ANYWAY...

I ran into Encore (a.k.a. suicidecontrition) at a beer vendor on the lawn about 20 min. before SSSC started, so we only had a few minutes to chat while we walked towards the pavilion, but he seemed like a really cool guy. He showed me the awesomeness he had signed by the band at the EDLC donor meet-and-greet, but I'll let him tell that story since I don't want to spoil it for you.

But, still...nice job finding something cool for them to sign, man!!! Sorry I couldn't make it into the city to hang with you guys. Hope you're havin' fun!!!

SSSC was awesome, doing their usual thing...with the unique addition of Tom Morello inviting three of the guys from Anti-Flag to come sing onstage with them for their last song, whatever the "Nobody Moves Till We Say Go" track is called. Which, judging by the straightforwardness of their album title may actually be the name of the song, lol.

During their set I was in my assigned seat off to the extreme right of the stage, just behind (and kind of beside) the pit. But I spotted some empty seats one section over and waited for a change of the guards and then sneaked over, so for the rest of the show I was filming from a perfectly-centered location a little behind the pit. It's super badass footage, I'll definitely post it as soon as I can, but that'll be a week or two. Sorry!!!

I haven't watched all my footage yet, but that's copied from the setlist/Twitter/whatever thread and looks right to me.

I don't know how in the hell I didn't anticipate "Home" being the opener in Pennsylvania...it seems so obvious in hindsight, especially after Trent's Twitter post last night. Nice touch.

And "Somewhat Damaged" right after that...two openers for the price of one!!! I was especially glad they played that, too, because my only other footage of it from this run was stolen, so as long as I make it home with my tapes intact I'll consider myself redeemed, lol.

"The Frail" into "Metal" seems kind of...off (in print), but it worked really well. Definitely a cool surprise, even in the absence of "The Wretched," which always KILLS.

Trent introduced "I'm Afraid of Americans" by saying that he'd last performed it at the Post-Gazette Pavilion in '97 which had me thinking he was confused, but a guy I met at the show clarified that he believed Trent had joined Bowie there as a special treat during Lollapalooza. Can anyone confirm/deny this? Must've been amazing...can't believe I'd never heard of it before!!!

I had a bried chuckle to myself when Trent introduced "The Fragile" as "a song off The Fragile, lol. Sort of like a few shows back when he introduced "The Downward Spiral" as "a song off The Downward Spiral. Thanks for the heads-up, Trent.

Anyway, he seemed very clear on the point that they'd never be playing here again -- which is always sad to hear anywhere -- but it was a HELL of a last show for the area!!!

Can't wait for Charlotte!!!

Big thanks to jessamineny, I got my ticket from her and she split the M&G package with me. She made my day!

The M&G was kind of disappointing. It was pretty rushed, didn't really get to talk to the band members, had to take a group photo with like 20 people...BUT I can't complain, since it IS just a bonus for a donation, and they were running late from traffic. It was still pretty sweet, ESPECIALLY the soundcheck. The pre-sale people got in before the donors for the concert (even donors WITH pre-sale), but I still managed to snag a pretty good spot 3rd row by JMJ (who is probably the most content, chill person I've ever met).

Soundcheck Setlist:

2. La Mer
3. The Good Soldier
4. Reptile

SSSC was great, as usual. Not sure that Anti-Flag coming out to sing on the last song really added much, they seemed like they didn't want to be there and didn't really get any response from the audience.

NIN was nothing short of perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better setlist. JMJ was really feeling it tonight, he rocked the fuck out. Trent seemed in rare form as well, doing some weird shit. I'm pretty sure he cut his hand when throwing a guitar after Terrible Lie. And Ilan...and Robin...everything just came together, I guess. This was, without a doubt, the best show I've ever been to, even beating out my other 8 NIN shows. "Hurt" was pretty sad knowing that it is quite possible the last NIN song I'll ever see...I shed a manly tear. But what a way to go out.

Left after the first JA song. I've seen them before on this tour, I was exhausted since I got up at 6:30, and they were turned up waaaaaay too loud to be enjoyable for me.

EDIT:

I saw several people with HD camcorders getting footage. Hopefully some good audio will pop up...I'd love to see a full concert edit authored! And it'd be cool if all the footage was made public for us, if possible.

Also, what the fuck was with the weather? I was heading west and it was raining so hard that I couldn't see ANYTHING even with my wipers on full speed. It was like the fucking heavens were collapsing. Then I cross the bridge into WV...the rain stops, and the ground is completely dry. WTF.

And driving home on US-22 W was a bitch and a half. Winding, narrow road that I'm not very familiar with, combined with several deer crossing my path and tons of patchy fog that reduced my visibility to about 30 feet...what a shitty time.

People, as far as I'm concerned, this was THE show to see. I am currently physically bruised and sore in places that I never thought would be sore, my throat cannot make ANY sound, I smell like the commingled sweat of 100 people (including Dave Navarro and Perry Ferrell,) and two beers that were spilled on me. I bit my tongue and bled on the floor. My eyes burn from sweat.
This was the best show I've ever been to. Incidentally, this has been the best day of my life.
I'm going to pass out now. When I awaken, I will fill you guys in on all the awesome things that happened today.

great great great great great time. met a lot of cool people in the pre-sale line (non-donor) and got a solid spot 2nd row from rail between TR and robin.

a big thank you to the people around me- you know who you are, and i could'nt have asked for a better group of people to experience my last NIN show with. everybody kicked ass looking out for eachother, and aside from the ass holes behind us who insisted on violently moshing for EVERY FUCKING SONG, the crowd was one of the best i've been a part of.

also, not like this will get read by someone it pertains to but whatever: a MEGA HUGE CAPS LOCK THANK YOU is in order for the security staff on the rail. they took super good care of us, making sure everybody was ok, getting us plenty of water, being friendly & making conversation before the show/ in between bands, and just being generally awesome.

the only thing show was i was disappointed with was the lack of TDTWWA, which was soundchecked last night. its been the holy grail of NIN songs for me and i thought tonight would finally be the night but no dice. we did get "the becoming" though, which IMO made up for it, as that is also one of my absolute favorite songs i'd never seen before.
other highlights included:
- i'm afraid of americans
- trent's ridiculous smile when he saw the "stay positive" rainbow banner the people in front of us made (sorry i forgot your names!)
- somewhat damaged
- terrible lie: when they played "home" for the opener instead of "now i'm nothing", i thought for sure we weren't going to get this one, so it was a nice surprise. i've seen it at every show i've been to, but the sheer intensity of it never fails me

all in all i'd say that this was a hell of a last show for me. i'll admit to being super emotional, and i'm honestly still in a bit of disbelief that this was the last NIN performance i'm going to be seeing, at least for a long ass time.

while not necessarily my super ideal near impossible set list (basically a set of WITT, ruiner, last, HIS, etc.), the set that DID get played, along with the people i was with and the overall experience were as close to perfect as i can imagine.

Made the drive from beautiful Columbus, Ohio, since this was the nearest show. When the dates were announced, I was really holding out for a Cleveland show. Honestly, I was OK with my last show (Schottenstein Center in Columbus) being the last time I saw NIN, until I starting seeing the amazing setlists from this tour. Ended up buying lawn seats just so I could be there (and we ended up upgrading those to the pavilion for ten bucks ... maybe the best ten dollars I have spent in my life).

SSSC made me hate Audioslave. It's a shame Tom Morello wasted his time with that. I think I prefer SSSC even to Rage, and if what I saw live translates to the album, it's going to be amazing.

I had some fears after seeing some of the more pedestrian setlists of late. I saw LITS twice, so I really didn't want to see a set heavy in songs from The Slip. Fortunately got the rarity-filled setlist I was hoping for ... Home, Somewhat Damaged, The Downward Spiral, I'm Afraid of Americans, Metal, The Fragile, etc. Hard to complain. One of the best setlists I've seen overall. Only a few songs I've seen elsewhere that made me jealous ...

I'm a Jane's Addiction fan who never saw them in their heyday. So glad I saw the complete lineup. Eric Avery is amazing, and I can't imagine them without him.

Frankly, I was amazed at the size of the crowd. I really didn't think NIN could still draw that many people (with some help from Jane's, I'm sure). I'm sure there were plenty making the drive from Columbus, Cleveland, Philly, etc.

Coincidentally, my take on the crowd was that it was predominantly NIN-heavy. Things thinned out just a bit for JA.

I really can't even remember how many NIN shows I've seen in the past 15 years. This was a fitting ending.

Yes, remind me never to obey Google Maps again. My GPS picked a different route, but I went with U.S. 22 to get there.

On the advice of a Columbus friend who knew the area, I ended up going home via Wheeling, W.Va., and hugging I-70 all the way home. Infinitely better.

Glad you made it home, though!

Oh, hell...I almost forgot.

The end of "Survivalism" blending in with the beginning of "Echoplex" was OUT-FUCKING-STANDING.

Trent kept singing the "ooh, I've got survivalism" bit over and over at the end of the song like usual, except this time he was assembling the drum sequence that begins "Echoplex" simultaneously while singing that part on the beat. Very fucking cool.

And "March of the Pigs" was a bit different, too. During the second piano break, at the end/middle of the song he just sang the "doesn't it make you feel better?" part, paused for a bit, and then went right into the "all the pigs, all lined up" segment without ever singing the part about the pigs winning and sleeping soundly, etc.

Not sure I've ever seen that done before.

Fuckin sweet show, even though the security took my 'Hey Robin Finck,Sign My Chinese Democracy CD" sign.

I was glad to see Janes but no way could they top NIN.

To the guy who was born in Buffalo,and who had the sister who bought the $1,000 package,thanks for giving us a jump in the parking lot after the show.

Did I mention there was a semi circle pit on the lawn?

Got the whole show minus the beginning of hurt as my battery died and then came back to life at the end of the song.

Yeah, I didn't make any mention of them since I was pressed for time as other people were waiting to use the hotel lobby computer here, but Jane's Addiction was fucking stellar. It was cool to see "One Percent" again after the pseudo-D.C. show the other night, too.

I hope someone has good audio of at least their first song or just the intro before it, btw...like a total dunce I forgot to turn my mic on while I was filming the little "I wish I saw them before they broke up" screen projection that starts their set. D'oh!!! I'd LOVE to fix that someday.

I've been watching the NIN set on my tiny camcorder screen with a crappy, single speaker...man, I'm DYING to see this shit on a REAL television and to hear it in stereo. It looks and sounds INCREDIBLE.

A few notes in chronological order:

Trezzie added some extra profanity to "Terrible Lie" with the bit about "security and fucking pride," and he seemed to be checking his hand to see if it was bleeding (cue flashback to "The Hand That Feeds" @ Lollapalooza). Could anyone up close explain what happened and whether or not he actually bloodied himself?

At the end of "Terrible Lie" (which he was INTO beyond belief) he not only knocked over his mic stand with the guitar neck but then proceeded to toss the guitar away, too. Now we're talkin'!!!

During that second piano break in "March of the Pigs" he didn't just sing the first line, pause, and then go into the end section, he actually said, "now doesn't it make you feel fucking better?" and then paused for effect before adding a few moans which culminated in a deep, throaty growl which climaxed with the explosion of the "all the pigs, all lined up" segment. Fucking WAY cool.

The speech before "I'm Afraid of Americans" was: "Thank you very much...we're Nine Inch Nails, we're gonna play some weird shit tonight. I played this song, in this place, in 1997 with my friend David Bowie. This is, uh, this is one of his songs that we kind of warped [wrote?]." Anyone out there sure exactly what that last word was?

Anyway, just thought I'd share. People are waking up and starting to check out so I'm off to hide in a corner and watch more of the show now, lol.

It was his first concert, so going through the m&g jmj told trent, "Its this kid's first concert. How about that." To which Trent said, "Well you know what that means?"
My brother didn't really know what to say, but a beat later trent responded with, "BOOBS! They'll just be there." Epic.

i took a picture of Trent's smile from when he saw the sign, he's staring right at me (i was right behind them), i also snapped one of him reading the sign.. it was pretty sweet.....

anyways, i thought the meet & greet was great, i thought it was classic with the looks on the guys faces when my wife handed them her Care Bears birthday card to sign, i don't think they knew what to think & they all kept asking "so who is this for?"

also, Perry commented on my wife's sign (it said "keepin it weird") talking about how great it was, then when she turned it over and they read the back (it said something like "in the middle of a dave & perry sandwich would be like heaven") the smiles on their faces was priceless......

and about the setlist.... i've always hated Hurt live, never could stand it, however, i thought it was the PERFECT way to end that set, it was an amazing way to end an amazing set

@Hazekiah - yes, his hand was bleeding pretty good, i don't know what happened but it was all bloodied most of the set

Was that longer than normal? Man, it felt longer...

Couldn't have asked for a better setlist, pretty much everything I was hoping for this tour: Americans, Metal, Do Not Want This, Becoming (had to see JMJ rocking the finger cymbals)... It was also a good complement to Detroit, not much overlap, though this show really blew that away. Nice to see Robin doing better again, everyone just nailed it and Trent really seemed into it.

And I'm so glad we got the encore this time, Hurt really does belong to end the setlist (rather than 3-4 from the end as is traditional), it was an incredible finish. If this was really the last NIN show I'll ever see, then I'm happy it was this one.

Thanks, I had some really tight zooms but couldn't really see what happened or whether or not it was actually bleeding. I'll look more closely when I finally see it on a decent-size screen.

I remember all that from the JA show but had no idea about the context, btw...good stuff, thanks!!!

It wasn't really any longer than usual, I think (it always seems to fill a 90 minute tape and MAYBE require a backup tape for the last song), it was just a jam-packed, non-stop show.

well, he said 97 and it was october of 95 when the bowie/nails tour was here. i honestly cant tell you if they actually sang it together. but i know they didnt do it at lolla.

So, here's my story. It will be long and disjointed. When we got to the venue, I passed out the crayons and coloring pages that I brought with me. Made some friends and hung out for an hour or so. We had a lot of fun once the whole deal started, waiting in lines, etc. I managed to be one of the first people in just about every line, which was cool. I was also in line (and spent the majority of the day with) a lovely girl named Anni. So, lots of joking and laughing. btw, we were all $1000 donors, so we had a great time with that - only ~50 $1000 donors at our venue, so not much crowding at all - might I add that the woman in charge of coordinating the donors was amazingly bootylicious! I would not have found her extremely attractive (although she was still good-looking) but the way she rolled those hips with every step certainly improved the evening. I think her name was Keely? Very friendly and very upbeat. Not a big deal, but definitely something to make an already-great night a bit more pleasant.
The meet and greet was great. I brought a guitar pedal - one of my favorites: a Devi Ever Legend of The Fuzz pedal, which can be seen in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRv0YwsS ... re=related
You can see the nifty Legend of Zelda NES cartridge graphic on the pedal. The video doesn't show the full potential, though. The thing sounds like a fried atari with insane amounts of stutter. I thought it was an obscure pedal that nobody had heard of, and I wanted it autographed. Well, tuns out ALL four of them had heard of it, used it and really talked about the pedal with a sense of reverence. Robin talked with me for about half an hour, about many things, but largely about Devi Ever (apparently a post-op transsexual, which is pretty cool) and other guitar talk. He told me that in fact he used the exact pedal I had on his pedalboard. This was evidenced at soundcheck when he called me out BY NAME, tilted up the pedalboard on stage and showed it to me! Even held it up in place so I could get a picture! This was clearly not enough, so let's get back to the meet and greet where Trent talked to me about the screening that I had planned for Pittsburgh and how it went down - he actually knew what was going on with it! Very cool. I felt very satisfied that my efforts and the efforts of the NIN community at large are respected and are matters of interest to Trent. I also got to compliment JMJ onstage (soundcheck) about his awesome hot pink shoelaces. He thanked me. In conclusion, all four of them were so extremely nice and seemed genuinely glad to be there and interested in all the fans individually, it really just shocked me.
The dinner was, unfortunately, not with the band as the whole thing was running late. Still, good food. With the exception of anything vegan. My advice to any other $1000 donors is to stay away from the vegan dogs + fries.
We were herded into NIN soundcheck and then herded out before SSSC's soundcheck! That pissed me off, as I really wanted to see them. Then, to top it off, we were not allowed in to see SSSC's set! Well, I was hanging out by the entrance to the pit, so I still caught most of their actual set, just not from the pit, where I would have been rocking out. I suppose it's for the best, given my condition today.
Between SSSC's soundcheck and their set, there was much alcohol consumption - drank 5 beers in about half an hour, then I started wandering. I had just purchased my 6th beer, when Hazekiah ran up and offered to pay for it. I was buzzed and clueless - I thought you were trying to take my beer, so I (being particularly happy with the evening and in a generally great mood) was attempting to give you the beer and I was going to buy another. Then I figured out what you were saying. It was not my only retarded moment of the night. Had one more beer after that - would it kill them to have something a bit higher class than Corona?
At this point, we were being herded backstage. Also, Anni and I were getting considerably closer. It was a great time feeling more and more anxious and full of disbelief as we got closer to the backstage area. Just about everything was a blur from that point on. Highlights were: Rob asking me for my camera, so that he could get me some shots from a different vantage point - Thanks, Rob!!! Ummm, I was at the back, stage right. I was rocking the fuck out - full-body headbanging. You may see a couple panels of the lighting rig on stage right begin to swing at random. That's because I fucking accidentally smashed into them a few times. With my skull.
We were herded off the stage at the start of THTF. I moshed the fuck out of HLAH. Let me say right now that I apologize to anyone I may have bumped into during this song and Jane's set - I made it a point to apologize when I could. I got punched a few times, which is a different matter, but I'm ok with it.
Jane's rocked. I had so much fun (bit my tongue, though

) I always wanted to hear Ted, Just Admit It... live. I did and it was awesome. It's always been my favorite Jane's song and with the clips from my favorite movie (Natural Born Killers) it was perfect. Perry going off about how jobs are bullshit and how nobody should work for anyone else during Pigs in Zen sort of hit home since, as some of you know, I recently quit my job as a librarian.

Unfortunately, NO NIN fans joined us at Cambodican for food - not even Anni and Sarah. Still, we had a good time before they had to leave. We had a very nice kiss in the parking lot and the entire day left me almost satisfied, but still wanting just a bit more of everything. It was perfect.

Also bought 5 shirts, a poster, stickers, other stuff.

Bruises: left eye; left side of neck; left shoulder; right armpit to ribs; right knee; right shin.

I was praying for The Big Come Down, which would have made it the most perfect playlist ever, but it wasn't meant to be.

What an intense show. All three bands' energy seemed to be through the roof.

Meet & Greet: I really enjoyed getting to know some of the other people there since we were in line with each other for about four hours of the day. Justin and Robin are just so down to earth. It was fun just chit chatting with them. My nervousness from walking up and meeting Trent carried over to Ilan when I called him Justin by mistake. He laughed it off after I appologized and we talked for a bit. What an awesome experience. Props to the one guy for having the balls to aknowledge Trent's short stature and jokingly squat down next to him. Surprised he didn't get a fist thrown in his face.

SSSC= Let's just say I will for sure be buying their album when it comes out. The things Tom Morello can do with a guitar are just amazing. I loved the comment Tom made about getting people to stand up. I think it went "Stand up. This isn't a motherfucking Toby Keith concert. Get the fuck up."

NIN= This is where things got interesting for me. I was in Section 1 right behind the pit. Two girls showed up about five minutes before Trent & Co. went on stage. Both were trashed. The worst trashed of the two started crying when she realized how close she was to the stage. I could hear some of what the other one was saying to her and this is what I caught, "Trent's here for you. See all these other poeple? He doesn't care about them. Just you. Wait until the love of your life comes out..." blah blah blah. She cried and fell to the floor about half a dozen times. Anyway. I loved the setlist. It was packed full of energetic songs. The crowd was really into it as well which made the experience even better. I was supprised to look back and see how many people there were. The lawn looked packed.

Jane's= I'm not too familiar with most of their songs but they put on one hell of a performance. Eric Avery is insane on that bass.

To all asking about how Trent cut his hand...it was at the end of Terrible Lie, I think when he threw his guitar. He immediately winced in pain, looked like whatever he did hurt like a bitch. I was actually worried it was a worse injury, the way his face looked when he was on the ground. Maybe cut on the strings? Then he just got right back up and acted like it never happened. You could see it bleeding during MOTP.

I'm dead. My throat is raw, my head is still spinning, my neck and shoulders won't move from all the thrashing and headbanging I did (esp during burn, I could fucking feel my brain hitting my skull and I didn't fucking care). Ugh, what a day.

We drove from western NY, somewhere over 4 hour drive. Came down the night before and stayed with a friend that lived on the other side of Pitts-land, so it was an hour and a half drive to the show. Got there around 2:30, and was stopped by security before we even got in to park. They fed us shit about nobody is allowed in to park until it opens at 5. Yeah fucking right. I tell them I have a pre-sale ticket and they are available at 4 (as said in the e-mail), and they asked if I had a VIP pass. I explained I'm not one of the donors, I have a pre-sale ticket, which is available at 4. "The box office doesn't open until the parking lot does at five. Come back then." NO, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M SAYING... Finally, one guy chimes in and says "4 eh? then come back at 3:30 (an hour later)" So we turn around, go to a Kmart to waste time, come back at 3:30. Now security is at the road, stopping people. I tell them my story, pre-sale ticket, 4pm, guards said come back at 3:30. I get met with more of the same "not open till 5, leave" and after being laughed at about the 3:30 thing, "he only told you that because the shift change at 3, he just didn't want to deal with you." My boyfriend, who could intimidate hulk-Trent, looked him square in the eye and said "Is that what you're doing too then? You just don't want to deal with us?" The security guard VERY QUICKLY went to check with the other one, and I look over and whisper "behave". He comes back and says only people for the VIP treatment were allowed in, we have to come back at 5, good day. We roll our eyes and ask if we can park off to the side to wait to go in an park. They told us we can't park on their property, so (For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen I love this man) my boyfriend backs up onto the highway, feet away from the entrance but off their property, pulls off the road and parks. We sat and watched Wall.E on his PSP, using my iPod radio transmitter to hear it through the car stereo, and having a cute loving time. 15 minutes later, the security guard waves us over, has someone on his radio, and says "you're here for the fanclub pre-sale, right?" yes, that's what I've said, how many times? He radios back that we are, and says we can go ahead and park. THANK FUCKING GOD, WE CAN FINALLY PARK, AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER. Apparently people for pre-sale didn't have as much of a problem and were able to come in far before us. Ugh.
But onto the GOOD stuff.

Had some fun times in line, throwing my boob skin at my man (had a sunburn on my chest and it was finally peeling), talking about hijacking the Cricket SUV and getting into the venue, and about screen printing our own livenation shirts. I forgot to ask if our new friends in line went to ETS or nin.com, so idk if I'll ever get to talk to them again, but if you're reading this, HI!!!!

(oh, again, I was the girl with a mohawk and green NINJA headband, boyfriend was, um, the big guy with a beard and bandanna on his head, leaning up against me so we could sit up comfortably)

We could hear the entire soundcheck from just off to the side of the venue, if that tree wasn't in the way we could have watched it too. Getting down TO the pit was a pain, every single person had to check not just out GA PIT bands, but our ticket. All 6 people, from the end of the vendors to the opening to the pit. One back from the rail, Robin's side (more between Robin and Trent) People around me on the floor were cool. Guys to my left went to the Erie show that I have on my tat, and we talked about how fucking awesome it was they he came down for Piggy (and I shared my story of holding his hand).

My boyfriend is a huge Morello (spell that right?) fan, as he loved Rage but never got to see them. So he was psyched to be right infront of him for SSSC. The imperial march started, and I didn't tell him ahead of time that they open like that, because I knew it would blow his mind. And it did. hehe. SSSC was on top of their game, everyone seemed into it, and my boyfriend was going nuts. He even started jumping during Nobody Moves(till we say go) and got embarrassed because nobody around us was jumping too. I said people do, so don't worry about it. Do what you want and enjoy. So he did for the second time around, I was so happy knowing how into it he was and how much he enjoyed it. $99 well spent for his pit ticket!

Then the smoke, oh the smoke, pouring out, getting ready for NIN. My boyfriend (I'm getting tired of typing that out, so Jory) said he had heartburn from all the pot smoke, and I laughed and said the stage smoke will mellow it. It's such a soothing feeling and smell, every time I experienced it, I would get flashes of how each of my shows began. The excitement, and energy, everything comes flooding back when you're surrounded in that delicious pre-show stage smoke.
Then I hear it, the opening guitar (noise) as Robin walks out. Home! I never got to hear home before! I nearly started to cry right then and there, and Jory grabbed my hand tight. I've experienced 6 shows total, but just as nothing can compare to your first show, nothing could compare to my last show. As I sang every word to every song, the two most influential and important men of my life were there (btw, I mean Trent and Jory). It was surreal during sentimental songs, where as I was simultaneously sining along with Trent for the last time, and singing to Jory. That song he said was off The Fragile, I can't remember the name (Trent is so silly sometimes :p), was especially special for me, as it felt like a narrative for our relationship. We held eachother close, and sang the lines to one another, and blah blah sappy love crap, it was awesome.

I don't know what got into me during burn, pent-up rage toward society I suppose, but I exploded. I thrashed, I screamed, I snarled and I headbanged so hard I could feel my brain making contact with my skull in the front (on the right side because of the way I was turned toward Trent). My vision actually got a little blurry, but I couldn't stop. It was fantastic (and apparently a little scary if you ask Jory, lol)

But the peak of the night was hurt. Now, I've been to 6 shows total, each one he played hurt. It's a touching song, but after 5 times, I figured enough already, replace it with one we haven't heard. I was wrong. Oh god was I wrong. I was taken back to how I felt, long ago, when I would be an emo little kid up in my room listening to it. Blah blah emo kid etc, it was.... idk how to explain it... I sang along, and felt every word as it flooded out of me, I was a pussy and started crying. Not only because of the song, but knowing this was the last time I would hear NIN live. My last live show. And he ended it with the first (and closest to me) song I ever heard. After Trent walked off the stage, I collapsed into Jory's arms. For hours after, I was completely drained. Physically, mentally, emotionally. I had to sit on the back rail during most of Jane's set (glad I got to see them before) but made myself stand up for songs I knew.

Got a shirt between NIN and Jane's. Both booths were out of my #1 and #2 pick for shirts (green wave goodbye and black tour with symbol and wave goodbye on the back) so I got the NIN logo NIN|JA tour dates shirt. I wanted one with dates, because I'll never forget the two shows I got to see, I just really wanted one that said wave goodbye. Hopefully there will be some in the merch.com shop

Drove home, got about an hour out and needed to pull over to sleep a bit. The only exit for miles was some bum-fuck town even smaller than where the show was, and the only parking lot was at a church with a graveyard surrounding it. It was kinda creepy, but the dark side of me loved it. Rested the rest of the ride home, because I was sick before the show, so I was dying after it. Still can barely talk, but singing (and at times, screaming) every word of every song at my last NIN show is worth never being able to talk again.

I only wish I could have gotten to meet Trent (didn't have money to donate, as it is we're living off practically nothing and moving back with my parents in a month because we can't even afford rent now), just for a moment, to thank him for everything he's done. For saving my life.
Some naive part of me thinks "hey, maybe he'll see this post and know." Oh, if only.

Thanks to everyone I hung out with in the wee hours of the morning in the long line of cars. I appreciate you all saving me a place on the rail after they let the M&G people into the pit -- not having rail on my birthday would have been a real bummer.

My favorite moment of the concert was during "Head Like a Hole" when the mosh pit opened up several rows back. The poor pit security guards didn't know what to do with themselves. They kept standing up on the rail steps looking at the melee with wide eyes, and you could see the thoughts racing through their mind: "Holy shit! What the fuck do I do? Can I do anything? Holy shit!" I just shot JT a knowing grin. Highly amusing.

That was some of the best energy on stage that I've seen at any of the shows this tour. Fantastic. Can't wait for tonight.

What a fan-fuckingtastic show! Got to meet Encore and Killaya and other cool folks. Was on the rail in front of Robin, wish I could've gotten a pic of Robin's face when he saw the funbook pic of L. Ron Hubbard colored to look like an alien that the girl next to me held up. Priceless! Everybody's coloring book pages were epic. And everybody on our side was supercool, everybody was rocking the fuck out without hurting each other or pushing or punching or anything. Even on the rail I had room to jump up and down, it was great. And Sick, I saw you and your boyfriend going crazy to the left of me!
And I think Trent did cut his finger on a string, he was kinda holding it funny but it wasn't gushing blood or anything. Which song was it when he came over to Robin's side and they were playing together? Did anybody get a pic of that?
And did any of you meet and greet people see the presale people up on the hill spying on you? Somebody figured out that you could see into the pavillion thing from a little hill near the parking lot, and we all waved at the band members and they waved back, but then security ordered us off the hill and then watched us like hawks because somebody tried to take pics through the fence lol.

I'm just gonna crosspost over here what I wrote on nin.com:

I don't even know what to say right now; allow me to attempt to explain how awesome this show was. (LONG POST AHEAD!)

It was my 7th and final show, and my boyfriend and brother and I were first in line at 12:30 am. We waited all day, had an amazing time in line, colored meathead coloring book pages (Rob posted a picture of the one I gave him from the rail on his twitter... we were also the people who got the meathead coloring book pages collected from us in Toledo last year, haha) and myself and she_shines92 (Rachel) made a banner with a big rainbow that said "stay positive"-

So finally after 18 hours of waiting we get into the venue and find ourselves at the center rail in front of TR. I had been on rail before, but in front of Robin, so I didn't quite know what to expect from this position. SSSC was awesome as they were in Clarkston, I got some videos and photos of them I'll upload later.

Someone saw the first two songs on the setlist while the roadies were putting them on the stage so I kew what to expect... fog machines come on, my pulse goes nuts, I hear Robin's guitar intro to Home and I started screaming my head off.

The show. Was. Phenomenal. The best show I have ever seen.

The pit was rough where we were, probably because we were centered, but you could hear everyone screaming along with all of the songs and it was just amazing. I had friends all around me, to either side and behind me, and it made the experience all the more memorable.

I had been holding in tears since the start of the show, and during The Fragile, I lost it. I couldn't help it. Unfortunately, my sobbing coupled with the crush and the fact that I had only gotten 20 minutes tops of sleep in line lead to me not being able to regain my breath and I had to get pulled off the rail at the start of Wish. I am unbelievably disappointed in myself for that- I waited all day and didn't even make it to the end of the show up front? But it is what it is. I got right back in the pit farther back on JMJ's side, regained my breath, and ventured back towards the middle of the pit during the end of THTF because I knew HLAH would be next. I ended up crowd surfing during the middle of HLAH. I've only done it once before, not at a nin show, and had a bad experience, but this was different. Very fun, almost made it worth having the leave the rail. Apparently the (totally fucking awesome) security guy who was in front of my brother and boyfriend, who had been on either side of me on the rail, was like "Dude, that's your sister!" Haha.

So then obviously I reached the front through surfing and went around to the back of the pit again and wormed my way back into the middle for the end of HLAH and Hurt. I started crying again during Hurt because I knew it was the last song I'd ever (or at least for a very long time) see nin play live. The girl next to me looked sympathetic. After the band left the stage I butted my way back up to the rail and grabbed my boyfriend and started crying harder. We ended up having to leave before JA for several reasons, one of which was that I was crying so hard I felt like I was going to make myself sick. We loitered around the entrance to the pit for a while, talked to Moebius and Rachel while I cried, exchanged hugs, promised to see each other "on the next tour", whenever that will be, if it happens at all. I am so thankful for all the people I've met during my time going to shows and being a part of this community... to the people I finally got to meet in person today: Rachel, Erin, "the twins", you girls are awesome and made the wait enjoyable. To old friends: Jenn, Hollie, I will miss going to nin shows with you. Love you girls.

Random notes about the show:

Trent was bleeding from one of his fingers, I think he sliced it open during Somewhat Damaged.

Lots of energy and anger on the stage. Trent seemed really into the show, said "thank you" a lot.... the pause before The Fragile where he was "getting in the mood" for the song was interesting, and that was the most emotional performance of Hurt I've ever had the pleasure of seeing live.

Rachel and I waved our banner at TR throughout the show but he didn't see it until after I got pulled out

But at the end of the show, we found a roadie who said he'd take it to Rob. Me and Rachel signed it and then some of our friends did too. Hope they got it.

Trent threw his water bottle to me during the start of the show- it's crumpled now because I was hanging onto it for dear life but it'll go nicely with the two bottles I have from Robin Finck last year. I have a NIN bottle collection apparently. THANK YOU for that, Trent- that water is probably what let me last in the pit as long as I did.

Thank you to the band and everyone for making my last show the best one I have ever seen. I have a few pictures and videos, mostly of SSSC but a few of nin, to upload. Will post then when they're up.

Trent- Thank you for the years of music. You've no idea how much everything has meant to me.

Yes, yes, yes. Exactly. The people I've met along the way are part of the reason this all is so special for me. I'm glad I got to experience my last show with a lot of my new and old friends.

I think it was already cut before that...he was inspecting it very closely during the second verse of "Terrible Lie" and didn't throw the guitar till the end.

The hotel I'm at now has pretty giant t.v. screens, so I'll check it out again later.

No, I'm pretty sure the cut itself was actually on the other (inner) side of his hand and that the pic just shows the blood which ran down and around the other side. Not that big a deal of a cut, obviously -- it certainly didn't impede his performance! -- just thought it was worth mentioning.

They started to tell me I couldn't bring my NIN shoulderbag in until I informed their nearby security that it was merchandise available inside the show and common sense finally prevailed.

Then the same idiot tried to tell me I couldn't bring in the tiny, red bandana I had tied around my wrist and had to check with their boss again to make sure it was okay when I, again, told him just how fucking stupid that was.

wow, thanks, looking at it now, the keyboard pretty much just falls over....i know they were working on a spot in that area after the soundcheck because there was stage problems causing trent's mic stand to just fall over when he hopped around

I always have a great time with fans before the show and it was great to have such a awesome crowd surrounding me. Except for the dipshits who were yelling at TR during 'Hurt'. But I'd like to thank the chick who was behind me who took a blow to the head (trying to protect me) by a crowdsurfer, she didn't have to do that. I LOVED hanging with Killaya and "the twins" and it was great meeting Moebius, Erin, the nice people from Rhode Island, and everyone else in the presale line pretty much rocked. Especially our shenanigans on the hill during the meet and greet. haha

This was my 7th NIN show and it was the best way possible to end my last show. I've NEVER gotten this emotional at a concert before. I started sobbing during 'The Fragile' because that song has so much meaning to me. I then again cried though part of 'THTF', 'HLAH', and sobbed again during 'Hurt', knowing that was the last song. So I left the rail after NIN looking for Killaya, her brother, and her boyfriend and we met up and signed the pillow case. They left right when JA started and I went back into the pit alone. During 'Been Caught Stealing' I noticed Perry's wife was dancing in front of me. Cool haha. Then Leo walked by taking pics with his iPhone. I ended up leaving the pit during 'Ted... Just Admit It' (my favorite song) because I was just so dehydrated. So I didn't get to meet S_phoenix, which was a bummer, but I was seriously lightheaded. So I met up with my mom and we bought some more merch and left during 'Jane Says' and beat the traffic back to our motel in Pittsburgh. Then we left the next day, checked out Mercer, and drove 12 hours back to Chicago and got home at 2 AM this morning.

I wish I could thank the kind security guard who kept on giving me water and letting us hold our sign! He was really looking out for us. And I know he won't probably see this, but thank you Trent for the amazing shows this tour, I'm grateful I got to go to 3 and meet you in Noblesville. It's been an incredible experience.

the 1 copy of the NIN Soundcheck/Set i would be willing to mail to someone as long as they are willing to set up a torrent of the footage and make it available for everyone interested in a copy of it, my connection wouldn't really make it feasible to share a dvd so yeah.... if anyone is interested and has a good connection to initially seed it, let me know and once we get the dvds made i'll let you know

I have cable internet, and I leave my laptop running all the time, so torrent isn't a problem. I can even rip, torrent, then send the dvd off to the next person on the list.

If you're making a multi-cam edit of the show itself, I'd STRONGLY recommend holding off on finalizing it until I can share my video-juiciness. It's not HD, but it is wide-screen, in focus, well-centered, reasonably stable and non-shaky for having been handheld, and pretty well-shot in terms of composition, if I do say so myself.

I'd LOVE to see it edited in well with everyone else's stuff.

I'm kind of not-so-proficient at the uploading/file conversion aspect of everything, though, so let me know if you have some sort of specific requirement I could cater to, if necessary. (Sorry, I'm kind of learning as I go.)

But, yeah...it's beautiful stuff, regardless.

it's .MOD from a JVC (?) we borrowed the camera.... so if you want to purge everything to one person, that would be possible

SSSC= Let's just say I will for sure be buying their album when it comes out. The things Tom Morello can do with a guitar are just amazing. I loved the comment Tom made about getting people to stand up. I think it went "Stand up. This isn't a motherfucking Toby Keith concert. Get the fuck up."

NIN= This is where things got interesting for me. I was in Section 1 right behind the pit. Two girls showed up about five minutes before Trent & Co. went on stage. Both were trashed. The worst trashed of the two started crying when she realized how close she was to the stage. I could hear some of what the other one was saying to her and this is what I caught, "Trent's here for you. See all these other poeple? He doesn't care about them. Just you. Wait until the love of your life comes out..." blah blah blah. She cried and fell to the floor about half a dozen times. Anyway. I loved the setlist. It was packed full of energetic songs. The crowd. was really into it as well which made the experience even better. I was supprised to look back and see how many people there were. The lawn looked packed.

Jane's= I'm not too familiar with most of their songs but they put on one hell of a performance. Eric Avery is insane on that bass.

I was right beside those trashed girls, they were FUBAR.

Found a couple other video sources, seeing if we can get it all together and coordinate a multi-cam edit. It'd be ideal if we could get it all on one FTP or torrent or something so multiple people can access it and edit, if they wish (or just keep the source vids).

I've been trying to hurry up and get at least some of my shit online, but it's pretty hard to do it well as a bit of a n00b on the tech. side of things.

So I'd probably have to send my 1st gen. DVDs via snailmail to someone else to deal with all the torrenting and ripping and stuff, I'm just too technologically incapable and inexperienced to handle it myself, I'm afraid.

Anyway, I'm about to start chopping the video into individual songs and uploading them to YouTube, after which I'll start posting the links in here so you can decide if it's worth your time.

(That's a joke, btw...this shit is AWESOME.)

The first few should be up in the next hour or so.

Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks!!!

id be really interested in ANY video for thw show...a DVD shouldnt take me too long...and if youd like to snail mail thats cool too

if you want do FTP,go to the filezilla website and download the client...pm me your desired user pass and nic...and ill respond to you with my ip addy..

all you have to do is enter in my IP and your nic/pass and i have all my NIN in a big,organized by date/year folder, including all my raw audio and video...grab whatver you like, and you can also upload...very convenient...anyone interested let me know...this will go down as a kick ass DVD!!

i drove from cleveland for this show, and it was fantastical. also, i was on the lawn, so i am much looking forward to seeing some video.

i can edit video, as well as turn a competed project into a torrent.

Yeah, I was originally seated towards the back of the first section of seats on Robin's side (as you'll see in my SSSC footage, eventually), but I waited for a changing of the guards and sneaked over to the empty seats located dead-center in the section right behind the pit and just in front of the boxed seat areas behind them. For some reason they stayed mostly empty the whole time so I filmed from there for the rest of the night.

And I was wondering about something myself.

If I hook up my camcorder to an external, dedicated DVD burner and then record it in real-time as I play the tape, and then use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD to my PC...is there any good reason why I wouldn't just be able to e-mail the raw .vob file to anyone who wants it? (Or links to it on a hosting site, possibly?)

I can't do torrents and it seems like a good alternative to just snailmailing a million discs. Is that still a lossy rip? Sorry, I'm kind up n00bish and inexperienced in such matters, I'm afraid.

That's definitely a lossy conversion. Are there no means to rip the raw data from your camcorder? What kind of media does it record to?

It's a Canon ZR800 for which I have no D.V./FireWire cable, so I just use the A.V./R.C.A. output to run it into a standalone DVD burner so I can burn a DVD of the camcorder footage in realtime as it plays.

Oh, the camcorder itself records to DVC tapes, btw.

Am I losing data during the DVC>RCA>DVD step, then?

You're definitely losing quality. You're taking a digital signal and transfering it through an analog cable. You need to get yourself a firewire cable and transfer it directly to your computer.

Okay, that clears it up, thanks.

In that case, I'll hold off on uploading any of the .vob action anywhere until I can get the FireWire stuff sorted out so we won't have lower-res. versions of the same stuff kickin' around.

I lost my credit card on the road and just got the replacement in the mail today so I should be ordering a FireWire/Card/Software package in the next day or so, but if it doesn't arrive soon enough to take care of everything before I leave to follow the Mayhem Festival then it'll have to wait until mid-to-late-August when I get back.
