w00t! They played Everyday Is Exactly The Same tonight!!! w00t!

What a way to end a UK tour - the set started with BYIT intro, then staright into Wish, Sin, Line Begins..., Pigs, SICNH,... we got Burn this time... I'm sure someone will post the whole set. What a night! Band were really into it, much better than the night before. I can die a happy man!

Not only did they play Everyday is Exactly the Same but also they played Home, which I love !!!!, I loved hearing those two live !!.

Band were really tight and sweet !.

Can't remember the setlist. Still can't believe they played Home !!! thank you, thank you !!! :-)

My only gripe is that being a silly moo,I didn't realise my ticket was a Circle (seating) one and it was too short notice to swap it. While sitting in the Circle has it's advantages, which is mainly being able to see the whole stage, I felt so far away !. I wanted to be squashed up near the front getting sweaty, not sitting down feeling uncomfortable !!

Can't wait for them to come back.Show was so good I may even join the Spiral !
Master of the Ninth Arch
This was fucking awesome ^_^

I really enjoyed waiting in line with everyone - it was amazing meeting people for the first time and having an instant sense of community.

Front row was awesome - I was directly in front of Aaron and had a really good view of the stage. Of course I'm covered in bruises now but it was worth it!

Had to get pulled out towards the end of Starfuckers Inc because I could not breathe and had a full on collapse panic attack thing going on.

I really enjoyed being so close to the band and the music and the energy was fantastic. I was really surprised by how much I loved Saul too.

Backstage was incredible (people have lots to post about but I will leave that to them!) and the best part for me was giving Jerome the charm bracelet I had made for him and having him get me to tie it around his wrist and then I asked him to have a picture taken with him. He was with a really beautiful woman who took the picture for me ^_^ They were both really lovely.

I'll do a proper write up of my take on both days when I get home. Right now Saturnine is waiting for me to bring her a drink.

Love and Kisses

i asked Aaron(x) and Alessandro(') to mark 3 of their favorite songs they most liked to play tonight :)

was anyone else here part of the spiral group?

Gyuri's got the right setlist, obviously.

Another amazing show. Again, parts better than other nights, some parts not quite so good. But I think this one may have edged the other Brixton shows for me. Crowd was into it just a bit more where I was. And the band really has been at this for a little while now, they know what they're doing.

I got to hear Home, EDIETS, and Dead Souls, all for the first time for me. That was uber-cool.

The musical highlights:
I just don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing Wish, MOTP, Terrible Lie, or Gave Up played live.

The funny highlights:
> During the tambourine part of With Teeth, the mic fell out of the stand and to the stage floor. Trent simply bent over and continued whacking the hell out of that tambourine just above the mic where it lay.
> Amongst all the pumping fists of the crowd, at one point - a pumping bicycle seat! Yeah!

But sitting here today, I'm glad it's over. I couldn't take any more of this. I'm gettin' too old for this shit.

I had an awesome time! This was the best of the gigs I went to in London! And the best time I have ever had at any gig.........I have brusies upon bruises upon bruises and no voice but I feel fantastic.

Highlights were SICNH, Dead Souls and Every Day is Exactly the same!

I got to meet the band at the meet and greet beforehand, which made me a very happy and smiley lady for the rest of the night! They didn't allow any photos but I was quite happy to get a couple of things signed and grin like an idiot at them all. We were all a very polite and orderley bunch too.

Booked a ticket for the Vancouver show and can't wait for that now! Hopefully will have recovered by then. :?
Wow....
firstly, I'm a long time reader, first time writer.
I've been waiting to see nin for 10 years now (saw them in sydney and Melbourne big day outs - which were good, but not a full setlist fest type thing, so they don't count.)
Went to last nights gig...i can't believe they played sin. I saw them last week on the 5th which was amasing. but then last night was something else. last week we were down stairs, which was great, then last night we were up stairs, which really completed the experience. Totally different from, last week. They started with wish which really got things going! no reptile this week, but sin was awesome. definitely one of the high lights. And dead souls, wow, unbelievable!! i got some pics, and little video clips which i'll try make available. can't wait for them to return!!

Nothing can stop me now.....
Master of the Ninth Arch
baaah! dude, this was amazing!
thanks to whoever gave me the after show pass, got to meet jerome, aaron and (not really nin related) muse!!! saturnine, thanks for the biro ;)

by the way, the gig was great too, they played "dead souls" so it was great! oh, and alessandro even came out from behind his synths... great!

i m gonna write more when i m back in germany again, it s 9p the minute im on... argh!

witte, hope you had a great show.

christina and mareijke: haven t had the time to hug you yesterday night. i was too excited. was a great time meeting you. mareijke, hope you had a good way back to germany! i hope i ll be able to keep in touch with both of you.

heheheheheh......i still laugh when i think of last night......i had SUCH a good time!

it was really cool to meet all you ETS folks who showed at the gig.....

A big THANK YOU to Ben, Azure's friend who hooked me up with an elusive yellow rectangular sticker.......

hahahahaha.....fucking grace jones.....

anyways, i don't want to bore with the details....it was my 5th show this year....maybe not the best performance i've seen, but certainly the best concert experience i've ever had a NIN show....

from the last 2 brixton shows i got to hear 5 songs i hadn't heard live yet....all from with teeth....but it made it worth it....totally....especially EDIETS....i'm seeing that seems to be a fan favorite....

alessandro confirmed they'll be playing in italy next year, so i may not travel abroad to see them when they tour europe again....apparently, they did not play in italy because the venues where they would have played were already booked for the dates they could have played (tour logistics and coordination problems)....so if any italian fans are worried they'll get left out again, it seems you should not worry.....also because his mom wants to see him play live ;-)

i've got a funny anecdote....besides the bicycle seat which was already mentioned (i saw it when the security guard in front of me pulled it out of the crowd and held it up with quite an astonished expression hahahah)....during 'head like a hole' aaron's mic stand fell over while he was singing the chorus, and he was left with the mic in his guitar playing hand....and he was just standing there singing into the mic with an expression that read pretty much "what the fuck am i doing here singing, i'm supposed to be playing!"... which is pretty much why he subsequently just tossed the mic into the crowd.........his look of realization made me laugh my ass off.

ok, my internet time here at charing cross is up....see you guys around the net hopefully soon...
ciao

ps. a heads up to azure, sat, silky and all you ETS people that added so much to such a great night....and a heads up to the guys sitting in the subway cradling the broken guitars hahahahahahahahah

pps. thanks gary for your 2 seconds hahahahah

ppps. fucking grace jones hahahahahahahahahahahahah

that show was weird.

saul williams was fucking amazing of course, and the show was cool, but i didnt feel the goosebumps as before. thats not to say i didnt really enjopy it, i just htink i had high expectations of the gig, it being the last one i'm going to for a while. EDIETS was really cool live, but i think it needs some tweaking, perhaps in the way its mixed, for it to really reach its potential. after all, it is the first time they've played it.

the crowd wasn't too bad tonight - i barely had a sweat patch on me - except for teh fucker who decided to wear metal pates on his tshirt and then compress my shoulder blades. this sort of thing makes me pine for the astoria community of love.

i tried to spend time with as much people as possible after the show, mainly with my non #ets friends because i dont when the next time i see them will be. i didnt even get to say goodbye to summariot because his train left early. poo.

after i got home i had a cry. not for any particular reason, but just because the lack of food and sleep, and coming down from a 10 day adrenalin rush takes it out of you. i'm probably not gonna listen to nin or saul williams for a good few days. kylie and weezer, you jhave my attention once again.

ROFLMAO- i was the one who got the bike seat at the front and was like "WTF" so i put it on the floor past the barrier- then the security dude picked it up and was like "How in the hell did THIS get in here?" Was hilarious.
The dudes giving water had a new tactic- squirty bottles that gives as little water to the mouth and soaks you! was great.
Made some real cool friends at that gig- awesome.
can't wait to get my photos developed :D

hi i think that was me! i was right in the middle at the front. im glad you got to meet some of the band.i un-fortunatly had a train to catch other wise i would have gone backstage.(although id already met them several times)

the gig was very good, but im still maintaing that the second night at the astoria was the best show i've seen. i was also pleased they didnt fuck up dead souls last night, in my opinion the best song of the tour has got to have been 'the big come down' cant wait for the arena tour, just so i can meet up with all the great people ive met *azure*

As you can see, the setlist was amazing. I was against the barrier almost directly in front of Aaron, (just slightly more towards the middle), and had a fantastic view of the entire stage. But, as with all things truly worth having, it came with a price. The people to either side of me on the barrier were mostly those that had sat with me all day in the queue, and it was only their presence that made it possible for me to even contemplate life on the barrier. Half-way through The Line Begins To Blur I had a sense of utter certainty that I was going to die. While most of my attention was focused on the band, another part of me began to view the situation as a battle, bringing a feeling of victory with the start of each song. I had queued all day in the dreadful, suffocating heat so that I could be this close to my favourite band… I was not going to give in easily, despite the spiteful attempts of some of the people behind me who repeatedly pulled my hair (which I had considerately put into pigtails so that it wouldn’t get in anyone’s way) and seemed determined to crush me despite the fact that they were considerably taller than my 4’11 & 3/4” and could see perfectly well over my head.

During March Of The Pigs I became seriously concerned at the thought of Trent coming into the audience during Piggy, as I had seen him do the previous night from the balcony. While I would have welcomed the opportunity to touch him, I knew this would result in my being pulled out because the crush would have been too great. I’ve always loved Something I Can Never Have, but I think I love it even more now… my relief was palpable.

My mind came to an unspoken agreement with my body, if it could endure the pain my mind would focus a small portion of attention on ensuring we could breathe. I turned sideways with my right hip wedged against the barrier and used my right arm and leg to push back, the angle allowing me to breathe even when the surge of the crowd slammed me repeatedly against the barrier. The pain was incredible, I thought my arm would break at one point, and my whole body ached… but I could still draw breath. The girl to my left really looked out for me, and kept asking me if I was okay as my face alternated between rapturous joy and the pained grimace of someone being slowly squeezed to death.

During the tambourine part of With Teeth, the microphone fell out of the stand and onto the stage floor. Trent just bent over and continued shaking the tambourine above the microphone where it lay… though I suspect some poor tech guy might have received an earful for that after the show.

Sadly, I was being crushed a little too much to really enjoy Terrible Lie, things were a little more comfortable during Burn… or perhaps I was just starting to accept the pain by that point. I was singing along to Burn, as were most of the people around me, and it felt really good to see Trent smile in acknowledgement of that.

I was increasingly amused by the red handkerchief in Aaron’s back pocket and a perverse part of me wondered if it was meant to signal what I thought it did… interesting.

Closer was a special moment all on its own. Mentally I compared it to all the times I had sat in front of the television watching And All That Could Have Been, and I decided that watching something isn’t nearly as magical as being there and feeling the energy of the people around you as they react to Trent’s every move… and that slightly scary but oh so sexy eye contact.

My energy was rapidly depleting, I wasn’t sure how much longer I could last. But it had been suggested that Every Day Is Exactly The Same would receive its first airing and I wanted to be right there at the front if my favourite song was played. Though this meant that I also had to endure having my hand, and at one point my face, pressed against the crotch of a security guard as they pulled people out. I was ridiculously proud of myself as several tall, strong looking lads got pulled out… I couldn’t believe I’d managed to hold my position for such a long time.

My gaze kept flicking back and forth across the stage; I wanted to drink in as much of the experience as possible. I saw Alessandro doing all sorts of interesting things, and had a brilliant view of Jerome, who I have a real soft spot for. I didn’t pay an awful lot of attention to Jeordie, though I really respect him as a musician, he scares me a little bit because he always looks so grumpy.

Every Day Is Exactly The Same was incredible to see performed. I sang along quietly and was torn between crying and smiling. I experienced the same urgent desire to kiss someone that I’d felt the previous night during Reptile, but was fortunately not in a position to indulge this strange compulsion to reach out and touch someone intimately.

The Wretched, one of my favourite songs from The Fragile, was even better viewed from the front row, especially since I knew what was coming. Trent humping the mic stand is definitely one of the highlights of the evening, along with the point somewhere earlier in the set where he got behind Aaron and threw water over and past him – some of which hit me in the face.

I actually managed to feel sexual during Suck, quite an achievement under the circumstances… though the lyrics ‘How does it feel?’ prompted my subconscious to whisper that it hurt, a lot.

The crush seemed to lessen during Dead Souls and Getting Smaller, but Gave Up was an agony of being scraped sideways against the barrier (not fun since I had stupidly worn a skirt).

Hurt was just beautiful. I tuned out the few stupid people who were yelling out, and concentrated on the sense of family, of shared understanding, hearing the majority of the crowd singing along with Trent and being part of that togetherness… another voice, another face in the crowd. I felt like a small part of something that was much more important than I was alone.

I don’t know at what point it was that someone passed a bicycle seat from the crowd, but I grinned in amusement and exchanged incredulous looks with the girls to either side of me as the security guard in front of us picked it up with a look that suggested he was thinking “well that does it, I’ve seen everything now”.

Starfuckers, Inc. was a lot of fun, and I sang along enthusiastically right up until the “Fuck George Bush” guy and his girlfriend got pulled out. The last thing I clearly remember is gazing up at Trent as he sang ‘all the pain… how did we ever get by without you’ and then I was slammed against the barrier as people surged forward to fill the gap at the barrier. My left foot was crushed and I found it impossible to push back even an inch to draw breath. I was signalling to the security guys and croaking that I needed to get out but their gaze was focused on the people behind me. Unable to get their attention and starting to panic, I turned to the girl who had filled the gap to the right of me (it was physically impossible for me to turn to the left) and tried to make her understand that I couldn’t breathe and needed to be pulled out immediately. She just smiled at me and as my head started to swim and spots appeared before my eyes, a part of me just wanted to give in and slip beneath the crowd. But on an instinctive level I responded to what had become a very serious threat to my continued existence and resorted to punching her arm. I guess she finally got the message because she leaned forward and waved at the security guys (who had been stood right in front of me the whole time). They took one look at my face and instantly rushed to pull me out, but it seemed to take forever and by the time they put me on my feet I just collapsed. Everyone was really nice and I got taken backstage to where the first aid room was and was given a drink of water and sat down until I stopped trembling and calmed down.

I was pissed off that I didn’t get to see the last song, but far more grateful to be alive.

Backstage I mostly hung out with all my new friends, who I had come to regard as part of an extended family. And Grand Theft Auto San Andreas on the X-box was fun to watch (I would have played if I wasn’t so wrecked).

Then the girl who had been to my left on the barrier, sat with me and told me that “my man”, as she put it, was just a few feet away. She was of course referring to Jerome, as we had talked about many things including who our favourite band members were in between performances (she likes Jeordie best). I was really touched that she had remembered that I wanted to meet him and we approached him together.

I waited while he finished talking to another girl and then held out the charm bracelet I‘d made for him, though I never dreamed I would have the opportunity to give it to him. He looked at me and said “Is this for me?” and I said “Yes, I made it for you. It’s a charm bracelet –it will bring you luck.” He said “Thank you” like he was genuinely touched by the gift and told me to put it on him. With a sense of awe I tied it around his left wrist and explained that if he made a wish and then allowed the bracelet to fall off naturally, or break, then his wish would come true… or that’s what people say. Then I asked if it would be okay if I had my picture taken with him and he was lovely about it and even apologised to me because he was sweaty! My friend tried to take the picture but had trouble with the height difference, and I was worried until like an angel the beautiful woman that was with him took the camera and took a lovely picture for me. I thanked them both and Jerome said that it was nice meeting me, and then I floated back to the bench to sit down. I know that Aaron and Alessandro were there too, as well as other famous people, but I didn’t try to meet any of them, I just sat exhausted and happy to have fulfilled my dearest wish.

Wheeeee!

After the madness of the 13th, I arrived at the venue about 1700 to queue. Wasn't planning on going backstage for this one, but decided to hang about with everyone from ETS and #ets anyway, because they're all safe as fuck. acid pits kept giving me the evil eye, though. I'll get him later.

Headed in on time, and took my place with my friend Lyd by the mixing desk, because I didn't feel like getting crushed again, and she's small and fragile, by her own admission. Plus, I was still aching from the night before. Never before have i been so crushed. It was like someone was trying to push my balls through a wire mesh. Which, in actuality, wasn't far from the truth. Anyway, Frankie and the inimitable kleptonin came over as well, it was cool to enjoy the gig with them.

Saul - see my other posts. Awesome. Seemed like he played longer this time though. Also awesome.

NIN played a similar set to the 4th, but threw in EDIETS and Getting Smaller for good measure. I particularly liked the Eye of Sauron behind the band during Sin. From further back, the sound is vastly better, and you can appreciate the light show a lot more. So I was thankful for that. All in all a great show.

Headed off pretty quick after HLAH, because we were both feeling tired and wanted some sleep. Unfortunately, this meant I wasn't able to say goodbye to everyone, but I'll see them all soon enough, I'm sure. Everyone rocks, we have an awesome little UK community together, and I'm proud we took these gigs by storm. Whee!
Grand Pontiff
THAT SHOW WAS FUCKING AMAZING

Simply one of the best gigs i have ever been to.
THE CRUSH WAS INTENSE. I was the blonde slightly to the left of the centre of the barrier.
Saul Williams was great again i really like him and will defiently be buying his album.
Nine Inch Nails were on fire last night. Trent seemed so into it and this was helped by an amazing setlist.
Dead Souls, Every day is exactly the same, SICNH Wish ,Gave Up,Terrible lie ROCKED MY WORLD.

The situation at the front barrier varied at different times. The crush was ok to begin with me and my friend thought we would make it. but then towards the middle of the set it became pretty intense and my frined collapsed and got pulled out. And for the next few songs the crsh was HORRIBLE. however it got better and i decided to stick it out and im glad i did.
It was nice to see the people from echoing the sound at the front of the queue everyone was really cool.
And seeing them again at the after show party seeing Gary Numan and Grace jones and Jerome Dillon and the guitarists out of muse within the same room was a weird experience.
But yeah awesome gig i want to go to the states to see the fall tour now......

Fucking amazing show so many highlights and funny stories..everyone has there own:

Highlights.

The guy infront of me getting riped of with some dodgy tickets ( duno if he got in)

Me being the only one in a red t shirt

Two guys making out in crowd ( that was just gay )

Some guy with dreadlocks being a right knobhead .. think he got in a bit of a fight at one point.

Was anyone else in the pretty serious fall .. like 50 people fell over right at front of stage.

i loved it when trent at the end of sin (i think) clapped at us and appreciated us cheering so hard..he looked suprised.

my freind being sick in crowd

Getting my oter mate up crowd surfing and what he done was when he got over he actually went up a bit of the scafolding at side ( next to that green thing on right of stage)
and started head banging on it..he said he looked over (this was during starfuckers) and everyone was going nuts.

Everyone in the entire arena singing hurt..i couldnt even hear trent.

Trent giving up in "dont you" parts in sfuckers cause we where so loud

as i said before everyone has there own stories overall fucking great day. fucking killer

Just got back with plane Stansted-Eindhoven........

Saul Williams was allright and nice.

I was in front of the balcony with my son and it was amazing.
Every concert (total 6) in Europe i've seen was different.

One thing was clear for me yesterday:
- the bands gets better and better (I think it's now at his best).
- Jerome is an awesome drummer: he's the engine of the band and gives the others much inspiration.
- Hurt: was the best performance for me: especially the emotional reactions/sing alongs of the audience.
- it was nice to be there and to share this all with my son.

I want to thank you all (also UK NINtour2005) and especially Trent!!

I'm not going to the US this year (enuf = enuf) and I hope to see the band next year with a new album and new European Tour (also @ the Heineken Hall or 013)

I was also against the barrier - but dead center, in front of Trent. We shared moments. It was the best position to be in out of the whole damn building, and the best (premature - it's on Sunday) birthday present I could ever have wished for (especially being so close to Saul Williams). A huge thankyou goes to Christo and EnemyAirship for keeping me wedged in there.

More shout outs and details later, when my chest, knees and general anatomy stop hurting.

hey saturnine, i saw you screamin saul will's lyrics :) niceone
(i was the guy who was askin for a spare ticket n u sad u have a friend who might have one, but i could buy one from an other girl)
aaanyway, did anyone else saw during sin (i think) that trent almost pushed down aaron from the stage? it was f**n tight..
i was really close, so i could see that aaron had to fight relly hard to stay on his feet..

Muse were there !! Were the whole band there or just Matt Bellamy ?
Master of the Ninth Arch
haha, yes, i really hadn't thought muse like nin.
matthew wasn't there, i spoke to dom and chris and asked them if matt is there too, and they said no. i told them to do some european gigs soon, and they said something like "sure, we'll do soon"
i couldn't talk a lot to them cause i just was too excited and i didn't wanted that all to get embarassing. i was just too overwhelmed.

anyway, it was pretty cool to see the guys. unfortunately i was too polite to interrupt alessandro in his conversation with his italian friends to get an autograph... :(

dude, i hope jerome doesn't think the present i had to give him from marya was by me...

i dont think i will ever go to a better show!
That was a fuckin mighty show :D
Me and my brother came all the way from Gothenburg, Sweden, to watch it and needless to say we were more than satisfied. Great venue, great setlist and a kick ass crowd! Thanks everybody!
Master of the Ninth Arch
I had a cool time in London, although being from Scotland the heat was a bit too much for me and I was uncomfortable as hell the whole night :(

My friends and I stood right in front of the sound desk and camera box thingy. We initially thought it was a good spot and the cameraman had a setlist that we got a sneaky peek at, but for some reason every rugby playing 6-foot+ motherfucker in the place then decided to seek me out and stand directly in front of me (I'm five foot one). My mate told at least 3 of them to piss off and luckily they did heh

I enjoyed hearing a different setlist from Glasgow, especially Sin, EDIETS and Dead Souls. The whole clap along to Hurt thing still confuses the hell out of me but I managed to block it out and enjoy the song. Trent was quieter this time and I think the only thing he said was 'thank you' after a few of the songs. Aaron was a maniac as ever and is fast becoming my new guitar hero.

PS Yet again due to the newbieness factor I didn't recognise any ETS peeps, but you may recognise me from the terribly embarassing luck we had while waiting in the queue. I sat on the kerb and accidentally sat on some chewing gum - so it was all stuck to my butt and my friend had to clean it off while trying not to vomit  Then my other friend leant on a drainpipe and got her arm covered in black yucky stuff. The people around us were hugely entertained I'm sure heh
Kindda a rubbish gig. Partly cos there were loads of chavs and euros around – felt more like a tourist spot, I guess I guess this is to be expected seeing as it was the was the last of 4 london shows. Anyway I don’t like to get too negative cos the feeling I had throughout the show was one of thanks for trent for these past 6 years, it almost felt peaceful, like a kind of release, a time for moving on.

Huge thanks to trent, its been a great 6 years and ill always have my records. thanks for the 31st march and 5th july 2005.

Continued from here...

Thursday morning, although we had all talked about leaving at different times, we all ended up washed, dressed and out of the door at the same time (with the exception of squarepeg, who wasn't going to the shows that night). Walking down Bayswater Rd was quite pleasant - we passed by Kensington Gardens and the Russian Embassy - as it was sunny and warm and we were all drinking liquids of some kind. No alcohol, though. I think. We should have done really.

Wix took the tube north to meet a friend, and we went south. It was pretty packed in there - and one week since the terrorist attacks. I felt... not nervous, but hyperaware of the people around me and the things that had happened in exactly the same conditions the week before. But you know, whatever, British Patriot raaaar crap down with terrorism etc. You have to get on with life.

There were even LESS people outside the venue by the time we got there at 10am. We even beat Mac! The sun was shining and it was quite nice to be out there. The queue barriers were pulled out a little earlier than last time (at least it felt that way) and about an hour after we had settled down, the security guy that handles the front area brought us out some huge slabs of cardboard with which to set up shelter from the sun. They occasionally fell off, but by gawd, it got us through the hotter parts of the day. We also spread newspaper over the floor to protect us from all the shite on the ground - didn't stop me from getting chewing gum and all sorts on my shoes and jeans though. SPIT IT INTO BINS PEOPLE.

At 11-ish, we heard tale of a sushi place about 7 minutes away from the queue, so we all fidgeted a while, and then Sascha the Mexican DJ (via a Spanish speaking friend on her cellphone) led us to the place while talking about her music and why she hates Canada. It meant walking through an street of tall buildings with black guys hanging outside. When we asked for directions, they offered us skunk and then told us where the sushi place was. It was... uh... enlightening? The buildings were beautiful though.

The sushi place was pretty good, but stupid expensive. I had 6 avacado pieces, Christo had 4 salmon nigiri, and Sascha shared something I wasn't sure of with Daniel, until she realised there were roe eggs on the outside. Bless her heart. On the way back, I bought yet more water, and then paid for 30 minutes of internet time in order to call GentleRed a slag. Good times, good times.

So, the rest of the afternoon was spent doing the usual sitting-on-arse talking to people, drinking water, watching people walk by. Strangely enough, I did not pee for the entire day: it was so hot, I just sweated all my water out.

Kleptonin & Frankie turned up at around 5/6pm, the last of the ETS people to arrive (PINK HOMO SHIRT), but by that time it was too late to cut them into the queue - we were all standing up. I'd made the decision to go to the front, and the one of the highlights of my night - a girl walking down in a skirt, a seethrough fishnet top AND NO BRA - walked by. Everyone cheered! Yay! Boobs! They were very nice boobs.

Anyway.

The security guy pulled away the barrier at about 6:55pm, and warned us to not move, to show him our tickets and to not run. We all cheered! Yay! NIN! And then we were all hustled past security, and into the venue. I managed to squeeze myself beside Christo and Daniel, and thus, the night really began.

Being so close to Saul Williams was amazing. He jerks around, and pulls up his baggy pants, and grins, and cracks jokes, and although he delivers the same speech every night, it's thrown out in a way I could never get tired of. He's a pretty cool guy - all arms and legs and a big ol' white smile. I took at least 18 pictures of him with a disposable camera - this tour has meant lots of pictures of Trent, but hardly any of the support bands, so I thought I'd pick up the slack a little. Plus, he's a hero. Hopefully I'll get them developed soon. Highlight song I think, had to be Black Stacey. I wish someone had bootlegged that performance.

His set was over too soon, and then there was the half an hour of setting up, which used the same damn music every single time, and that night was no exception. TRENT THAT THROBBING GRISTLE REMIX GRATES. Please make a new mix before the rumoured next tour. God, please. Then the band took the stage, and yada yada yada I WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF TRENT. As jaded as I may be, I still can appreciate the fact that I had one of the best standing places in the house, even though the security guards got in my way during two of the songs I really wanted to hear (EDIETS, SINCHN and Home) - which, along with Sin and No You Don't from the previous night meant that I had heard every single song played on the tour. I did wonder whether he recognised me when we caught eyecontact, but I figured that because he didn't attempt to throw anything at me, not even a water bottle (Daniel got one though), he probably didn't.One of my favorite moments was when he turned sideways during WT and straddled the microphone to sing. And when Alessandro came out to play bass during Getting Smaller, and threw a waterbottle at Aaron's head. Haha.

Security at the front were pretty good - paying just as much attention to the hydration of the crowd (I'm sure the guys loved squeezing water into the girl's mouths) as the batshit crowdsurfers in their motherfucking big boots. I felt briefly sorry for the guy who rolled out of the crowd with blood literally pouring down half of his face, but that soon passed. I was expecting it to be much worse - the first night at the Astoria felt a lot tougher on my chest and stomach than my time at the barrier for this gig. On the whole, I could breathe, and when I couldn't, I could brace myself against the barrier and push backwards to get some temporary 5 seconds of space. Somehow, the crowd also managed to dislodge my hat and break my belt, pushing my jeans down and my t-shirt up. I'd like to officially apologise to Trent Reznor who no doubt saw too much of my stomach pressed against the barrier throughout his final set of the UK. It's not my fault, I didn't mean for it to happen, honest to god. Please come back.

So, highlights - EDIETS, With Teeth, LINE, MOTP, and Home.

Leaving Danni behind (and losing Owen, only to discover on Saturday that he was in THE OTHER TUBE CARRIAGE ALL ALONG) a bunch of us ran through the tubes to catch the last Tube home. When we got back to the hostel, Kleptonin and Frankee were already there, and I collapsed on the bed with a chorus of "fucking hell"s, as my feet were practically burned off. I don't know whether I complain more, or just have little stamina, but I swear I end up in more pain than others. I also had sunburn on my right arm, which persists to the point of a large white band across my wrist where my bracelet affixed itself.

LUVLISTS:

Kleptonin & Frankee, azure, silktwisteddagger, wix, acidpits, enemyairship, christo, the always awesome madmarte, summariot, sascha the mexican DJ, the two danish girls from daneland, likklebaer, squarepeg, Mac, Storm, sam with the dreadlocks who got me a cheap disposable camera, Big T (bahahaha, what a nickname), Lili from Germany who borrowed my pen, carrotcake and his cute friend in the green t-shirt, the security guards outside the venue.

SHITLISTS:

The batshit girl from Toronto that turned up yet again, 15 minutes before the queue went in, and tried to blag her way into the venue on Wednesday. Security clamped down her, and generally just messed with her plans for crowd domination. I just hid under my hat. I was also told she enjoyed shitting on a guy in a wheelchair. I know she reads this forum, and I'd like to make it clear that I think she is the scum of the earth, and I'm not the only one horrified by her desperate attempts to suck Trent's cock via her no-doubt shitty demo tapes.

Also: any one of the people who crowdsurfed in New Rocks. Thanks for trying to give everyone at the front a concussion. Next time, leave your damn shoes with your friends!

Oh, and lets not forget everyone who wanted Jeordie's attention. Stop fucking screaming at him when he's on stage! His dick isn't that big that you can suck it from that distance.

Also: the person who put their hand DIRECTLY ON MY HEAD as if they were about to pull it backwards and snap my neck. Whoever you were, you're a silly bastard.

Sorry if I forgot anyone or if this is a little incomprehensible, there was a lot to write - the full version is on my LJ, if you are friended...

no, but then did you see the "Guests" those in the queue at the Glasgow show were having to deal with all day? It took the term "ned" to a whole other dimension. Old man neds are funny.

There were a couple of problems at Brixton. There was a bottle fight on my way home. It would have scared me, if I had been on my own, but some others showed me which buses to get. It turns out, they were staying in a hotel just around the corner from me, so i had company the whole way back.

I was at the night of the 14th and I'm looking at the pics at work and just re-living the whole gig :-)

Yeh I noticed chavs at the front for Saul Williams- though they never lasted NiN.
Maybe chavs are just poor mistaken fools- & perhaps the ones at NiN were trying to break the norm?

hmmmmm open minded or not- I'm not so sure such a thing could ever happen.
Any news on a boot?
Master of the Ninth Arch
allright, i'm back in germany again, means i've got more time to write now (and to think about what i am writing ;) ) and a lot more chances to find the keys i'm looking for. (i needed at least four days to find this ['] sign on a british computer).

saul williams was great, again. i start to ig into his music, i think i'm gonna purchase the album.

i managed to get in second row on aarons side again (i'm getting used to always stand stage left) and stood a little on the right of you, likklebaer. respect for you staying the whole time pressed against the rail. sometimes when the crowd moved and i stood behind you i triedto push back a bit cause you just looked so small there, but the pressure was kind of too hard. getting you out wasn't that easy, you wearing a skirt had surely something to do with it. ;)

so, summariot, thank you. you provided me a great shock and a cool evening. after you gave me the after show pass, i stood in the crowd, shaking. couldn't even sleep the whole night when i was back to the hotel. seeing members of two of my favourite bands (nin + muse) united in a room was a bit too much for my little heart. ;)

no thanks to the guy behind me who tried to choke me for half of the show. i know there are people who like such choking things, but personally, i don't think it's sexy at all.

the securitys were really cool, i even managed to not only get wettened from head to my belly and not from head to knees like on wednesday ;)
oh, and to see the security look at that bike seat was worth a lot. i've never seen such a wtf-look in someone's eyes.

the show was awesome. was only my third nin gig, but the more often you see a show, the more you can spend time watching the details. i had really good view on all of the guys but spend my time looking at trent, aaron and alessandro. trent losing his mic during with teeth was really 'interesting', i saw him trying to grab it again which was just impossible cause he had to go on with his tambourine.

aaron throwing his mic into the audiance was great, too, i'm pretty bad in catching things so a guy next to me got it. i saw him screaming into the mic, i think he didn't realize nobody could hear him. *uhm*

aaron smashing his guitar completely was quite great, too. i've only had the opportunity to see him throwing it around a bit. but i already thought he would smash it when he got it from his tech, cause i guessed it was the last song and you could see more duct tape than guitar. but it was awesome!

and alessandro coming out from behind his synths. dude, great moment!!! i'm really looking forward to the next european shows...

shortly talking to them on the after show was great. even if i'm kind of a calm person who knows how to control herself and is used to speak in front of an audiance, i never was that nervous for a long time. i still can't believe i told aaron to "keep on grasshopping on stage". at least he grinned and didn't tell some securitys to kick me out. i'm still wondering what strange things can come out of one's (in this case my) mouth when you're excited.

Haha, Gyuri man, with his melted chocolate, pissin' mesel' laffin' i was like! Class show like, at the front right in front of Aaron, who dropped his plec durin' the show, which i got the security guard to pick up for me, how mint we're the security guards man, can't believe people didn't like them, that guy givin' out the after show passes was a prince among men!

Apologies to the guy to my right who i got pissed off with for pushin' me, i was just really squashed!

But aye, totally mint, good to meet other Trent enthusiasts, there doesn't seem to be any up here in Newcastle.

The only thing that pissed me off was... HE DIDN'T PLAY DEEP!!!! I know, i mean, he could have even just played the video and not had to make any effort, damn Trent, he's gettin' an Aaron North plec between his eyes next time he's over these here parts.

Got me a class setlist as well, i'll post it up here if i can be arsed.

Gyuri my man, glad you enjoyed the show from our FUCKIN' MINT PLACE AT THE FRONT!!!!

P.S. i felt canny out of place with my atire like, perhaps i'll lose the cap and blue jeans next time, heck, i'll go naked, maybe have Trent's baby, or try at least when he comes into the crowd durin' Piggy.

HI

this was second show for me, and is my generally opinions that i enjoyed this show more than first (4 of july).

i standied with frankie, wix and wix friend lydia near back in front of mixing desks. this was most respectable place to watch entire show from.

saul williams was a happy negro, and he did play sackful of good musical numbers with his friend who got wacky hair.

after wards, was time for the nin nails band to arrive. to my pleasure they started with other intro, love beside you in time. show was sex rollercoaster of sex that know no bounds, especialwise rare perform of every day is exactly the same.

many bopping did to occur, although this time, even with sweaty london, did not feel as hot in side. i emerge with slight less sweaty on my me this time.

songs: oh my dickens
lights: fit and dribble
jeordie: still potato face

good: sauly william, the nins, internet people (acidpits, azure, enemyairship, likklbaer, saturtine, wix), beeing on live tv again next day (with frankie and saturtine), pizza hut saladz

bad: hot heat, travel disrupt (bombz sux), cockney man who say wrong bus to catch (i polish him face with gun bullets)

in total concluse i had many happy times and look forwar to when if it happens again in futuristic times

Marvellous show, mainly because I was right in the center with Enemy Airship and Saturnine getting the seven shades of sushi squeezed out of me. Whoever it was the back of my head smashed into twice is, I'm sorry :(
Thanks to everyone there. It was kind of surreal being slightly drunk on cider, playing GTA: San Andreas on an x-box with nin, muse, gary numan, ets guys and grace fucking jones surrounding you. But a great time never the less.
Master of the Ninth Arch

Brilliant show! Loved every second of it! Highlisght was probably Home, love that song!

Some *female-dog* clawed my T-shirt at some point in the gig...that pissed me off!

Backstage was cool! Seemed to be a hell of a lot more people there this time. But cool none the less!

Saw them at Werchter too and both were great shows!

And Likklebaer I remember you, I pulled you out at the end of the show. I was on your left right behind that couple who got pulled out during Starfuckers Inc.

I saw a lot of people with aftershow passes too! How did you get them? You all got connections or something? It was weird. Tell me how you got them plz...

I did get 4 guitar picks. 3 from Trent and 1 that has "Mong!" on one side and "Captain Napalm Uzi" on the other side. Is it Jeordie's? Cause Aaron played with white ones and it's a hard type pick.
Bricklayer
hmmm, how did the rest get the aftershow passes?

kind of regretted not checking out how to meet the band though...anyway, i was sitting up in the circle n it wa s my 1st time seeing a mosh pit so close to me (n i think that will be the last time...unless i survive The Prodigy gig).

Really? *laughs* After they got pulled out I basically thought I was going to die... last thing I remember was the start of the end part of Starfuckers, Inc. and then I was unable to breathe until whenever it was the security people pulled me out (probably less than a minute and a half, but it felt like forever) and then I dramatically and lamely collapsed. Not bad for my first time at the front (only my 4th concert too, 3 of which have been NIN this year).

Backstage passes? Luck mostly, though they seem to be more readily handed out to the female of the species.

just that i have kind of lost touch with them (was @ a rebelious age during 93-99)...and it wasnt till i got sick of my classical music studies that i went to look thru my old cds.

really am real glad that i managed to catch them during my last few mths in London here....although i am now palying with the thought of flying to the states to see another one of the gigs.

got a lot of problems with this inches stuff! must be around 1,70-1,72 in metres!!! (((but actually grant nicholas, the singer of feeder, is around 1,65m.)))
he´s as tall as i am and i´m 1,67, so, 5.5" (i think) :-D
met him in may.
this could be right ... i am 1,64 - between 5'4 and 5'5 ...and think trent i a little taller than me ...

What a great concert! Seeing them in Brixton Academy for a second time this year made me a really happy man! This gig was way better for me than the one I saw in Provinssirock, Finland. I'll definitely travel again to see NIN performing in Europe next year.
Plus, my whole stay in London was almost perfect.

Some thoughts:
Good:
+ Trent laughing during MOTP :D
+ Aaron's guitar smashing
+ Saul Williams (I had to buy his CD)
+ Two nice fans from Greece (Sofia?)
+ The venue

Bad:
- Audience clapping during hurt
- Really bored looking guy who sat next to me
---- Bomb strikes in london

It took a while indeed. The security had troubles pulling you out cause you were so close to the barrier and you didn't grab yourself on them. Then I got down to lift you up, but i wasn't really 100% fit anymore so it took a while :). That big security guy did the rest.
And you're lucky I didn't see your aftershow-pass on you or I would have stolen it while you collapsed  héhéh

@marya:
Where you still there when Jerome got in the cab?

no ... :(
...why ??
Master of the Ninth Arch
likklebaer, there were indeed a lot of people trying to lift you up, we tried to make some space around you and everything because it was so damn hard to get you out. if you had worn jeans, the security would at least have been able to grab your belt or something like that, but anyway, it's always hard to get someone out who's half inconcious, i felt quite the same way you did during a korn gig last year...
Bricklayer
I assume the G-string extraction method wasn't available? :o
Bricklayer
@ Likklebaer: no no, it was no big deal, lots of people need help to be pulled out, it's just that i recognize you

@marya: you said you saw Trent after the show when he left. He got in a cab together with Jeordie. A bit later Jerome got in a cab and then there were only 7 fans left, so maybe you were one of them...
Master of the Ninth Arch
no, i had no aftershow pass ... Lili told me that after when she met jerome at the aftershow party he left a little later ... but seems i had already left also , else i would have seen him, too .... :-(

yes, everything at its best... just had to opportunity to write/read in the forum earlier! It was very nice meeting you and Kristina (sorry for the wrong spelling!)

it was a great show - unbelievable, liked it much better then the one on the day before and the one in vienna! I nearly cried when he played "every day is exactly the same" - it is one of my favourite songs and I wanted to hear it live so bad... :)

Can anybody remember the five songs and their order from the soundcheck? If I'm not mistaken, it was EDIETS, Love is Not Enough, the Frail/Wretched and Getting Smaller. But damn, my memory is seriously lacking, I was just in awe that whole time. The reflected sound waves were hitting me in the back, making it a struggle to keep my balance sitting on the center barrier. I was just off center, and precisely at Trent's eye-level; that made me drool.

I'd like to apologise to anybody that was there; the over-enthusiastic guy also sitting on the barrier and that kept shouting things was my guest. Yes, it was his fault they didn't do another song - If Trent actually meant that, I would cry.

And a personal fuck you to the guy/girl who deliberately clawed away at my face with their nails and took bloody chunks out of my cheek in an attempt to make me move. If I could've moved my arms or legs, I would've elbowed/kicked you somewhere tender.

I also think that the second night of the Astoria was marginally better, but this was a close second.
Master of the Ninth Arch
honestly, i can't tell which show was better, the setlists were so different!!! there were good and bad points at both shows! but the good ones are predominant!!!!!!!

I was hoping somebody else could remember them all, as my memory is also lacking! I thought there was another one at the beginning but I am probably wrong - my grin just kept getting bigger and bigger and all my mind could summon up was wow - this is cool!! Never mind.......I know I had fun

At least you had a friend - mine never showed and turned up a couple of hours later, such is life...

Respect, respect !!!
I had a look at your pics and you're a very proper chronicer of the events and obviously a very devout fanatic :-D

Where was the alessandro/aaron pic taken ? It looks like a backyard or inner courtyard of the vienna venue ? (Jeez, how did you manage your way into the catering area ??? )

thanx :)

about the A/A pic in vienna..
when i was on my way to buy a drink before Dresden Dolls theese 2 guys were in my way.
they just wanted to look around in this relly cool outdoor venue. and not that many people seemed to care, or disturbed them, but i couldnt ignore them so i sad hi! and asked them if they dont mind if i take a picture of them.. they were really friendly and a few seconds later the dresden dolls started and aaron sad "you better check out this band, they are really cool" i told him that i like DD a lot as well.. and gone. so unfortunately it wasn't in the catering area.. it was far at the end of this nice place..
and on the firs brixton date i could meet them in the soundcheck and i told alessandro that i saw them in vienna in the crowd before the show and he sad " oh yeah i really liked that place, a bit reminded me to Italy"...
(and i am not a spiral member, just a bit lucky -THANX JAMES)

and i will have more photos from the last show, because i took lots of pictures with my friends camera, but he still didnt send me the stuff..my camera is broken, so what you can see there in this ugly blog from the last day it was taken with a single using s*t camera. we were standing in the first row so i hope the pictures will be good.

and i will put on some astoria pix as well to that blog.

Yes, and it's a very neat venue indeed - a non-festival-open air venue ! I was not aware of it's existence before I saw your pics. I'll have to keep it in mind for future occasions :)
And I think you're right and A&A are the most accessible of the bunch...

I'm surely looking forward to your other pictures - I think you've got a real talent of catching the atmosphere of places and moments, which is very enjoyable !!

And I'm supposed to ask you (from my girlfriend), if Aaron was wearing the same shirt on stage as when you met him ??? - her theory is, that the lilac comes across dark red in the stage lighting

http://eeejjjtemocskoselet.freeblog.hu/

t, w, luc, lp, jag ?

This is a long shot, but I'm going to guess that the third column is the key that the song is in, and the fourth, final column refers to which instrument is being played.

And that this is Jeordie's set list.

JAG = Jaguar.
LP = Les Paul
Keys = Keyboard

Leviathant wrote:And that this is Jeordie's set list.
oh yes, because HE was playing keyboards in SICNH
w is maybe warwick?
and in a few songs he was playing guitar not bass..but i cant remember whichone

I think the third column is tuning for the guitar/bass. I THINK.

Gyuri, notice that for the tracks Jeordie plays bass on there is nothing in the fourth column, but there is for the tracks on which he plays guitar.

And perhaps T for Telecaster.

Heh. Maybe.
Knight Aspirant
wow i wonder how many people are going to make fake after show party passes and try to get back next tour?
Master of the Ninth Arch
fake backstage passes, lol, i painted some but didn't really work ...
Master of the Ninth Arch
once i went to see placebo in brixton, and i've found a pass on the street.. ugly silver, with the date on it. i was very happy, put it to my shirt, went to the backdoor and the security sent me "away". :?

That's correct. LUC stands for Lucille (in The Wretched Jeordie plays a Gibson BB King Lucille model), T stands for Fender Telecaster and the W somehow relates to the Fender Precision bass that he plays in all of those songs.
Looking again, it is correct that when Jeordie plays bass there is nothing in the far column, however, there are also songs that he definitely plays bass on that are marked with the W... Sin being a case point. It is possible that those could be W for Warwick, I just can only remember him playing a P bass...

The Ds etc must be the respective tunings, because some of those are very incorrect if they are in reference to key signature.
