So glad I've been able to see them once before their break. It was an awesome show, I loved La Mer, The Downward Spiral, Non-entity, Survivalism, Wish and Reptile.

Disappointed at no Big Come Down, that's a favorite of mine.

Was a great show, the best of the tour so far. Everyone seemed a tad angry tonight with some destruction on the part of mr fink. And having the guys from dillinger escape plan on stage for wish was very cool.

Fucking awesome show. I so can't remember the set list but there was non-entity, suck, wish, terrible lie, downward spiral, reptile, la mer and BURN, WHICH WAS FUCKING AWESOME!! (if there was such thing as 'super-caps lock', i would have written awesome in it)

So so good, much better than the show at Hordern Pavilion couple of years ago.

For a second there I thought there wouldn't be an encore, which would have ruined it all (maybe not, but a little)

I think I remember Trent accidentally knocking over the keyboard/mic setup, then later the synth during Gave Up wouldn't work and he kicked it off the stage. He looked pretty pissed. I think a couple things just weren't working or were breaking.

Just got back in the door from this. It was great, first time I've seen NIN live. As a matter of fact, they were the only band I actually went to see at Soundwave.

Yes! I was at the show! And what a show it was too, definitely the best band I've seen live, period. Greg from the DEP was pretty unexpected, but he did an awesome job.

Can somebody post the full set list from this show, please?

No keyboards were accidentally knocked over. They were violently kicked off the stage, twice. After March of the Pigs and before The Hand That Feeds. The second time the techs scrambled to get them set back up and TR screamed at one of them to 'leave it, get the fuck outta here.' Lights were kicked over and mic stands thrown. The keyboard at the front was removed during the encore break.

Nowhere near the best show of the tour. It was good, but not great.

I was really happy when the crowd was not even a fraction as violent during Billy Talent as they had been in Melbourne the day before, who easily had the most violent pit. It was a ridiculously hot day and the venue had no shaded areas at all. Both the main stages were in full blazing sun until Alice in Chains came on.

Security at this venue were pathetic at best. One of the guys I was talking to up the front earlier in the day works for the security company that did this festival- said that most of the guys in front of the stage were working their first festival. It showed. They looked like they should be watching the crowd at a Billy Joel show over at the Entertainment Centre. No experience pulling people out of crowds. Thank you to JT who was standing in front of me for a lot of the show and lifted many crowd surfers over the rail. Thank you to the guy who I think is an organizer with Soundwave (the blond balding dude) for asking me if I was ok when I was kicked in the face.. and he was one of the few people passing out water. The security in front of the stage were much better in Melbourne. This show proved how all the water people in the crowd were getting at the solo shows (indoors) were coming directly from the band. Their crew again did put cases of it down by the rail but it didnt get passed around.

Having two of the guys from Dilinger Escape Plan come out during Wish was pretty cool. One of their guitar techs was tuning up prior to NIN's set so, it seemed that there would be a surprise guest(s) coming out.

My last show for a while. A few of my favourites were MIA last night. You cant win all the time. I still think the set lists here were more varied here than the LITS tour but not as much as in 2007- where clearly we were spoiled.

I have to say that I will happy to see shows on the US tour where aged overweight goths are happy to get drunk and keep their ass on the ground. This crowd surfing business is so done, get out of the 90s.

Anyway. get ready for La Mer / The Fragile to be posted on nin.com shortly as Rob was filming it on stage last night.

He also filmed Wish played during the encore with Greg (vocalist) and Ben (guitarist) from The Dillinger Escape Plan guesting.

Hopefully both get posted.

Great show, great sound (where I was anyway) and lots of energy/anger.

I was a little pissed too about The Big Come Down not being played, but given that it was played in Melbourne the night before and the fact that it *seems* interchangeable with Non-Entity (which we got), I suspected we wouldn't get it.

agreed. i saw them at the hordern in sydney 5 days ago and that show was better. not that soundwave was bad, it was great - although they had a few technical issues that made trent a bit pissed. and the sound was kinda variable-- reptile, burn, wish sounded AMAZING but march of the pigs... was it just me or was there not enough bass/too much drums? i couldn't even hear the melody until after the first verse, it just sounded like meaningless noise.

really sad not to see the big come down - love that one.

a stock-standard show perhaps, but i agree we were unusually spoiled during the year zero tour a few years ago.

*sigh* i hope he comes back one more time before that hiatus of his...

Good show to end my run of shows. Not my favourite - Melbourne Soundwave probably has that title - but very enjoyable and it was VERY COOL to see DEP up there on stage during Wish. Was surprised they actually sang most of the song and not just the chorus.

I really like NIN as a four piece, they've breathed some new life into old songs.

Venue was small and very little shade, crowd was pretty packed for NIN but they were pretty respectful. All soundwave audiences have been, it's been a change from the usual dickheads you get at Big Day Out and the like.

i agree, soundwave audiences have been fantastic, not just for nin but in general.

so who were the travelling forumers i met on the plane and at the airport? as promised, i forgot all your names, but ran into one of you up the front during nin. and saw the guy who sat near me on the plane crowd surfing at one point.

Whilst Wish was fucking cool and awesome to see 2 more n@@bs up on stage, it did not sound particularly different to the regular 4 or 5 piece arrangement.

did anyone see the hole rubin poked in the right guitar stack after the normal set with his mic stand? he was majorly pissed during the last 2 or 3 songs of the normal set, throwing the guitar many times and walking off stage for most of 1 song.

thing is i think the trouble was with his pedals, as that's where the tech's headed during the encore break (as they had checked everything else twice by then!)

seemed ok for the encore. although he did a great throw of his guitar over his head after hurt, no look straight at the stack!

Not as good as the Melbourne show - I think Saves The Day were probably better on the day but NIN were never likely to compete with them anyway.

Wish was good but clearly needs more guitars. I think about eight would probably do it.

Entirely too many YZ/TS songs, but the Broken content was good. I'd make a graph if I had Mafu.'s plotting hard-on.

Yeah, the lack of YZ/TS songs really made it awesome. I'd only ever seen the band post YZ (on the aussie tour just after YZ was released) so it was awesome to be able to see all the older songs before NIN kinda fade away for a while.

other than that it was a pretty even spread - mostly from the slip and downward spiral, i'd say.

pity. more fragile would have been nice. but broken is always ultra cool. and i don't want to be a whinger, the only way he'd make me happy is if he played every song he'd ever written :-p

A few photos
