I have the worse memory in the world so I'm not going to try the setlist.
Openers were The Frail and The Wretched, that was a big suprise!
There was a power cut about 7 or so? songs in which was very annoying. Lasted around 30 mins? Trent promised when they came back on, that they'd still play the full set. I think they did, but there was no encore.
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned already but Justin has cut his hair (i notice he hadn't at the Auckland show).

Compared to the previous show I saw (Year Zero tour), the show had just as much intensity, but was lacking alot of the fancy lighting and electronics of that tour.
Loved every minute and I pray it's not the last tour!

Having seen every tour the guys have done, I must say this topped it all.

The intensity of the "Self Destruct" tour, and the tightness of "Witha Teetha".

Even with the power-outage, it placed number one.

Now... to sleep.

All the HD footage I recorded from the barrier is going to take me at least a week to upload. It will be fucking worth it though!

LOVED the selist. Many of those songs like non entity, la mer and the fragile i heard for the first time.

I was up the back right in front of the lighting guy who I loved watching headbanging jsut as much as i loved watching the rest of the show.

man when the power went out I thought the world was gonna end.

It sucks that people blame the techies right away. Not everything is their fault.
So during that time I annoyed everyone by sitting on the railing infront of the lighting board lol.

Had a remarkable view of Burn...
La Mer... For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Absolutely epic show. No hard feelings about the power outtage. It happens and everyone was very cool about it for the most part. Nothing like loyal fans eh?

Really good show, it felt really chaotic..for want of a better word - creative compared to other nin shows. Heaps of guitar riffs and mini solo's that I haven't heard on previous tours - not sure if they were just going nuts or the guitars were just given a bit higher priority in the mix.

I also noticed the lighting guy rocking out - it was great to see!

Fucking fantastic show! I really thought TR would cut it short after the power went. he came out with a megaphone and told us all to wait until they had it fixed, said "the boys want me to tell you it's nto their fault"

When they finally got it sorted (over a half an hour later) he said "we don't intend on playing any shorter than we were going to originally" and instead of carrying on with Burn (the power went during the intro to that) they did 1,000,000 and then went back into Burn.

La Mer, The fragile and The Downward Spiral all kicked so much ass, it seems that all three of them sound absolutely amazing whenever they are played. Seriously they sound so good they have to be heard to be believed. The Fragile especially sounds just like the record but so loud and full and Justin and Robin do so well with their backing vocals.

I must say that this lineup sounds A MILLION FUCKING TIMES BETTER THAN THE PRIOR LINEUP. It's so good to hear Robin playing all the new shit because he can pull it off just liek TR does on the records. None of this half-assed shit that Aaron would blurt out in between leg spasms. Robin has subtlety and skill and can play beautiful guitar when he needs to and savage guitar when he needs to. Plus he's a fucking nice guy too. (Not that Aaron wasn't nice but he just wasn't a very good guitar player)

Meet Your Master was great, I really enjoyed it. It came across a little bit differently to the album even though it was effectively the same arrangement. The new Something I Can Never Have is lovely and you don't really miss those big drums (even though they are always tops when they're there) and it's good to hear the old arrangement of March of the Pigs (no synth intro, tighter guitar stuff in the verses)

Hmm what else... Yes it was FUCKING HOT in there, Trent even commented on it and told the security guards to get water into the crowd. Thankfully though it was the least violent NIN show I've seen at the Horden and even in the heart of the pit it wasn't too savage. I was abel to dance and mosh as necessary (just try standing still when they kick into the doom bit of The Downward Spiral!) and didn't hurt anyone/get hurt by accident.

Speaking of Hurt, there was none of that but I don't think TR was in the mood after the technical difficulties. I wish I could have seen a setlist to see what the variations were (Robin told us they changed some stuff around because of the mishap) but for some reason NIN crew are exceedingly beligerant when it comes to setlists. They're the only band in the world that seems to REALLY REALLY not want you to have their setlists in your hands. What's the deal?!? ∅??

But yes, in all it was a fantastic show (regardless of the tech issues) and it was my ninth and final NIN show for however long TR decided to put NIN on the shelf for. Thanks Laticia and Julia, it was great meeting you guys and I hope to see you in a NIN crowd again when they come back from the void! Peace out!

the only change was that 1,000,000 got placed before burn.

I like aaron's attitude when he plays and how he dosn't give a shit. but Robin is jsut better overall. I remember I saw him when guns and roses came out in 2008 and he was epic. he looked totalyl differnet with he's long hair and massive beard and he blew me away with the skill he had
and yeh the techies for some reason hate giving out setlists. i remember when it ended i turned around and asked the lighting guy (cause i was smackbang in front of the desk) but he wouldn't give it.

maybe its a test of theirs to see what people remember lol. no idea.

This show was fucking awesome although I am beginning to realise how fucking spoilt I am given how many shows I have been to.

I think the fact we know how much work that Trent puts in the production of the shows that when things don't work or the power goes out it brings the kids. I probably haven't giggled so much at a NIN show before.

The second set was brutal. Although part of me wonders whether Burn was the greatest thing to play given the recent tragic fires.......

This was a show that was on the verge of being something else before the blackout occurred.

A great day of queueing all around before the show. The usual suspects were there first thing and we moved the line about 5 times before picking up tickets so that we could take full advantage of the little shade there was. Much of the early afternoon was spent next to or in the Fox and Lion pub across from the venue.

Tickets were given out prior to the announced time of 4pm. Excellent organization and the guy doing tickets answered questions about when we were going to be let in.

Just after 6pm NIN security and venue staff started lining everyone up inside the gates to go into the venue, making certain to keep the order that we showed up in. Since I never queued for any of the LITS shows I went to, I dont know if this process was different from North America. However in Sydney it was excellent to have someone come out well in advance of when they were letting us in and be very very organized. We as fans who are there the whole day really appreciate it. The third rule of NIN tour is you must HAVE FUN. The first people were let into the venue at about 7:15pm.

Didnt expect much from Jaguar Love as I hadnt bothered to listen to them prior to the show. They were decent enough. A few of their songs reminded me of the Arcade Fire.

Set change was swift, lights, smoke machines, everything you'd expect to be tested was. The lighting rig is massive for a smaller venue like the Hordern. All the lights are white-white or tungsten (as I learned from Eve the expert standing next to me), and there are 7 rows of about 40 lights in pairs on the top of the stage and horizontal barred lights at the back. The barred lights at the back also go red and green during certain songs.

NIN on stage at 9:05pm. Starting with the Frail and the Wretched was a bit of a surprise, and th crowd was very into it. Wish went off and Discipline had everyone moving. March of the Pigs as usual set the crown into a frenzy, always the most violent song for the crowd of the set. There were a few errors that ended in a key board being pushed over, some liquid being poured all over said keyboard, the floor lights being kicked over and general destruction. Ilan must be especially tired running around to get on the second drum set or the keyboards. The timings during MOTP while he walks back to the main drums are flawless.

The keyboard was quickly removed and a new one set up. The techs definitely had their work cut out for them tonight. TR's tech was up and down on the stage fixing stuff a lot of the show. Great to hear Meet Your Master which was sound checked that day.

The show was really intense and the power going out seemed to loose a lot of momentum. The intro to Burn had been really cool, but pushing the wrong button didnt agree with the electrcity grid and the entire building went dark. Ilan kept playing for about 20 seconds before they stopped. A few of the guys sat on the stage for a minute before walking off realizing that it wasnt going to be an instant fix. Just watching the video on NIN's vimeo.. the thought had come to a few of us up front that if the power didnt come back it would be more than messy.
After a few minutes TR came back onstage with a mega phone and a couple of crew members holding a torches (flashlights) above his head. That was funny to see He mentioned that it wasnt anyone's fault and that he heard the bar was giving out free drinks to all of us. Not sure if that happened, or not, but up front security we good and giving out water all night.

Being the patient people that we were, the crowd entertained themselves being singing various songs en masse, including Waltzing Matilda, a full rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You and 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall. Thankfully the lights returned before the last one got very far into the song.

It took about 20 minutes for the power to come back on and about 10 after that for the gear to be recheck and the band returned to the stage for round #2. The second opener was 1,000,000 and they launched back into it as if there had been no pause at all.

The second try at Burn was a go. La Mer --> the Fragile was great. The end of the set where some of the older non radio single song get played is really enjoyable. No encore.. round #2 was wrapped up with HTF/ HLAH.

This show was really fantastic. If the power hadn't gone out I do wonder 'what if'. It was strange coming back to this venue as the first show I see this year, when the last show of 2007 was at the same location with a completely different line up of band members. As hard as it is to compare the evolution of the band between tours, this 4 member line up doesn't miss anything compared to when there was 5 of them. The slightly different arrangements and new intros to some songs are ace. However it would be good to get some more variation of the radio singles that are played at these shows. Maybe throw in Only or Closer sometime?

Unfortunate lowlights were the attention seekers standing next to me. Sigh.

LOVED THIS SHOW!

The start of the show was amazing, loved seeing Trent chuck a tanty and kick the lights off the stage, smash this keyboard with a mic stand and dump a bottle of water on it.

As we've established the lights went out at the beginning of Burn, just as the song kicks in and the lights were supposed to all come on, everything just went black. Ilan kept playing for quite a while, then the band hung around on stage an threw heaps of water out to the crowd. They disappeared for a while, then Trent came back with his megaphone, gave a little speech on how it wasn't our fault, or the bands and "the venue said something about free drinks for everyone, maybe you should all go to the bar" AWESOME.

I did start getting worried there for a bit, though. Some of the sing a longs were ace -"just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here... NAH NAH LAH LAH LAH NAH LAH NANA LAH LA LA"

"Round 2" was awesome, very brutal. The 1,000,000, Burn, Survivalism, Gave Up string especially. I Love watching Robin play, he pulls some great faces. I had a big LOL when Robin whacked the neck of his guitar on his mic stand, made an "oh shit" face and checked to see if Trent saw. My personal favourites were March of the Pigs, Terrible Lie, The Line Begins To Blur, and Non- Entity.

The chap from the nin camp keeping the presale line organised was good too, it was really great actually knowing what's going on, unlike the 2007 tour. He came out 10mins before we went in and laid down the rules "walking is good, running is bad" "it will be hot and squishy in there" (ok, those are my words, not his) and "have fun or I'll kick you out".

Despite things not going to plan, this is probably the best show I've seen yet. I certainly won't forget it.
