Haha, thanks! Yeah, I had to crop some because all I could see were stupid security guard heads! They're way too tall. I put most of my good Oakland pictures in that album now. But, I might post some so so ones after some good editing :p

The Greater Good is uploading. I didn't realize until now that my camera's set to record video on the lowest setting Sorry. And the guards, particularly the bald guy in the center, kept trying to keep us from recording video. You can see him in Vessel flashing his light at me. The nerve!! lol.

You guys all rock for all the great videos and pictures. I totally forgot my camera back in L.A. and my camera phone was with my friend Carolina who was busy waving her Chile sign!

I think (don't hate me Toledo friends) that this was my favorite concert so far.

So much great energy was being exchanged between the band and the crowd!

Not too many crowd surfers came over my head either. And again, a big thank you to the to M.A. girls behind me on the rail!
