NIN Prague show review

Alec Empire - from the "show" perspective nothig special (aside from beautiful machine player), but the music was excellent !!!

NIN - Fantastic start, first 3 songs were orgasm, the core of the show was great with interesting and unique instrumentals like La Mer and The Downward Spiral... but in the final third they started to play mostly the new stuff and it got quite boring...

From the current line up special props goes to Robin, who was amazing and sometimes even more impressive than Trent imo...

Best Of: Somewhat Damaged, Terrible Lie, La Mer, The Downward Spiral
Worst Of: Survivalism, 1.000.000 (these 2 songs just totally suck)

Audience seemed to be pretty soft and quiet compared to the show in Prague 2 years ago...

What pissed me off is that despite obvious eforts from NIN camp to maintain liberal camera policy, it was strictly forbidden here...

Umm im going to have to completely disagree with you. It was a great concert. TDTWWA was awesome! Nothing sucked. Good setlist. Not the best but nothing sucked.

None of NIN's songs sucked. I must admit that some og the songs on the yesterday's playlist weren't to my taste (like it was 2 years ago) but it was fantatic venue. Fans were great and Trent with the guys knew it. For me Christmas was yesterday! Loved every second of it.

Two words: Dead Souls.

Overall freaking amazing show.

When we first got to the venue itself, it was quite empty - I was scared there will not be a lot of people.

Oh boy, was I wrong : ).

Alec Empire was pretty awesome, thousand times better and more suited to my taste than Dandy Warhols that were here 2 years ago.

Anybody have the setlist of what Alec played? I would love to know the name of especially first track, which rocked my socks off : ).


And NIN itself? Flawless. The only song on the setlist that is not my favourite was 1 000 000...other than that, I loved everything.

If they played The Big Come Down instead of 1000000, it would be absolutely perfect, but...can't have everything.

Overall it was awesome and well worth the 6 hours long wait for the next train home because we missed the last one by 3 fucking minutes : ).

You fucking antichrist! Heresy? I would swap it for Eraser. I doubt there is any song out there that would beat this song live.

Any more info?

Yep, it was the 23:22 one. Well, shit happens : ).Thanks for the late offer though : ).

I love both Heresy and Eraser, in fact Eraser is my favourite part of Beside you in time...if they played that I would come in my pants (not that I did not already : )). I would love to get Eraser instead of a 1000000 or a Survivalism..

Btw about NIN stopping - Trent said that he will definitely put touring on hold, maybe even for good, and will instead now focus on a new album (which he wants to take his time with, unlike Slip and Ghosts), plus of course there is the Year Zero HBO thing that he wants to create...

And last but not least he got engaged, so he will probably wanna spend some time with that as well : ).But my guess is, he will take a pause from touring for...5 years, and then start again : ).At least I hope so, because twice I seen them was NOT ENOUGH.

It surprised me, how feelingfully Hurt was performed. I stood in the 5th row, between Trent and Robin and it was completely AATCHB deja vu.


And btw, Survivalism and 1000000 are not among my highlights off Year Zero and Slip, but they were so powerful live, especially Survivalism was mind-blowing. I really enjoyed both.
And yeah, Dead Souls was amazing.

amazing show! standing in the lobby about to check out of the hostel my buddy and i were staying in. pics and some rad videos from the rail, directly in front of robin motherf'ing finck. highlights:
- catching a waterbottle (from robin)
- rocking the fuck out on the rail at one of the last NIN shows (ever??)
- i think i made robin LOL when he was jamming out at the end of echoplex. he looked right at me, about 5 times throughout the set, and this time i gave him the \m/ and nodded approvingly. he buried his head like he was laughing...made the show!

just returned from a long journey to prague. it was a nice little trip and i'll keep it short:
my ass hurts.

we're from southern austria and had a pretty long trip to get to prague (and an even longer trip to get home...), our trip lasted about four days, of course, including wednesday.
so my buddy and i were wandering through the streets of prague, and then came across charles bridge, and we ran into rob. seemed like he was just discovering the city and i said thanks for making me want to becoma a designer/graphic artist whatever. forgot to ask him to take a picture with him (damn, missed opportunity).
anyway, i already had the feeling that this might be a really amazing show.

oh ya, the show... my 5th show, and i can honestly say that it was unbelievably amazing and therefore propably the best show i ever saw. i was standing directly in front of justin. so, first, here are my complaints: tr only had one spotlight at him (from the right side) which sucked for peopled on the left. and the first few songs were pretty identical to the novarock show a few days before. and my third and last complaint: no meet your master.

i really thought about the concert a lot, but i can't fucking find anything else to complain about. goddamn. the band was completely on fire and the crowd was just perfect: on the rail, enought space to jump/dance (a bit), no drunk dumbfucks, and you could hear a needle drop during the quiet songs.

first 6-7 songs on the set were identical to the novarock show - but that doesn't matter: so i got to see terrible lie and the becoming another time. after the becoming, the set changed a bit and i got to hear some newer stuff.
absolute highlight songs were head down, the becoming, the whole quiet interlude including the downward spiral (it doesn't sound anything like the album version, but that's the good part about it, unbelieveable), survivalism, echoplex and in this twilight. my first nin show WITH an encore and no technical fuckups... 2h set!

so...
my ass hurts a lot, because it was kicked pretty hard by that silly band that covered hurt.
btw: my buddy told me afterwards that it was propably the best show he's been to - so thanks guys. and thank you prague, great city!

Yeah, I was on the left side too, and Trent was a bit hard to see from time to time.. but it kind of added on the atmosphere.

By the way, directly in front of Justin? I was probably standing right next to you, then..

he did that at the novarock festival too. deja vu. haha.
also very "suprising" that he only kicks over the drums which are not used for terrible lie.

I only realize now how much I have missed Robin on guitar. He makes such a difference in the line-up. Watching Ilan is quite an experience, he makes me think of a living incarnation of the Muppets show's mad drummer. And Justin is just so... himself... looking serene, making things look easy, just spot on, very impressive... And watching Trent jumping like a rabbit was really priceless. Thank you for all guys!!!
