Just kidding. Awesome show; I'm going to download the ENTIRE Gary Numan discography now.

I'd love to give you a setlist, but I can't remember everything and would hate to get it wrong.

I will post more tomorrow after I have had a chance to rest but until then let me say this: motherfucking Cars with Gary Numan! Yeah, I nearly died.

As soon as I heard the intro to Mr Self Destruct I knew they would repeat the Webster hall show! Wow what a night!

Oh, and I would have never in a million years have guessed that I would have 'Cars' stuck in my head tonight... but I do!

best show ive been to EVER.

Great, great show, easily the best NIN show I've seen in my 19 years of seeing this band.

Long story short, NIN opened with Mr Self Destruct and played the entire Downward Spiral album from start to finish in order. Then played about 7 - 8 other songs, including 10,000, Burn, ,etc. Trent mentioned he was fighting a bad cold and couldn't hear for shit and apologized for his voice (which really sounded fine until he mentioned being sick before playing "Burn"). Gary Numan joined for "Metal" and "Cars" which I thought was fucking excellent but many in the crowd seemed clueless and uninterested for the two songs.

Which leads to the only real downside which was the audience seemed a bit subdued to the point of being perhaps a bit too polite which has it's pros and cons for a NIN show.

It's been about 8 or so years since I last saw a show at the Palladium (1st show was The Clash way back in '82) so this was doubly sweet. Everything seemed to run very smoothly like clockwork as far as sticking to the advertised schedule. The massive line that snaked all the way around the block the Palladium is on prior to the doors opening at 6:30 got in right around 7:45 leaving virtually no wait time for people coming in later. The sound was excellent pretty much anywhere you stood although the sweet spot was dead center about 2/3rds back from the stage. I could have done without either opening band. Mew was like a third rate Secret Machines (who I really like).

Also, I have to publicly thank my last minute ticket angel who hooked me up tonight for face value, I must add. I wish I coulda at least bought you a drink for your effort.

I was disappointed in this. Not because of the band. They were great (although Trent's voice was off, but that's totally understandable, he was ill and it was seriously good of him to do the show at all). But the audience were fucking AWFUL. Rudest bunch of people I have ever been to a gig with. I am so shocked Trent didn't storm off.

Webster was still much much much much much much much better in my opinion (better performance, better crowd, etc), but seeing Gary Numan for a 2nd time was pretty damn awesome.

Once the crowd calmed over the course of Closer and allowed itself to enjoy WHAT'S ON STAGE (after spending four songs push-pulling itself stupid, as only a collective retard can do)... from Ruiner on it was a totally mesmerizing performance. Just fucking amazing.

Can't add much that hasn't already been said. One interesting point...
Saw notices right outside the floor with an official notice (something to the extent of) NIN was filming with the intent to distribute, and that if your likeness was used that you gave consent.

Would lead one to think they're making another DVD. Saw some pretty high end video equipment too, so perhaps there's one more halo in the works yet.

Just fuckin amazing!!!! As soon as the first hit of Mr. Self Destruct slammed through the speakers I knew we were getting all of TDS. Gary Numan was a great surprise! Being able to take my, now 18 year old, daughter to this show and have her blown away was a great close to the live run of NIN for me. Again...just fuckin amazing!

Unreal. What a great show, I actually think Numan and Nails performed better together at this show compared to the O2 gig, though that may have something to do with the Palladium being a much better suited venue for Numan's dance inciting tracks. I'm especially pleased that Gary joined Trent onstage for a second time as I wasn't allowed to take my camcorder in to the O2 (sack of c*nts run that place).

I only shot around 30 minutes of NIN footage; Some people were were moaning that my cam was obscuring their view (in less polite a manner) and I didn't want to ruin anyone's experience. I mainly got shots of hands flapping wildly in front of the band whilst I swayed around getting seasick until I moved back to enjoy the set and get some scope.

Was terrific hearing A Warm Place live, really resonated in the venue; as did Lights in the Sky (After Trent adjusted to singing it with some sever throat pain).

I didn't think the crowd was all that bad, did get annoying hearing some hecklers though, what on earth were they thinking? Almost spoilt some of the more poignant moment of the set.

Despite a few monitor issues and Trent's cold symptoms flying around the stage, the band was tight, and what a set.

Sold my spare ticket for face value to an extremely happy Belgian in the queue. I'm glad I didn't sell it to the yorkshire pr*k who marked it up to $200 when he sold it onto some poor girl.

I'll get my (mostly terrible) footage online when I get back to the UK, there's certainly a couple of decent shots in the mess... It may be a mess, but it's a mess in HD.

Hope everyone there had as good a time as I did, sorry to hear about the show tomorrow being cancelled, for those that were planning on going.

Feel sorry for the people who lined up super early for Henry Fonda. Line drama as always, Palladium staff were clueless, people who should've got center rail where left on the side. Luckily me and my friend got the spots we wanted. I recorded all of TDS & the Gary Numan songs. I was stoked he jumped during Piggy, he was right on top of me. I got that on video, will probably post that next week when I get home and edit all that stuff.

My 5th NIN show and easily the best

The close environment really serves the music and atmosphere much better. Didn't have a particular problem with crowd, but then again I'm kind of used to these things. Some annoying cunt kept screaming in my ear and lots of people talking but really, who fucking cares: I just saw the Downward Spiral played straight through. My life is complete.

I cannot overemphasize the awesomeness of this performance: It was perfect. And the Downward Spiral... the thing is it's like the perfect set list. All the songs are awesome. You're listening to ruiner and you realize that the becoming and eraser come next, and its just sheer perfection.

All those songs are officially overplayed in general. They carry live so well that they upstage all other music the band plays considerably, simply on principle of their uniqueness and build-up.

Gary Numan was quite a shock: I wasn't expecting TDS AND THEN a guest. Very fun. Metal was much better this time around then on NIN|JA.

Trent called attention to his throat problems somewhere towards the end, but up until that point you really couldn't tell. but for the last couple of songs it started to become quite apparent. By Head Like a HOle you could really tell something was up.
Funny story: I think Torgo and I guess Christo and some others made a B-Line to Fonda immediately after the show... they could be stuck on some shady ass corner of LA over nothing. Seriously guys, might be time for a goodnights rest ya'll seemed pretty beat.

Great set, TDS + extras. Feel awful for the Fonda folks. Numan was great.

I enjoyed the show but, I had some issues with the crowd as well. One girl tried to crowd surf during A Warm Place (seriously, WTF) and then started getting into it from the barrier with some girls in the crowd. Ruined that moment for me. A couple of other crowd issues but, none were worse than that.

Though I won't be making it to any of the remaining shows (no tickets), I hope that everyone who does has the time of their lives. The finality of this kind of hit me once I realized that they were playing TDS all the way through.

After reading that the The Downward Spiral was played in its entirety in NYC I lost some excitement for this show. Once I realized they were playing it all the way through again I was in shock. Easily the best NIN show and or concert I have ever been to.

A Warm Place sounded amazing live. To the people on the VIP balcony who talked through this whole song, Fook You!

Ruiner. I never thought I would hear this live. Words can't explain it.

If anyone has a concert poster from this tour I would be willing to trade you something for it. I have about 50 NIN cds.

Great great show - I have no idea what those people are talking about with the crowd, they were perfect where I was. Seeing TDS in its entirety was a religious experience, to say the least, and I really can't imagine it getting much better. Major disappointment? No Fragile. Kind of bullshit, but I don't feely ripped off in any way.

This had to be the worst crowd I have ever had the displeasure of standing among. Are all shows on the West coast full of as many wankers? Seriously, is it your first NIN show and you don't know to STFU during the show. Yes, that means you blondie with the camera. No one wanted to hear a play by play of who's elbow was in your back or that you love this song or that you feel the need to talk through the entire show. Or, the fat short girls who screamed as soon as the show started because the crowd started surging forward. If you are 5"0' and 200 pounds you do not beloing in the 3rd row. HTFU. Yah and asshole 7" tall dude, gawd.. FOAD already. Dumb guy who's wife got pulled out.. maybe next time you should stand at the back and if your wife needs to leave take your yourself.


The show was great. Thanks to Trent for putting in the massive effort while you were sick to make this show happen. TDS in its entirety was a treat. There were many cameras in the building this time so where is the footage going?

Where were you at? I'm curious where the crap people were. I was on the left, maybe 15 feet from barrier, everything was great. Good view, nice crowd, I had a rather pleasant experience.

Last night was great save for a few minor things. Got in the venue right as Queen Kwong was finishing up, and they sounded decent. At first I thought maybe it was going to be that Warrior Queen lady who performed with The Bug, thank god it wasn't hah. Mew were pretty good, interesting to say the least, I think I have to check them out on record to see if I really like them or not. When those opening sounds of Mr. Self Destruct came on my first thought was 'no wayyy' since I thought Trent said he wouldn't do it again after Webster Hall, which I was lucky enough to be at as well. Once they jumped into Piggy I knew they were going for it, and I just feel outrageously lucky to have been at both shows that they did this at. I made the mistake of reading this forum before going in and saw the post saying 'word is Gary Numan tonight' so I wasn't terribly surprised when he came out, although the two songs they performed together were excellent. Thanks for the spoilers ETS, hah. Anyway, the only bad parts about the night were the crowd for sure. Nothing like NY crowds this tour, but I guess it was partially The Palladium's fault as well for having stupid rules. They block off people from going down to the main floor after it reaches a certain capacity so I can't even remember how many people I saw screaming, crying, begging and pleading to get back down after leaving for the bathroom or a drink. Some people were even pushy enough to just run right by the guards when they weren't looking, jump over the wall to get down, and I saw one kid literally spear into a woman security guard knocking her down along with the guard next to her trying to help her. Seriously, what an asshole. The woman was just doing her job and she looked like she hit her head on the wood floor pretty hard. She seemed alright but definitely frazzled and upset after that. Fuck whoever that kid is for not having any human decency. Anyway, sorry this is so long, like my other show reviews, but I do have one more thing to add. I was right behind Adrianne Curry and a friend of hers in the ticket pickup line which I joined at about 1:45ish. She was really sweet and took a pic with me so after that happened I just felt like the whole night was going to rock, which it did. Feel better Trent, you put on a hell of a show last night even though you were sick. Condolences to all who are gonna miss out tonight.

BTW when Gary Numan came out Trent introduced him as one of his biggest inspirations for what he wanted Nine Inch Nails to sound like, when he was first starting out. Pretty cool IMO.

Short story for now, since I'm on some computer in a Motel 6...

Started to queue for Palladium at 9pm the night before. About eight people were already in line in front of me, so I camped out somewhere along the wall. The people waiting in line were REALLY awesome (kudos to Ian and friends for the great time). We bonded through the night over squashing crickets (these fuckers were EVERYWHERE) and kicking around a mini soccer ball.

Surprisingly, by 4am - everyone was asleep on the sidewalk and people started stirring again by 6. The Brits (and a Canadian) came by to finish the day off with me to wait in line. I was supposed to go back to the hotel and sleep it off, but I was way too pumped (or perhaps too lazy?) to make it back.

Sorry to those that I scared in line when I prematurely popped champagne and it sprayed everywhere. Woops.

And it was fucking HOT, which was even more unfortunate for the hoard of goths wearing black. People were sweating more than a whore at church even before getting into the venue.

Hannah Montana Uno cards and several hours later, we began to stand for a bit before they handed out tickets at 1:00pm. They let in people one or two at a time (depending on if you had a +1 or not) and people were given wristbands, tickets, and a rather spiffy venue specific button for the show (never thought I'd refer to a "button" as "spiffy," but I guess I just did).

They moved the wristbanded line to be in front of the venue entrance and we waited another several hours (sweating... etc.). I wore a shirt that said "I'd rather be at Coldplay" and a lot of people in line actually came up to me and addressed me about it, laughing. I was completely surprised.

Before we got into the shitshow that was re-lining up for the venue - someone fucking spit on JT. Whoever that cunt was: they should go die in a fucking fire. That guy also had to deal with the worst fucking crowd I have ever seen in my life. He doesn't deserve that and was extremely nice giving water to the front rail (although he did spill half the bottle on me... ha).

Ticketmaster or whoever was in charge of security: you're also a bunch of cunts. Reseperating the line into four lines, some with incompetent people who do things too slow, COMPLETELY screwed over people who waited the night for a spot. Luckily I sprinted in, despite the many people threatening to throw us out, and hit front middle rail. The guys that I stayed the night with (who were also in front of me) were stuck several fucking rows behind. Fuck you very much, four row system.

NIN were really brilliant last night. Fantastic energy, and they were running about all over the place, despite Trent being sick.

Unfortunately, I couldn't hear any of the songs they played, despite being front row centre. How? What?

At 730 Queen Kwong came onstage and at about 11pm NIN left the stage. What did I hear?

It was the most rude and obnoxious crowd I had ever heard. I was shocked by the things they were saying - the only thing I could make out from Trent's speeches was something about not being able to hear us - I'm glad he couldn't, else he would have ended the show three songs in - and not in a "Trent needs to HTFU" way, people were being cunts.

Up until The Becoming, I was annoyed, from I Do Not Want This, I wanted to stab babies and was considering joining the Taliban, but when Gary Numan came in I perked up a bit.

Fuck, I can't believe how rude those people were. Usually I can block it out and get on with the show, or it just happens once or twice, but it was almost constant for the whole night. I'm a bit glad Fonda was cancelled - it will take more than a day for my disgust to fade. What a contrast to the last 2 shows I went to!


Yep, they were filming professionally - think I saw 2 static cameras and 2 being moved about.

Fortunately I wasn't surrounded by assholes... BUT was it just me seeing things or did some SHAMELESS FUCK flick a cigarette at Gary Numan when he was on the keyboard/synthesizer during Cars?????? I was just speechless. Like, why the fuck would you flick a cig at GARY NUMAN! Or ANYONE for that matter.

I have to agree with most of the people here: shitty crowd. I'm sure those who were there remember that as soon as the house lights went on after Mew, there was that huge push to the front? You had a group of fucking meatheads that wanted to get to the front, and I'm sure they were the ones heckling Mew and Queen Kwong relentlessly. Then, when I realized TDS was actually happening, there was no way I wanted to experience it being shoved back and forth and having people singing the wrong lyrics off key in my ear, so I got the fuck out of there and headed up the balcony (I should have heeded my newfound friends advice about staying up there in the first place, they had the perfect spot locked down when the doors opened and I braved the floor).

Outside of that, TDS and Gary Numan, all while Trent gave it his all to perform an awesome show? Fucking awesome. While I'm a little disappointed that the Fonda got cancelled, I figured it'd happen as soon as the show ended...and that's ok, Trent. I was at least able to witness a fucking fantastic show. I'm still on the lookout for a Wiltern ticket...anyone?

My friend and I were able to get a lovely spot up close between Trent and Robin. We were not, however, able to stay there. Why? Because a bunch of motherfucking cunts shoved their way around. I've been to plenty of concerts and I'm able to tolerate being jostled. I totally realize you'll be squished in with way too many people and there's no such thing as personal space. But people were obnoxious. We kept being thrown to the floor (which was totally slippery) and people would not let up. At all. I lost my friend and I finally had to pretty much claw my way out. She did too, but we didn't find each other until forty minutes later. I was so dazed that I didn't realize that we were getting TDS. I doubt I could have recited my address at that point.

Once we found a spot on the sort of outskirts it was WAY better. I could breathe, I could move, and people were pretty cool. I was in a section that seemed totally thrilled to have Gary Numan so yay for that.

I'd like to thank someone on behalf of my friend. To the dude that got clawed by the girl in the black shirt thank you SO much for helping her up. She felt awful that she hurt you. Big thanks to the other guy who held her hand; she was pretty terrified.

wow I really didn't have those kinds of intense crowd issues.like I said, some really obnoxious bitch kept screaming as loudly as she could as soon as any song started to pick up or reached a climax. It was fucking annoying, what a ditz. I asked her multiple times to stop and she just gave me some stupid cunt smart as answer, how did these people get to this show.

During quieter songs you could hear that there was some kind of commotion in some disxtant corner of the crowd, as if they weren't playing it all and people were carrying whole elaborate conversations at the top of their lungs. But where I was standing,It didn't ruin anything and I still had an awesome time.

Oh yeah, someone started clapping during hurt, that was irritating.

As I mentioned last night, I've seen a lot of shows at The Palladium over the decades and they've all consistantly featured pretty rowdy, obnoxious crowds, especially up near the front. That's why I didn't bother trying to get near the front and was completely happy 2/3rds back where there was some decent elbow room and very little pushing and shoving.

On the upside, those of you going to the Wiltern show are in for a very different experience. Because the Wiltern has a "tiered" floor that basically breaks the floor up physically into about 5 sections from the pit to the back where the bars are, there's a lot less pushing and shoving and my experiences there have been far better there than any other venue in Southern CA. I honestly figured if there was going to be another full album performance, The Wiltern would be the best suited place for it.

Echplex is another story. Sometimes smaller isn't always better.

Hopefully, Trent will be in good shape for the weekend.

Amazing show as everyone has been stating.

Was anyone here in the pit to the left of the stage (if you're facing it)? I was the guy with the Throbbing Gristle tshirt that came in during Reptile and popped in and out for the rest of the show. I don't mosh at too many shows, but I knew once Reptile came on I had to let my mojo out, lol. Good times dudes (and the one blonde chick who even came in for a little near the end, props)!

To all the people complaining about the crowd, what did you expect? If you're from some town where everyone is quiet when appropriate, where people don't ramble on about their jobs the whole time, and there's nary a witless heckling heard, well I wanna buy a house out there! A crowd is a crowd; if you get enough people in one room, many of them are bound to act up. Yeah, it's lame and can be very annoying to deal with, but suck it up and realize that's life, and don't let some cheese dick ruin it for you. If you don't allow their bullsheit to get to you.. it wont! I've seen NIN 17 times, and I think everytime I've been on the floor there's ALWAYS a massive push to the front (just be glad you didn't see them in Chicago or London!), so unless it was your first time on the floor for a NIN show, ya probably should have seen that one coming. I do have to agree that flicking the cig at Gary Numan was totally classless and idiotic.

I have to say I ran into a lot of cool people from all over the US last night. I don't remember any names, but thanks for helping make it a fun, memorable night everyone!

There's a difference between the audience moving/jostling and the audience being filled with obnoxious cunts who throw people to the ground. I was expected a rowdy crowd for sure. I sure as hell wasn't going to stand still. But I was really disappointed that some people couldn't leave well enough alone and enjoy the show without trying to ruin it for everyone else.

I second the lack of crowd issues. It's too bad that a few people had shitty crowd experiences. Hopefully you can just focus on getting TDS, and not let those Douchebags ruin it for you. There are always a few super annoying people (San Diego - Drunk fucker yelling "whoo, Johnny Cash" during Hurt... yes, you, fuck you.), but I always try to forget it as soon as possible. I was able to see it front row in the balcony, best vantage point in my opinion, and thanks to all the great fans who were up there. I think everyone was cool that was around me. I said it before, I'll say it again, amazing show. The best.

Thanks for this. I certainly didn't mean to imply that I had a horrible night or that the show sucked. In fact, those immediately around us were totally friendly and fun, we just didn't get to stay with them for very long. It seemed that those on the periphery just pushed like hell and kind of killed it for us. I'm glad to see that wasn't the case for many people.

I honestly couldn't tell Trent was sick until he spoke. I thought everything sounded amazing. It was only towards the end when Trent appeared to not be singing/yelling certain lines that I could tell it was really getting to him.

But anyway greatest fucking NIN concert ever! This was my 9th NIN-stravaganza, the Echoplex will be my 10th. It was great seeing actual mosh pits during a NIN concert, first time seeing that since the Hammerstein in '05, but with that said if a girl goes down you help her up. Some douches could care less and would just continue elbowing people.

As soon as I heard Piggy I knew we were gonna get all of tds, nothing could top this! Unless of course they play all of Year Zero and Bowie comes out to do I'm afraid of Americans and Ziggy Stardust at The Echo, but I know I'm a dreamer...

p.s. I filmed the song the downward spiral, hurt and the 2 Gary Numan songs in 1080p hd. so I'll get that up somewhere in the not-too-distant future.

This show was amazing. Period.

The only bad thing was that on the floor i had a really bad view, no matter where I was. Everywhere i moved, I could barely see the band.

Sorry to hear about the crowd, but I can't say I'm surprised. LA crowds can be iffy, but I've found Palladium crowds to always be horrendous for some reason. These shows seemed to get a lot of local hype and I think there were a lot of people that attended that weren't big fans and were more just there to do something on a Wednesday night... I was up in the balcony and it was often more distracting watching the crowd than the stage - saw numerous fights, mosh pits, surges of people shoving to the front... looked like it was brutal. Hope the crowds get better....

Don't know if anyone else remembers it but I did appreciable the loud "shut the fuck up" during LITS. One time when heckling was appropriate!

Amazing show. Couldn't be bothered by others. It was a full on jammed out set, and I feel fortunate to have seen / lived it. TDS start to finish, nuff said. Being a lifelong Numanoid too, there aren't words for the experience.

I should have been more clear; I didn't mean the Wave Goodbye shows in Chicago, but just Chicago in general whenever I've seen them there (twice). My hardest crowd experiences for NIN (or I guess anyone for that matter) were in Chicago and London, so I was just speaking out of personal experience.

And I've been crushed up on the rail before for NIN many a time, and yes it gets rough and ugly sometimes. I've been elbowed, scratched, pried from my place, but I know a big part of it is everyone reacting to the people in back trying to get closer. When the human crowd tide starts rolling, a ton of people are grabbing onto whatever they can to not fall. If someone does fall, a lot of times it's extremely difficult to help because no one around the fallen has the arm room to do anything about it. But anyways, I think it just boils down to each individual's experience and I'm sorry that some people can't block out the mental and physical aches and pains seeing NIN up close the way I've luckily been able to. I should count my lucky starts I'm a 6 foot male and have pretty good lower body strength to hold my ground, and I have mad respect for all the more vertically challenged NIN fans who have to put up more of a fight than I do to enjoy the show.

A few notes, out of order -

NIN was spectacular. Best artistic experience ever. Hands down.

Yes, the crowd in front was just awful - rude, obnoxious, belligerent, and thoughtless. Especially toward the front-middle-right.

To the fellow who got me out of the pit - you saved my life. Literally. You were wearing a white t-shirt, blue collar, longer, curly hair. If you see me, please introduce yourself as I'd like to thank you in person.

Mew, the band, was great. The lead singer was awful. They need a new singer - someone with more power, male or female.

Queen Kwong was surprisingly good. I would pay to see just her.

'I Do Not Want This' + 'A Warm Place' were highlights as were the Gary Numan tracks.

I loved how every song was stripped down to their essential parts - AMAZING ART.

1) most of these complaints aren't about what people were doing but what was coming out of their mouths. imo, there was barely any crush at this show.

2) barrier at 7 london shows - nowhere near comparable. i'm a 4ft10 woman and london shows are a piece of piss for me.

I had a horrible time with crush, but it seems I was in an area that got the brunt of it. It's nice to hear that it wasn't that way throughout the entire venue. This bothers me none since I am accustomed to people having there own ideals & behaviors. I simply tune into the show & enjoy. When I've been lucky enough to be surrounded by ppl who are similar to myself it does heighten the experience, truly. Mostly though, ppl fighting & hollering is what you get when any large groups converge.

Surely if you are into the music others shouldn't have that much of a negative affect. Right?

Actually, no, they DIDN'T. I have an original setlist from the Palladium, it's 25 songs (about the same as all the shows in NY and Chicago), and they did every one. Anyone who feels they got ripped-off and heard fewer songs than was originally planned, relax, you got to hear the whole setlist, just as NIN intended. And who started the rumor that the show was cut short?

Just to talk about the show a little more and less about the crowd, I love how even after seeing NIN 17 times, I still got to hear 7 songs (not including Cars) I'd never heard live before (Heresy, Ruiner, I Do Not Want This, Big Man With A Gun, A Warm Place!, The Downward Spiral, Lights In The Sky). I'm so happy Trent is really making an effort to make these shows something more than the standard NIN affair.

I thought it was funny how most of the guys around me who had been singing along the whole show 'got weird about it' when Big Man With A Gun came on; nobody knew if they should shout "I want to cum all over you" loudly in public ;)

So imagine how bad the crowd would have to be for you to be completely unable to tune into the show!

I think you're ignoring the comparisons being made here - people aren't angry THAT people were hollering - for example, someone shouted "freebird!!" or something to that effect during queen kwong, and it was funny. You know, loads of other stuff happened at the show that might have been inconvenient, but it wasn't anything anyone could help/wasn't anything disrespectful, so they weren't mentioned before. I got a split lip from the show because someone got pulled out and was dropped half way, but it happens at this sort of thing, so it's no big deal. It's bizarre if I don't leave a NIN show bruised.

Like solareyes said, it's not like all these people were born yesterday and just got let into the Big Mean World for the first time. Don't just dismiss it as people being pussies - maybe you were stood somewhere else where the situation was totally different, as some people have posted here.

I just got back from LA, and I have to say that the show was quite good. This was my eleventh and definitely wasn't the best show I've seen, but certainly one of the most unique.

Music and performance-wise, it was a great show, despite the hoarseness that crept in at various times.

We were on the balcony (not as VIPs), so we didn't have to deal with obnoxious assholes down below, but I found that there were a lot of people there that only had a passing interest in NIN. As has been said by others, entire elaborate conversations carried out during any song that was even remotely quiet (such as LITS), people making PHONE CALLS to arrange meet-ups after the show, a vigorous debate over whether Hurt was NIN covering Johnny Cash or the other way around...

It was also interesting to see which songs the crowd responded to more, such as when the response to 1,000,000 was greater than to Terrible Lie. I was so thrilled to see TDS performed front to back (Heresy live...finally!), but I do think that the sheer weight of that gift was lost on a lot of people.

For such a small crowd, it seemed that there were a lot of casual fans, which really surprised me. NIN crowds are definitely different everywhere, and they are always more diverse than just a bunch of "black-clad kids", people will always talk, and scream and clap at "inappropriate" times, but I've never seen that much disdain.

Seriously, one of the final four shows and you choose to buy your t-shirts during Ruiner?

Excellent show. I was upfront by Robin. The wasn't too bad and the security was pretty good - giving water to those upfront on the rail.

By the end of TDS I was spent - physically and emotionally in a way. It was weird.

Gary Numan was a treat. I'm not incredibly familiar with his work but really enjoyed seeing him onstage.


Overall excellent show! Can't wait for tonight @ the Fonda.
