Hey, the setlist seems correct, but I think they played the downward spiral too?

The show was just great, I do not want this was the highlight for me.

it was A VIOLET FLUID if I can remeber well....the highlight for me was as usual, GAVE UP... that's my fav NIN song ever

The Downward Spiral was definitely played. A Violet Fluid was not.

I just remember a funny thing at the beginning (well, I think it was at the beginning): Someone pointed with a green laserpointer on trent and he was like: "There's someone pointing a green dot... yeah look at him, this fuckhead is pointing a green dot ! Let's kick his ass !" After that, there was no laserpointing anymore, I think they really kicked that ass .

Ok, finally found the time to sit down and write my review.

Hmmm, the show sure was great, but it won't go down as the best NIN show I'd ever seen. It's not the band who's to blame for this, though. But let's start at the beginning ...

I made my way to the main stage right before Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds came on. A) I wanted to make sure I'd get to the front early and B ) I'd never seen Nick Cave before and was curious about his show. Well, I must say I was pretty impressed by his performance. He produced quite a special atmosphere up there on the stage.

Right after they ended their set, I made my way to the second row right in the middle of the stage where Trent would be. Watching the NIN crew set up the stage, I got the impression that everyone worked REALLY professionally. Nobody wants to piss off TR, I guess ...
NIN were supposed to come on at 22.30 and every time they blew smoke onto the stage, the audience reacted screaming, expecting the band to emerge every second.
Finally, the show started about 15 minutes late. As TR later explained, they "had gotten stuck in traffic and literally came on stage seconds after they had arrived".
(I wonder if they had to cut some songs due to their set starting late.)

They opened with Home, which was a better opener than I expected, and then launched straight into Somewhat Damaged. The stage seemed to explode when the guitar riff kicked in.
Pretty much out of nowhere (it might have been at the end of Terrible Lie), Trent threw his keyboard off the stage and it seemed to me that it DID hit a security dude on the head. (Ouch!) That didn't stop him from also sending his guitar through the air. Then you knew for sure, it was ON!

Over the course of the set, I got to hear quite a few songs that I hadn't heard live before. (Yeah, there's a few other songs that I would have loved to hear also, but who am I to bitch about that.)
Highlights: Somewhat Damaged (never gets old), Terrible Lie (TR still totally goes off to this song) and The Fragile, which was a little mellower than the album version.

The few times I turned my head back to the crowd, I saw the first few rows go completely nuts! What was kinda annoying, though, was the constant shoving from the back which, at times, was even kinda distracting. (I'm aware that there's going to be a certain amount of "physical activity" at a rock concert, but it was still somewhat more than I expected.)

The show ended with a very quiet version of Hurt (and a really drunk guy singing along really, really off, right next to me).

Random observations:
- The minimalistic lighting looked REALLY great. Just as good (or better) as it does on the photos you see on NIN's flickr page
- TR's stares are INTENSE!!
- Robin has an awesome stage presence. Just him walking on stage at the beginning of Home, had something very special about it.
- JMJ's an awesome bass player and the same goes for Ilan on the drums. You only really realize this, once you've seen them play live.
- The laser pointer thing happened before they played The Fragile. TR called the guy out and then stepped back from the stage for a few seconds. When he came up front again, the laser quickly came up again and then disappeard for good. I guess, someone really did kick the sh*t out of the guy.
- Rob took this pic right in front of us. It didn't look like he was holding an iPhone, tough ... Strange ...
- Saw quite a few teenagers sing along EVERY word to EVERY song. Which kinda sucks, because it makes me feel like an old fart, but it's also kinda cool to see that NIN is still gaining new fans.

The next day, I couldn't really remember much about the show anymore. I probably didn't give it enough time to sink in, since I went to see another show only about an hour after NIN. I even forgot to grab some shirts from the merch booth. Guess I'll have to order some now.
