true, though I would put it more in that way: electric power outage. everything was shut off in an instant. it's (hopefully) not like anyone switched off the sound/lights on purpose...

(as there have been thunderstorm warnings all day and it was pouring rain during the end of the show - coming up pretty quickly, I assume the stage was not covered properly)

anyway. apart from that, amazing show! especially for a 'shitty' festival in the german-speaking area ;)

faith no more played before them, didn't know much of their stuff, but as i expected, they kicked ass, respect.
btw: tr and the woman that shall not be talked about were watching FNM from the side of the stage for a few songs.

yah, after a long, long wait (and after bands such as sunrise avenue) the HOPEFULLY FUCKING LAST AUSTRIAN festival show kicked in. they played a really tight set, a lot of classics actually.

shitty/annoying things:
- drunk, annoying austrian people trying so shout some lyrical fragments.

mesmerizing stuff:
- during tdtwwa it started to rain (it was pretty cool, and i like it at that particular point), but during hand that feeds, it started to fucking POUR. then i was totally pumped up for a great rainy finale with HLAH, a song that always kicks ass live. but during the first verse, the power cut out and the stage was completely dark. (fail.)
anyway, it was quite cool that the crowd finished verse and chorus and then went home. and by "went home" i mean: walking about two miles through slippery mud, completely drenched and the wind was pretty cold too.

fun things:
terrible lie. trent ran over trs drum kit and some cymbals and toms were lying around. oh, and i finally got to see terrible lie.

paid 75€ for it. it was totally worth it.

How rare is the live version of Metal?

EDIT: Never mind, didn't realize it's been played on most of the summer US tour.

did someone tape?

after 2 years i was really looking forward to see my #1 band again, and sadly for the last time in who-knows-how-many years..

naively, i spent most of friday in the sun so i had a little sunstroke - i guess and i felt a little sick. so moshing was not an option. and if that wasnt already bad enough rain kicked in when mr.selfdestruct started. so i left a bit early because as i said before i didnt feel very well that night and i didnt want it to become any worse.

on the plus side: the band was really, really (!) tight imho. again: imho i witnessed the best performance of march of the pigs and i guess metal and the way out is through were nin-live firsts for me.
Grand Pontiff
best. setlist. ever. they played every song that i wanted.. Trent was really into it, the crowd was awesome and there was a lot of energy.. woah. i saw NIN 3 times and this gig was the best of them. :)

i think the rain was awesome because it washed away all the dust and gave tdtwwa an awesome mood but FUCK, was it cold when i walked to my tent

Indeed I did, this is the 5th NIN show I taped around these parts. I think I have been to every Austrian show since 2000. And thanks for the compliments, good to know it is appreciated.

listening back to the recording I pitty everyone who didnt hear this band perform Mr.Self Destruct live. What a fucking riot!

Really sorry to anyone who was following my Twitter setlist updates, it started off ok, but as I went to send "Burn" my phone wouldn't let me- turns out Vodafuck had been charging me £1.50 for each previous text and it used up all my credit.

It was a brilliant show, full of energy, and I was really impressed with both Ilan and JMJ (I already knew Robin would kick ass). It felt wierd being in the crowd at a NIN gig and not having to keep an eye out for Flying Aaron North...

The powercut happened so fast, the lights went out and suddenly the band disappeared. We waited for a few minutes just in case, but the likelihood of them coming back to do the remaining 2 minutes was pretty slim. I'm glad the next two shows I'm going to are indoors!
Anyway for me to get the recording ?
I got no account there and can't fetch the torrent :(

please contact me: mpain@behind.at / mathias.pain@facos.eu / stryx@gmx.at
ANY help (even just mailing me the torrent) is GREATLY appreciated.

I lost all my photos from the show cause my god damn phone didn't "like" the mud / water.

please help me. this was my first, and sadly last NIN concert.
Help me get something to keep my memories.
Grand Pontiff
this is a megaupload link i got from beta2k, it's mrruins recording in mp3, 320kbps - and it sounds pretty good.
since you're not registered and i can't pm you, i'll just post it here.

btw: thanks to mrruin btw. for taping all/the last few austrian shows.
p.s.: i don't know 'bout any bootleg sharing policies, so i hope mrruin doesn't mind.

peace.

your march 2007 recordings are indeed great.
by the way, i really hope it isn't your recording that got silvered by some asshole idiots. just saw this in a record store in germany some time ago:

(to avoid getting off-topic i would have posted this on the original 2007-03-29 wien thread, but i noticed it's locked so i posted here. mods may move this post elsewhere if they want to. just thought i'd bring up this bootlegging idiotism, in case it's not been discussed already.)

nah I dont mind, appreciate the effort actually.

Regarding the silver: Im sure its my recording, I dont know of another one in circulation. The sad thing is that its not even the complete show. So it goes.
Grand Pontiff
wow.
"the day the world went a" and the "goth 866" sticker make me really, really sad.
i suppose the day the world went a ist the short version of the day the world went away, but it wouldn't fit on a single CD-R the other way.
